Learn and Master

$149 one-time fee Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award Learn and Master was founded to create comprehensive multi-media training tools for those who want to learn at their own speed and from the comfort of their own home. With over $1 million dollars put into each of their courses, the quality is significant. For ballroom dancing lessons, the instructors, Mark Short and Jamee Simon, are professional ballroom dancers that have studied and instructed various dance styles for years. Currently the two compete in the Professional American Smooth division.

Instantly you know that you've purchased quality ballroom dance lessons as the screen splits in two frames - one showing the instructor's entire body and the second showing a close-up of the instructor's feet. This lets you choose the view that best suits your needs.

The lessons come with 13 DVD's full of beautiful choreography and easily learned ballroom dance figures, 6 CD's of music to dance to, and a 75+ page workbook outlining each ballroom dance. All of this comes in an impressive and well-organized carrying case.

Ballroom dances included in the training are:

  • Waltz
  • Tango
  • Foxtrot
  • Rumba
  • Cha Cha
  • Swing

Learn and Master has built a fun and easy training course, as new skills build on top of the previous. This product is very fairly priced and will last many years. We liked that Learn and Master also offers a payment plan to reduce your cost from one lump payment to 3 or 4. The cost is a nominal $4 surcharge, but can be well worth it.

In the event that you aren't satisfied with the training, Learn and Master offers a generous 60-day return policy for a full refund of the purchase price. Course materials must be in like-new condition with no scratches or markings.

Learn and Master Ballroom Dancing provides well organized, high quality ballroom dance lessons geared to meet the specific needs of each individual student. We were more than impressed with every aspect of the Learn and Master course, and they have earned our highest rating.

Dance Lovers

From $120 to $150

Foster and Judi, the instructors of Dance Lovers, are an experienced couple with years of ballroom dance training. This sort of mom and pop shop provides a contact number that is direct to their dance studio. The ballroom dance lessons are geared toward beginners or intermediate and the 4 DVD's provided offer 3.5 hours of ballroom dance instruction.

Dance Lovers provides different levels of ballroom dance lessons. For the beginner you may purchase a package that includes 4 DVD's instructing the following ballroom dances:

  • Single Swing
  • Foxtrot
  • Rumba
  • Waltz
  • Samba
  • American and Brazilian Caxio

After you've mastered the lower level training you may purchase additional DVD's to become more of an expert ballroom dancer. The next level of DVD's focuses on the same ballroom dances but includes more complex steps. The training does build upon itself but additional training costs $150 for intermediate and $150 for advanced DVD's. In the event that you are not satisfied with the training no return policy exists.

Overall, we felt the training was a bit out of date and wouldn't hold the attention of all buyers. Also, if you want to become a great Waltzer you have to spend $420 - a much bigger investment than most lessons. For more entertaining ballroom dance lessons as well as better value you should choose a higher ranked product.

Librero's Ballroom Dance 101

$88 one-time fee

Librero's Ballroom Dance 101 is an out of date website, and the same is reflected in the ballroom dance lessons. The instructors are Emilio and Blanche Librero - both long time dance instructors.

Lessons are geared for the beginner and include the following ballroom dances: Latin Dancing and Argentina Tango, Big Band, Night Club, also available are individual dances if you'd like to learn one in particular.

While the price of the DVD set is affordably priced actually making it through these lessons is much more taxing. The 1980's scenery, music and speed of the lessons was painful for us. They didn't hold our attention very long and we didn't find much enjoyment as we were constantly distracted by the videos.

In the event that you are not satisfied with your order you may return within 90 days for a full money back guarantee. This website and product do come with an 1-800 number for your assistance. We were unsure of the actual hours available.

In the end, we felt this DVD collection was out of date in music, speed and appearance. To stay engaged and entertained we recommend looking at a higher ranked ballroom dancing lesson provider to allow you to stay focused and ultimately successful.

Salsa Crazy

$197 one-time fee

Salsa Crazy is an unprofessional website with many annoying popup adds and distractions. The beginner collection provides ballroom dance instruction for only 4 dances yet at a higher cost. The collection includes 7 DVD's in total - 2 for waltz, swing dance, rumba and 1 for foxtrot.

Founded in San Francisco by Evan Margolin, this site also offers a series of lessons for additional dances that range from $97 and up. The dance instructors vary across all DVD's and their backgrounds are unknown.

If you aren't completely thrilled with your ballroom dancing lessons you may send it back within 30 days for a full refund minus shipping. We couldn't locate a customer service location across the very busy website.

Overall, we couldn't find any good reason to spend time on this website. It's hard to navigate and finding what you're looking for takes extra time and effort that we simply didn't have the patience for. With fewer ballroom dances taught for a higher price, lack of customer focus and missing information we recommend you shop from a higher ranked ballroom dancing provider.

Continued from above

As a result of the internet it's now relatively simple to find both cost effective and flexible alternatives to traditional ballroom dancing classes. Many internet companies exist today that provide quality ballroom dancing lessons that can teach anyone to ballroom dance, at their own personal pace.

However, not all ballroom dancing lessons are the same. It's important to be familiar with what you purchase before you make a move. Outdated music, uneventful instructors and ineffective training are not going to yield the best results.

Before you purchase ballroom dancing lessons, there are a number of factors you should consider. Some of these include:

  • Who is selling the ballroom dancing lessons and what will you receive? Can you anticipate DVD's, files, books? Or are the lessons only offered online?
  • Cost. How much will you have to pay for your ballroom dancing lessons? How does the cost compare to other providers, and more importantly, how does it relate to the value of the product you receive?
  • Return policy. If there is a problem with your ballroom dancing lessons, can you get your money back? has reviewed and ranked the best ballroom dancing lessons available today. We hope these reviews help you find the right ballroom dancing package for you!
