Inside the Cellar

INSIDE THE CELLAR Visit Site

Cost:

$21.99 per month

Inside the Cellar is a website with a goal of bringing "artisan crafted" wine, beer, and food together with happy people. The founders have traveled around the globe to find the best wines and craft beers and want to share their discoveries with a community of like-minded enthusiasts. One of their products, The Craft Beer Club, brings their favorite sudsy selections to your door.

The Craft Beer Club has only one option - you'll receive 3 beers per month, each a 22 oz. bomber, with the monthly selection chosen based on the "season, flavor, and uniqueness of the brews". Along with the bombers customers will also receive tasting notes and suggested food pairings, storage and cellar aging instructions. Also, new members receive a small gift with their first shipment, followed by a six month gift and yearly anniversary gifts.

The only issue one might have with this club is the lack of options. Some clubs allow choices (frequency of, or number of bottles per shipment) for a more personalized membership that fits them or their gift giving needs. That said, Inside the Cellar does want you to be 100% satisfied. If there is a problem with a shipment they will find a resolution, up to and including replacement or refund for unopened returned bottles. Also, you can cancel your membership at any time. And the Craft Beer Club from Inside the Cellar is among the best values we have found for beer clubs, at only $21.99/month plus shipping.

Inside the Cellar offers a basic beer club option. While it only has one monthly option to choose from, it comes at a good price. We would love to see The Craft Beer Club offered with more options while still maintaining the affordable pricing.

Amazing Clubs

AMAZING CLUBS Visit Site

Cost:

From $33.95 - $36.95 per month, depending on selections

Amazing Clubs provides a number of products to be shipped monthly such as cake, flowers, chocolate, dog treats, ice cream, movies, neckties and much more. The name speaks for itself in the amount of items you can have delivered each month either as a gift or for personal enjoyment from this site. While Amazing Clubs does not specialize in beer they do offer a beer club membership that includes domestic beer found in micro breweries across the US only. Amazing Clubs does not provide any regular newsletters or fun information to learn more about the nuances of the breweries.

Membership terms include a 3, 4, 6, 12, or 24 month option. The fixed memberships must be paid for upfront, but you get to enjoy a bit of a price break on any membership that is 6 months or more. A beer club membership at Amazing Clubs will provide you:

  • Twelve 12oz. bottles of domestic beer from two different breweries across the nation, and four different styles of beers
  • Free Shipping
  • Personalized Gift Announcement
  • 100% satisfaction guaranteed
  • Opportunity to buy more of the same beer if you like it at a discounted price

While Amazing Clubs seems to lead the race in mega-clubs and gift variety their beer club offerings were limited. More emphasis seems to be placed on the concept versus the actual beer that arrives at your doorstep. We would have liked to have seen more forthcoming information, a newsletter, fun trivia or something entertaining for the beer enthusiast.

All in all, we felt a better value is available in a higher rated company that is more focused on the beer experience and meeting customers needs.

However, all beer clubs are not the same. Before you give a gift of a beer club membership, or sign up for your own enjoyment, you should consider several factors. Some of these include:

  • Duration.  What is the beer club membership length? Can you choose one to fit your needs?
  • Cost.  How does the beer club membership fee compare with the competition?
  • Frequency.  How frequently will the beer arrive? Can you select monthly, every other month or quarterly as needed?
  • Beer Choices.  If you'll only drink light or pale beer and can't stomach the heavier formulas, it's important to know if the beer club offers you a choice.
  • Membership Minimums.  Are you required to stay in the beer club for a period of time, or can you cancel your membership at your discretion?
  • Shipping.  It's important to know what shipping charges, if any, will be applied.

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best beer clubs available today. We hope this information helps you find the best beer club membership to meet your needs!

What to Expect From a Beer-of-the-Month Club

There are clubs for reading books and clubs for learning to stitch, so why not a club that focuses on beer?

Beer-of-the-month clubs are designed to bring consumers a variety of beer straight to their doorsteps each month at a group rate, making it affordable and convenient. If you like beer, it is an ideal way to try a number of brands and flavors without ever having to leave the comfort of your home.

However, the number of beer-of-the-month clubs offered online is staggering and can leave the consumer confused as to which club would best fit their needs. So how does one select the ideal beer club?

First and foremost, do you like domestic or foreign, micro-brewed or mass-produced? Are you adventurous and enjoy trying new things, or would you prefer to stick with what you know and love? Once a decision is made about the kind of beer that is preferred, those preferences can be used to select a club which fits your taste criteria.

Next, decide how much you can reasonably spend for a membership. Most beer-of-the-month clubs offer several options when joining. Subscribers can select original flavors, which would consist of the kinds of beers most commonly sold on tap and by the bottle. These selections generally are pulled from various microbreweries in the United States. This kind of basic membership is the least expensive at around $20-25 per month depending on the club. However, for those who truly enjoy beer, an original selection may be a bit boring.

Other memberships, which include both domestic and foreign beers, often are the most tantalizing to the beer connoisseur, but also are the most costly at around $40 per month. It should be noted that the monthly membership fees do not include shipping and handling charges, which can range between $12-15 per shipment.

For the most elite beer drinkers, there also are several clubs which offer rare brands of beers, including limited-release brands by Elevation Brewing Co. and Jolly Pumpkin. These beers are not for the faint of heart. Creatively-prepared, they often can be placed in a traditional wine cellar and aged for a more refined taste.

Some clubs ship several times a month, so the additional shipping and handling can add up. Be sure to include the estimated cost of shipping when determining your beer-of-the-month club budget.

If you’ve never belonged to a beer-of-the-month club before, it might be a good idea to read reviews about each club out there, or ask friends and family for recommendations. Some clubs are members of the Better Business Bureau, which provides the customer with an extra layer of protection should they be dissatisfied with their club membership and unable to obtain a reasonable resolution to their grievance through the club itself.

Lastly, a smart thing to do when signing up as a member of any club is to fully read and review the terms of service, as well as the membership agreement. Some clubs require a minimum membership term, usually around three months. This is the minimum amount of time the member agrees to be in the club and pay the monthly dues and fees. Some also offer payment options and automatic-renewal options. Be clear on what the terms are before agreeing to them in order to avoid being deadlocked into an expensive club you may not be able to afford.
