Foam Mattresses Better Business Bureau Reliability Seal

Get Your Foam Mattress at Leesa Today! Foam Mattresses are the latest trend in the mattress industry. A few years ago consumers were able to choose between one or two foam mattress brands - but now, several companies compete in the memory foam mattress business.

Adults are attracted to both the comfort and support that a well-made foam mattress provides, especially over the standard spring mattress. Many people that have complained of back pain for years are now finding relief from simply buying a new mattress made of foam. The design of foam mattresses eliminates the pressure points that can cause body pain and restless sleep.

Leesa

LEESA Visit Site

Cost:

From $525 to $990

TopConsumerReviews.com Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award If you want a great night's sleep AND a clear conscience, be sure to put a Leesa foam mattress at the top of your shopping list. What makes Leesa different from other companies that sell foam mattresses?

The first clear difference is the mattress itself. The Leesa mattress has the following features that have led to nearly 4,000 five-star reviews from happy customers:

  • Bottom layer: a 6" dense core of support foam
  • Middle layer: a 2" layer of contour "memory foam"
  • Top layer: a 2" layer of Avena foam that allows for cooling
  • Cover: seamless edge, cool and soft to the touch
  • Never has to be flipped, rotated or turned

Pricing is very competitive: $525 for a twin foam mattress, up to $990 for a King or California King. Shipping is free on every mattress, giving shoppers an additional savings.

The second way that Leesa mattresses stand out is in the 100-night risk-free trial. When you buy one of their foam mattresses, you can use it for up to 100 nights. If you decide that you don't like it - for any reason - Leesa will arrange to pick up the mattress at no cost, and then they will donate it to a local charity or recycling center before giving you a full refund. Be aware that it can take up to a month for your body to adjust to a new mattress, so take advantage of the 3+ months before making your decision.

The last unique feature of Leesa as a brand is their commitment to making the world a better place. For those who believe that it's important to buy products made in America, they'll appreciate that the Leesa product was designed in Virginia, manufactured in Pennsylvania, shipped in boxes made in Indiana, and covered with materials woven in Indiana. Also, Leesa donates one mattress for every 10 purchased; these donated mattresses (more than 6,000 to date) have gone to shelters in Arizona, New Jersey, New York City and other places, serving the homeless and other people in transition. And, for the environmentally-conscious, they'll be glad to know that Leesa partners with the Arbor Day Foundation in order to plant one tree for every mattress sold.

What's not to love about a Leesa mattress? It's hard to imagine a foam mattress that could deliver more. Because of their competitive pricing and free shipping, demonstrated commitment to making the world a better place, and a risk-free 100-day trial, Leesa shares our top 5-star rating and is an excellent choice for your next foam mattress purchase.

From $649 to $3,950

Nature's Sleep is a manufacturer of foam mattresses and other related products whose mission is to provide consumers with a better night's sleep at affordable prices. Nature's sleep also has a strong commitment to the environment, constantly designing and re-engineer their products and processes to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and minimize their carbon footprint. Also, most of Nature's Sleep products are anti-microbial, anti-dust mite, anti-bacterial and allergen-resistant which is ideal for the 60 million Americans who crave allergy relief. Nature's Sleep foam mattresses are made exclusively with memory foams that have been independently certified as safe for both people and the environment by CertiPUR-US laboratories. CertiPUR-US certified foams meet strict guidelines for performance, content, indoor emissions and environmental impact.

CertiPUR-US approved means:

  • Low emissions for better indoor air quality
  • No prohibited phthalates
  • No ozone depleters (CFCs)
  • No mercury, lead or heavy metals
  • No formaldehyde
  • No PBDE flame retardants

There is a huge selection of memory foam mattress on the easy to navigate Nature's Sleep website. Base model mattresses start at $649 for a twin and go all the way up to $3,950 for a king size. There are 13 different models to choose from, each with varying features and specifications, so there are plenty of selections to choose from to get the perfect mattress for each consumer. There are literally thousands of reviews on the Nature's Sleep website, in fact they dedicate an entire section of the website to their product reviews. The overwhelming majority of the product reviews were very positive, citing things like firmness around the edges, reduction of back pain and even the coolness of the product during sleep.

Nature's Sleep offers free shipping on all products and also a 20-year limited warrantee. There is also a return policy if the product is unopened, but they charge a 20% restocking fee for this service. This was pretty much the only negative we could find with Nature's Sleep. Otherwise with a large selection, commitment to the environment and excellent consumer reviews, we strongly recommend giving Nature's Sleep serious consideration for anyone seeking a memory foam mattress.

Eight Sleep

EIGHT SLEEP Visit Site

Cost:

From $475 to $899 for traditional foam mattress

From $949 to $1,199 for Smart Mattress

Prepare to have your mind blown when you look at what Eight has to offer in the foam mattress department. Did you ever think that your mattress could trigger your lights to turn on when your alarm clock goes off? Or automatically turn on a "bed warming" feature if the room temperature gets colder than you'd like? Eight can do all of that - and more.

Billing itself as a "sleep improvement system", the primary feature of Eight's mattresses is the Smart Cover (which is also sold separately from the mattress, if you already have a mattress that you like). The Cover fits like a standard mattress pad and provides you with a wealth of information about your sleep habits - sleep phases, breathing rate and heart rate, for example - similar to what you would get from today's popular bracelet-style sensors, but without having to wear anything extra.

The Smart Cover also incorporates a warming feature with two zones, so if you like it toasty and your bed partner doesn't, you can both have it your way.

Even more impressive is the way the Smart Cover can be connected with other Wifi-enabled products, allowing you to create a "smart bedroom". Want the lights to dim when you set your mattress to night mode? It can do that. How about lowering the thermostat when you're finally asleep? Yes, it can do that too - assuming you have the additional, non-Eight products needed.

Eight offers Smart Mattresses in four sizes: Full, Queen, King, and Cali King. So, if you're looking for a high-tech twin mattress, you're out of luck at Eight. They do offer the same mattress base - minus the sensor pad - in Twin and Twin XL, so you can still send your kid off to college with a great mattress. You just won't be able to keep tabs on his sleeping habits.

The mattress itself consists of four layers of foam:

  • 2" of reactive foam on the uppermost layer, designed to stay cool and provide comfort
  • 2" of contouring foam on the next layer, which contours to the body and offers pressure relief
  • 2" of supportive transition foam, providing consistent weight distribution for all shapes and sizes
  • 4" of high density support foam, adding firmness and a durable foundation

Customer reviews are extremely positive, for both the Smart Cover and the Eight mattress itself. Shoppers say that they've consistently gotten a great night's sleep, even after using the mattress for several months. Eight does provide a 100-night trial: if you don't love your Eight mattress, you can get a 100% refund, and Eight will pay for the return shipping. Given that it can take some time to get the smart features integrated and detecting properly, we think this is a great perk offered by Eight.

Like most foam mattress retailers, Eight ships all mattresses for free. Keep a look out for special promotions, too; at the time of our review, Eight was offering two free pillows with every mattress purchase. Also, if you're a student, first responder, or active/retired/veteran military, check out the links at the bottom of the page to save an additional 10%.

Unless you're specifically looking for a smart twin mattress, Eight is an excellent choice for your foam mattress purchase - especially if you love having the latest tech at your disposal...even when you sleep.

Essentia

ESSENTIA Visit Site

Cost:

From $1,489 to $6,180

Essentia was started by Jack Dell'Accio when he found out a family member had cancer. He began researching how many toxins were in everyday items, including mattresses, and he sought to provide foam for mattresses, made from natural ingredients.

Essentia's offers several different foam mattresses (including a baby crib foam mattress) that have:

  • Unbleached Organic Cotton
  • Organic dyes
  • Absolutely no adhesives
  • No chemical odor
  • Allergy-free sleep environment
  • 80% more breathable than conventional memory foam
  • Faster recovery time
  • Biodegradable

The Essentia website is very clean and easy to navigate. A helpful chart is provided comparing Essentia's foam mattresses to other memory foam, latex foam and spring mattresses. There are many links from the homepage that are informational in living "Green" in other areas besides just your mattress. The company is based in Canada, but has a few couple retail locations in the US. They offer Free Shipping, a 60-day money back guarantee and a limited 20-year warranty.

Essentia is the most natural foam mattress option available. Customers rave that comfort and support has not be compromised with the natural ingredients. They offer great customer service with their shipping and guarantees. The one thing that kept them from topping the review is that they are a young company. A 20-year warranty isn't worth anything if the company is not longer around. We believe they are here to stay, but due to their new status, we were hesitant to rank them the highest.

Memory Foam

MEMORY FOAM Visit Site

Cost:

From $399 to $2,399

Memory Foam claim to be the original memory foam store. There have been many "knock-off's" but these are the real deal. Many people often think of memory foam as toppers for their current mattresses but Memory Foam also offers complete foam mattress sets as well. If you are specifically looking for memory foam, we would recommend you look longer at this company. Their memory foam is soy-based and eco friendly.

The Memory Foam website is simple in appearance but full of great information. The homepage is organized well with an easy to navigate sidebar that has different ways to search for your foam mattress or foam mattress topper of choice. You can read about the company and the science behind Memory Foam on the homepage towards the bottom.

Memory Foam is much cheaper option over those foam mattresses higher ranked. Free Shipping is offered periodically and there are incentives including free pillows with your foam mattress purchase. Memory Foam also offers a 90-day Free Trial period, a 20-year limited warranty and 0% financing. If your budget does not allow you to choose one of the more expensive brands that are ranked higher, Memory Foam is a great option for comfort and support at a reasonable price.

Keetsa

KEETSA Visit Site

Cost:

From $439 to $2,203

Keetsa is very environmental and pocketbook conscience. Their line of seven foam mattresses are reasonably priced and are eco-friendly. The foam mattress options include coil, green tea memory foam and a combination of both. Keetsa is very careful in the selection of materials for their foam mattresses using unbleached organic cotton, latex foam and green tea extract for the natural, relaxing scent. Box Springs are not needed to support the foam mattresses, just another way they are helping the environment.

The look of Keetsa's website was one of our favorites reviewed. It is well laid out and crisp in color choice of green, further supporting their cause of "going green." The homepage has tabs at the top that help you find what you are looking for. They even have a blog that has many different topics in regards to living eco-friendly. Like many of the other companies reviewed, Keetsa offers free shipping. Unique to them though is that their foam mattresses are extremely compressed, allowing them to be shipped easily in small packages, which produce a lower carbon footprint - once again, helping the environment.

Unfortunately, there is no comfort guarantee offered. The website advises you speak with a Sleep Consultant before you purchase your foam mattress, and also if you're unsatisfied after you receive it. Keetsa requires that you sleep on your foam mattress for 30 days before you can return it. You have up to 90 days to return your foam mattress and will be assessed a 25% processing fee. There is a 12-year warranty that is offered on Keetsa foam mattresses.

Keetsa has been around since 2007 and is starting to make its presence known in the foam mattress industry. They are very eco-friendly and strive to provide quality foam mattresses at a reasonable price. Keetsa is a good option if you are concerned about the materials of your foam mattress, but can't afford a higher priced mattress.

Nectar

NECTAR Visit Site

Cost:

From $439 to $2,203

Foam mattresses seem to be one of the hottest items on the market lately, and Nectar is one of the newest contenders hoping for your business.

At first glance, the Nectar mattress sounds amazing:

  • 365-night trial: use the mattress for a full year. If you're not happy, Nectar will refund your money and pick up the mattress at no cost to you.
  • "Forever Warranty": guaranteed for as long as you own the mattress.
  • Free shipping and returns
  • Quality construction: cooling cover, several types of foam (such as quilted gel memory and adaptive hi-core memory), CertiPUR-US Certified

And, if you look at the main page, Nectar proudly claims that it has earned awards and accolades from comparison sites and reviewers for being the most comfortable mattress: "A Better Mattress for a Better Price". And yes, Nectar foam mattresses are priced more competitively than others on the market, starting at $500 for a twin and going up to $900 for a California king.

Unfortunately, the rest of those claims may be too good to be true. As we dug down into the details of Nectar, we found numerous red flags. First, the only contact information available on the Nectar website is an email address. We found out that there used to be a live chat feature and a toll-free number that have since been disabled.

We also learned that both of the addresses used for Nectar - the one currently listed on the Better Business Bureau's entry for Nectar and the one previously used - are both residential locations in California, not an office or warehouse location. And, with respect to the BBB, not only is Nectar not accredited or rated, but there are also more than 50 complaints registered there alone.

What is making customers so unhappy about Nectar? We found dozens of customers whose mattresses took weeks or months to ship - from China - if it shipped at all. If you're looking for a USA-made product, this isn't it. And, when those customers tried to get a refund, they had no way other than email to contact the company directly; some had to file a claim of fraud with their bank or credit card company just to get their money back.

In fact, it was difficult to find a trustworthy review that had anything good to say about the Nectar buying experience or the mattress itself. However, because Nectar is still relatively new to the market, and because their trial period, warranty length, and prices are very competitive, we're interested to see if these problems are just because the company is still working out the kinks. Hopefully, in the not-too-distant-future, there will be more feedback available from customers who actually received the mattress.

Continued from above

With a number of new companies entering the foam mattress market, it's important to know what to look for when shopping for a foam mattress. Before you make the move to purchase a foam mattress, you should consider the following:

  • Cost.  What is the price range for the foam mattresses offered?
  • Customer Feedback.  What are customers saying about their experiences with the foam mattresses and the company's they bought them from?
  • Return Policy.  In the event you're not satisfied with your purchase, does the company enable you to return the foam mattress for a full refund?
  • Guarantee.  If your foam mattress breaks or disappoints you in a few years, is it still covered under warranty? For how long?
