HEALTH INSURANCE

With the rising costs of health care, many individuals have turned to the Internet to make informed decisions about which health insurance company can provide reasonably priced coverage that best meets their needs. Calling health insurance companies to obtain individual quotes is not only time consuming, but forces you to deal with high-pressure insuarnce agents and can be extremely frustrating. Many people want to find quality, competitive health insurance plans without all the hassles.

Because health insurance prices for similar coverage can vary widely by company, you need to be able to easily compare health insurance quotes to find the provider that is right for you. Additionally, if your health insurance coverage needs have changed, it's important to find a health insurance provider that offers services that meet your current needs.

There are a number of services on the Internet that can help you compare and contrast different health insurance providers, coverage levels, and plan types. Some websites make it incredibly easy to compare health insurance quotes and coverage levels. Others require that you speak to a commission-based health insurance agent in order to get this information.

When looking at different health insurance selection services, there are certain factors you need to consider. Some of these include:

Convenience.  Can you obtain health insurance quotes online or do you have to speak to an agent?

Ease of Use. Is the website easy to navigate? Can you easily compare health insurance plans, pricing, and coverage levels?

Reliability.  Is the information they provide relevant and credible? Do they offer quotes from health insurance companies that have a high A.M. Best rating (designating them an industry leader)?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best health insurance selection services available today. We hope you find these reviews helpful in finding a health insurance plan that meets your needs!

TopConsumerReviews.com 5-star Top Rated Product

If you're looking for health insurance, you don't have to look any further than eHealth Insurance. Through their easy-to-use website, you can compare multiple health insurance quotes within seconds. The full-service website offers health insurance, short-term health insurance, student health insurance, health savings accounts, dental insurance, term life insurance, and business insurance quotes.

The process is very easy. Simply enter your ZIP code, date of birth, and gender, and click "get quotes." Within seconds you can select from 75 different plans. The top 25 plans display first, but you can look at all 75 options if you like. You can preview the quote with their "at a glance" feature, using icons that tell you if the quote covers prescriptions, has PPO fees, covers maternity, and so on. You can also see whether the company will accept an electronic signature when applying for coverage.

Another nice feature on eHealth Insurance is the ability to sort quotes by eHealth's Picks, Price, Company, or Deductible. This is very helpful for the buyer who knows exactly what type of health insurance plan they need but might want to investigate the companies and options a bit more. When we looked at the health insurance quotes by company, we noticed that eHealth Insurance lists each company's A.M. Best rating, which gives any buyer peace of mind. You also have the option to select plans based on whether your doctor is in the network.

Additionally, if you require greater assistance in selecting a health insurance plan, you can use the "plan advisor" option. With this feature, eHealth Insurance walks you through a series of questions that guide them to a recommendation of the best plan for your needs. We found this to be a very helpful feature; many people may not be aware of which health insurance options they should take advantage of.

eHealth Insurance is a great health insurance quote website. You'll find it easy to use, and a source where you can obtain a variety of health insurance quotes for everything from $500 deductible plans to $5,000. The thoroughness of the plans offered is excellent, the presentation is superb, and, as a result, we have awarded eHealth Insurance our highest rating.

Health Insurance

HEALTH INSURANCE

4 stars

Health Insurance is an easy-to-use health insurance quote website. After answering a few questions, you receive multiple quotes from reputable health insurance companies. In fact, Health Insurance lists all of the companies' A.M. Best ratings to help you choose a respectable health insurance provider.

After completing some basic personal information, you will be given a list of health insurance quotes to choose from. You can compare up to six plans at a time in great detail. You also have the option of comparing health insurance quotes by company, popularity, plan type, and premium.

In a side-by-side comparison of four health insurance companies we found the information easy to read and very simple to follow. Health Insurance literally lists all the important details from each quote for each health insurance company alongside each other. You can compare everything from deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, office visit co-pays, monthly premiums, and so on. You are even able to view each company's plan brochure as well as their physician directory to see if your doctor is in their network. This is a very helpful feature. If you decide you like one of the plans presented, simply click on "apply now" and you will be directed to a questionnaire to gather more information. Once you submit this, you will be contacted by an agent to finish the application process.

This is the only drawback to this service. Some customers may not want to deal with a commission-minded insurance agent directly. For individuals who would find this inconvenient, you might want to use one of the higher-rated selections. Otherwise, Health Insurance is a strong choice.

Insurance Finder

INSURANCE FINDER

3 stars

Insurance Finder offers quotes for multiple types of insurance, but we focused our review on their health insurance offerings. The website is professional and easy to navigate. Whatever your health insurance needs, you are likely to find some options here such as individual and family health insurance, group health insurance, long term care/disability insurance, senior/Medicare insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and prescription drug savings plans. However, you cannot view quotes online, which is inconvenient.

After clicking the link for individual and family health insurance, you are directed to a page requesting information about you. You fill out a questionnaire with your personal information, as well as the type of health insurance coverage you would like. Unfortunately, you don't actually get a quote at this point. Instead, your information is sent to health insurance agents who will call you.

This process does not enable you to compare and contrast health insurance quotes on your own. You have to wait for a health insurance agent to call you, gather your information again, give you a quote, and then pressure you into a sale. This is frustrating if you are looking for a quick answer to your health insurance needs. Therefore, if you would like to view your health insurance quotes online and not have to go through an agent, you might choose one of the higher-rated options.

Insurelane

INSURELANE

3 stars

Insurelane is a user-friendly website that is very easy to navigate. Although Insurelane offers everything from health insurance, life insurance, group insurance, dental insurance, auto insurance, and homeowners' insurance, you will not find any online health insurance quotes through this website.

Clicking on the health insurance link leads you to an information page that boasts "5 free quotes." You will first complete a medical profile where you list everyone you would like to insure. Then you must provide personal information such as your phone number, address, name, and so on. Once you complete these steps, click the link to "get your FREE quotes."

The problem is you do not get any health insurance quotes - at least not at this point. The next screen thanks you for choosing the Quote Financial Network and lets you know that you are now being matched with health insurance agents that will contact you by mail or phone within the next 24 - 48 hours. This feels a bit misleading to us as we were expecting to actually see our five free health insurance quotes after clicking the button.

If you are looking for a health insurance agent, then Insurelane will connect you with at least five of them. Although you my be able to find a quality health insurance plan through an agent, you must also field persistent phone calls as they try to sell you a plan. If you want to be able to examine quotes and compare prices on your own before dealing with a health insurance agent, you might want to select one of the higher-rated companies.

Insure Me

INSURE ME

2.5 stars

Insure Me is a free referral service that makes it simple to find health insurance for you and your family. The Insure Me website is easy to navigate and enables you to receive health insurance quotes from multiple agents. However, this website does not provide online quotes.

Once you enter your ZIP code, you will be directed to a personal information page where you will be asked some health related questions. You will then be "matched" with health insurance companies, and a health insurance agent from each of these companies will contact you with your quotes.

Insure Me is a free service, and it will help you find competitive insurance rates through various companies. However, you need to be prepared to do a lot of the comparison work on your own as you talk with several different health insurance agents. If you are looking to obtain quotes online without speaking to an agent, you might choose one of the higher-rated selections.

2 Insure 4 Less

2 INSURE 4 LESS

1.5 stars

2 Insure 4 Less offers all kinds of personal insurance quotes. The options include auto insurance, home insurance, renter insurance, life insurance, health insurance, disability insurance, long-term care insurance, cancer insurance, burial insurance, and annuity plans. For the purposes of our review, we focused on their health insurance quotes. However, their offerings in this area were very slim.

The process of getting health insurance quotes begins by filling out a questionnaire that includes personal information (name, address, date of birth, height, and weight) and also answering some health questions. Once you get through this process, you are directed to click a link to receive your health insurance quotes. When we did this, we were taken to a page that said "sorry, no quotes are available for your ZIP code area," but then almost immediately the site switched to another page offering us discounts if we combined our health insurance quote with other insurance quotes. We declined this and asked to proceed to our health insurance quotes.

The next page we were taken to thanked us for submitting our information to 2 Insure 4 Less and said we would be contacted shortly with the best health insurance bids. The problem is that we couldn't tell whether the first page (which said there were not any quotes for our ZIP code) was legitimate. 2 Insure 4 Less did not show us any companies or agents that we had been matched with; it just said we would start receiving phone calls. Additionally, we were directed to other websites for more health insurance quotes.

2 Insure 4 Less was not very helpful in our search for health insurance. We recommend using one of the higher-rated services for your health insurance needs.
