An increase in IGF-1 causes reactions in the body that make it easier to rebuild and grow. The transportation and uptake of amino acids increases while protein synthesis also rises, consequently affecting protein metabolism. HGH stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of muscle cells; it improves the rate amino acids are accepted by muscle cells. As a result, overall muscle and skin tone are influenced. Following the same process, HGH indirectly stimulates the synthesis of cartilage cells which leads to bone growth.
