PIANO LESSONS

Whether you want to provide piano lessons for a child, or you've had a lifelong dream to play the piano yourself, it's never too late to learn. Thousands of adults and children alike learn how to play the piano every year, learning a skill that will last them a lifetime.

Traditionally, piano lessons have been provided by a local piano store or a piano teacher at their home. Arranging time for piano lessons can make the effort challenging to fit into your day, with work schedules, kids activities, and other events all competing for time. And not only can instructor-led piano lessons be inconvenient, they can also be very expensive, easily ranging from $200-$400 per month or more. Both the lack of flexibility and expensive cost can push the dream of playing the piano out of reach for many people.

Thankfully, other methods of learning the piano are available today that are both flexible and cost effective. Internet companies can provide piano lessons via DVD's, CD's, downloaded instructions, or online training videos that can be effective in teaching anyone to play the piano - at any time of the day, and at that person's own schedule.

However, not all piano lessons are the same. Many companies make lofty promises to train you quickly and with little work. That alone isn't reasonable, as learning to play the piano requires patience and practice.

Before you decide on what sort of piano lessons to purchase, you should consider these important aspects first:

•  Format. How will the piano lessons be delivered to you? If you're expected to watch a video from your PC and then turn to learn the piano, that may not work for you.

•  Cost. How much will you have to pay for your piano lesson instructions? How does that cost compare to other providers?

•  Return policy. If you aren't satisfied with your piano lessons, can you get your money back?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked several piano lesson providers. We hope you find these reviews helpful in finding the piano lessons that best fit your needs and learning style!

Learn and Master

LEARN AND MASTER

5 Stars

Cost:

$119 - $149

TopConsumerReviews.com 5-star Top Rated Product

Learn and Master was founded to create comprehensive multi-media training tools for those who want to learn at their own speed and from the convenience of their own home. Learn and Master provides piano lessons, as well as guitar, dancing, painting, and other training packages. Over $1 million goes into each training guide to create and produce quality materials that ensure great results for the consumer. Steve Krenz, a degreed and professional musician, is the moderator and trainer on each piano lesson DVD and goes into detail on the session's material, with additional tips, and encouragement along the way.

With Learn and Master you may choose from three different piano lesson packages based on your needs:

•  A basic package for true piano playing beginners

•  A more advanced package for those piano players who want to extend their learning beyond the basic package, or who already have some basic piano training

•  The Expanded piano lesson edition, which contains an additional 10 DVD's. These include songs, exercises, and workshops to supplement each of the 20 sessions that are contained in the original course.

Learn and Master also offers a home school package that is geared more for children and is crafted for a parent to help teach the piano.

Upon purchase you'll quickly receive a package that includes a well organized set of professional DVD's and music books. Learn and Master has built their piano lesson training to be fun and easy to follow, as new skills build on top of the previous.

This piano lesson program is very fairly priced and will last for years to come. Learn and Master also offers a payment plan to reduce your cost from one lump payment to 3 or 4 as you prefer.

In the event that you aren't satisfied with the piano training they offer a 60-day return policy for a full refund of your purchase price. This is a very customer-friendly return policy and indicates their confidence that you'll be satisfied with the product. Course materials must be in like-new condition with no scratches or markings.

Another nice feature of the Learn and Master piano lesson program is the online community offered through the website. Instructors are available to answer questions and provide support through online forums, email, or by phone. Students can also discuss their progress with peers and interact with other students.

For a very good price, Learn and Master provides well organized, high quality, leading-edge piano training geared to meet the specific needs of each individual student. With training provided in DVD format you can easily place a TV in the same room as the piano and begin your lessons. We were extremely impressed with every aspect of Learn and Master's offering. From training geared towards both adults and kids, a good return policy, and a stable company, Learn and Master clearly leads the pack.

Rocket Piano

ROCKET PIANO

3.5 Stars

Cost:

$99.95 - $199.95

Rocket Piano is multimedia piano curriculum specifically designed for beginners with little or no prior piano experience. Rocket Piano does its best to make learning fun as repeated lessons and drills can be boring for most. The Rocket Piano curriculum attempts to teach you piano skills quickly and gets you playing real music as soon as possible.

Your instructor is Ruth Searle, a classically trained pianist from Australia. With the training you receive 3 piano books, 133 audio files, 57 video lessons, a software game for teaching how to read music, software for teaching how to read piano chords off staff music, Rocket Piano Virtual Metronome software and some bonuses. This start to finish training concept provides training for beginners to learn via a multimedia approach. Training is flexible with your choice of downloaded files or DVD's, CD and physical work books.

Rocket Piano comes with a 60 day money back guarantee and an actual customer service department to answer questions. The trainer, Ms. Searle, has a bachelor of arts in music, has won an Australasian award for composition, and has experience performing in many different styles of piano.

With a more thorough approach to training, an extensive training plan and physical material for those that prefer to learn differently, Rocket Piano provides a satisfactory, yet expensive training program.

Piano For All

PIANO FOR ALL

2 Stars

Cost:

$79.50

Piano For All comes with a lot of promises but is it worth your time and money? Piano For All provides 200 videos, 500 audios in ebook format that you download to your computer. They also offer an optional CD rom and a lot of sales pitch.

Piano For All was written by Robin Hall. We're unsure of his credentials and education. This appears to be a one man shop with the only customer service available through email to Robin himself. The product comes with a 60 day money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied. We assume you email Robin for that but are unclear given the lack of information and professionalism on the website.

Training is provided in ebook or CD rom format. The training starts by teaching you rhythm style piano which is considered by Robin Hall as relatively easier to learn but sounds like real piano playing. That statement alone brought us much concern. You go on to learn more advanced "playing" through a 10 stage course.

Unfortunately, in our view the company lacks professionalism and authenticity, and the claims of learning quick seem unreasonable. We recommend you choose a higher ranked program.

Piano Cash Pro

PIANO COACH PRO

1.5 Star

Cost:

$29.95

Piano Coach Pro provides little for you money. You may anticipate downloaded mp3 lessons lasting approximately 30 minutes as well as some music theory. While the site states they regularly update with new material we didn't find that was the case during the period we reviewed the product.

The training seems to teach at a high level and cover the very basics but without enough information for understanding. The video quality is poor and hard to follow while you’re trying to learn to play the piano. The lack of professionalism and authenticity of this training is really evident in the final product.

Piano Coach Pro comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. We had concerns regarding the professionalism of this site and the lack of customer service. We tried to contact them regarding a question and never heard back.

All in all, Piano Coach Pro seems to look for the suckers in all of us and prays on those looking for a good deal. With little substance in their training, poor quality materials and a lack of professionalism, we recommend you select a higher ranked product for your piano training needs.

Instrument Master

INSTRUMENT MASTER

1 Stars

Cost:

$29.95

The price might grab your eye, but you need to better understand what Instrument Master provides in order to make a well informed decision. At $29.95 you'll receive an MP3 formatted lesson or, downloaded lessons in PDF file formats and some video training for both piano and violin. The website is littered with adds and promotions with takes away from the professionalism of the site as well as the validity of their intentions.

Additionally, The site is also full of big promises of grand proportions. The “bonuses” seem to be lip service only and lack authenticity and the quality of the higher ranked products. The piano training was awkward and lacking effective techniques and details. The video quality was poor and unimpressive.

We were unable to get a response from the makers of Instrument Master despite their claims to have a customer team. In the event that you’re unhappy you may return the product within 60 days of purchase. We’re not confident this operation will be around to return your purchase but that is the stated return policy.

With poor quality training, lack of tangible materials, and heavy sales efforts, we were not impressed with Instrument Master. We recommend you purchase from a higher ranked provider that provides legitimate piano training.
