TJ Formal is a large US based company with an excellent reputation that has been around for over 40 years. They carry a very large selection of wedding dresses, mother-of-the bride dresses, prom dresses and much more.
The prices at TJ Formal are very competitive, especially for the quality of the wedding dresses they provide. For example, they offer over 80 attractive wedding dresses for under $300. For those who can spend a little more, they feature 900+ wedding dresses priced from $300 all the way up to $2,000. Keep in mind, these are the same wedding dresses that you'll find priced much higher at local retail
stores.
Wedding dresses at TJ Formal are organized by designer and style. The search options work flawlessly and are useful in helping you narrow down your selection.
We spoke with a customer service representative who was very friendly and knowledgeable. She assured us that the wedding dresses seen online in the pictures from the designer are the same wedding dresses that the customer receives. They are not knock-off styles like many of the other, lower ranked offshore companies we reviewed.
TJ Formal has the most extensive FAQ section of all the companies we reviewed. It contains helpful information on ordering, inventory, measurements, payment, and much more. They also provide dresses for other wedding attendees, such as bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, and mother of the bride dresses. We thought it very convenient that you can do all of your
wedding dress shopping at one place.
As far as shipping costs for your wedding dress, TJ Formal offers free ground shipping on all orders. We found this pleasantly surprising and is another factor that makes TJ Formal stand out from the crowd.

This US based company has over 2,500 wedding dresses to choose from, offered by a large selection of designers. Their website boasts that all their wedding dresses are 100% Authentic Manufacturer
Designs.
The best way to search for wedding dresses is through the Advanced Search feature that helps narrow down your viewing selection. The search functionality on the website is a bit cumbersome at times.
PS Bridal offers a Low Price Guarantee stating that if you find the exact same wedding dress for a cheaper price, they will beat the price by 5%. This is a consumer-friendly feature that we'd like to see more companies offer.
A flat shipping rate of $15 is charged for all wedding dresses shipped via UPS Ground. For plus size wedding dresses, they offer one of the best return policies we found. If your wedding dress does not fit or you do not like it, you can return it within 5 days to receive a refund, less a $50 restocking fee. Misses-sized wedding dresses (size 0-14) are final sales and cannot be returned
or exchanged.
PS Bridal receives a strong rating due to their great selection of wedding dresses, good customer service, and consumer-friendly refund policy for plus size wedding dresses.

House of Brides is an online wedding store that has multiple retail locations in the Chicago area. Unlike some of the lower-rated companies in our review that feature knock-off designer wedding dresses, House of Brides sells the actual designer wedding dresses at discounted prices.
Interestingly, online prices for House of Brides are much cheaper than their retail locations. This is important, because they don't honor the internet prices in the stores. We found some poor reviews of the customer service in House of Brides stores, as well as complaints with delays in receiving wedding dresses when the stores had to order them directly. The owner of House of Brides
was also in the news recently for pleading guilty to fraudulent sales tax returns. It seems that ordering online is a better option than buying in the store.
The website is an average looking website. The search for your wedding dress can be narrowed down by many categories including designer, price,
neckline, waistline, fabric, sleeve length and much more. They do not offer alterations through their website and suggest that you try on the wedding dress at a bridal store before ordering to make sure the wedding dress is what you want. Of course, once you receive the wedding dress you can find someone locally who can make small changes for you.
Free shipping is offered on all wedding dress purchases. Unfortunately, House of Brides does not accept any returns whatsoever. Once the purchase is complete, the order cannot be cancelled or returned. That is a large risk, especially since some people may not be able to see the wedding dress in person.
Despite the good selection and fair pricing, House of Brides drops in our ratings due to some website functionality issues and the lack of any return policy.

Shopping Republic is a Chinese Wholesaler that was founded in 2008. Besides wedding dresses, they offer a wide variety of products including home decor, clothes, wigs, jewelry, art, skateboards and much more. Since they are such a new company, we were unable to find many consumers reviews when researching them online.
Shopping republic has a very clean website with good search options for
wedding dresses. All wedding dresses are made to order, whether you choose a standard size or have them make the wedding dress to your specific specifications. As we did not find any consumers reviews, we are not sure the quality of the wedding dresses received, but would lean toward questionable quality as other Chinese based companies tend that way.
There is a thorough FAQ's section that helps in selecting the right wedding dress for you and gives answers for many questions with the ordering, shipping and return process. Wedding dresses should be ordered 1-2 months before the date of the wedding as they are custom made to each order.
One confusing error in the FAQ section refers to Charlie's Bridal a few times instead of Shopping Republic. Charlie's Bridal is a separate wedding dress website that does have the same company contact information as Shopping Republic.
Shipping via Airmail Hong Kong is free. There are no refunds or exchanges on wedding dresses. Shopping Republic did not have negative customer feedback, but so much of their company and policies reflect the other Chinese based companies that we are hesitant to give them a recommendation.

Milanoo is another Chinese Wholesaler company. They offer a large selection of products beyond wedding dresses including costumes, holiday supplies, jewelry, wigs and much more.
The prices are very cheap, but the quality is very cheap as well. The wedding dress pictures shown on the website are pictures from designers. They are the template for what the wedding dress will be made to look like, but will not be the same wedding dress.
Many of the complaints we found included poor quality, wrong sizing (even when the accurate measurements are submitted for a custom wedding dress), and poor customer service when trying to return the wedding dress.
There is a nice reference section in the FAQ's about style advice for wedding dresses. It explains which styles of wedding dresses are best for different body types. Free shipping is offered for wedding dresses over $75. There is a 7-day return policy and a 15-day exchange policy for wedding dresses with "quality problem" - which is ultimately up to the company's discretion.
You need to be sure to read and be comfortable with the full return and exchange policy before making a purchase, as there is specific wording that can prevent you from returning your wedding dress.
Due to the poor quality of wedding dresses and customer service complaints, Milanoo receives a low rating.

Light in the Box is a Chinese Wholesale company with over 95,000 products that include wedding dresses, cell phones, health and beauty products, outdoor sports, and much more. The categories of wedding dresses are listed on the left side, offering many different options to select from. The website is organized well and has a clean look.
Each wedding dress ordered is either custom made or tailored to the customer's measurements. This causes the wedding dress to be shipped at a minimum of 16 working days from when the order is placed. The shipping costs vary based upon each item, they are calculated at checkout.
The website looks nice, but with a little more research about customer's experiences purchasing wedding dresses from Light in the Box, we have grave concerns about their quality of wedding dresses and customer service. There are more complaints listed about this company then any other company we reviewed. Many of the complaints have to do with the extremely poor
quality of wedding dress received, stating that the wedding dress pictured on the website does not reflect the quality of wedding dress received. The website states that the pictures shown with the model and the wedding dress are taken in their studios, but we found the same exact pictures listed on many other company's websites. These pictures in fact come directly from the wedding dress designers themselves, showing the falsehood in Light in the Box's claims. Other complaints involve trying to contact customer
service and not being able to get a hold of a real person. We repeatedly called the phone number listed and could not get a live person on the phone either.
The return policy makes the customer believe that it should be an easy process to return a wedding dress. However, we found many complaints that once a customer was able to get ahold of the company, they often received the run around and were told the wedding dress could not be returned.
There is too much negative feedback on this company for us to recommend it. With several better wedding
dress options available, we suggest you shop elsewhere.

Bridal Boulevard claims to have over 1,000 unique designed wedding dresses, and that their prices are about 80% off traditional bridal store prices. The website is simple - too simple - the search capabilities are less sophisticated than many of the other websites reviewed. They simply organize the wedding dresses into eleven main categories based upon the wedding dress style. Like
many of the other companies, there are basic wedding dress styles available, as well as alternatives such as maternity wedding dresses and celebrity inspired wedding dresses.
Similar to other Chinese companies, the wedding dresses are specifically tailored to your measurements. You should expect it to take up to 22 working days for you to receive your wedding dress. There is a flat fee of $14.99 for shipping.
Refunds are given only at the discretion of the company. The return policy as stated on the website is very strict and we feel most people would not fall under the qualifications for a refund.
We found significantly more complaints than positive experiences with Bridal Boulevard. Customers complained of terrible quality wedding dresses and extremely poor customer service. We made repeated calls and could not get a live person on the phone. We also repeatedly tried using the Live Chat feature that is advertised as being available 24/7, and were not able to get a customer
service representative there either.
Due to the numerous complaints, quality issues, and lack of customer service, we do not believe that Bridal Boulevard is a reliable option for purchasing your wedding dress.
