Relieve Your Allergies With Claritin Today! Which over-the-counter products deliver the best Allergy Relief? If you're one of the millions of Americans who struggle with itchy eyes and nose, sneezing, congestion and runny nose, or even hives and rashes associated with allergies, chances are you've tried many different products to tackle those symptoms.

Allergies come from a wide range of causes, ranging from seasonal triggers like pollen from trees and flowering plants, to environmental allergens like pet dander or dust mites. When your body detects those particles in your system and responds defensively with histamines, you experience all of the unwanted symptoms of an allergic reaction.

Xyzal

Cost:

$26.12 for an 80-day supply (80 tablets)

Xyzal is one of the newest over-the-counter Allergy Relief products on the market, offering 24-hour treatment of itchy nose and throat, watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose - whether those are due to seasonal allergies, pets, or other causes.

Good alternative

The active ingredient in Xyzal is Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride (5 mg). If you've tried Allergy Relief products that contain the commonly-used ingredients loratadine or diphenhydramine HCl but your allergic reactions still aren't under control, it might be a great time to try a new approach with a different medication. Because no two bodies respond the same to allergy treatments, the unique formula of Xyzal could be the key to alleviating your symptoms once and for all.

Fast acting allergy relief

This product claims to start working faster than almost anything else available today, with symptoms under control within an hour and with consistent relief throughout the course of the 24-hour period after taking the tablet. Customer comments support that, with many users saying that they can't believe how well Xyzal works. One of our favorite customer reviews said that there were a few days during the worst part of the allergy season that the user actually forgot that they had allergies at all!

Customers report drowsiness

One thing to keep in mind when using Xyzal for your allergy relief: many customers report that it has a similar drowsy effect to antihistamines like Benadryl. To counteract this, you may need to take the tablet at night, or cut the tablet in half and take some in the morning and some in the evening (or even just half at night). Some patients noticed moodiness as well when taking Xyzal. You'll need to experiment with your dosage until you find the right combination for your symptoms and monitor your reactions to the medication.

Best Allergy Relief

Tablet or liquid

In tablet form, Xyzal is recommended for patients ages 12-64. We're not sure why the manufacturer limits the upper end of that age range - senior citizens have allergies too! - but there's an alternative, liquid form of this medication for children ages 2 and up.

Very affordable

You won't break the bank to buy this product, either. Xyzal is priced at just over $26 for an 80-count bottle of tablets, giving you nearly a three-month supply (or longer, if you wind up using a half-tablet as described earlier). Most customers are eligible for free shipping, and a Subscribe and Save option can earn you discounts up to 15% for recurring deliveries. See the product website for more details.

No return policy

There's no clear return policy or satisfaction guarantee when buying Xyzal. The companies responsible for the product, Chattem Inc. and Sanofi, both have a good reputation, so we feel comfortable in assuming that customers have the ability to get a refund if the product doesn't work as promised.

Manufacturer location

But, one other thing we discovered while looking for Xyzal's refund policy is that the origin of the medication may vary. While product images on the online store showed Switzerland, some customers posted photos of their packages that indicated other countries of origin (like India). That probably doesn't matter to most customers but it's something to keep in mind.

Solid option

Dealing with allergies is frustrating at best. If you've tried all of the household name Allergy Relief products on the market to no avail, Xyzal offers you the possibility of true 24-hour control of your symptoms. While there are a few things to keep an eye on when using Xyzal, particularly drowsiness, this medication gives you a terrific alternative at an affordable price.

Aller-Aid

ALLER-AID

Cost:

$20.49 for a 22-day supply (90 capsules)

Aller-Aid is a product of Oregon's Wild Harvest. This Allergy Relief product is designed to help you boost your body's natural response to seasonal allergens before they become a problem.

Active ingredients

Active ingredients of Aller-Aid include Vitamin C, Quercetin, N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC), and Freeze-dried Organic Nettle. According to the manufacturer, Quercetin and Nettle work together "to support your body's normal histamine-producing response", while NAC helps antioxidant activity and mucus breakdown. We'd love to see more details about how those ingredients deliver Allergy Relief - maybe even a clinical trial or research study, too - but there's nothing on the product page like that.

Vegetarian capsules available

The capsules are non-GMO and vegetarian, and the product is free from dairy, wheat, gluten, peanuts, soy and corn. It's important to note that the label says the vitamin C is corn-derived, but customers with corn allergies said that they did not have a reaction to this product. Caveat emptor, though, if you have a corn allergy yourself. Similarly, we found alternate versions of Aller-Aid that use gelatin capsules (derived from bovine sources), so keep an eye out for that if it's important to you to have a strictly-vegetarian product.

Affordable pricing

Aller-Aid is taken in a 2-capsule dose, twice daily. That means that a standard 90-day bottle will only last about 22 days. But, at a per-bottle price of just $20.49 (and with free shipping for most customers), that's still a relatively affordable cost.

Recommended dose

For your first dose, the manufacturer recommends that you take one capsule and wait 24 hours if you've never taken Nettles before and are prone to allergies (which should apply to anyone using this for Allergy Relief, right?).

More preventative than instant allergy relief

How well does Aller-Aid work? From what we gathered through customer comments, it appears that this product works best if you take it before your allergy season begins - and don't miss a dose! That's to be expected from many natural remedies, since they tend to take a preventative approach rather than just reacting to symptoms as they pop up.

Plus, if your allergies aren't seasonal - maybe you need something whenever you visit Grandma's cats, or when someone around you has eaten peanut butter - Aller-Aid just isn't designed to deliver Allergy Relief in those cases.

Few customer reviews

We also didn't find a ton of user feedback on Aller-Aid: just a few dozen customer reviews. Compared with products that have been on the market for decades - and, accordingly, have hundreds or even thousands of reviews - that could leave you wondering about this supplement's effectiveness. Fortunately, Oregon's Wild Harvest backs their product with a 60-day return policy, giving you plenty of time to try it and evaluate it for yourself.

Good choice for specific use

Aller-Aid could be a very good remedy if you want to stop seasonal allergies before they are at their worst, and especially if you prefer a more natural approach to treatment. It's priced well and comes with a solid return policy, too. But, if you need something more tried-and-true, or if your allergies don't come from trees, flowers, and other growing things, you might not get much out of this product.

Continued from above

While most allergies don't come with life-threatening symptoms like restricted airways, they can still be extremely disruptive. It's hard to focus on work or school when you're constantly sneezing or running for a tissue, and who can sleep well when they're feeling itchy and irritated? Is it any wonder that so many people are desperate for an Allergy Relief product that works?

In the past, the most effective products for treating allergies were available only with a prescription. However, the majority of those medications are currently available at prescription strength as an over-the-counter product, making them much more affordable for the average consumer. These medications are generally safe and effective. But what if you've already tried them but still haven't gotten your allergies under control? Or worse, what if you've had a negative reaction? In that case, you may be interested to know that there are several homeopathic, natural products that have been used safely and effectively to deliver Allergy Relief - and at prices that are comparable to what you might have spent on more traditional medications.

Considering the wide range of Allergy Relief products on the market today, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by your options. As you decide which one might be a good fit for your needs and symptoms, here are several criteria to help you narrow down your choices:

  • Traditional or All-Natural. Is the capsule, tablet, nasal spray or tincture a product you might find at your local pharmacy, or does it take a more alternative approach to Allergy Relief? If you have a strong preference for one type of medication over the other, this is an important question to ask.
  • Method of Administration. Most Allergy Relief products come in pill or capsule form. Others are administered as a nasal spray or as a liquid you mix into a drink. How well can you tolerate the delivery mechanism of the product? This is especially relevant if you're trying to find the right treatment for a younger child.
  • Price. How much will you spend for your Allergy Relief? Bear in mind the recommended course of treatment for the product you're considering - if it's something you have to take over several months (e.g. for prevention of symptoms), you'll wind up spending more money than you would for a remedy used strictly as needed. Does the product give you a good value?
  • Effectiveness. What do other users say about the Allergy Relief medication? Did they experience any unwanted side effects? Did it work consistently to control their symptoms?
  • Return Policy. If you give the product a try and it doesn't deliver the relief you need, can you get a refund?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Allergy Relief products on the market today. We hope this information helps you get your sneezing, sniffling and itchiness under control soon, so that you can go back to living life to the fullest!
