Cost:

$29.99 - 1 bottle

Primatene MIST is one of the most well-recognized over-the-counter asthma relief products on the market. Although it was taken off the market for several years (because it used CFC propellants that were banned in 2008), this epinephrine-based medicine has been reformulated and was put back on the shelves in late 2018.

According to the makers of Primatene MIST, it should be used "for temporary relief of mild symptoms of intermittent asthma": shortness of breath, wheezing, and tightness in the chest. It isn't designed to prevent an attack, nor should it be used in place of a rescue inhaler.

As an asthma relief product, Primatene MIST is both effective and affordable. You'll pay less than $30 for 160 sprays. And, across hundreds of customer reviews, people say that they've gotten reliable, safe relief for mild asthma attacks.

We give Primatene MIST a 3-star rating because of its long history of use: doctors recommend it when prescription-based inhaler options aren't available (due to cost or other factors). It's also reasonably priced, making it more accessible for those who can't afford albuterol inhalers, or for people who need something right away (e.g. on vacation and can't get a refill).

But, because it's an epinephrine-based asthma product, it still comes with all of the drawbacks associated with that ingredient. Primatene MIST isn't recommended if you are taking prescription meds for depression, weight control, obesity or psychiatric conditions (specifically MAOIs), or if you're using any drug with phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine, ephedrine or caffeine (like OTC cold/pain/allergy meds). Epinephrine can also increase your blood pressure and/or heart rate, increasing the risk of stroke or heart attack.

Primatene MIST is a good option if you want a reliable way of fighting asthma symptoms and you don't have any of the contraindications we mentioned. However, if you're looking for something more natural or a product you can take to prevent asthma attacks before they begin, you'll need to look elsewhere.

When you first consider how BronchoSoothe works, you might feel a little confused. Described as "a combination of three biochemic cellular-supporting tissue salts", this tincture uses Kali phos, Mag phos, and Nat sulph to relieve that tightness in the chest you associate with an asthma attack. According to Native Remedies, the company that offers BronchoSoothe, this all-natural blend should help open your airways and experience better functioning of the lungs, bronchioles, and the rest of the respiratory tract. The homeopathic mixture is designed to establish a healthy balance of cellular-level salts in your body.

This asthma relief product is safe for use by people of all ages, and its tincture formulation makes it easy to administer by mixing with water and drinking or putting the drops right in the mouth. For adults, plan on taking 0.5 mL every 10 minutes during an attack, until symptoms subside; babies and children would use half that amount. You can also use BronchoSoothe as a preventative: the "maintenance dose" is the same, but used 3 times daily.

Another benefit of using this supplement to deal with asthma is that it doesn't interact negatively with any other medications. Whether you take an MAOI for depression or take OTC cough medication, you don't have to be worried that you're going to have a bad reaction. That's a big advantage over some of the products in our review.

BronchoSoothe is already priced affordably at $29.95 for a 59 mL bottle (approximately 40 days' supply), but you can get extra savings:: Native Remedies includes the product in their large inventory of "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" items, so you can either get several bottles at once, or see if there are other natural options you'd like to try too. If you think BronchoSoothe is effective enough that you want to make sure you always have it on hand, consider the automatic shipment option: you'll save 10% and get free shipping when you set that up to arrive every 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks. Finally, each time we visit the Native Remedies' online store, we get a pop-up offer with a 15% discount and free shipping on our next order if we sign up for their email list.

What do customers have to say about BronchoSoothe? In our last review, the product was in tablet form and got high marks from users. However, when the formulation changed to a liquid, many people said that they didn't get the same effective results as before. It still helps some users, but it's worth noting that it may not deliver as well as it used to.

Fortunately, all of Native Remedies' products are covered by the industry's most impressive satisfaction guarantee: you can try BronchoSoothe (or any other product) for up to a year and get a full refund if you're not completely satisfied. They ask that you try the product for at least 30 days before making your decision, because many of their supplements can take a few weeks to reach full effectiveness.

Although BronchoSoothe may not work as well in tincture form as it did when taken as a tablet, there are still people who get relief from their asthma symptoms when using it. And, because of Native Remedies' refund policy, it's truly risk-free to see if it works for you or your children.

Many of these options use all-natural ingredients to soothe your lungs and get you breathing normally, without the side effects that are so commonly experienced with prescription options. Plus, some of these products are administered as a tablet or oral liquid, eliminating the need to try and take a puff of an inhaler when you're already struggling to breathe.

It's important to realize, however, that not all Asthma products work in the same way. Some work to help prevent attacks from happening in the first place, while others operate more like a rescue option at the onset of breathing difficulties. As you consider the various alternatives to prescription medications, be sure you understand the intended forms that each one provides.

There are several other factors that can influence your decision when buying Asthma products. Some of these criteria include:

  • Price. What will you spend for a one-month supply? How does it compare with similar products on the market? Are there any discounts or promotions like free shipping that can make your purchase more affordable?
  • Method of Use. How do you administer the Asthma product? Whether it's inhaled, taken as a tablet or given orally as a liquid, is it a format that you can easily tolerate?
  • Reputation. What do users say about the Asthma product and the company that sells it? How well does the product work? If you don't get the relief you need, can you get a refund?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Asthma products available today. We hope this information helps you find the right product to help you breathe comfortably and get the relief you deserve!
