Auto Warranty in New York

Drivers in New York have found that obtaining a good auto warranty gives peace of mind in the event of necessary repairs. Auto warranties are a lot like health insurance; an individual purchases one with the hope that it will never be necessary to use it, but in the event of a crisis, having an auto warranty can save thousands of dollars.

Auto warranty businesses offer many types of policies. Some policies cover engine failure, transmission problems, brakes, or electrical components. Extended auto warranties may cover any repairs necessary if the driver is on a long trip. In addition, if an overnight stay is required while vehicle repairs are being done, the warranty may cover the cost of the motel and the meals. Other policies cover the costs of sending a tow truck to rescue a stranded vehicle, roadside assistance in the case of a dead battery, or provide coverage if a locksmith needs to be hired to open the locked vehicle and rescue the keys. Whatever situation is possible, there is an auto warranty to cover it.

Before making the decision to purchase an auto warranty, a buyer should first consider the reputation of the company. One of the best ways to do this is to check with the BBB. Accredited businesses with the BBB are required to maintain standards of integrity, including prompt response to claims and policy disputes, safeguarding privacy of customers, and honoring policy provisions. Businesses that have a rating lower than A- should not be considered.

In addition, a prospective buyer should look at how long the company has been in business. Established companies who have been in business for 10 years or more usually have a better track record than new businesses which may fold at any time. All this information can be found online at the BBB website.

Before purchasing an auto warranty in New York, a buyer should research businesses and policy options.
