Auto Warranty in California

California MapDid you know that replacing the engine in an SUV can cost anywhere from $7,000 - $10,000? Many car owners don't have this money readily available to shell out to the mechanic shop when the engine stops working. In addition, if the engine dies on an out of state trip, the individual is left with tow truck fees, hotel and meal fees, and repair fees. Having an auto warranty in place can provide coverage on all these costs.

Auto warranties in California provide many different aspects of coverage. Before making a decision to purchase the additional coverage, a buyer should read the entire warranty carefully, including the fine print. Some warranties cover large repairs such as the engine and transmission, while others only cover electronic parts. Usually an additional warranty is required to provide coverage that would pay the expenses if a breakdown happened on a trip. There are as many different auto warranty provisions as there are auto warranty companies.

Before purchasing an auto warranty from any company, a buyer needs to research the company. Check for any complaints with the BBB and keep in mind that reputable companies should have a rating of A- or higher. Ask how long the company has been in business. Experts recommend choosing a company that has been providing service to satisfied customers for at least 10 years.

If a company has only been in business for a short time, they haven't had much experience in processing claims and it may take longer to get the issue resolved. Also, if the company goes out of business, the service plan a buyer has been paying for is worthless. Confirming that the business is reputable and has a good history behind it will help to ensure that the buyer is covered in the event of vehicle repairs.

Californians have many options when it comes to choosing an auto warranty company; with a little research, an individual can find one that is right for their vehicle.
