Auto Warranty in Maryland

Maryland MapBefore purchasing an auto warranty in Maryland, a potential buyer should ask the company how long they have been in business. When it comes to honorably fulfilling warranties, experience counts. An auto warranty company needs to have at least 10 years of experience to be able to handle claims quickly. In addition, a new company has a greater chance of folding, which can leave the policyholder with thousands of dollars in vehicle repairs that are no longer covered by the auto warranty. Experienced businesses are usually still in business because they keep their customers happy.

In addition to ascertaining the amount of time a company has been in business, the buyer should check out the ratings the BBB gives them. The BBB requires all accredited businesses to follow certain requirements, such as responding quickly and professionally to customer's claims, safeguarding privacy, and honoring the terms of the warranty agreement. Any business that has less than an A rating should not be considered, as this means that a large number of customers have complained about the company.

A car owner should also ask how many customer complaints the business receives each year. Statistics report that fewer than 100 over the last 3 years is good, and less than 50 is excellent. Although few companies have a complaint rate of 0%, good companies focus on satisfying their clients.

Quality auto warranty providers allow the car owner to choose the shop which they want to take the vehicle to for repairs. They will allow the driver to choose from a list of licensed repair centers, which could include local repair centers, dealerships, and national chains. If an individual purchases a vehicle from out of town, the requirement to take the car to the dealership from which it was purchased for maintenance and repairs is extremely inconvenient. All these factors need to be taken into consideration before purchasing an auto warranty in Maryland.
