Auto Warranty in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania MapWhen purchasing a new vehicle in Pennsylvania, the buyer should understand all warranties that already provide coverage on the car. If the vehicle is brand new, it should come with a factory warranty, which will often provide bumper to bumper coverage and other benefits. A buyer should understand all provisions of this warranty before committing to buy, as many provisions of a bumper to bumper warranty go unclaimed simply because the owner is unaware that they exist.

If the vehicle is new and covered by a factory warranty, purchasing additional coverage may be counter-productive. Some dealers try to pressure a buyer into obtaining additional policies when buying a car, because there are financial benefits for the dealer. Different statistics and reasons may be cited in a high-pressure way to get the buyer to agree to an additional warranty. Some additional warranties do offer extra coverage and benefits, but most cover the same things that are protected under the factory warranty. An individual should be aware of the provisions of the factory warranty, and if an additional warranty is being considered, read it through in its entirety before agreeing to purchase.

In addition to understanding what is covered under the warranty, a buyer should become familiar with the reputation of the business providing it. The best indicator of the legitimacy of a business can be found online at the BBB website. Businesses that don't have an A rating from the BBB should not be considered. Additionally, any company that has been doing business with auto warranties for less than 10 years may not be the best choice, as new companies don't have experience in handling claims quickly and easily.

Also, an established company with satisfied customers is less likely to close its doors suddenly, leaving the policyholder responsible for paying repair bills that should have been covered under the auto warranty. Determining the reputation and the longevity of a business is important before making the decision to purchase an auto warranty.

Auto warranties keep many Pennsylvania drivers' cars running and in good shape; the trick is to purchase the right policy.
