Care started in 2006 and offers the largest database of caregivers for all of your babysitter, child care, tutoring, senior care, pet care, and personal assistant needs. Care goes above and beyond with a huge number of qualified babysitters in addition to a well-designed website.
Care allows you to search for babysitters for free. Once you get through a few questions to gain access, you can either get down to business and build a profile, or skip that section entirely and browse available babysitters in your area. You just type in your zip code and instantly a list of babysitters close to your home will appear. You can further refine your search by selecting from a number of criteria to meet your exact needs. We liked that you could fine-tune babysitter age, gender, pay rate, and language, as well as several more very specific options to find just the right babysitter for your needs. You can also look for babysitter training and experience, including handling children with behavioral challenges and disabilities, to find the very best match for your family.
Unique to Care is the free standard background check on all babysitters. This includes verifying the social security number and a search on criminal and sex offender records. You may also pay extra for a wider background search if you feel it's necessary.
At only $35 per month we felt that Care offers an excellent babysitter search service at an affordable price. We appreciated the free background check and the large database of potential babysitters. If you're looking for a quality babysitter for your family, Care should be your first stop. They earn our highest rating.
Sitter City is a well organized website that serves to connect babysitters, pet sitters, dog walkers, senior care, house sitters and more to those looking for assistance. In business since 2001, Sitter City provides care seekers a convenient online tool for searching and finding the right help aged 18 and older.
The availability of providers at Sitter City is diverse and expansive. However, in our babysitter provider search we didn't locate as many candidates as the highest ranked company. The results that did appear were not in order of location - we saw that as a downside. However, we found the babysitter information very informative and easy to use. Available are pictures, hourly prices, experience, availability, distance, general information, education and more.
Sitter City provides a standard background check on some care givers. If the individual you're interested in does not have a background check available you can pay $9.95 to have this completed. Background checks cover verifying the social security number, address, and any criminal and sex offender information.
Sitter City is an A+ Better Business Bureau rated company and allows you to try their services free for one week. Overall, Sitter City is a strong, well priced, choice for your care giver needs. We would have liked to have seen a background check on all providers and a little bigger selection but overall really liked the Sitter City service.
Phone a Babysitter is a Canadian based company and our first impression was that is lacked the professionalism we saw in higher ranked companies. However, after further research we found we liked a few aspects of the company.
If appearances were everything the Phone A Babysitter website would be a dud. But the simplicity of the concept is a positive. Phone A Babysitter is a no frill database of babysitters located across the US and Canada. Members and potential babysitters can both join for free. However, if you want access to contact them or vice versa one of the parties has to have a paid membership. The membership costs are very affordable at $29.95 for lifetime access.
To search for a babysitter in your area simply type in your zip code and the distance in which you're willing to search for child care. Next you'll find a list of available babysitters meeting the location and distance criteria. You'll learn the general location of where they live, their age, available working hours, hourly rate and a few more details.
Unfortunately no pictures are available to have a look-see of who you are potentially inviting into your house and life. Another down side is that you can't run a background check on the candidates and no referral information is listed. Also, the database at Phone A Babysitter is not overly impressive. We searched several cities and found, on average, between 20 and a hundred candidates. No additional search options were available to narrow the search.
Phone a Babysitter is a no frills database of potential babysitters. The price was right and in most cities we found available candidates. However, we didn't like the lack of search options, no pictures and no opportunity for background checks.
The days of easily finding a quality neighborhood babysitter are over. Today, working moms and dads find that their hectic schedules are not conducive with getting to know their responsible neighborhood teenagers. Finding a babysitter you can rely on, and that puts you at ease while away, is a rare find.
Instead, many parents use services where they can find quality babysitters, right in their neighborhood. For a fair price, you can review hundreds of profiles and pictures of qualified babysitters. Even those parents looking for babysitters to care for a child with behavior challenges or a disability can find good, experienced babysitters to choose from.
However, babysitter services can vary greatly in what they have to offer. Before you jump online to find a babysitter for your children, you should consider the following:
