Neutrogena is a household name in the beauty industry. Their roots date back to 1930 when Emmanuel Stolaroff first founded the company, then named Nanotone, a supplier of film-industry beauty salons. In 1954 they patented a clear liquid soap formula that easily rinsed off the skin, which launched their mission to make science-backed skincare accessible for all. The rest is history and Neutrogena now has hundreds of products for all skin types and concerns.
Award-winning products
Neutrogena is another company that gives you a few options when it comes to mixing and matching anti-aging products. They have 11 in total, mostly focusing on repairing wrinkles. They have creams, serums, and oils with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and retinol to give skin a smoother, more firm appearance and increase hydration. Some of our favorite products we found were their award-winning Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream, Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Pro+ Eye Cream, and Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Face Moisturizer with Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid.
Not direct-to-consumer
There are a lot of similarities between the anti-aging products offered by Neutrogena. Their names are similar and all of them target wrinkles, but we like the Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream because it is a good product to have in your toolbelt for fighting dullness, dark spots, and wrinkles. It can be used twice a day for maximum results. The product includes hyaluronic acid for plumping moisture to rejuvenate the skin. Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream comes in either a 0.5 fl oz jar for as little as $15.63 through some retailers. Their 1.7 oz jar sells for as little as $28 depending on which retailer you purchase through. Neutrogena lists all their products on their website, but they don't sell direct-to-consumer there.
Reduce crow's feet and dark circles
The Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Pro+ Eye Cream is formulated particularly for improving the look of crow's feet, fine lines, and wrinkles around the eyes. A small amount can be applied around the eyes at night and gently massaged into the skin. Neutrogena boasts that in one week you should see improvement of wrinkles and lines, but within 4 weeks the look of dark circles and puffiness should improve. This product starts at $22.29 depending on who you shop through.
Get a skin refresh while sleeping
We like a good night moisturizer that seals in hydration and goes to work while we doze off. The Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Face Moisturizer with Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid is meant to do just that using a combination of retinol SA, glucose complex, and hyaluronic acid. Some stores sell this 1 fl oz product starting at $15.81. To use Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Face Moisturizer, customers are instructed to apply a pearl-size amount evenly to the face and neck after cleansing.
Possible online ingredient list errors
The anti-aging products from Neutrogena don't contain parabens, mineral oils, or dyes. Full ingredient lists are posted with each product, but they aren't all necessarily "clean”, so be sure to read through them carefully. What we didn't love was the disclaimer that Neutrogena had posted saying that the lists on their website aren't guaranteed to be up-to-date, complete, or error-free. Since ingredients are one of the main things we look at when deciding what anti-aging product to purchase, it was disappointing to see that you'll have to refer to the actual product packaging for a 100% accurate list.
Varying return policies
Since Neutrogena doesn't sell their own products from their website, you'll likely be at the mercy of the company you buy through as far as a return policy. Most places offer 30-day returns, but keep in mind this usually means you can't use the product and send it back unopened. Such return policies only allow you to return new, unused, and unopened products.
Trial and error
Neutrogena has nothing to brag about when it comes to their Better Business Bureau rating, which is a lousy "F”. But, they have hundreds of reviews on their online products, most of which seem to fall around 4.4 out of 5 stars, which isn't bad. Neutrogena isn't known for being a really high-end skincare line, but rather something that works decently and is affordable for everyone. It might take some trial and error to see if you feel that a particular product is really effective or not.
Not a favorite
Neutrogena isn't one of our favorite places to find anti-aging products because their products are similar to what you might find elsewhere, only with added ingredients that may be unnecessary. We aren't confident that what they sell is any more effective than what other skincare stores in our evaluation are selling. Since you can't buy directly from Neutrogena, you may have to shop around to find a collection of their products that you want to try. Overall, we just aren't as excited about the anti-aging creams we've found here as we have been in other places.
We all know that there are key ways to protect our skin and keep us looking our best, like staying hydrated, wearing sunscreen, keeping our skin moisturized, eating a healthy diet, and managing stress. But are there any products that can keep us looking young? Although there is no magic solution to turning back the clock, there are quite a few products you can purchase that can easily be applied to your skin to tame existing wrinkles, prevent new ones, even out your skin tone, and brighten your appearance.
Anti-aging creams are topical and take seconds to apply. Some products might work best if you use them multiple times throughout the day, while others work sufficiently if you just use them in the morning. The key is always consistency here, since it can take time to see the effects of a new skin regimen. Try not to skip a day, and be patient when waiting for results since it can take time for a solution to do its work deep in your skin, especially if it's a gentle, natural formula.
There are a plethora of products on the market all promising to essentially do the same thing - provide anti-aging effects. So what should you be looking for when you're looking at all the options? It's not a comprehensive list, but some of the most widely accepted ingredients that help with anti-aging include vitamin C, retinol, collagen, hyaluronic acid, retinol, jojoba oil, and green tea. There are quite a few combinations of ingredients that make a powerhouse formula for keeping you looking fresh and young, but these are some key things you might hope to find in your anti-aging cream.
We've done a lot of research about some of the most popular anti-aging creams on the market. If you want to avoid botox or any sort of expensive, risky, high-maintenance procedures, these are safe alternatives that could do wonders for you. We highly recommend checking out our highest rated ones and giving them a try for a few months before deciding if you need to do anything more drastic.
