Nothing heightens the anticipation of a new baby and makes it feel more real than creating a nursery in your home. From the pictures on the walls to the rug on the floor and baby clothes hanging in the closet, every detail creates a safe, cozy place for you to nurture your new baby. The biggest item you'll need to purchase for your baby's room is a crib. This is the focal point of the room and also the item that will get the most use over time.
If you're new to the parenting world, you're probably thinking that there aren't very many variations of cribs. Wrong! You'll soon begin to realize that there are so many options of crib colors, styles, and even features to choose from to fit your style and budget. Some cribs are very simple, with clean edges, a single color, and little to no features. Others are more ornate, come in a variety of colors, and can transition from a crib to a toddler bed with your growing child.

Wayfair is an online shop where you can find nearly everything you can think of to furnish your home from the inside out. They frequently have sales on their items that are already priced lower than what you might find somewhere else. Wayfair carries name-brand items, ensuring you always have stylish choices to select from. There are over 570 baby cribs listed on Wayfair's easy-to-navigate site, giving customers plenty of choices, many of them highly-rated and under $200. We like everything Wayfair has to offer for baby cribs, so they've earned our highest rating.
Walmart isn't always known for having the most fancy brands or highest quality products, but they do offer a hard-to-beat selection with budget-friendly prices. Their product reviews offer a great way for you to find a long-lasting, durable crib that others have loved as well. Depending on the crib, you have 30-90 days for returns and you can take anything back to your nearest Walmart store for free. Walmart is a surprisingly solid choice for baby cribs, so they've earned one of our highest recommendations.
Ashley is a well-established furniture store that has a great selection of classy, simple, affordable baby cribs. Whether you want a convertible crib, mini crib, or one with an attachable changing station or storage, Ashley has great options. Starting at just $139, Ashley's pricing feels really comfortable. They offer a 30-day return policy and free shipping on all their cribs too. Along with a great rating from the Better Business Bureau ("A+”), we also recommend Ashley when you're in the market for cute, high-quality baby cribs.
Buy Buy Baby was once owned by Bed Bath & Beyond until their big bankruptcy changes in 2023. Dream On Me, a new company, has since taken over the Buy Buy Baby retail chain to rebuild the retailer and return it to the company we're all familiar with. They have a good selection of cribs that fall within different price ranges to meet a range of budgets. We like that there are unfiltered customer reviews on these cribs, so we suggest that customers read through them before making a purchase. Some perks of shopping at Buy Buy Baby are their price-match guarantee and a 60-day return policy, which is more generous than many competitors. Besides some issues with their customer service, we don't see any reason not to give their crib selection your consideration. We like what Buy Buy Baby has to offer, so they've earned a good rating from us.
Pish Posh Baby is a darling store with high-quality, modern items for new parents. Their customer satisfaction is better than what we've seen from most other places based on their fabulous products, amazing customer service, and quick shipping times. But when it comes to their crib selection, there isn't much to choose from. There are only 19 options, some of which are out-of-stock. They have also made all the cribs final sale, so you can't plan on making a return if you feel like you overspent or change your mind about the design you want. We like Pish Posh Baby as a company, but their crib selection isn't the best.
Crate & Barrel is an upscale retailer specializing in furniture and home goods. They have a small but mighty selection of cribs ranging from $399 to $1,399. Their cribs are beautiful and unique, but come with high prices and potentially difficult and expensive returns. Customers rate the cribs here very highly and Crate & Barrel has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but reviews about their customer service are terrible. We'd definitely be concerned about communication with this company if we needed to sort out an issue. Although the cribs here are high-quality, GREENGUARD gold certified, and classy, we don't love their prices or poor customer reviews.
Delta Children is a popular brand that you can find through many retailers. Their store features almost 50 cribs, some of which have to be purchased through other stores. Delta Cribs has a high standard for safety and guarantees that their products are free of toxins, heavy metals, lead, and other dangerous substances. You can only return one of their cribs if it wasn't part of a set or on sale or purchased with a discount code. Even then, it may incur a 30% restocking fee and incur return shipping charges. Delta Children has an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau and poor customer ratings regarding their customer service team. Our advice is to purchase their products from other stores to avoid issues, if you even bother buying a Delta Children crib at all.
Bed Bath and Beyond is a brand most of us are familiar with. As their name suggests, they have a big selection of everything from bedroom decor, bathroom essentials, and nearly anything else you might need to decorate and furnish your home. Their crib selection includes over 250 choices, many of them coming in under $350, allowing for many affordable options. Shipping is free and you can send back your crib within 30 days if you're unhappy with it (though shipping may be costly). Bed Bath and Beyond isn't anything special or unique, but they have solid options. The reason we aren't thrilled with them is due to their long list of negative customer reviews about issues with product quality, shipping delays, and poor customer service. After a tumultuous couple of years, Bed Bath and Beyond has suffered the pains of change and has a lot of work to do to improve customer satisfaction.
Macy's is a fantastic, reliable retailer when it comes to many items. If you're looking for baby strollers or clothing or even outdoor furniture, you might be surprised at how big of a selection they have. But when it comes to baby cribs, we were underwhelmed. There are very few choices and most of them come in a simple white or brown color without any unique features. Most cribs here are around $300, but luckily Macy's offers free shipping and returns. They have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau and good product reviews, but there isn't much to see here, so we wouldn't waste your time.
ABaby is a store that boasts about their collection of cribs, bassinets, and baby cradles, but we found that they had hardly anything to offer. There are a few basic, unimpressive-looking wood baby cribs along with some ornate, extravagant-looking cribs made of iron that cost up to $5,000. Overall, there are just 10 options for baby cribs here. None of them have customer reviews, you'll pay for shipping, and since many of the cribs are made-to-order, you can't return them. We were really underwhelmed by ABaby and wouldn't suggest turning here for a high-quality selection of baby cribs.
There really are three types of cribs you might consider when you're browsing online. Many parents have their baby sleep in a small bassinet by their bed for the first few months of the baby's life to simplify feeding, sleep routines, and for peace of mind. Once you and your baby are ready, you might opt for a larger, stationary crib for the baby's bedroom. The third type of crib that will come in handy often is a simple pack-n-play. This is a much smaller, often inexpensive crib option that makes it easy to pack up and travel with ease.
We recommend that when you're searching for cribs, it might be a good idea to get one of each - a stationary crib, and a travel crib. This way you can have a bassinet for the first few months of adjustment and transitioning, then a beautiful crib to fit your room decor and your growing baby while having a pack-n-play to throw in the trunk of your car and take with you when you're on-the-go.
Some companies will offer major sales on their baby gear every so often, so this would be a great way to save some money on a crib. Shopping online will allow you to easily compare prices between retailers, see all the details and features of the crib, and not have to go store-to-store to see what type of selection everyone has. There are quite a few stores to choose from that have a great selection of cribs, so keep the following things in mind when choosing who to go with:
