One of the most important and memorable times of your life will be bringing your newborn baby home from the hospital. Leading up to that day you'll be prepping endlessly to make sure your baby has everything they will need to be comfortable and safe as they grow. This will include clothing, a stroller, car seat, baby carrier, swing, changing table, bath items, a baby monitor, and so much more.
Of course, you'll need a baby crib most of all! This is where your child will spend much of their time resting their tired little eyes, cuddled safe and warm. There are many things to consider when choosing the perfect crib for your nursery. For example, there are different colors of wood and frame shapes that cater to a variety of styles that can be paired with cute crib sheet patterns. However, one of the most important criteria to remember when selecting a crib is safety.

Wayfair was founded in 2002 and is one of the largest home retailers in the world. They have served over 29 million customers and are home to over 22 million products. They carry hundreds of products in nearly every home goods category including bedding and bath, rugs, pillows, decor, organization, lighting, kitchen, home improvement, and more.
Amazing options
Whether you're looking for a contemporary, farmhouse, classic, or mid-century modern crib, Wayfair will have something for you among 700 cribs. They have beautiful options that come in a long list of colors. You can shop for cribs by color, price, material, and customer ratings. Wayfair's website is professional and easy to browse, making it fun to look for cribs here.
Make informed decisions
Most of the cribs come in sets, meaning you could also purchase a matching dresser, changing station or nightstand to complete your nursery look. This is optional, of course, but it's nice to have other furniture suggestions. Each product description also comes with a simple overview that includes details about whether or not the mattress height is adjustable, if it includes a conversion rail or mattress, the type of wood it is made of, weight capacity, and size. You'll have plenty of information to make an informed buying decision at Wayfair.
Expert assembly offered
Like any cribs you'll find online, you'll have to assemble your Wayfair crib once it arrives. However, if you want to make life easy for yourself, you can pay $74.99 for expert assembly and skip the hassle of putting it together.
Unbeatable prices
One of the best parts about shopping at Wayfair is you can find the latest styles for low prices. Oftentimes products are on sale, but even at full price, you won't find more affordable prices anywhere else. There are hundreds of great options for under $300. Some cribs have thousands of customer reviews, almost always nearly 5 out of 5 stars that describe the quality of the crib, plus include photos and helpful information about the buying and shipping process.
30-day return policy
All orders over $35 ship for free, so you don't have to worry about paying an arm and a leg to get your crib. You can return any purchase within 30 days of delivery for a refund or store credit if you change your mind about your order. However, items that have already been assembled are disqualified from the return policy, and no matter what you will be responsible for the cost of shipping.
Make Wayfair your go-to store
On top of positive customer reviews on each of the cribs, the Better Business Bureau gives Wayfair an "A+" rating. We are impressed with how many cribs you have to choose from here that reflect what we've seen from high-end retailers. This company will give you the most bang for your buck and works hard to ensure customer satisfaction. We highly recommend using Wayfair as your go-to store for cribs - or any other types of home furniture. They've earned our highest rating.
Walmart is a multinational retail corporation headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas. They operate over 4,700 stores throughout the United States and are one of the most well-known brands in the world. They sell food, clothing, furniture, electronics, toys, beauty essentials, household products, and an endless amount of other items. It's hard to think of something you can't buy at Walmart.
Fantastic choices
You'll find one of the biggest selections of baby cribs at Walmart. Their 991 options include crib and changer combos, convertible cribs, mini cribs, standard cribs, cradles, nursery sets, and portable cribs. You can narrow down your options by delivery speed, color, crib type, price, brand, and ratings. You're sure to have more than enough choices here.
Detailed product descriptions
Most cribs come in a few different colors, so if you find a style you like, you'll have additional options to ensure it is the perfect match for your nursery. Walmart displays multiple pictures of each crib with thorough product details to make sure you know the weight and size of the product. Information about mattress compatibility and alternative uses are included as well as suggestions for furniture pairing.
Everyday low prices
Walmart sticks by their slogan, "Save Money. Live Better." It's hard to compete with Walmart's prices, which means you'll be able to score the most affordable cribs. Ranging from $140 - $430, no cribs are outrageously priced. There are hundreds of options under $200. Sometimes low prices means low quality, but since customers have the ability to leave product reviews, it gives reassurance that people are overall satisfied with what is sold here.
Fast delivery and 90-day returns
When you're viewing any given crib, you'll be able to see an estimated delivery date. Most cribs ship within three days and all of them qualify for free shipping. Walmart has a 90-day return policy and they make it easy to return items big or small. You can take your crib to your local Walmart and return it for free without having to pay restocking fees.
Great place to purchase a crib
Walmart has an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau. Their selection of cribs includes a wide variety of styles and is affordable enough to cater to most customers. We are confident that parents will be satisfied with what is offered at Walmart. This is a great place to purchase a crib and the policies here make it easy to ship and return any items you buy. We've given Walmart one of our highest ratings for baby cribs.
Macy's stands alongside their sister companies Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury as a premier fashion retailer in the United States. The company is based out of New York, New York and was founded in 1858. Although they're often thought of as primarily a clothing store, they sell furniture of all kinds as well as jewelry, travel gear, and beauty products.
Sort the selection
Among dining furniture, mattresses, patio furniture, bedroom sets, and office products, Macy's has over 80 cribs and bassinets on their website. You can sort them by shipping and pickup options, type, brand, material, color, and price. Each product page displays multiple pictures of the crib and any additional functionalities it has, like converting into a toddler bed. Customers have the ability to leave reviews on each crib, which is helpful.
Decent prices, $50 shipping
At the time of this review, all the cribs at Macy's were 10% off. Because many of them were already on sale, this additional 10% off made them significantly less expensive. Since you can sort them by price, it's easy to view the selection that fits your budget, with the majority priced between $250 and $500. The cost for shipping on most cribs is $50. Some cribs might be available for pickup at a store near you, but we didn't have any luck with this.
30-day furniture return policy
Macy's has a generous 90-day return policy on most products, except furniture. You'll have 30 days to send your crib back by mail and be responsible for the shipping fees, which we imagine can get quite pricey. In addition, a 15% return fee will be charged. So if you're ordering a crib from Macy's, be sure to check the dimensions and color so you don't have to deal with the hassle of returning it.
Mixed reviews
Even though Macy's has an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, it's hard to overlook the thousands of negative reviews they've received. Unhappy customers will always exist for one reason or another when you're dealing with stores as big as Macy's that have both brick-and-mortar stores as well as an online shop. Reasons for the bad reviews varied from slow delivery and damaged products to messy stores and rude customer service representatives. There wasn't one single glaring issue that Macy's seems to be experiencing, but rather a range of random problems that customers have had to deal with.
Solid choice
We're confident that Macy's is a reliable store and can deliver what they show on their website. Having traditional neighborhood stores gives you an option to see their merchandise in person if that makes you more comfortable. Although their selection isn't super impressive, they have many practical options. Macy's is a good option for your baby crib needs.
Ashley HomeStore got its humble beginning in Wisconsin and has grown to be one of the most well-known furniture and mattress stores in the US. There are over 2,000 chain locations worldwide and they recently celebrated their 75th anniversary. Whether you're looking to furnish your kitchen, nursery, or patio, Ashley has a huge selection of furniture to get the job done. You can also purchase accessories like rugs, lighting, and other types of home decor here.
Over 100 options
There are 103 cribs to choose from at Ashley. Most of them are very simple designs that come in neutral colors like grey, white, and brown. They have quite a few convertible options that can be used as toddler beds, daybeds, and full-size beds. Each product description gives detailed information about all the dimensions, the type of wood the crib is made of, weight, product reviews, and how to contact customer service if needed.
Affordable options and payment plans
Many of the cribs at Ashley are on sale, making it easy to find a crib for under $500. There are even some highly-rated cribs for under $200, which is a great deal. If you're looking at one of the more expensive options, Ashley offers a 12-month special financing plan that allows you to make consistent payments over a year and pay off your crib without any interest. They also offer 10% off your purchase if you sign up for emails. No matter how you do it, you won't have to break the bank if you choose to buy a baby crib at Ashley HomeStore.
Price match guarantee
If you happen to find an identical crib from a different online retailer at a lower price than Ashley has it listed for, they will price match it. As long as it is in-stock through the other retailer (specific qualifying retailers are listed on Ashley's website), you can contact customer service for the lower price.
Quick shipping and installation options
You'll get free shipping on almost all the cribs at Ashley, which is great. On top of this, most cribs are ready to ship within 3-5 days, so you won't have to wait long until it arrives at your home. All of the cribs need to be assembled upon arrival, but you can pay an additional $101.50 for expert assembly and installation if you don't want to do it yourself.
Return within 30 days for a refund
Ashley HomeStore accepts the return of new and unused items within 30 days if you want a refund. The customer is responsible for return shipping fees if the return isn't being made because of a product defect.
Delivery issues
The Better Business Bureau gives Ashley HomeStore an "A+" rating. The most shocking thing we found was how bad some customer reviews of the store are. They don't necessarily reflect crib selection or quality, but many people have had issues with receiving partial orders, the wrong order, or even receiving damaged items. This isn't the report from everyone, but an overwhelming amount of people seem to have experienced quality issues through Ashley HomeStore over the last year or two.
We think they're worth it
If you find something you really love at Ashley for a good price, you'll probably be just fine ordering it. After all, their prices re affordable and their store has a customer focus with their payment plans and price match guarantee. Just keep in mind that you may have to be patient with their delivery process.
Crate & Barrel is an international destination for modern and contemporary furniture, housewares and decor. They are a sister company to CB2 and Crate & Kids, a brand that focuses on children's decor. You'll find the most sleek, posh, up-to-date styles at Crate & Barrel in lighting, rugs, furniture, bedding, outdoor products, and more.
Small but sufficient selection
There is a small and basic selection of cribs available through the Crate & Kids website. There are only 12 options, but each one is appealing and varies slightly in design. All of them come in neutral colors like brown, olive green, white, black, soft pink, or gray. Some of them are convertible and can be used as toddler beds down the road, some are bassinets, and others are full-size cribs.
Designer prices
You'll get high-quality, modern products at Crate & Barrel, but you'll also pay a price to reflect that. We noticed that some cribs available through their store are similar to what we've seen on other websites for a cheaper price. For a simple, wicker bassinet you'll be paying $299 and the cheapest full-size crib is $499. The most expensive crib is $1,299, so you should expect to pay designer-like prices here. If you submit your phone number for their subscriber list, you'll get a code for 10% off, which is absolutely worth doing.
Expensive shipping
On top of paying expensive prices at Crate & Barrel, you will likely have to pay for shipping as well. Unless you happen to live near one of their physical locations or warehouses and can get free curbside pickup, you can expect a shipping cost of nearly $80. It's disappointing that they don't offer free shipping like many of their competitors.
Short refund window
If you change your mind about a crib you purchase from Crate & Barrel, you'd better act fast. You only have 7 days from delivery to contact customer service and initiate a return. At that point the furniture needs to be sent back within 30 days. You'll be paying expensive return shipping since they don't accept furniture returns in-store.
Lovely place to shop, but maybe not for cribs
There's no doubt that Crate & Barrel is a lovely place to shop. Their selection of home decor and furnishings is simply beautiful. You can read customer reviews on individual cribs and other products, which are usually impressively high. They also have an "A-" rating from the Better Business Bureau. If you are willing to pay higher prices and buy a baby crib here, you won't have to worry about quality or design. Their selection of cribs is very small, so this won't be the most fruitful place to turn, but it's worth looking into if you are set on buying something modern.
Bed Bath & Beyond has it all in the name. If you're looking for a shower curtain, dining room chairs, or even a thermostat for your home, Bed Bath & Beyond will have it. Their selection of products is huge and seems to cover any category of home essential you might need. Their chain stores can be found throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Bed Bath & Beyond was founded in 1971 and they are counted among the Fortune 500 and Forbes Global 2000.
Filter selection and read reviews
There are over 150 cribs that come in colors like brown, black, navy, pink, white, and gray that you can choose from at Bed Bath & Beyond. You can sort the inventory by color, price, style (farmhouse, transitional, traditional, modern, mid-century modern, and more), finish, embellishment, brand, and ratings. It's helpful that most of the cribs have quite a few reviews left by customers to give you an idea of the quality, delivery experience, and other important features of the crib.
Stay within a budget
Since you can shop for cribs by price, it allows you to stay within a budget at Bed Bath & Beyond. The cribs range anywhere from $129 to $1,099 with the majority of them being in the $101 to $200 category and $401 to $500 category. These prices are competitive with what we've seen from other online stores. If you spend over $39 (which you will), shipping is free.
Price match guarantee
In the event that you find an identical crib through a competitor, Bed Bath & Beyond will match their price if it's lower. It must be an identical item and cannot be on clearance or closeout. You can present the competitor's ad or website to an associate in-store for the discount or call a customer service representative for the price adjustment.
90-day return policy
Bed Bath & Beyond offers a longer return policy than we've seen through some other retailers. If you want to send your crib back, you'll have 90 days to do so. If you provide your receipt, you'll be eligible for an exchange or refund, whichever you prefer.
Poor BBB rating
We were surprised to find that the Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives Bed Bath & Beyond a failing "F" rating. According to the BBB, this is because of their failure to respond to over 29 complaints about the company and they still have a list of unresolved issues. For such a big, reputable company, we would like to see Bed Bath & Beyond take more initiative and do a better job with their customer service.
Negative customer reviews
Alongside this bad BBB rating, there are thousands of poor customer reviews about Bed Bath & Beyond that aren't helping their reputation. Over the last couple of years, there have been issues with customers receiving the wrong orders, deliveries being extremely delayed, having orders canceled over and over again, slow communication from customer service, and many other problems.
Struggling in recent years
At one time, Bed Bath & Beyond was the go-to store for many people looking to furnish their homes. They are a well-known company that has an impressive selection of products, but seem to be struggling in recent years. Even though they have a decent amount of cribs, we can't guarantee that you'll be happy with the end result of your purchase or be spared from delays and other issues, so it is best to shop at a more reputable store.
aBaby has been selling bedding, nursery decor, mattresses, play-time products, furniture, and personalized gifts online since 1998. Although their website is outdated and could badly use a makeover, there is a big selection of unique and fun gifts for children from brands like BabyDoll, KidKraft, Lulla Smith, Newport Cottages, Badger Basket, and many more.
Poor crib selection
Although there is a wide range of baby products to be discovered at aBaby, their crib selection is disappointing. There are 69 cribs to choose from (not all in stock), but some have old-fashioned vibes that might not be everyone's cup of tea. They are lacking simple, modern options among the selection of ornate, frilly, fairy-tale themed cribs.
Customization options
Many of the cribs come in a long list of colors and accent colors, so you can somewhat create your own style of bed that fits the color scheme you're going for. Some have the option to add accessories like a toddler guardrail to make the crib transitional as the child gets older. They all require assembly upon arrival, are made in the USA, meet US safety standards, and are made of non-toxic finishes.
Expensive crib choices
On top of having a somewhat odd selection of baby cribs, the prices at aBaby are quite high. You can buy a Cinderella carriage crib for $4,655 or a basic wood-framed convertible crib for $1,199. Regardless of the crib you choose, you'll easily be paying over $1,000 at aBaby, which is frankly unnecessary when some higher-rated retailers sell cribs for a lot less.
Slow shipping and 30-day returns
Most cribs ship in 12-16 weeks, which may be a bit longer than some parents can wait. Thankfully shipping is free so you don't have to worry about that added cost on top of the crib price. If you aren't happy with your crib when it arrives, you have 30 days to return it for a full refund or exchange. You will have to pay a 15% restocking fee and are responsible for return shipping, though.
High customer satisfaction
We weren't thrilled to see that aBaby has a "C-" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but this appears to be because they haven't responded to all the complaints made by customers. They do have overall good ratings from customers who say that the quality of furniture from aBaby is even better than expected, shipping was fast, and service is friendly and courteous. However, we aren't impressed by the selection or prices of cribs at aBaby, so they haven't earned a very high rating from us.
Buy Buy Baby is an American chain store that operates throughout the United States and Canada. They were founded in 1996 and are owned by Bed Bath & Beyond. Buy Buy Baby is one of the first stores that come to mind for many people when they are seeking out baby items. Cribs are just one of the many categories of products you can find at Buy Buy Baby in addition to other necessities like travel gear, nursing items, toys, clothing, and accessories.
Solid selection and filter features
You'll have a solid selection of over 200 cribs to choose from at Buy Buy Baby. Some are 4-in-1 convertible cribs, some are a crib and changer combo, others are mini cribs, and the rest are simple, full-sized cribs. You can sort the selection by price, brand, style, furniture finish, material, maximum weight capacity, ratings, and more.
Competitive pricing
The majority of these cribs fall into the $201 - $300 range, which is competitive with other companies. You can easily find something functional for under $200 or splurge and spend as much as $500. Regardless of the crib you choose, you'll be spending over $39, which means Buy Buy Baby will ship your order for free.
Save 20% on all purchases
Buy Buy Baby is famous for their 20% off deals. Whether it's through an email subscription, flyers in the mail, or sitewide sales, you can almost always find a way to get 20% off your total purchase. In addition, Buy Buy Baby will match the prices of competitors that sell an identical product. As long as it is in-stock, identical, and not a clearance or closeout item, Buy Buy Baby will honor the lower price.
90 days for returns
The return policy at Buy Buy Baby allows for a generous 90-day window to send anything back you aren't satisfied with as long as you have the receipt. You can take your product back to a local retail store or ship it back. Buy Buy Baby offers free return shipping on most products.
Unfiltered customer product reviews
Many of the cribs at Buy Buy Baby have reviews from customers. Some have photos and all of them include a description of the crib, purchase experience, quality, value, and whether or not they would recommend the crib. Most of the cribs are rated 4 out of 5 stars or above, which is reassuring.
Surprisingly low ratings
After everything we've seen from Buy Buy Baby, we want to give them a high review. Our biggest hesitation is their "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and recent negative reviews from customers. It's not uncommon to hear about issues with customer service and extreme delivery delays. Since the individual reviews on the cribs were high, we aren't concerned with quality, but shipping and ordering issues could make shopping here a frustrating experience. We aren't entirely confident in Buy Buy Baby's processes after hearing about so many problems from customers, so our rating for them is lower than we would have liked.
Originally known by the name Baby-Wise, BabyEarth began in 2003. They boast one of the largest selections of eco-friendly baby products that can be found online. BabyEarth is based out of Oregon and sells everything from baby clothing and strollers to nursery and feeding gear. Their selection of baby cribs features 73 different styles.
Smaller selection that it appears
Even though there are over 70 crib options listed, we noticed as we looked through them all that this number includes accessories like crib covers, crib pads, conversion kits, play yards, drape rods, and more. On top of this, most of their cribs are sold out, leaving an even smaller selection for customers. Something slightly annoying are the ads for other companies that are placed throughout the pages of BabyEarth's products, so you'll have to ignore a lot of those as you browse cribs.
Better prices elsewhere
Most cribs start at about $400 and go up to $799. There isn't anything overly special about the cribs at BabyEarth: you can find similar products from another retailer for even better prices. If you spend over $49 at BabyEarth, you'll get free shipping, so one of the only perks is that most likely you'll qualify for this. You can also sign up for their email list and get 10% off your total order, so if you happen to find a crib in-stock that you like, it would be worth trying to get at least a little discount on it.
Full refunds on returns
Most items purchased from BabyEarth can be returned within 30 days for a full refund. To initiate a return, you'll need to contact customer service for an RMA number prior to shipping. Unless there was an item defect, the customer is responsible for the cost of return shipping.
Poor customer satisfaction and low inventory
BabyEarth doesn't have very many customer reviews on the products they sell. They do have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but the few customer reviews we read don't sing their praises. Frustrations over returns, dealing with customer service, and low quality items are just some of the reasons we are concerned about recommending BabyEarth to parents. Even if we were excited about this company, their crib inventory is so low that we don't imagine this will be a helpful store for most people to shop at anyway. Because of this, they've earned a low rating from us.
Nurzery is an upscale retailer that sells categories of baby products like decor, bags, furniture, car seats, strollers, pregnancy gear, clothing, and toys. Besides providing baby gear, we aren't sure about the mission of this company or their history since they don't provide a lot of information about themselves and aren't talked about much online.
Weak selection
We'll start by saying that most of the cribs at Nurzery are sold out, so don't get your hopes up about a big selection here. Most of the cribs are white or a light wood color and in very basic styles. You can sort by brand or price, but there are less than 10 cribs in total available: however you browse cribs here, you won't have many choices.
Affordable pricing
The prices on cribs range from $150 to $600, so overall the prices here are fairly low and most cribs are under $300. It's unfortunate that inventory is so sparse. If you do happen to find a crib here you like, you'll get free shipping since Nurzery offers it on orders over $49.
Return products within 90 days
If by chance you find a crib at Nurzery but need to return it after delivery, the return policy allows you to do so within 90 days. As long as it doesn't show any signs of wear or damage and doesn't have any customizations, you'll be eligible for a full refund, minus the cost of shipping the crib back.
Little customer feedback
There are four customer reviews on Nurzery's website, all 5 out of 5 stars. These are obviously filtered and also don't provide enough information to give a reliable reflection of the company's reputation. Nurzery doesn't have a Better Business Bureau rating and it's hard to find any customer feedback about the company elsewhere.
You'll have more success elsewhere
Overall, we are disappointed by the lack of crib choices at Nurzery. Sometimes when we see a retailer with so many sold out products that don't seem to be coming back in stock, it makes us wonder if the company is potentially going out of business and trying to sell off all their inventory. We can't be sure, but it doesn't appear that the selection of cribs at Nurzery will be growing anytime soon. It isn't worth banking on finding something here, and you'll have more success with a higher-rated site.
Buying a new crib from a reputable website will ensure that your crib meets the latest safety standards. Over the years, certain crib features have been banned as they've proven dangerous or contributed to devastating cases of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Rather than using a hand-me-down, purchasing a brand new crib can ease your mind because you can feel confident that it meets the highest, most current industry safety standards.
There are hundreds of crib styles to choose from. Picking out this safe space for your new baby should be an enjoyable and exciting experience for you and your partner. Shopping online allows you to easily compare prices between different retailers and browse the biggest selection without having to go from store to store. You're sure to find something that you like online and save yourself the hassle of transporting it by having it shipped straight to your home!
