aBaby Review 2.5 Star Rating

2.5 Star Rating
  • Discount codes on their website
  • Custom kid furniture
  • 30-day return policy

The online baby store company, aBaby, was launched in 1998. They have a huge inventory of items for infants and toddlers. They have furniture, bedding, nursery decor, bassinets, mattresses, and toys of all kinds. Their website looks a little too early 2000's for us, so it could use a remodel to appeal to a younger audience looking for modern products for their kids.

Bedroom basics and toys

Some of the popular brands you'll find at aBaby are Lulla Smith, Newport Cottages, The Rug Market, Baby Doll Bedding, Badger Basket, and KidKraft. Their bestselling items are:

  • Baby Cribs
  • Bedding
  • Cradles & Bassinets
  • Moses Baskets
  • Mattresses
  • Toddler Beds
  • Wall Decor
  • Chandeliers
  • Dolls
  • Toy Boxes
  • Kid Chairs
  • Play Kitchens
  • Personalized Stools

No baby essentials here

One of aBaby's most unique categories of products are their custom baby furniture. This should be one of the first places to look if you're wanting one-of-a-kind personalized furniture pieces for your child. What you won't find here are some of the basics like car seats, strollers, diapers, or clothing.

Discount codes

At the time of this review, aBaby had discount codes provided to save 5% or 10% on your order, depending on how much you were spending at checkout. The prices on all their items are competitive, so you won't feel like you're breaking the bank here, but it helps to save a little on your overall purchase.

Restocking fee for large items

If you aren't satisfied with your purchase from aBaby, you can return it within 30 days for an exchange or refund (as long as it isn't a custom item). Larger items like beds, play kitchens, and nursery furniture will incur a 15% restocking fee.

Average ratings

Unfortunately, aBaby is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and only has a "B-" rating. This is because they haven't responded to all their customer complaints. People online who are frustrated with aBaby report that it takes a long time to receive products, customer service is hard to deal with, and that some items look different from the description or image on the website. Overall, this site gets average reviews from customers and some are extremely happy with their purchases here.

Not our first pick

If you're wanting furniture for your child's room or some unique toys for your toddler, aBaby is a fun place to look. However, if you're a new parent needing the essentials for an infant, you will want to look elsewhere. This is not our first pick for baby stores.

What Are the Best Baby Stores to Shop from Online?

Preparing for a new baby requires a surprising amount of purchases like a crib, changing station, car seat, stroller, clothing, rocking chair, bathing items, diapers, teethers, blankets, and so much more. Even as your child grows, the items needed don't seem to slow down! They grow so quickly and you'll need new toys, clothes, and books to keep up with their developmental stages.

Parents want the newest, cutest, and best things for their babies. With each new season comes a need for fun new outfits and activities. Baby Store FAQ

Every baby store has slightly different categories of products they offer. Most stores sell clothing, baby gear (e.g. strollers, cars seats, baby carriers), feeding accessories, furniture, toys, and more. Some baby stores focus mostly on selling clothing, while others are known for having a big selection of large items like gliders, changing tables, wagons, strollers, and car seats. Essentially, a baby store is meant to provide everything you would need to care for an infant.
It depends on the store! However, most baby stores have a good selection of products for newborn babies through toddlerhood. In addition, many baby stores sell things like breast pumps, robes, and maternity clothes that mothers would need throughout and after pregnancy. Ideally you'll be able to find a store you can shop at until your baby is a few years old and get all the things you need for yourself along the way.
Most baby stores are quite affordable and have competitive pricing, although some stores sell local, handmade items that are more expensive. When it comes to shopping for your baby, you'll need a lot of things, but aside from a stroller, car seat, and furniture, most baby items are quite inexpensive. Many retailers have price-match guarantees to ensure that you aren't paying more than is necessary for any of their products.
Yes! Almost all baby stores have a return policy of at least 30 days. Retailers know you might get repeat items from baby showers or find that you purchased the wrong size or style of something for your child. As long as you keep everything in brand-new condition, you'll be able to send things back for a full refund as long as it's within the return window specified by the company.
Not all baby stores allow you to register with them, but many do! This is a great way to specify to friends and family the things you want for your baby before he/she arrives. Oftentimes, baby stores will give you a discount on all remaining items from your registry after your baby showers are over. This helps you get all the necessary items that weren't gifted to you - for a good price.
Parents appreciate any and all kinds of gifts for their little one! It's always safe to get them a cute outfit, book, or baby toy. It also helps to check if the parents have registered for specific things. A good rule of thumb is to request a gift receipt when you shop online so that the parents can exchange anything they need to.
When babies are first born, sizes go by months. This isn't always accurate since some babies are born smaller or bigger than others and they all grow at different rates. However, it's usually pretty safe to buy something according to the number of months your child is. Once they pass 18 months, clothing sizes change to "2T" , "3T" , and so on based on how many years old they are. Luckily, if you buy the wrong size you could always exchange or return the clothing.
It can be overwhelming to shop for your baby if you've never had one before. The number of things you need to care for and play with your child may seem endless. It helps to do a quick online search for a "must-have" baby products list. You could also start by visiting an online baby store and going through all their products to get an idea of what's out there and what you imagine might be helpful. Think of these main categories to get your started: sleeping, eating, bathing, diapering, playing, and transportation.

Continued from above...

There are many baby stores online to choose from. Some are more high-end and charge an arm and a leg for even the smallest and simplest baby items. It helps to be able to compare prices between different stores, especially for big ticket items like car seats and strollers. You'll be spending a lot of money on a baby no matter where you shop, but it helps to find online stores that offer discount codes or big sales to keep you within a budget!

When deciding what baby store to shop at, here are a few important things to consider:

  • Cost. Parents are often willing to buy and do whatever their child needs, but it's important to find somewhere that isn't taking advantage by charging astronomical prices. Does the store offer discounts? How often do they run sitewide sales?
  • Selection. From toys to clothes to books, every person has a different taste, so find a store that offers a big selection to choose from. It's boring to shop somewhere that always sells the same things or doesn't give you many options.
  • Return policy. Whether you're buying a baby item as a gift or for your own child, sometimes you get sizes wrong or change your mind about the product. Does the store offer a generous return policy and give full refunds?
