Pottery Barn Kids Review 3 Star Rating

Pottery Barn Kids

3 Star Rating
  • Starting at $249
  • 118 strollers
  • High-end brands
  • Price-match guarantee
  • Honest buyer reviews

Pottery Barn Kids was founded by two moms in 1999 who wanted to provide people access to stylish, fun, safe, and comfortable furniture for designing kids' rooms. Their focus is still on furniture and decor, but they also have a selection of over 100 strollers as well. Pottery Barn Kids is committed to providing the highest-end brands and products for your children.

High-end

If you've ever made a purchase from Pottery Barn, you know they are one of the most expensive brands out there. Their selection of strollers is no different. They don't provide a range of brands that cater to different budgets, since they only carry the fanciest of everything. It's no surprise that stroller brands here with the biggest selection are Nuna and UPPAbaby. Other well-known brands include Doona, Thule, WonderFold, Maxi Cosi, and Baby Jogger.

Strollers starting at $249

The Maxi-Cosi Mara XT Ultra Compact Stroller is the least expensive one you'll find at Pottery Barn Kids. It comes in at $249.99 and luckily qualifies for free shipping along with all other strollers. We thought that their most expensive stroller was actually pretty awesome because it's geared toward twins, which we haven't really seen anywhere else. It's the Nuna DEMI + PIPA RX (set of 2) Twins Infant Car Seat System for $1,750. This includes a stroller and 2 car seats that can each clip onto the stroller for easy transportation.

Best Baby Stroller Stores

Mostly classy, simple looks

Most of the strollers from Pottery Barn are classy and similar to what we've seen elsewhere. Some of them have multiple color choices, but others either come in black or gray. However, there was one item that stood out to us as a really fun option if you're looking for something unique. WonderFold makes a VW4 Volkswagen Stroller Wagon that comes in a bright blue and sage green color. Both mimic the cute look of a Volkswagen car and you'd surely get a lot of comments on how fun it looks. However, the cost is $1,599, so it's not the cheapest type of wagon you'd be able to find, that's for sure.

Price-match guarantee

The nice thing is, even though Pottery Barn Kids only sells pricey, upper-end items, they have a price-match guarantee. This means if you find an identical item elsewhere for a lower price, you can email Pottery Barn Kids or give them a call and they'll give you the lowest price if it qualifies.

30-day return policy

To make returns, you can either call customer service to initiate it or print a return label from their returns page and take your stroller to your nearest UPS location. If you return your new, unused stroller within 30 days, you'll get a refund of the merchandise value, but you'll most likely be responsible for return shipping costs (deducted from your refund).

Honest buyer reviews

Pottery Barn Kids has a really nice, appealing website, and besides providing lots of product photos and details, they also have reviews on all their products from previous buyers. You can see a percentage of how many people recommend the product, read reviews from people who provide their age, gender, overall rating, and comments. You can see how old the reviews are too, so you know that people are currently buying these strollers.

Poor customer satisfaction

The one place Pottery Barn Kids really doesn't shine is with their overall customer satisfaction. They only have a "C-” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and the reviews from people who have shopped here aren't much to be proud of. Some shoppers say that they order items that appear to be in-stock and then get notified that they are backordered. Working with customer service on issues sounds like a total nightmare, and people end up extremely frustrated whenever they run into a problem.

Disappointed

For being such a well-established, high-end store, Pottery Barn Kids should have better customer support and work harder to keep their customers happy. It's frustrating when a company sells such expensive products, but they don't stand behind them or ensure that customers have a good experience from beginning to end. This has been an issue with Pottery Barn for a long time, so they haven't earned one of our top ratings among baby stroller stores.

Baby Stroller Store FAQ

It may be overwhelming to find a baby stroller online since there are so many brands and styles. The six main types of baby strollers are full-sized, umbrella, jogging, double, car seat carriers, and travel systems. Depending on what you'll be using your stroller for, this will help you narrow down your options.
It's nearly impossible to get away with not having a baby stroller. Whether you want to go on a leisurely walk, go on a run, visit a museum, or just go to the grocery store, you will need a way to safely bring your baby along. It's unrealistic to carry your baby everywhere and holding them in a car seat is heavy and uncomfortable. Having a stroller allows you to easily get around on foot with your baby.
The cost of baby strollers varies widely. This is largely based on what you're using the stroller for. There are also some brands that can be multi-functional with the option of different accessories that can cost upwards of $1,000 or more. On the other hand, you can easily find an umbrella stroller for $50 or less. If you want a functional, high-quality stroller that doesn't carry a fancy brand name, you can find everything you need in a stroller for just a couple hundred dollars.
Baby strollers can be returned to stores if they are in new condition and haven't been heavily used. The return may incur a restocking fee, so be sure to read up on the return policy of a company before purchasing from them. Since strollers are a large purchase, some retailers have a stroller guarantee that allows parents to try out their stroller for a few weeks and return it if they want something different. If your stroller comes damaged or broken, you can always get a new one without paying shipping or restocking fees.
Most baby strollers come with everything you need like the basket, a small tray table, the sun shade, buckles, and more. Some high-end stroller companies have a variety of add-ons you could purchase if you want all the bells and whistles. If you want to hook your baby car seat onto the stroller, you might have to purchase an attachment part for that. There are buddy boards that allow toddler children to stand on the back of the stroller while pushing it. And you can buy additional storage packs and click onto the stroller as well. Of course, these are all optional and you can get everything you really need from the stroller purchase alone.
When looking for a baby stroller, decide how you'll be using it most. Do you have more than one kid that needs to fit? Do you often go running with your baby? Are the walkways around you paved or dirt? Do you travel often? The different stroller types cater to different lifestyles, so once you decide what you need your stroller to do, you can narrow down all your options. You'll be able to choose from a variety of colors too, so pick your favorite one! It's also helpful if customers have left reviews on the different baby strollers. This way you can see how high-quality the frame is, if pieces come loose, and how it handles on different terrain.
There is no guarantee on exactly how long a stroller will last since the frequency of use varies from person to person and some people are gentler with their belongings than others. However, strollers are meant to carry children extremely long distances, fold up for convenient packing, and be used over and over again. It's not unlikely that a stroller will last through all of your children and still be in good condition.
When your baby stroller arrives, it will be packaged in a box and need minimal assembling. All baby stroller packages come with step-by-step instructions on how to put them together. If it's easier, most strollers have assembly tutorials online if you visit the retailer's website or search the internet. Most stroller assembly is fairly intuitive and will require just a few minutes.

Do you want one that works well for jogging? Do you need it to have an adjustable sun shade? Would you prefer a single stroller? Or a double? How about one that can convert to being both? With accessories for water bottles, car seat adaptors, or even standing boards for a toddler, the options for creating your perfect stroller are endless.

Depending on the brand of stroller you're interested in and the bells and whistles it comes with, you should expect to pay anywhere between a couple hundred dollars and over a thousand for your stroller. It's important to find a retailer that will provide plenty of information about all their options, along with customer reviews to help you make the best buying decision.

Some companies will offer major sales on their baby gear every so often, so this would be a great way to save some money. If you're having a hard time committing to a stroller or worried about the price, you might find a retailer that lets you do a trial run with the stroller to make sure it will fit all your needs. There are quite a few stores to choose from that have a great selection of strollers, so keep the following things in mind when choosing who to go with:

  • Selection. Does the company give you plenty of color options, accessories to choose from, and a range of high quality brands? Since there are so many types of strollers, it will help to shop at a company that offers a big selection and allows you to easily compare all their products.
  • Return policy. What if you try out your stroller and decide that it isn't going to work for your lifestyle like you hoped? Are you able to return it for a full refund or easily exchange it for a new one? How long do you have to give your stroller a try before making a final decision on it?
  • Customer satisfaction. What do other customers have to say about the stroller store? Is the company reputable and reliable? What are they rated by the Better Business Bureau? Do they honor their policies and put the customer first?
