Which Bagel Club is the Best?  Few breakfast foods are as beloved as a fresh, chewy bagel. Whether toasted with a smear of cream cheese, loaded with smoked salmon, or simply enjoyed as-is, bagels have been a go-to comfort food for decades.
Davidovich Bakery has its roots in tradition, shaped by the childhood memories of Gene Davidovich and the aromas of fresh-baked bread in his grandmother's Ukrainian kitchen. After immigrating to the US in 1980, he carried those flavors and techniques with him, eventually turning a passion for baking into a family-run business in 1998. From the beginning, the focus has been on hand-rolled, high-quality bagels made with all-natural ingredients, a commitment that continues today. Even as the bakery has grown, it remains dedicated to the craftsmanship and care that first inspired it, with Gene himself still stepping in to roll and bake, keeping the tradition alive.
Go month-to-month or pay for a year upfront
The bagel club here has made some positive changes since our earlier review. You've now got two subscriptions to choose from: a month-to-month plan at $49.99, or a paid-in-full, annual plan for $599.88. Shipping costs are included in both subscriptions (with the exception of orders going to FL, CA, TX, AZ, UT, ID, CO, NM, and KS; those customers will have to upgrade to second-day shipping), and since there's no savings when you subscribe for a year (and pay upfront), we'd recommend going with the month-to-month plan.
You choose up to 4 flavors in each delivery
It's also possible now to see all of the flavors on offer and select the ones you want in your bagel club boxes. You get 20 bagels each month: 5 each in the 4 flavors you choose. Those flavors include Everything, 7-Grain, Blueberry, Cinnamon Raisin, Pumpernickel, Garlic, Poppy, Onion, Sesame, Plain, Egg, Sourdough, and Whole Wheat.
Just a basic bagel box here
That's really about all you can expect with this bagel club: classic flavors with nothing crazy or seasonal in the mix, no gift-giving options or other perks like a newsletter, just a shipment of the same bagels you'd get if you stopped by the Essex Street Market location on the Lower East Side.
Customers have mixed feelings about bagel delivery
Reputation-wise overall, Davidovich Bakery does okay. They've been around long enough (almost 3 decades) to be a well-known staple in NYC, but most of the feedback out there is based on in-person purchases. We did spot a few reviews from customers who ordered from Davidovich Bakery online, and they were mixed. One person said "the bagels were hard when received and cookies were broken". But, another said that this bakery is "the best delivery service to get NYC bagels remotely". All we can say after reading through dozens of reviews is that your delivery experience with Davidovich Bakery is going to be hit-or-miss.
Not the best or the worst bagel club
All told, Davidovich Bakery's bagel club has made enough changes to move the needle on its reputation since our last review, up to a "just average" score. You get a lot of bagel-for-your-buck here at under $50 for 20, and some customers will really appreciate being able to pick the specific flavors that come in their box. However, compared with some of its rivals on our list, Davidovich Bakery comes up a little short. We'd suggest looking a little higher in our rankings first, but loop back to this bakery if you don't find what you need there.
