Where is the best place to buy baseball equipment?  Sports fans know that when the game is on the line, having the right equipment can make the difference between striking out and hitting a grand slam. Online shopping has made it easier than ever to get just what you need delivered right to your door in time for the big game.
Calling themselves "America's Baseball Superstore," Better Baseball is based in Marietta, Georgia, where they have an in-person location. However, baseball fans across the United States are able to take advantage of their selection and pricing by visiting their online shop.
Biggest selection of gloves from best in the game
The self-designated one-stop-shop for America's pastime, Better Baseball has been in the Atlanta area since 1999. They provide thousands of products for baseball and softball, with equipment from the biggest names in the business, including Wilson, Rawlings, Marucci, Louisville Slugger, Easton, New Balance, Adidas, DeMarini, and Mizuno. They boast over 80,000 bats in stock as well as the largest selection of gloves, plus closeout equipment at significant discounts.
Easy to shop on this website
The Better Baseball website is colorful and easy-to-navigate, with clearly labeled product features, discounts, and warranty information. If you need help with your order, there are multiple ways to receive it - from the "Ask an expert" button which sends an email to the staff, to the phone number, to an extensive FAQ page. They will even provide expert advice to help you choose the best bat.
Competitive prices for bats and gloves
To more accurately compare prices at Better Baseball with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. Here's how they stacked up:
In general, the prices are competitive and at the overall average, though they had a small selection of cleats which were priced on the higher end of what we saw among retailers. While they state specifically on their website that they do not offer coupon codes, Better Baseball is committed to providing deeply discounted prices and free, fast shipping, plus BB Bucks on all orders (keep reading for more on that).
Custom uniforms at a discount
If you're looking for custom team uniforms at a discount, Better Baseball may be the place to get them. They offer a dedicated account manager, guaranteed turnaround times, and in-house graphic designers - all for no additional cost to their customers. Additionally, they specialize and manufacture their own line of protective screens, offering custom-created screens to fit your needs at competitive prices. Better Baseball is also the home of the original 9-Hole Pitchers Pocket.
Rewards don't expire
If you like being rewarded for your purchases, Better Baseball allows you to earn BB Bucks on every online or in-store order. Unlike some stores' rewards credits, they never expire and can be spent on any Better Baseball order. Signing up is free, and BB Bucks are earned with no exclusions. (This is so much better than some rewards "cash" programs which quickly expire or exclude certain brands to redeem).
They'll match that lower price
Shop with confidence at Better Baseball knowing you are finding the best price available. Their price match policy says they will beat any qualifying retailer's price and give you BB Bucks. Items to be matched must be available in the exact model, size, and color; sold by a manufacturer-approved seller; above their cost from the manufacturer; and at pricing that is available for anyone, not select groups. If you find something that meets those criteria, contact them to get the price matched. They will even honor the best price up to 30 days post purchase, providing you a refund. Easy peasy.
Free, fast shipping on all orders
Better Baseball offers fast and free shipping for all their online orders. An estimated delivery time is offered to you at checkout, depending on your distance from their Marietta, Georgia, location. Typical delivery time is one to five days. Online reviewers mentioned receiving items quickly and packaged carefully with gloves shipped to keep the shape and offering "a really cool bag" for storage or transporting the glove.
Returns allowed for a year
If you change your mind, Better Baseball offers an incredible 365-day free return for unused items. (This is especially great for those of us who buy first and think about whether or not we truly need it later). Proof of purchase is required, and no returns are available on out-of-wrapper or used items. Just go to the online returns page to start a request and get a free return label. Oversized items are excluded from the free courtesy return label. Team orders and custom screens are subject to a 15% restocking fee unless the item received did not match the original order. Additionally, if there is an issue with a bat purchased under a manufacturer's warranty, Better Baseball offers links to help you submit a claim for your replacement, making it easy to take care of something that could be a true hassle.
Customer feedback is overwhelmingly positive
While Better Baseball may not be accredited by the BBB, they have earned an "A+" rating for their company with zero complaints filed. Across online review platforms, the company has an excellent rating average of 4.2 to 4.9 out of 5 stars. One happy customer noted that the company has "bat experts who helped me pick out the right bat for our son. Customer for life!" Another said that the company offers "competitive price for premium service," while one more raved, "Five stars isn't enough for these wonderful people." One unhappy customer complained about being sold an expensive bat online only to learn the next day that it was out of stock - but negative reviews are sparse, making up just 3% of the over 600 reviews.
Top of the list
With their incredible customer satisfaction, generous return policy, and massive selection of baseball equipment at competitive prices, Better Baseball is the best place to shop online for your gameday essentials. Click over there ASAP to get your gear.
A division of MonkeySports, Inc., Baseball Monkey is the online branch specializing in diamond sport gear. Their superstore MonkeySports launched in Irvine, California, in 2013, claiming to be experts in each of the sports they specialize in so that they can help athletes get the most out of their equipment. Even if you don't live near one of their five locations, Baseball Monkey is available to provide all the equipment for your individual needs in just a few clicks on their online storefront.
Top brands on an easy-to-navigate website
Baseball Monkey offers all the major baseball brands, including Rawlings, Bruce Bolt, Victus, Old Hickory, Franklin, No Errors, Stringking, Blast, Under Armour, New Balance, Nike, Soldier Sports, Mizuno, and Easton. With a bright, easy-to-navigate online store, Baseball Monkey has numerous drop-down menus to help you find the equipment you need for your game. We did, however, experience slow load times on many of the website features over multiple visits.
Great selection of cleats at competitive prices
To more accurately compare prices with other retailers, we focused on three key items at Baseball Monkey: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. The results are as follows:
If you'd like to save more and receive emails regarding promotions, Baseball Monkey has a pop-up or "sign up & save" button offering a coupon for 15% off a clearance item. Overall, the prices at Baseball Monkey are competitive and they offer one of the largest selections of cleats we reviewed.
Trade in your bat for credit
If your old bat still has some life in it but you want to upgrade to take advantage of a sale on Baseball Monkey, check out their "Trade In & Upgrade" program. Start by getting a free quote, then ship your bat using a prepaid shipping label, and receive a MonkeySports gift card via email which may be used to purchase a new bat or ball glove either on the website or in-person at a store.
Price match with their Best Price Guarantee
Baseball Monkey offers a Best Price Guarantee because they are committed to providing low prices for your favorite products. They will match a price for identical products that are currently in-stock on both an authorized online retailer's website and the Baseball Monkey online store. Authorized retailers are listed on their guarantee details page so it's easy to see if you would potentially meet the criteria. To request a price match, you put it in your shopping cart, write a message in the comments, and submit your order. Baseball Monkey will evaluate the request and either honor the request and continue the order or notify you if it is not accepted.
Earn loyalty rewards on almost all purchases
To give you more when you buy your baseball gear, Baseball Monkey provides Rebound Rewards, a free loyalty program permitting members to earn rewards on all purchases (except gift cards). Tiers are determined by the amount spent, starting with 5% rewards up to 7%, and they expire within 90 days of issuance.
Free shipping is available
Free two-day shipping is available with the purchase of select gloves and bats over $199. Baseball Monkey offers free standard shipping for orders of $99 or more. Annoyingly, the website redirected to customer service when we tried to find out shipping costs on other orders. On a catcher's mitt in our cart, the estimated shipping cost ranged from $11.99 for standard to $45 for next-day.
Returns permitted but timeframe unclear
To make it easy to return items, Baseball Monkey has created a return portal, eliminating the need to contact customer service. You can choose to print your return label at home, print at a FedEx store, or ship using your carrier of choice. You are encouraged to contact customer service directly within 72 hours if you were sent the wrong product or a shipment arrived damaged. For defective after use items, contact the warranty department. Frustratingly, we were unable to determine the return window because the link for the website's return and exchange policy continued to redirect to the customer service contact methods page.
Customer feedback mainly positive
Parent company MonkeySports, Inc. is not accredited by the BBB but has earned an "A+" rating, with only three complaints over the past year. Across online review platforms, Baseball Monkey has a mostly excellent rating average of 4.7 out of 5, though some other small review sites record satisfaction as low as 3.7 stars. Complaints focus on shipping issues, including late delivery, packing problems, and fees to return items, including mislabeled products. However, positive reviewers customers mention "absolutely the best customer service," packaging with care, and best prices and deals for desired equipment.
A near-perfect choice
With an expansive selection of baseball equipment at competitive prices, Baseball Monkey is just short of the top due to shipping costs, slow-loading website features, and an unclear return policy. However, this baseball equipment expert is well worth considering due to their specialized knowledge and mainly positive customer reviews.
In 1902, SCHEELS began as a family hardware store in Minnesota before switching focus to sports equipment in the mid-1980s. The once tiny shop has evolved to become the World's Largest All Sports Store multiple times throughout the 1990s and into the 21st Century. In addition to the 34 in-person locations, sports enthusiasts are able to enjoy expert assistance and nationwide shipping from their online store.
Top brands on this sports megastore (but be ready to search)
Offering the major brands in baseball, SCHEELS features Rawlings, Wilson, Mizuno, Marucci, Nokona, Louisville Slugger, Easton, DeMarini, Nike, and New Balance. If you go to the homepage of SCHEELS' online store, it's evident that they are much more than a baseball equipment provider. To get to the baseball equipment part of the mega-store, it takes a little navigating of the drop-down menu. You won't immediately see the sports listed like you might think you would; instead you have to select Sports & Outdoors and then shop by sport before the word "baseball" even shows up on the website. (When you're looking for baseball equipment, you may not want to hunt, but it is worth the effort at SCHEELS).
Easy to explore
Once you get to the baseball store, it's easy to explore all diamond-sport related gear, including bats, gloves, cleats, clothing, accessories, training gear, protective gear, and more. Unlike other sites which specialize in diamond sports only, we had to navigate to a separate softball page to view items available for that sport. Expert articles can be found for all sports, including baseball - like how to choose cleats or the right baseball bat, cleaning a helmet, and "best of" lists for bats, gloves, and other essentials.
Prices are competitive for bats and fielding gloves
To more accurately compare prices for SCHEELS with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. The results are as follows:
A 5% military discount is offered when you verify your military status for the MySCHEELS account, which we did not find on other retailers for this list. Overall, the prices at SCHEELS are on the lower end comparatively, when combined with their price match policy (keep reading), this may be the place to shop, especially if you participate in other sports and want to earn rewards on all of your purchases (and keep reading even further).
"Shop with confidence" for the lowest prices
SCHEELS claims that offering the best prices is their top priority, so they offer "shop with confidence" price matching on in-stock items that are the exact same brand, model and style, size, and color from an authorized retailer. To claim this benefit of a lower price, you must be a MySCHEELS member, add the item to your cart, and then chat or email to verify a price match.
Got rewards?
SCHEELS offers differing levels of benefits for those who purchase from them. A free MySCHEELS account provides the benefits of price matching, free returns and exchanges, and exclusive deals and offers. To get reward points on purchases, the company offers SCHEELS Visa Cards in two levels. If you plan to do a lot of shopping here, that option may provide you the best benefits.
Free shipping available
Free standard shipping (which takes two to five business days) for orders of $75 or more is available from SCHEELS, as is free, same-day in-store pickup. Orders under $75 will incur a $9.99 shipping fee. Expedited shipping costs $19.99 for two to three business days, while express costs $29.99 and should arrive in one to two business days.
Returns within 90 days minus shipping fees
Free mail-in returns and exchanges are permitted within 90 days of an online purchase for items in original packaging and condition. Go to the MySCHEELS returns portal to access the pre-paid return label and send the product back for a refund minus shipping fees. If there is a product defect or you want to activate a warranty, SCHEELS suggests you keep your order confirmation email or receipt as proof of purchase and then contact the manufacturer directly. For items which are received damaged, incorrect, or defective, they suggest you contact customer service.
Customers appreciate employee-owned company
SCHEELS individual store locations are listed on the BBB, resulting in varying ratings. Across review platforms, the results are average, with 3.1 stars out of 5, but the 5-star reviews are nearly three times the 1-star ones. One pleased reviewer liked that SCHEELS is an employee-owned alternative to online mega corporations, with "competitively priced items and extremely fast shipping." Most of the negative reviews are about shipping and delivery issues, a problem for all online retailers.
Great choice
SCHEELS may not specialize in baseball equipment, but the mega sportstore works to earn your business with its low prices, generous return policy, and loyalty rewards. If price is your main concern, we recommend this option for your baseball gear.
Headquartered in Fenton, Missouri, Baseball Express distributes sporting goods, athletic equipment, footwear, and apparel. The company was founded in 1990 to serve coaches, teams, players, and organizations who "demand the best performance products at reasonable prices."
Top brands for baseball, softball is on a different website
With products from top brands like Rawlings, Easton, Wilson, Adidas, Louisville Slugger, DeMarini, New Balance, Tucci, Franklin, Soldier Sports, and more, Baseball Express offers products for a family of companies, including Team Express, Training Center, and Softball (it's a separate website if you're looking for these products). Baseball Express has a colorful website with a sleek look. It's easy to sort through all of the options and shop for the equipment you need. Drop-down menus for bats, gloves, batting, catcher's gear, bags, apparel, footwear, and equipment simplify the process. Another feature of the website is "Baseball Insider," offering expert articles about baseball-related concerns, including bat use in cold weather, training for the offseason, and improving your pop time.
Respectable selection at competitive prices
To more accurately compare prices for Baseball Express with those from other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. Here's how they stacked up:
Look for a popup when you visit the website. You may be able to save 15% off your first order by joining their email list. While there are youth products available here, they are limited and the softball ones are on a separate website. Overall while Baseball Express' prices are competitive, their selection of bats and fielding gloves doesn't compare with the top retailers on our list.
Price match not found, no rewards
Unlike many online retailers we reviewed, Baseball Express does not appear to offer a price matching policy nor do they offer a rewards program. These are two things that knock the company down on our list, especially when you look at what rival retailers offer.
Shipping can be free
Free shipping is offered for most orders $99 or higher (with some exclusions). The items are shipped from Baseball Express' centralized warehouse, allowing for delivery within two to three days in most areas of the United States. They use a variety of methods to deliver their products straight to you, including FedEx and USPS, depending on the weight and destination. Shipping costs are not listed anywhere on the site, but when we put a youth fielding glove in the cart and went to check out, estimated shipping ranged from $6.99 (economy) or $8.99 (Priority Mail) to priority overnight ($86. 99).
Restocking fee charged for returns
Baseball Express offers a 90-day return policy on new, unused products, with original boxes, bags, packaging, accessories, and literature. A restocking fee of $8.99 is charged. They recommend directly contacting companies regarding manufacturer warranty claims.
Customer feedback positive but limited and dated
Parent company Team Express is not accredited by the BBB but has earned an "A-" rating, with only one complaint in the past year. Across online review platforms, Baseball Express has ranked well, with an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars. There are also older review sites with limited feedback ranking the company as low as 1.4 and 2.4. Complaints have to do with not receiving promised discounts on orders and lost packages. Happy customers say that the company "does a great job of providing a wide selection of products at competitive price points" and is a favorite site for purchasing baseball gear, including the availability of big & tall sizes not found elsewhere. Since there are not as many reviews as we usually see with a company that has been around for a while, we advise you to use them with caution until more current reviews are posted.
Just an average choice
Though Baseball Express specializes in the sport, their small selection combined with missing perks other companies offer makes them just an average choice for us. We'd recommend that you look at its competitors that land a little higher on our list first, and then circle back to Baseball Express if you still haven't found what you're looking for.
Since 1946, Franklin Sports has provided quality crafted products across the world of sports, including baseball, softball, youth sports, and more. The company motto is "Sports make life better." They made their indelible mark by inventing the first-ever baseball batting glove in 1984, resulting in their becoming the Official Batting Glove of Major League Baseball.
Only one brand sold
As a manufacturer of sporting equipment, you will only find their brand here. If you know Franklin is the brand you want, buying it directly from them can have its benefits. There is a rewards program for earning vouchers, and it's easier to claim a warranty when buying straight from the manufacturer. The downside is the limited selection, and you won't be able to get everything you need to play the game at one website. A limited number of fastpitch softball products are offered for sale from Franklin, such as batting gloves, balls, and fielding gloves.
Website offers instruction manuals (and pickleball articles)
A welcoming website with easy to navigate categories makes shopping at Franklin easy. The features are mostly the products, though a blog has articles on their products in various sports, especially pickleball. Additionally, if you lose an instruction manual for an item purchased off the site, they are easy to find here, as are replacement parts for certain equipment.
Very limited selection at competitive prices
To more accurately compare prices for Franklin against other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. Franklin's limited product selection is evident:
When you visit the site, you may see a popup offering 20% off your first order for joining The Franklin Fam email list. Overall, if you want Franklin gloves, this is the place to get the best selection and even find custom ones. However, it's definitely not a one-stop-shop for your baseball equipment needs.
Batting gloves specialists
While there are limited products, Franklin offers custom batting gloves on their website. Batting gloves are separated by gender and size. There are 21 styles offered, including MLB Mystery Batting Gloves (add to cart and see which you end up with for a significant discount over regular price) and Powerstrap Infinite Batting Gloves. Twenty options for youth are sold, and just five styles of softball batting globes including fastpitch and all weather.
Shipping charges are reasonable
Prices for shipping start at $5 for ground, with standard 3-day at $20, express 2nd day at $35, and standard overnight at $60.
Reward points do not expire
Franklin offers Clubhouse Rewards, a free loyalty program to earn points and exclusive rewards when you shop. Different reward levels are unlocked as you earn points, providing birthday gifts, double points day, and more. Points do not expire.
Returns accepted
With a 30-day return policy, Franklin will accept new, unused items for a refund. Additionally, there is a 90-day limited warranty policy which covers defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase, providing a repair or replacement at their discretion.
Customer feedback limited for retailer
Franklin is not accredited by the BBB, but they have earned an "A+" rating with only one complaint in three years. Reviews are lacking for the company in general, but it's easy to find reviews for specific Franklin products. The few (less than 10) reviews we found were predominantly positive, though a few negatives claim they were unable to reach customer service when they experienced problems with shipping or credit card fraud (which is typically not the company's fault). Pleased customers mentioned "fast efficient service," "excellent customer service," and "willingness to stand behind its products."
Great for gloves, not as a retailer for lots of baseball equipment
When it comes to marketing and offering options, many other retailers on our list sell Franklin products and combine them with free shipping and the availability of other equipment. As a result, without offering other necessary baseball gear, Franklin ranks as just an average retailer on our list: good at what it does but limited overall.
One of the nation's largest sporting goods stores, Academy Sports + Outdoors is headquartered out of Katy, Texas, and has over 300 stores across 21 states. Started in 1938 to sell tires, the company added sports items in 1980 before finally taking on the name they have today in 1995.
Lots of brands on a busy website
Popular brands such as Rawlings, Easton, Marucci, Mizuno, Under Armour, Nike, Wilson, Louisville Slugger, DeMarini, and EvoShield can be found at Academy Sports + Outdoors. The website begins with lots of colorful images to draw the shopper in, with brands listed across the top of the page. However, like other mega-sports retailers we have reviewed, it is not easy to find the baseball equipment. First you must click on the drop-down menu and then scroll down to sports before you can find it. Alternatively, you could type in the specific item you want in the search bar at the top of the page. Also, it's not always easy to find the information you're looking for on this website.
One of the largest selections of cleats offered
To more accurately compare prices for Academy Sports + Outdoors with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. The results are as follows:
At certain times of the year, look for discounts (for teachers and school staff in the fall). Overall, their selection is excellent and their prices are competitive with others on our list.
Price match plus
Academy Sports + Outdoors guarantees the best prices every day and says they will beat it by 5%. The item must be in-stock at Academy, identical in brand with the same model number and a valid sale (not expired or offered by a third-party). Printed or digital sales from qualified retailers are allowed (see their website for a list). To price match, contact customer service and allow them to validate the price and give you an additional 5% off.
Rewards program gives vouchers for loyalty
For rewards, myAcademy is the loyalty program offered by Academy Sports + Outdoors, giving you 10% off your first purchase, up to $20, and a $10 reward for your birthday month, and rewards do expire. They also offer a store-branded credit card which gives a discount on purchases and free standard shipping for online orders of $15 or more.
Shipping usually free
If you join their rewards program, you can receive free two-day shipping on select orders of $150 or more. Additionally, they offer free standard shipping on orders as small as $25 with the myAcademy loyalty program. If you choose to order without the loyalty program, it will take a minimum order of $50 to receive free standard shipping benefits. Free one-hour in-store pickup is offered, and free same-day delivery may be offered on orders over $50 (promotions may vary depending on when you shop the site and your proximity to an Academy Sports + Outdoors location). However, no listing of shipping prices is available on the website. When we put a small item in the cart, the estimated shipping was $6.95. Standard shipping arrives within three to five business days while express will be there in two business days.
Returns within 60 days but may incur a charge
Within 60 days of purchase, items may be sent back with a valid packing slip for a refund less other charges (which is not explained anywhere on the website); if you are missing your slip, they offer a way for you to print it to send with your return. The merchandise returned to Academy Sports + Outdoors must be resalable - no visible wear or usage - in original packaging, and with all paperwork, parts, and accessories.
Customer feedback
There is no rating on the BBB for Academy Sports + Outdoors due to their information being reviewed or updated, and the company is not accredited. The last time we reviewed them, the company had been issued a warning by the BBB as a result of complaints from misleading and deceptive sales tactics (like customers receiving used products). There have been 39 complaints in the past year for them, and 40 customers on the BBB have reviewed the company to give them 1 out of 5 stars, with rants about terrible experiences, wrong products received, inventory issues, and "the worst customer experience I've had in my life." Across review platforms, Academy Sports + Outdoors fares much better, with 4.1 out of 5 stars from over 17,000 reviews on Google reviews, though 2.6 out of 5 from over 5,000 reviews on Yelp tells a different story. Many negative reviews tell stories of bad in-store experiences and poor customer service. The positive reviewers tell of good products and excellent experiences in-store. We would hesitate to recommend this sports equipment retailer due to these uneven reviews and we'd keep an eye on what happens with the BBB rating.
Below average option
While Academy Sports + Outdoors may have one of the biggest selection of cleats, we suggest looking at the higher-ranking baseball equipment stores on our list due to concerns about this company's business practices.
Walmart first opened a store in 1962 based on the motto "the lowest prices anytime, anywhere." From one store in Arkansas to over 10,700 worldwide, the retailer changed the way people shop and the prices they expect to pay.
Limited brand selection for casual players
As a worldwide retailer of much more than sporting goods, Walmart does not have specialized knowledge of any particular category. However, online they offer brands such as Rawlings, Athletic Works, Franklin, Easton, Blitzball, SPECSTAR, Wilson, Louisville Slugger, Mizuno, and Guardian Baseball. While many of these brands are also used by pros, the majority of the goods sold on Walmart's website seem to be for casual players.
Website search can be overwhelming
The home page for the Walmart website is very busy. Since this retailer offers significantly more than just sports equipment, you will need to search the drop-down menu for departments, then sports and outdoor, then sports. Once you're on the sports page, it's easy to find baseball (or softball) and be taken to their online equipment selection. The page lists categories of equipment and also has filters along the side to help narrow down what you're looking for. Of course, you could always just use the search bar at the top of the Walmart website if you know what you want - especially since the website features more than 1,000 baseball-related products, just browsing could be overwhelming. (Take note that searching the softball store turns up many crossover products with over 1,000 items to browse. Walmart is definitely not a specialty sports store and should not be viewed that way). One negative was the font for the product descriptions was just over 10 point font, which can be difficult to read. Also, search results can yield totally unrelated products, making browsing frustrating.
Some of the best prices available
To more accurately compare prices at Walmart with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. The results are tricky to compare due to the company's search results:
It should be noted that all prices on Walmart's website are "when purchased online" and in-store pricing and availability may vary. Overall, Walmart offers some of the lowest prices for some brands but, despite large search result listings, does not have the selection offered by our top-rated baseball equipment retailers, especially when it comes to pro gear.
Price match not offered
Unlike many retailers, Walmart does not match competitors' prices but may match identical items on their website when you purchase in a store, with restrictions.
Shipping usually free
Walmart+ members will receive free shipping with no minimum order, while others qualify with a minimum order of $35; there is a $6.99 fee if you are below the minimum. Same-day delivery may be available in select areas for Walmart+ members, while others pay a fee of $7.95 to $19.99 (even for drone delivery). While Walmart fulfills most of the items on their website, take note that it also lists other retailers, which may charge additional shipping fees. Each item's listing will indicate if there is an additional fee and how long the shipping will take. Free store pickup is available on most products. Each product listing tells how much the shipping will cost, with many of them at no charge.
Returns are permitted for Walmart-sold items
Walmart allows returns but outbound shipping charges are not always refunded. They offer a free, 90-day return policy unless otherwise noted. If you receive a damaged or defective item, you may be eligible for refund or replacement by starting a return in the app. Items may ship from different warehouses and arrive separately, so each package has its own tracking number. Marketplace seller merchandise must be within 30 days and may follow different policies. Be aware that many customers have reported issues about items purchased on Walmart's Marketplace so we advise exercising caution when purchasing baseball equipment from such sellers.
Customer feedback is dismal
Walmart is accredited by the BBB and has an "A+" rating. The megastore has closed nearly 6,000 complaints in the last year, many having to do with returns for online purchases. Across review platforms, Walmart's online shopping platform has earned a range of stars, as high as 4.3 out of 5 stars for under 1,000 reviews on Google, though the most recent reviews are complaints about delivery issues (often from Marketplace orders) and receiving used or damaged items. Lower ratings are overwhelmingly prevalent on other sites, like Yelp, Consumer Affairs, and Trustpilot, where Walmart has earned a dismal 1.1 to 2.1 stars out of 5 from over 140.000 reviewers. While many reviews are related to in-store incidents, online shopping reviews are also represented and customers rant about receiving incorrect items, order cancelations, difficulty with returns, and terrible customer service.
Search for a better option
While Walmart's appeal is the lowest prices, it may come with frustration over receiving used or damaged goods from third-party sellers or the inability to narrow search results and browse only baseball gear. We suggest shopping at one of our higher-ranked choices the next time you need equipment.
Baseball Savings offers more than 25,000 products, many of which feature "innovative and game-breaking technologies" shipped from their Wichita, Kansas, location. A member of The Golf Warehouse family, under Crecera Brands, Baseball Savings has been around since 2005 to become the sport's "#1 Online Superstore."
Great selection from top brands
Offering the top baseball brands such as Adidas, Champro, DeMarini, Easton, Evoshield, Louisville Slugger, Marucci, Mizuno, New Balance, Nike, Rawlings, Under Armour, Warstic, and Wilson, Baseball Savings offers the equipment every player is looking to buy. They offer "an unbeatable selection" for players, coaches, and parents at the lowest price guaranteed. Softball has its own page on the online retailer's site, if you're looking for that gear as well.
Great website to browse
We love the layout of the homepage of the Baseball Savings website. Right away you are presented with the various equipment categories. It is bright and easy to navigate. The Baseball Savings Baseball Guide offers news, tips, and reviews from their panel of experts on the sport. From articles on the types of baseballs and best gloves for high school players to guides on buying the best baseball bat and finding the top cleats for comfort and support, this section of the Baseball Savings website can be very informative.
Competitive prices, excellent number of options
To more accurately compare prices of Baseball Savings with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. Here's how they fared:
Enter your email address to earn a 10% off coupon on the website.
Pay for discount
Baseball Savings offers a fee-based Buyer's Club to give members an extra 10% off any sitewide pricing (including sale prices). The $24.99 fee is non-refundable unless you cancel prior to making a purchase.
Price match valid for up to 14 days after purchase
Claiming to have the low price guarantee - they "constantly search for the lowest prices so you don't have to" - Baseball Savings will match a price you find that is lower if it is for the exact same, in-stock new product (identical brand, size, color, and model number). The product must be available from one of the listed authorized retail websites (no brick-and-mortar retailers), not be liquidation, promotional, special, or limited pricing and cannot be during certain times of the year. Contact Baseball Savings to do the matching, which is not retroactive beyond 14 days from the item ship date.
Shipping can be free
Baseball Savings offers free shipping for orders over $99. Standard shipping costs $8.99. Other options include FedEx Ground ($10. 99), FedEx 2nd day ($15. 99), and FedEx Next Day $25.99. Standard and ground shipping times are calculated at checkout. Optional $2.99 package protection may be added if desired. In-stock merchandise will arrive within three to seven business days, packed well to arrive in perfect shape.
Returns permitted for 30 days
If you aren't 100% satisfied with your purchase, Baseball Savings offers returns within 30 days from purchase in new and unused condition. Shipping costs are non-refundable, and returns are issued as merchandise credit or refund. Manufacturer's bat warranty claims should be taken directly to the manufacturer, though for other items, Baseball Savings will work with the vendor or manufacturer to resolve your warranty issue.
Customer feedback is mixed
While Baseball Savings does not have a listing on the BBB, the related company The Golf Warehouse (which is listed at the bottom of the Baseball Savings website), has a profile as an unaccredited business with an "A+" rating. Across online review platforms, feedback for Baseball Savings itself is sparse and mixed. One has 20 reviews with an incredible 5 out of 5 stars rating while another features 140 reviews leading to a dismal 1.3 average rating. Other online platforms are somewhere between 2.5 to 4.5 stars on average. Unhappy customers rant about "horrendous customer support," being double charged, and shipping issues. Positive reviews note that products arrived on time and they experienced "outstanding" customer service. It's difficult to make a determination with such mixed feedback from low numbers of customers.
Not saving much
Baseball Savings claims to have the unbeatable selection and prices, but falls short when it comes to customer satisfaction. We recommend looking at one of the higher-ranked options on our list when you're buying baseball equipment.
Started in 1948 by Dick Stack with an investment from his grandmother, DICK'S Sporting Goods now has over 850 locations across the United States. The company's online store sells sporting equipment of all kinds.
Top and exclusive brands
DICK'S Sporting Goods offers trending clothing and shoes as well as premium sports equipment from brands like Wilson, Nike, Easton, Under Armour, Adidas, Rawlings, Mizuno, Marucci, Louisville Slugger, and DeMarini. Additionally, they partner with manufacturers to provide DICK'S exclusive offerings as well as having their own signature brands and exclusive, unique collections of equipment only found at DICK'S.
Website is easy browsing
The main webpage for DICK'S Sporting Goods is clean and easy to navigate, with a category banner just under the search bar. Click on sports then baseball and you're in. Alternatively, use the search bar to find what you're looking for on the sports store website. Once you're on the baseball page (softball has its own page), the left side features product categories to browse.
Extensive collections to browse at lower prices
To more accurately compare prices for DICK'S Sporting Goods with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. The results are as follows:
You can sign up for their email program and get a code to use which gives you $20 off a $100 purchase. Overall, the selection of these products is one of the more extensive we've seen, and the prices are some of the lowest.
Price match up to 14 days post purchase
With a best price guarantee, DICK'S Sporting Goods says, "If you find a lower price, we'll match it." The policy is valid on identical products (brand, model number, color, size, weight, and quantity) and in-stock only at a qualifying retailer's store or website (see list of acceptable ones). Use the chat feature on the website to request a price match or give DICK'S a call. The price matching is typically completed quickly to keep your shopping simple, and they will help you place the order for the price-matched product. You have 14 days from the date of purchase to take advantage of the deal.
Shipping is free on most orders with rewards program
There are three shipping methods used by DICK'S Sporting Goods: standard (2-5 business days), expedited (2 business days), and express (1 business day). Curbside pickup and same-day delivery are also available, depending on your location. Those with the ScoreCard rewards program will receive free standard shipping on orders $49 and higher. Standard shipping is available for all on orders of $65 or higher.
Got rewards?
ScoreCard Members can earn rewards on purchases, as well as free shipping for orders $49 or more. ScoreRewards Credit Cards allow holders to earn bonus rewards and double points.
Bat trade-in program
In coordination with SidelineSwap, DICK'S Sporting Goods allows you to trade-in your gently used baseball or softball bat for a DICK'S gift card. First, find the estimated value of your bat by clicking to receive a quote. Then ship your bat using the prepaid postage label, which is free for trade-ins valued at $100 or higher. You will receive a gift card to use towards a future purchase.
Returns permitted for 90 days
Free and easy returns to DICK'S Sporting Goods must be made within 90 days for items with proof of purchase, clean and in resalable condition. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Customers are unhappy
Unfortunately, DICK'S Sporting Goods has been rated "F" by the BBB and is not accredited. The rating is because they failed to resolve complaints against the business. Across online user review platforms, the sports store has mixed reviews. They have been ranked from a dismal 1.11-star average to an excellent 4.7 out of 5 stars. The site with the highest number of reviews is Yelp which collected over 17,000 ratings to put DICK'S at 2.6 out of 5 stars. Customers rant about late shipments and terrible customer service. We recommend looking elsewhere if you don't want to deal with the possibility of having issues with your package.
Not your best option
While DICK'S Sporting Goods may have the biggest selection and lowest prices on baseball equipment, many retailers price match, so you can easily avoid some of the customer complaints described in the reviews by choosing a different retailer on our list.
Epic Sports was incorporated in 2015. The retailer's website offers sports gear for baseball, softball, cheer, football, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, volleyball, and more.
Outdated website and limited brands
The website does not look as sleek as the others we've reviewed on our list, though it's relatively easy to navigate by using the top tabs which list the sports offered. Most of the font is noticeably on the smaller side (under 10 point), which makes it not only difficult to read, but also makes it less visually appealing and look outdated. Brands offered include many of the major players in the sport: Rawlings, Easton, Louisville Slugger, Mizuno, and Under Armour, though noticeably absent are some of the fielding glove, bat, and cleats brands we have seen on most of the other retailers we reviewed.
Good selection of fielding gloves but limited cleats
To more accurately compare prices at Epic Sports with other retailers, we focused on three key items: baseball bats, fielding gloves, and cleats. Here's where they landed:
Overall, while Epic Sports has a good selection of fielding gloves, we were disappointed by their cleats selection and the difficulty browsing we encountered.
Custom team uniforms offered
Epic Sports offers custom sublimated uniforms for your team if this is something you are interested in. However, numerous reviewers complained about receiving them in time.
Shipping can be expensive and take a long time
Some higher-priced items on Epic Sports are marked with "free shipping" on their listings. The company offers "economy shipping" via USPS but it is non-guaranteed delivery and could take up to six days longer than the estimated date to arrive. Once you have an item in your cart, you can estimate shipping based on your zip code. We put in a $20 baseball bat and found charges ranging from economy ($6. 24 and it would be estimated to arrive in two weeks) and standard ($12. 58 and arriving slightly sooner than economy) to one-day shipping for over $53. If you want to get something small, this is not the place to buy it with shipping that can cost more than half of the item's cost or more than the item itself.
Unclear rewards program
Epic Gold Points are earned on purchases to give rewards, which expire 18 months after they are earned. However it was difficult to learn anything about the rewards program beyond this information found on the FAQs page, including how to sign up.
Returns incur restock fee
Returns must be submitted for authorization online prior to shipping them back to Epic Sports or they will not be accepted. They say all products are guaranteed against factory defects and workmanship, and if they are defective, they may be replaced or repaired. Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase (with proof of purchase) and will incur a 20-50% restocking fee, less shipping charges, as long as they are in their original factory packaging. This policy is the worst we have seen as we reviewed the baseball equipment retailers. Only buy if you're certain you're not going to need to return it.
Customer feedback is mixed and concerning
On the BBB, Epic Sports is not accredited and has a "B+" rating due to the 106 complaints filed against the business in the past three years. Shoppers complain about lost items, partial refunds for incorrect items, and terrible customer service. Surprisingly, across online review platforms, Epic Sports has high ratings, with over 4.5 stars out of 5 on multiple sites. Many mentioned the shipping takes longer than expected "but the low prices made it worth the wait." Most people are happy with their orders, though there are complaints about high shipping charges which are not refunded on returns. Reading about some of the complaints was cause for concern: shoppers say the return process is terrible, they're unhappy with the product, items look cheap, and customer support is frustrating. One irate customer emphatically stated, "I wouldn't order from them [again], even if they paid me to take the merchandise."
Look elsewhere
While there are numerous positive reviews for Epic Sports, we looked closely at the complaints. When combined with the terrible return policy, lackluster website, and slow shipping times, we recommend looking elsewhere for your baseball equipment.
