We'd say snag whatever savings you can, because the per-box cost goes up here once you get to the checkout. While it may vary based on where you're sending your BBQ subscription box, we filled in the details for a customer in FL (just to see if it would involve any special cold-packaging surcharge) and got a $3.99 processing fee and a charge of $29.99 for FedEx Overnight on each shipment. That brings the per-box price up to $155.98; do the math on 10-15 pounds of meat and you're looking at a per-pound price of at least $10.
Customer service for online shoppers isn't fantastic
Vincent's Meat Market can be a little hit or miss when it comes to customer service for online customers. For example, on the BBQ subscription box, there was a promotion for free steak pinwheels for life... but the offer expired three years prior to our review. Even the site copyright was two years out of date as of the time of this review. We also noticed that the headline on the Grilling Subscription Box said that pricing starts at $119.99 for delivery every two months, but the dropdown only showed $125.99 no matter which frequency we selected. We called during regular business hours and selected the prompt for all website/online inquiries, but got directed to a (full) voicemail box. We even emailed the customer service account given in the voicemail message, but we never heard back.
Gets a lot of love from repeat customers
However, the reputation of the store overall is excellent, averaging 4.7 out of 5 stars across nearly 300 reviews on Google alone. We double-checked to make sure those reviews weren't all from years ago, and it was good to see that quite a few were left within a few weeks of our visit. While you'll see a few complaints from online customers who didn't think the meats they received were of the quality they were expecting, the vast majority of Vincent's in-person and online shoppers come away happy. We were particularly encouraged to see reviews from loyal patrons who have been getting their meats from Vincent's for over 50 years.
