Compared to other companies we reviewed, the Bike Parts website is spare and uninspirational. While it has a large assortment of all kinds of parts, components, and accessories listed on the home page, the page feels scattered and unorganized -a bit like sorting through a garage junk drawer. There might be something you need there, but there might not.
Complex menu navigation
Each of the main category items in the top-most menu of the site expands when hovered over and exposes a dizzying, confusing, and overwhelming array of categories and subcategories. It feels like you need a search engine specifically for each menu item. It takes up to three or more clicks just to get to a product page depending on how you start.
Limited review and sorting options
There are filters in subcategories so you can narrow down the inventory of bicycle parts to just what you need, though. There isn't a way to sort by most popular according to any reviews. We only saw a spot on each product page where a review might be displayed if any existed, but there was not a way to look up specific reviews without individually clicking on and opening multiple product pages and hoping to find one. We can't even describe the headache we got when looking for something simple like a tube or bike chain, let alone something super-specific for a high-performance bicycle.
Customer support and contact information are hard to come by
Bike Parts offers free shipping on orders over $75. There is a phone number to contact from 10 AM to 6 PM Monday through Friday and 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. Times listed are in the Mountain time zone, so, depending on where you live, don't call too early or too late. There isn't a direct email address shown on the site for any kind of support, but there is a form you can fill out. As well, there's a Skype address, but it's the first we've seen a bike parts store offer and it's hard to imagine how it would be used for effective customer support given that Skype is in such little use these days.
Lack of accreditation and reviews
The Better Business Bureau shows Bike Parts as non accredited and "Not Rated”. We could not locate any reviews for the company on either Google Reviews or Trustpilot. Is there anyone actually buying bicycle parts here?
Poor website usability and design
In general, the whole website usability and design appeal was off putting enough that it probably would not be a positive experience to buy from Bike Parts. There's no objective or even subjective way to get more information about what their customer service or parts quality is like because of a dearth of customer reviews: as in, there aren't any. We're recommending you avoid Bike Parts and shop with any of the more higher-rated companies.
