Where's the best place to shop for bike parts?  When you love riding, your bike becomes more than just a set of wheels - it's your freedom, your workout, your weekend adventure, or even your daily commute. And just like any other well-used machine, it needs some TLC to keep rolling smoothly. Whether you're a casual cruiser, a mountain trail shredder, or a road warrior chasing your next personal best, bike parts are what keep you moving forward (literally).
Bike Parts, the online storefront of Peak Cycles in Golden, Colorado, has been steadily leveling up in the cycling retail space. This shop used to be at the very bottom of our rankings, but a series of website upgrades and better overall customer feedback have moved it into the "worth a look" category. With a brick-and-mortar location in historic downtown Golden and a polished e-commerce site offering more than 55,000 products, Bike Parts is trying to balance hometown service with big-time inventory.
Surprisingly broad inventory
If you like having options, you'll find plenty here. Bike Parts carries everything from apparel and tools to complete bikes, with recognizable brands like Specialized, Giant, Liv, and S-Works in the mix. We drilled into some of the parts categories that every cyclist shops for sooner or later, and here's what we found:
That range gives riders flexibility, whether they're hunting for a budget-friendly replacement or a premium upgrade.
Upgraded shopping experience... mostly
In its latest version, Bike Parts' website feels fresh and easy to use. You'll see right away if an item is in stock or only available in the warehouse (with estimated ship dates clearly displayed), and you can filter out-of-stock products so you're not chasing something unavailable. One funny quirk: scroll to the very bottom of the site and you'll notice a typo in the footer - "Manufactureres" instead of "Manufacturers." (Not a dealbreaker, but worth a chuckle).
Everything you need to know about shipping, returns, and price adjustments
Orders over $75 qualify for free shipping, and local customers can choose free will-call pickup from the Golden shop. The return policy is pretty fair: you'll have 30 days to send back items in new, uninstalled condition for an exchange, refund, or store credit. From 30-60 days, you may still get a return approved but with a 15% restocking fee. Bikes are more complicated: they can only be returned in "exceptional circumstances," within 7 days, and there's a 6% restocking fee. On the plus side, Bike Parts will honor post-purchase price drops: if something you buy goes on sale within 15 days, you can request a price adjustment even if your order has already been processed.
Reputation and reviews are trending upward
Unlike many competitors, Bike Parts doesn't have a separate BBB rating. Parent shop Peak Cycles is listed but marked "not rated" due to the BBB not having enough info to make a judgment call. Still, customer feedback elsewhere is encouraging. Yelp shows a 4.2-star average across 50+ reviews for the Golden location, while Bizrate reviewers give the online shop a solid 9.1 out of 10 across more than 60 post-delivery ratings. In total, over 400 overall reviews are out there, which shows that Bike Parts isn't some no-traffic ghost site: people really are ordering here, and most seem happy with the outcome.
Worth a look
Bike Parts has come a long way since our last evaluation, climbing from a disappointing one-star showing to a mid-pack rating today. A bigger pool of customer feedback and perhaps a BBB rating/accreditation would push this shop higher, but for now, it's a solid option. With tens of thousands of cycling products, free shipping over $75, and the backing of a well-reviewed local bike shop in Colorado, Bike Parts is worth a try for your next order.
Continued from above...
Some of the most commonly-purchased bike parts are the ones that wear out first. Think tires and tubes, brake pads, and chains - all of which can make or break your ride if they're in bad shape. Then there are upgrades you might want for better performance or comfort, like a lighter crankset, a more ergonomic saddle, or a set of high-visibility lights for safer night riding. You'll also find riders stocking up on essentials like grips or bar tape, pedals, and derailleurs, especially if they've taken on a DIY repair project. And of course, there's the customization factor: maybe you're adding a splash of color with anodized components, or swapping in carbon fiber parts to shave ounces off your setup.
Buying bike parts online can be a game changer - especially if you're looking for specific components that aren't in stock at your local shop. Online stores typically have a much wider selection, making it easier to find exactly what fits your bike and your style. You can compare brands and specs side-by-side, read reviews from other riders, and often score better prices than in-store. Many retailers also have guides, sizing charts, or even live chat with experts so you can shop with confidence without having to haul your bike into a store. And for anyone who rides often, buying in bulk (like extra tubes or a few spare chains) can save you both time and money in the long run.
Of course, not all online bike part retailers are created equal. Before you load up your cart, here are some good criteria to keep in mind when deciding where to shop:
Whether you're replacing worn-out parts, upgrading your bike for better performance, or just grabbing a spare or two for your gear stash, the right bike parts store can make all the difference. That's where we come in: the team at Top Consumer Reviews has done the research to review and rank some of today's most popular bike parts stores, so you can skip the guesswork and get back to riding. Happy trails!
