While the cost of brownies at The Brownie Gourmet is very high, the shipping fee is actually quite reasonable. When we put in our checkout details, we were quoted just $10 for delivery in our area. However, in the site's FAQ, The Brownie Gourmet says that their shipping is 100% free to most US states. Since we were not able to change our shipping options, there was no way to reduce the $10 shipping fee to zero. We reached out to their customer service team to ask about this and didn't hear back after 24 hours.

In our area, shipping costs $9.95, which was one of the lower delivery fees in our review. Confusing refund policies

Refund and reship details for Baked Cravings can be found in the custom order section of the site's FAQ. This is a little confusing as the brownies don't seem to be a custom order. When we reached out through the online customer service chat, we were directed back to the same FAQ instead of receiving a response to our question about brownie returns. According to the custom order policy, you can cancel an order within 12 hours of placing it to get a full refund. If you cancel after 12 hours but before your order is prepared, you'll get 80% back. But once production starts, you can only get 50% of your order's value in store credit. That also doesn't really tell us what happens if the brownies are damaged or spoiled in transit.

Some concerns about spam reviews

While Baked Cravings has a lot of positive feedback on its own website, some of these reviews seem to be spam. While there are a few reviews with photos of the brownies, there are also reviews on the listing that just say "e” in the text field. There are 30 different packages of brownies available at David's Cookies. Across the different packages, we found around 6-8 different flavors. You can expect assortments to have flavors like Chocolate Chip, Pecan, Peanut Butter Swirl, Blondie, Cheesecake, or Macaroon. About half of the brownie packages include cookies or crumb cake in the shipment as well, but you can find some that are just brownies if you're hoping for a more focused gift or treat for yourself.

Navigating the website for Harry & David can feel overwhelming when you first arrive. To locate brownies, the fastest way to get what you want is to use the keyword "brownies” in the search bar. If you prefer to go through the existing categories, you'll want to use the "Bakery” tab and click on "Cookies & Brownies”. However, this will show you a combination of the two treats rather than focusing directly on brownies. So, if you don't want to see extras, using the search bar is your best bet. Looking through the listings is a feast for your eyes: the photos show brownies with their names, star ratings, and prices. When you click on a specific treat, you'll see a full description of the flavors and textures included in a particular box, and options for packaging. However, allergen information is absent.

Huge inventory but hard to find flavors

According to the search results, there are 210 different boxes and treats that include brownies. Whether you want fudge brownies, holiday flavors, or frosting-coated brookies and bars, there are hundreds of flavors to choose from. There are so many brownies on Harry & David that we can only estimate how many different types you might find. Some of the standout flavors include:

For just brownies, the Holly Jolly box is a good middle-ground price at $42.95 per box for 12 different brownie flavors.

Shipping costs for Harry & David are reasonable, though they vary depending on your location. For our area, the estimated shipping was $18.98. As an added option, you can subscribe to Harry & David's "Celebrations Passport” which costs $19.99 per year and offers you free standard shipping on most items. Not all treats qualify though, so you may want to check if your preferred brownie box applies before you decide to subscribe.

Promised refund or reship on problematic orders

Harry & David promises customer satisfaction through its refund policy. The policy states that they will make things right if your order doesn't meet your expectations. The listed policy promises either a full refund or a replacement of your original order. However, if you're hoping for a huge selection of brownies, you might be disappointed by the menu at Magnolia Bakery.

Exploring Magnolia Bakery's website is a breeze. By clicking the "Order Now” button, you can choose to shop by delivery date or by category. To find brownies, you'll want to jump down to the "Brownies & Bars” button which is second in the list. From there, you'll be taken to a scrolling list where Magnolia Bakery's flavors and assortments are listed in a scrolling window. Browsing the listings will show you a small photo of the brownie flavors, a short description of the flavors included, and the price. When you jump into the listings themselves, you'll see a full ingredients list, allergen warnings, and how many brownies come in each package (usually 2).

Extremely limited inventory

Regrettably, the inventory at Magnolia Bakery isn't particularly exciting. There are only three items on the "Brownies & Bars” page that are actually brownies (and one of those is technically a blondie). You'll find two total flavors at Magnolia Bakery: Double Fudge and Chocolate Chunk Blondie. Beyond that, you'll find a few lemon bars, peppermint bark, or toffee bark, but no other brownies. However, there's one massive snag: you cannot buy the individual brownie two-packs if you are shipping nationally. You can only buy the Brownie & Blondie Combo with 8 total bars.

Priced at $31 per package

While the brownie/blondie flavors (Double Fudge or Chocolate Chunk), are priced at $7.90 for two total treats, you aren't able to buy these unless you're local. Instead, your only option is to buy the Brownie & Blondie Combo for $31. This includes 8 total items with four of each flavor.

Shipping can double the cost of brownies

To help you avoid sticker shock, we checked out the shipping costs, and they're pretty steep. For our area, Magnolia Bakery only offered one delivery frequency, and we were quoted shipping and handling fees of $35. This means your reasonably-priced brownies (at $31 for the treats themselves) will come out to a total of over $60 for just eight brownies. Ouch.

No refund policy

At this time, Magnolia Bakery doesn't offer a helpful refund policy. While the bakery suggests you reach out via email for any concerns you have about orders, according to the FAQ, all issues will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The FAQ also states that all brownies shipped nationwide are considered final sale, and you won't receive any refund. The FAQ does not say if Magnolia Bakery will offer a reship or another kind of recourse, but you can be sure you won't get your money back.

Customers agree service is "rude”

According to our research, Magnolia Bakery has received a "C-” rating from the Better Business Bureau, reflecting what we've seen on the website for its dismal customer service policies. Online feedback is sparse with only a handful of reviews across Trustpilot and the BBB. Most customers left complaints about shipping issues. There are some solid reviews on Tripadvisor for this company, but a large number of recent reviews complain about the rudeness of the owners and staff. While we couldn't find any reviews specifically about the brownies, reviews are mixed on the quality and flavor of the other treats available at Magnolia Bakery.

Needs a serious overhaul to be competitive

Regrettably, there's really nothing to recommend Magnolia Bakery. There is only one brownie pack to buy with just one actual brownie flavor in the shipment.
