Once you select one of these categories, you can narrow it down further by subcategories, so it's super easy to browse everything you might need.

Stock up on snacks

Bob Ward's also offers 80 food items. Among the more standard camping fare, you'll find some unique food choices like the Oregon Freeze Dry Mountain House Classic Biscuits & Gravy for $14.99 for 3 servings. To be honest, though, the description kind of turned our stomachs. It says, "What do computers, cars and your mom's permed hair all have in common? They were all much bigger in the 80s,” and follows up with a line about the nostalgia factor of their recipes. We don't want to see "hair” and "food” in the same description, although Bob Ward's can probably get away with it - the people shopping for freeze dried food for a camping trip are probably not the people with delicate appetites who are fussy about presentation. If you want to feel like an astronaut, you can also buy freeze dried ice cream sandwiches here.

No price matching means you might find cheaper elsewhere

You can also filter by brand. They have all the big ones, like Osprey, Big Agnes, Yeti, The North Face, and GSI Outdoor, to name a few. Even Gerber, who makes knives and multitools, is on the list here. They're not the same company as the one that makes baby food, thankfully. Bob Ward's does not do price matching. The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL3 tent we're using as a benchmark is $599, the high end of what we're seeing on most camping gear websites.

When you browse through CampSaver's website, you'll come across a pop-up with a spin-to-win mini-game. It offers up to 20% off one full-priced item in your first order, but it's designed in a way that tricks you into thinking you have a chance of getting the 5% or 10% slots on the wheel. So when you inevitably get the 20% off, you feel like a winner and are compelled to shop. It might be a clever tactic to encourage you to make a purchase, but we didn't appreciate the sleight-of-hand - especially since CampSaver's competitors often give you the same amount off your entire first order.

When comparing inventory across camping gear sites, we found that Big Agnes 3-person tent on CampSaver for about $20 cheaper than competitors - only $579.95 with free two-day shipping.
