Everyone loves to decorate with unique pieces that last a lifetime, and what better way to personalize your at-home art gallery than with canvas prints of your favorite photos, memories, or people? Whether you're a fan of family photos or you're an artist who wants to commemorate your most recent design, custom canvas prints are a great way to memorialize your favorite pieces like a pro collector.
This eye-catching method of displaying your art is easy to get and will elevate your gallery wall to the next level. A canvas print is exactly what it says on the package: an image printed onto a canvas. A custom canvas print creates a more artistic feel than a standard print or photo, as it looks similar in shape and design to oil and acrylic paintings.

CanvasHQ is a family-owned company that got its start in a hotel. Yep, in Rogers, AR, the founders launched their business with a commission to decorate hotel rooms with unique canvas art, and in 2010 CanvasHQ was born. The goal at CanvasHQ is to provide high-quality canvases with faster and simpler printing. With its digital proofing system, CanvasHQ promises that you'll be able to see exactly what you're buying before you order. Its graphics team is on standby to offer fixes and adjustments to make your canvas print 100% perfect. CanvasHQ is also an award-winning company, and it earned the "Best Canvas Print Award” from PhotographyTalk in 2020 and 2021.
Lifetime guarantee
The materials used at CanvasHQ are top quality. The canvases are tested by independent labs to prove that they meet the standards for the Fine Art Trade Guide for pH and light fastness. You're getting an archival-quality canvas made of poly-cotton. The ink used by CanvasHQ is also top-notch. The company prints in commercial-grade ink for outdoor use to stand up to moisture and offer fading resistance. As such, CanvasHQ offers a lifetime guarantee against fading when you mount your art out of direct sunlight.
Tons of styles and sizes
As for design options, whether you want a portrait, square, landscape, or a custom-size canvas, CanvasHQ has it all. You can pick from 16 sizes of portrait-style, 14 sizes of square, and 13 sizes of landscape canvas prints. The company also allows you to split your photo between two or three canvases to cover more space on your walls. You can pick between five border styles: image wrap, mirror wrap, black, white, or a custom color. You can also choose a variety of frame thicknesses under the canvas and extra frames on the outside of the canvas for a more finished look. There are a few extras you can add at no additional cost to your finish to make it shine (literally).
Best-in-class design simplicity
The process for getting your canvas print ready is a breeze at CanvasHQ. You start by uploading your photo and all the options appear right away. You can pick from size, border, frame, canvas finish, and image effects, and add written instructions if needed right on the design window. You can move or crop your photo, and you can preview the image in 3D. Once you're finished, you can see a free proof sent to your email as well as ask for a free image touchup from the CanvasHQ team. Once you name your canvas (an original art piece by you), you're all set to add to cart.
Prices from $17.95 to $118.95 without add-ons
Okay, so let's talk about prices. If you're looking for discounts, this won't be it. You're getting archival-quality canvases, so you're going to need to expect some higher starting costs. The cheapest canvas size is the 8x8 square for $17.95. This price doesn't include upgrades like semi-gloss or gloss finish or extra image effects. The most expensive single canvas is the 34x40 which costs $118.95 without any add-ons. With top-quality add-ons, like a gold floating frame and an image effect, the final price for the 34x40 is $468.95.
Shipping is always free
CanvasHQ offers fast and free shipping through FedEx. The turnaround time may take around 7-10 days, but you don't have to pay for shipping at this canvas print site ever. Plus, if your canvas is somehow damaged during transit, CanvasHQ promises to take care of the damage claim and ship a free replacement right away.
Satisfaction guarantee
On top of free shipping, you can expect to take advantage of CanvasHQ's 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. You just need to let the service team know if you're not happy with your order (within 30 days of receiving your canvas print), and CanvasHQ will either remake the print or refund your money. Plus, the lifetime guarantee we mentioned includes fading, cracking, and bubbling as long as you keep your artwork out of direct sunlight - you know, like a museum piece.
Top scores for high-quality prints
CanvasHQ has a terrific "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. Along with that high praise, there are tons of customer ratings on CanvasHQ offering impressive feedback for CanvasHQ's quality assurance team. Tons of 5-star reviews cover topics like canvas quality, image and print quality, and plans by customers to start their next order. On third-party review sites, CanvasHQ earns 5 stars in areas like popularity and features offered.
Museum-quality pieces for your canvas prints
There's no denying that if you want your home to feel like an art collector's dream, the archival-quality canvases at CanvasHQ are going to be your go-to choice. While the prices are higher than average, you get a lot of bang for your buck. With free shipping, satisfaction guarantees, and a simple design program to set up your canvas print, there aren't any downsides to shopping at CanvasHQ. This award-winning "A+” company easily earns the top spot in our review.
Canvas Discount, owned by Picanova Inc., has been offering low prices for canvas prints since its inception in 2010. Based in Miami, FL, Canvas Discount is a popular online gift and printing shop that focuses on photos, wall art, and photo gifts without breaking the bank. You can expect a range of photo-printing services including canvas prints made and manufactured in the United States. Canvas Discount also utilizes renewable energy sources to power its manufacturing sites to promote sustainable practices.
Fewer style choices than competitors
While Canvas Discount promotes sustainability and promises that its canvas materials are sourced with care, we searched all over the site and couldn't find any details on the actual materials in the canvas. The ink used is latex-based, and based on Canvas Discount's promise for vivid clarity on your canvas prints, we'd guess that the company is probably using polyester or a blend of poly and cotton. There are four types of canvas prints you can buy at Canvas Discount including single photos, collages (multiple photos, single canvas), full wall displays (multiple canvases), and hanging wall canvases. Compared to other sites that offer a variety of shapes and styles, Canvas Discount has only one style of single canvas. You can choose from six sizes starting at 8x8 and ranging up to 24x36.
Limited editing ability
The digital editor is pretty limited at Canvas Discount. You can easily upload your photo (or photos) from the listing page. This will take you to a window that offers the print formats best suited for your photo based on its resolution and shape (landscape or portrait). Once you choose your size, you pick a hanger set, frame thickness, and edge design. If you want to add text, there is a button under the photo preview that allows you to type and position text. However, you only have 17 pre-selected fonts to choose from. Beyond that, the only editing you can do is to reposition your photo so it sits where you want on the preview canvas.
Prices from $4.30 to $229 without extras
Canvas Discount offers competitively-priced canvases. The cheapest canvas print starts at $4.30 per canvas (for an 8x8 print). The highest price for a single canvas print is a 36x40 for just $90. The most expensive canvas print style you can buy is the wall display which can range from 3-7 different canvases arranged together. The cheapest is $49 for a wall display that takes up 16x40 of space on your wall. The most expensive is a $229 display that covers 60x72 of your wall. As you go through your purchase, some elements like hanging tools will add extra costs, so your final price may be higher depending on what you add.
Shipping is free on orders $70+
Canvas Discount offers a decent deal for shipping. You can get free shipping on any order over $70. Most delivery times range between 2-5 business days. This accounts for 1 day of production and 1-4 days of actual shipping. If you have an order under the $70 price mark, you can expect to pay $7.90 for shipping and handling.
Price match guarantee
While Canvas Discount offers a Best Price Guarantee, it doesn't offer a separate satisfaction guarantee. The price guarantee page promises that Canvas Discount is "committed to providing the ultimate customer experience.” The site offers to undercut any competing price by 10%. For items to qualify, they need to be the same size, the price must be currently available, and the items must be sold stretched on the frame already.
A top pick for quality, price, and speed
While Canvas Discount itself doesn't have a page on the Better Business Bureau, its parent company Picanova Inc. does. The good news is that Picanova currently holds an "A+” rating on the BBB and a 4.7-star average rating too. On other review sites, where the reviews are specifically for Canvas Discount, the ratings are just as solid. Trustpilot shows a 4.7-star average rating across over 40,000 individual customer reviews. In general, customers who left reviews on Trustpilot were thrilled with their orders. Many canvas print enthusiasts come back to Canvas Discount again and again. Reviewers praise the color and quality of the canvas prints as well as the incredibly fast shipping and fulfillment at Canvas Discount. We struggled to find any negative reviews for this canvas print retailer.
Best site for discount canvas prints
There are very few downsides to choosing Canvas Discount for your next canvas print. While Canvas Discount may not have the most style options compared to its competitors, its prices are great, and with a price match guarantee, you can be sure you're getting the best deal on your canvas prints. Plus, with rave reviews from customers and the BBB, there's nothing to lose by giving Canvas Discount a try. For these reasons, Canvas Discount earns a very high rating in our review.
Vistaprint is another large company built for printing all sorts of fun gifts, canvases, and business-related items like posters, flyers, and business cards. Vistaprint, owned by Cimpress, got started in 1995 to help small business owners create custom designs to support their enterprises. So, if you're an artist wanting to make canvas prints of your art, this is a great site to check out. If you're looking for something more personal to display your family memories, Vistaprint can do that too. Vistaprint's custom canvas prints are made using fade-proof latex ink alongside technology to improve the brilliance of your image's colors during printing.
Choose from three canvas types
There are three different types of canvas prints to choose from on Vistaprint. There are standard canvas prints, easel-back canvases, and photo tiles which come in canvas. There are six sizes of the standard canvas prints ranging from 8x8 to 24x36. Easel-back canvas prints come in just two sizes (8x8 and 8x10), and the photo tiles also offer two sizes (8x8 and 5x7). You can choose between two frame-backing types, wood and foam, and Vistaprint provides built-in hangers for free. Vistaprint also offers a range of design templates to guide you through designing your perfect custom canvas print. You can choose to use one of these to enhance your image or let the image stand by itself.
High-quality editor with tons of features
The editor allows you to upload photos from either your computer or your phone, and then you can jump right in. The preview image shows safety areas where you want your image and elements to be. You can add text, graphics, QR codes, and even tables to your design. Graphics include free shapes, icons, and clip art that you can drag and drop onto your image. If you decide to start without a template, you can easily add one during the design process by clicking "change template” on the top of the window. You can choose from themes like "Baby,” "Back to School,” "Holiday,” and more. It's 100% customizable. The preview button (also on the top of the screen) will show you a front and side view (in 3D) of your final design before you add it to the cart. Once you're finished, the online editor will notify you if any fields need extra review, and you can move on to choosing a frame style or lamination (for extra costs).
Prices from $7.49 to $78.74
The prices at Vistaprint are 100% transparent and won't break the bank. The lowest-cost canvas print is $7.49 for an 8x8. This cost includes all of the templates used, text, icons, and more. The only add-ons for pricing are if you want a frame around the outside of the canvas or lamination on the final image. The most expensive canvas print is a 24x36 size for $78.74.
Shipping free on orders $100+
Vistaprint offers free standard shipping on any order over $100. This threshold is much higher than many other sites in our review. However, if you do have to pay for shipping, it's reasonably priced. Vistaprint offers standard shipping for $5.99 to our area. If you want express shipping, it will cost $18.99.
Concern resolution within 24 hours
Vistaprint doesn't offer a specific satisfaction guarantee, but it does promise to address any concerns you have about your order. According to the Vistaprint website, any product issues should be reported to Vistaprint ASAP. They will get back to you within 24 hours, and promise to follow up with you and make the situation right. However, there aren't any listed return or refund time frames. So, if you're worried about specifics, you may want to reach out to customer service before making a purchase.
Customers love their experience
Despite a somewhat minimal policy for returns, Vistaprint is a standout for customer satisfaction (you may not need to worry about those returns in the first place). Vistaprint currently holds an "A-” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and it's highly popular on Trustpilot. Reviews have led to a 4.6-star average rating for Vistaprint, and shoppers frequently praise the service team for being responsible and providing quick resolutions when the need arises. People love the quality and the flexibility in the online design tool. There is praise for pricing, specific service reps, and overall quality across the board.
Perfect for artists and homeowners alike
If you're looking for a one-stop shop where you can print business or home-art designs at competitive costs, Vistaprint is a great place to look. It's a competitive option with solid customer service and a great design tool. While it may not have quite as many canvas print styles as our top picks, it's a fun site to design on, and worth your money. For this reason, Vistaprint earns a high rating in our review. Plus, it's a great place for artists trying to go pro and sell quality canvas prints. Only its lack of a built-out satisfaction guarantee and a lower free shipping minimum keeps Vistaprint from a higher rating.
CanvasPeople got started in 2009 when the founders' passion for photography and home decoration springboarded an idea to provide those services to others. The ethos of CanvasPeople is that you should show off your photos like art rather than just dropping your memories on social media. With eco-friendly inks, sustainably sourced pine wood, and print methods that promote a healthy environment, you can create more "forever” memories while feeling good about your global impact. Plus with the CanvasPeople team ready to assist you "at every step”, you should expect top-notch service when you buy canvas prints here.
Limited size options for canvases
CanvasPeople specializes in print work on unusual surfaces. You can find photo pillows, metal prints, as well as single canvas prints or collage canvases. The canvas prints at CanvasPeople are 0.75-inch wrapped canvas made from a heavyweight poly-cotton. The backing frames are made from solid pinewood, all sustainably sourced. You can choose an exterior floating frame color; black, white, or espresso or keep your canvas unframed. The canvas prints only come in 4 sizes (or you can choose a custom size). In this area, CanvasPeople feels more limited compared to other sites that offer dozens of sizes.
Easy editor updates live
Start editing your photos by uploading a file to CanvasPeople; you can choose from JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, HEIC, or HEIF file formats. From there, you can zoom in and crop your photo until you're happy with the fit. The live updating image on CanvasPeople can be switched to 3D, so you can see it as it will appear in real life. As you select sizing, edge styles, and frames, those will update too, so you get a complete preview before you buy. You'll have the option to add a filter like black and white, sepia, vintage, or lomo.
Prices from $22.20 to $375 without upgrades
Pricing is where CanvasPeople will get you. The cheapest canvas starts at $115. Yep, where most places come in under $20, the 8x12 canvas print at CanvasPeople is over $100 without any upgrades. The most expensive canvas print is $375 without any add-ons. If you choose upgrades like a wood frame, you'll add on an additional $124, and some of the filters (sepia, vintage, and lomo) have upcharges too. If you pick lomo (for $25 extra), your final cost will be $524 at the high end. Interestingly, at the time of our review, the site updated during browsing to show different sale prices for the same items. The lowest-priced item suddenly changed to $22.20 with no upgrades and $59 for the largest canvas print with no upgrades. This change appeared to be part of a seasonal sale.
No standard free shipping, only coupons
Thankfully, standard shipping, which is about a week to ten days out from your order date, is normally free with CanvasPeople. However, there are no mentions of a price threshold for requiring free shipping. We chatted with a customer service rep to get the details and discovered that according to their policy, there is no free shipping offered at this time (which contradicts what we saw in our cart after building out a canvas). According to the rep, we got lucky with a coupon code that auto-applied to our order. So, you may end up paying full price for shipping depending on when you shop.
No guarantee of a refund
CanvasPeople doesn't have a listed satisfaction guarantee. The return policies are hidden in the company's FAQ. According to those policies, you will need to take photos to display any damage if there's something wrong with your canvas, and if there is adequate proof, CanvasPeople will replace your canvas with a new one ASAP. If you're not happy with your order for another reason, you can contact the service team, but there are no promises. Under refunds, CanvasPeople is pretty vague. They hope to "fix the issue” instead of processing a refund. If you prefer a refund, CanvasPeople only states that it "could” do that for you, but there's no guarantee.
Most customers love the experience and quality
Despite our concerns about CanvasPeople's lack of a return policy and lack of free shipping, customers enjoy shopping at this provider. CanvasPeople has a top-notch "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, a 4.4-star average from Trustpilot, and a 4.8-star average from Sitejabber. Across reviews, shoppers praise the quality of the final product, and it's clear that most reviewers never need to consider returns. The only general complaint seen across reviews is that CanvasPeople could do a much better job at protecting paintings during shipping. While most customers' items came undamaged, there was general concern about "cheap” or minimal packaging.
A pricey but high-quality service
While we'd still love to see some more customer support policies at CanvasPeople, the reviews don't lie. Customers are very pleased with the quality and clarity of the canvas prints at CanvasPeople. It is more expensive than other competitors, though, even on sale, so for this reason, it sits just above the middle tier rating. There's room for CanvasPeople to grow before it becomes one of the top sites in our review.
Canvas Press is another family-owned canvas print company in our review. Canvas Press got started when Doak Walker created the company in 2006, and this service offers a home-grown vibe from the heart of Texas. The company started small, focusing on making professional art printing more accessible to the general public. Canvas Press now has a global reach, but it promises to retain that "family " feel with US-made materials and customer service that puts you first.
6 styles and 11 sizes
Six different products fall under the category of canvas prints at Canvas Press. You can choose from the .75-inch Canvas Print, 1.5-inch Canvas Print, 2-inch Canvas Print, Non-stretched Canvas, Traditional Framed Canvas, and Float Framed Canvas. There are 11 different standard sizes for most types of canvases, and you can also choose a custom size if you have a specific vision for your photo. You can choose different wrap styles (if you want a stretched canvas) from mirror, image, and color wraps. However, there are some limited options at Canvas Press. For example, there are only three finishes to choose from and no overlays or color changes like black and white or sepia. Further, you won't find any uniquely shaped canvases like ovals or hearts here. You can pick from standard shapes in landscape or portrait orientation.
Easy to use
The Canvas Press design tool is simple to navigate. You start by selecting a product, and from there you can upload your chosen photo. Canvas Press accepts PNG, JPG, TIF, and SVG file formats. We're impressed with the inclusion of SVG images, as these are vector files allowing you to scale the image without any distortion. If you have an account with Canvas Press, you can save previous images to your library and select them directly from the design tool. This is ideal if you're an artist who regularly needs to make prints of your work.
Editor has a user-friendly but professional feel
You can also choose from Canvas Press' free images using the search feature. Once you have an image, you can either select a custom size or a standard size for your canvas print. Canvas Press will suggest the ideal size based on the photo you upload, but you can change this at any time. Canvas Press has little touches of pro tools too. For example, if you want to change the border color, you can use the color picker on the top bar of the editor or you can use the HEX code for a particular color if you're an artist with very specific color guidelines.
Prices from $18.85 to $285.08 without upgrades
The prices at Canvas Press are a little higher than other companies in our review. For example, the lowest-priced canvas is the non-stretch canvas. This starts at $18.85 for an 8x8 size. The most expensive option you can buy is the float frame canvas. The largest size, 40x30, is $285.08 per canvas print. Most of the changes you can make are free of charge. Things like edge color and style are free to update. The only upgrade that costs extra is the finish. If you choose a standard canvas with a satin finish, there's no charge. If you add museum glossy or museum matte, there will be an additional cost that changes slightly depending on which canvas you buy. During our research, the 8x8 0.75-inch canvas went from $22.53 for a standard canvas finish to $23.63 for museum-quality finishes. However, a more expensive canvas (like a 24x16 2-inch canvas) starts at $84.68 for no finish and goes up to $91.35 for a museum finish.
Shipping starts at $20 per order
Shipping costs at Canvas Press are based on the package size. On average, the shipping for FedEx Home or Ground Shipping is around $20 for most items. Only items over 40 inches will incur higher charges of $50 or more if freight services are required. You can also pay extra for 3-day express shipping that ranges from $35 to $120 depending on the size of your item. At the time of our review, we couldn't find any evidence of free shipping options at Canvas Press.
Satisfaction guarantee but limited return qualifications
Canvas Press offers a Lifetime Guarantee for its canvas prints. If your canvas should have or develop any defects (resulting from craftsmanship or material issues) Canvas Press promises to correct the issue free of charge. On the other hand, you do have to ship the defective canvas back to the company's facility in Houston, TX. There is no mention if this shipping-back is on the customer or included in the zero charge policy of the guarantee. If you want to replace your canvas for something other than damage, you need to contact support within 30 days from the day your canvas print arrives. However, Canvas Press states that it's not responsible for issues with poor image quality, color choices, or misspelled text that are customer errors.
Not enough customers offering feedback
It was hard to find much buzz for Canvas Press. The Better Business Bureau has pages for many similar sites, but not specifically for Canvas Press. The only third-party review site that had any feedback for Canvas Press was Sitejabber (with only 6 total reviews). Most of these reviews are 4-5 stars, but there are so few reviews it's hard to say if this is an accurate reflection of most customers' experiences. For a company that's been open since 2006, we're surprised at how few reviews are available. From what we found, shoppers like the quality of the prints, but there were also a few complaints about slow shipping or poor customer service, but again, out of six reviews, it's hard to say how accurately this represents the real experience at Canvas Press.
A middle-of-the-road option
With higher prices, no free shipping, and a limited amount of customer feedback, Canvas Press doesn't stand out as well as it could. While we're still impressed with the design editor's professional feel and the quality of the canvas styles offered, there are some things this family-owned site could improve on. For this reason, it receives a balanced score in our review with the opportunity to move up in the future if it works on more competitive policies and improves customer feedback.
If you're thinking Canvas Vows sounds like it's a place for wedding gifts, you're spot on. Featured in wedding publications like Brides and The Knot, Canvas Vows is a canvas print site that serves everyone, but with a focus on creating wedding-appropriate memories that last a lifetime. Whether you want to display your family name or create an anniversary canvas, you can craft all sorts of unique home decor designs at Canvas Vows. Plus, the options aren't limited to weddings - you can create a personalized canvas print with any design or photo.
Not a lot to choose from
There are five different canvas print categories to browse at Canvas Vows: personalized canvas wall art, canvas prints, standard canvas wall art, 3-piece canvas art, and 5-piece canvas art. However, many of these are not styles where you can upload a photo. If you want to use your own image, you'll want to browse the canvas prints specifically. You can choose from a sizeless (you design) canvas print, a set 16x20 canvas print, and a 20x30 canvas print. When you open up the "you design” version, you'll see 17 different sizes to choose from, but not much else. In general, the selection is pretty bare-bones at Canvas Vows.
No extra designing available
The editor here is extremely simple. The only thing you can personalize is the image (which you upload on the listing page) and the size. Beyond that, there aren't any edits you can make to the canvas print - no finishes, no overlays, nothing. There isn't even really a "design” editor. Just a quick upload feature and a button that allows you to add your canvas print to the cart. There is a window for adding text personalization, but it's unclear where this text will go as the preview image doesn't update with your changes. For some personalized orders, you will send Canvas Vows your photo after you make your purchase. You'll receive a thank you email that directs you to send your photo to Canvas Vows at that point.
Prices from $19 to $299
The pricing is simple and transparent at Canvas Vows. The cheapest canvas print is $19 for an 8x8 canvas. The most expensive is $299 for a 30x52 print. Without any add-ons available, the price you see is the price you get. You don't have to worry about seeing a sudden jump in cost by adding a different finish or edge color.
Some on-site glitches need attention
We ran into some technical troubles while browsing Canvas Vows. During checkout, we added just 1 product to cart during our research on shipping fees. However, when we went to the checkout window, there was a duplicate item in our cart that we couldn't delete. We ended up having to use a completely different browser to get rid of the extra item in the cart. And, yes, the duplicate item also doubled the price.
Free US shipping in the contiguous 48 states
Canvas Vows offers totally free shipping on all its orders. This is a great feature that helps Canvas Vows stand out from its competitors who often have cost thresholds to meet before you qualify for free shipping. You can expect a 1-2-day processing time and then free shipping in 3-5 days. Only the states of Hawaii and Alaska don't qualify for the free shipping policy.
Refund with 100% satisfaction guarantee
Canvas Vows offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee for all its orders. The policy states that if there are any issues with your canvas print order, you can contact their customer service department for a full refund. Plus, all of the canvas prints come ready to hang, so you don't have to worry about adding extra costs to your guaranteed quality print.
Not a lot of buzz for Canvas Vows
While it's harder to find reviews for Canvas Vows than at other sites, it has a standout rating from the Better Business Bureau. Currently, the BBB shows an "A+” rating for Canvas Vows. While there are currently zero reviews on the BBB, an "A+” rating shows a history of trustworthiness. However, we also found zero reviews for Canvas Vows at third-party sites like Trustpilot and Sitejabber. The only place we were able to dig up feedback on this retailer was Facebook where Canvas Vows has a 4.4-star average across just under 40 total reviews. In general, we like to see a bit more buzz for companies we recommend, but the BBB's high rating is still great news.
Good but not great
There are a lot of pros and cons to consider for Canvas Vows. The selection of canvas prints is pretty limited, and with almost no ability to edit your images (or even preview them), this site doesn't stand out from the more creative providers in our review. While we love the satisfaction guarantee and free shipping, the lack of general reviews for this site raises a few questions about how many people are using Canvas Vows for their canvas prints. But with an "A+” from the BBB to back up our own rating, Canvas Vows earns a decent middle-ground score overall.
Canvas Champ is an international company that offers global manufacturing of handmade canvas prints. The company got its start in 2012 and has since garnered over 5,000 loyal customers and offers 100+ different products with the promise to continue adding more. Canvas Champ is backed by Prints and Signs International, LLC, and its sole purpose is to deliver custom photo gifts and products to art enthusiasts around the world. While they offer prints on a variety of surfaces (wood, pillows, mugs, and more), printing photos on canvas is Canvas Champ's main event.
Fun shapes and frames too
Canvas Champ promises that its handmade canvas prints are made using state-of-the-art technology. The canvases are made of poly-cotton designed for sharp colors and the print process uses latex-based ink with UV protection. This way, your art or photos will never fade or bleed. You can find square, panoramic, circle, triangle, oval, and heart-shaped canvases with sizing from 8x8 to 30x40 and multiple wooden frame options including standard, premium, and floating frames. With a "create your own” canvas listing, you can be in control of the final image print from start to finish.
Tons of edits with artistic finishes
When you kick off your design, select a product from the 17 different canvases. You can choose from split single canvases, split canvases, full wall displays, and 7-hexagon panels together to form one art piece. Then, you upload an image or images. Your image must be 25 MB or smaller to upload which allows for high-res images too. You can upload from your desktop, select from Canvas Champ's stock photos, or import your favorite photos from Instagram. Once the image is online, you can move it around the canvas and see where the folds will stop. Canvas Champ accepts JPG, PNG, and BMP file formats. You can also design your wrap (the part of the image that wraps over the sides of the canvas frame). You can choose the height of the wrap from 0.5-1.5 inches or pick a hanging canvas. You can also choose from a mirror image border, a continuation of your image around the wrap, or a colored border. Finally, you choose your hardware from a series of hangers or easel stands as well as color finishes like "original,” "sepia,” and "grayscale” as well as more artistic finishes like a "caricature” or "Andy Warhol” finishes to enhance the artistic style.
Prices from $3.90 to $383.70 without add-ons
Prices at Canvas Champ depend on all the final designs you add to your print. But if you go with the basics, the prices start as low as $3.90 for a single 8x8 print. The highest price is $383.70 for a 45x45. The most expensive starting print is the Digital Painting which begins at $43.88 for an oil-style painting with 1 person pictured. The most expensive oil painting starts at $69.99 for a comic style.
Standard shipping is free on purchases $99+
Over 100 of the custom canvas prints on Canvas Champ are ready to ship within 24 hours. The price of shipping depends on what you buy. If you choose standard shipping, this will take 6-7 business days. Shipping is $9.99 on any order under $99. Orders that are over the $99 threshold are shipped for free. If you choose express shipping, you'll get delivery within 5-6 business days, but the price is $14.99 on orders up to $55. Shipping for express is never offered for free but is instead a smaller percent of the value of your purchase (20% of your order value on purchases $55 to $149).
Satisfaction guarantee for 99 years
Canvas Champ offers an impressive return policy with free returns and a full refund if you don't love your canvas print. The company promises no hassle and the return process is free of charge. You will also get a 99-year guarantee that your image won't fade or your money will be returned to you.
Some praise for prints, but not canvases
Regrettably, despite the satisfaction guarantee, Canvas Champ currently holds a concerning "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. This seems chiefly due to the unanswered complaints on the BBB platform, as on other third-party review sites the feedback is more balanced. For example, on Trustpilot, Canvas Champ has a solid 4-star average. Customers love the quick shipping and the quality of the products. However, there are a handful of concerning reviews about orders that never arrive or some issues with image streaking on the final canvas prints. On Sitejabber, the news was more mid-tier with a 3-star average. Here, we found a lot more complaints about prints arriving damaged. Most of the complaints seemed to be regarding the canvas prints specifically while the praise for high-quality items went to mug prints, pillow prints, and the variety of Canvas Champ's other offerings.
Not a "Champ” for canvas prints
Since Canvas Champ is reviewed poorly for the one item we were interested in, canvas prints, it doesn't rank as highly as it could in our review. While you might still like to check out the company for its other print work, if you're looking for high-quality canvas prints with no streaks and no damage, you might be disappointed. While Canvas Champ's satisfaction guarantee is still highly competitive, and we did like the design interface, the site could do some work on its quality control. For this reason, it earns a below-average rating in our review.
Founded in 2003, Canvas on Demand is a company that started with a key vision: the founders want to make sure your family memories are preserved on hand-crafted canvas prints. The company now has 21 years of service behind it, and it continues to expand. Since 2015, Canvas on Demand has added more factories around the US to help deliver your canvas prints to you even faster. From desktop sizes to full gallery walls, you'll be able to preserve your memories on canvas or a variety of other print methods offered by Canvas on Demand.
Choose from three shapes for your canvas
There is a competitive selection of canvas options at Canvas on Demand. You can choose between canvas bundles, framed canvas prints, and gallery wall displays. Canvas on Demand also offers unique custom designs like collage prints, personalized word art, and color-in canvases that you and a loved one can draw on together to create a memorable art piece unique to you. Single canvas prints are the most popular. You can choose from rectangle, square, or panoramic styles. Rectangle offers 17 sizes ranging from 8x10 to 32x48, square offers 8 sizes from 8x8 to 36x36, and panoramic offers 3 sizes from 12x36 to 20x60. The products all include 1.25-inch thick gallery wrap, artist-grade canvas, archival-quality ink, and sawtooth hangers.
Editing your photos takes minutes
Uploading your photo to Canvas on Demand takes seconds. Once you pick a photo, you can crop and rotate it with the online editor. You also select your product type, size, and options like wraps, effects, and additional services. The editor allows for four kinds of wraps: color blur, black, mirror, and white. You can also add a black-and-white color effect or sepia if you want something more "old school”. These updates will change with a live online preview of your art, so you can see how it looks with the add-ons before you purchase. Finally, you can ask for a professional review of your image for a slight upcharge. Once you're happy with the image, all you need to do is add it to the cart.
Prices from $15.26 to $286 without add-ons
The cheapest canvas print at Canvas on Demand is $15.26 for an 8x8 print. This price is on par with other sites that offer archival-quality materials. The most expensive canvas print is the floating frame canvas print which starts at $286 before add-ons for the 32x48 size. If you want to shop add-ons, you're in luck. Things like canvas edges and color effects are free to change. You can also change the color of the floating frame for free (even gold frames have no upcharge). The professional review costs an additional $12.99. Even, so the prices aren't too bad for a high-quality framed canvas print.
Shipping costs depend on your area
Shipping is not free with Canvas on Demand, which can significantly impact the price. Tax is also not included in the list price, so our purchase of a $298.99 framed print with a professional review actually cost $339.71 after all of the fees were applied. For our area, shipping costs $19.99, and since the shipping is location-dependent, you may find that your shipping costs are slightly different. Overall, we would love a little more pricing transparency before that final total in the cart. Occasionally there are coupons offered by Canvas on Demand that offer free shipping, but normally you should plan on adding the cost of shipping to your order.
30-day return or exchange policy
Canvas on Demand states that if you're not satisfied with your order, you can reach out to their customer service team to resolve the problem. You can get a zero-cost reprint if your canvas print comes damaged. You won't have to return your order or pay anything for the replacement. For other concerns, Canvas on Demand will exchange or refund your order within 30 days of the date you receive your canvas print. Exchanges are credited to you via a Canvas on Demand voucher. Shipping fees for returns are non-refundable.
Mixed reviews and concerns about customer service
Feedback for Canvas on Demand is really mixed. On Trustpilot, Canvas on Demand has a 4.6-star average rating. Customers praised the quality of the prints and loved that the online editor was super easy to use. However, on other review sites like Sitejabber, the news wasn't so good. There is also a range of complaints for the customer service team. As for the Better Business Bureau, Canvas on Demand doesn't have its own page, but relies on a rating from its parent company, Circle Graphics Inc. Regrettably, Circle Graphics' reputation doesn't offer good news either. This company currently holds an "F” rating from the BBB.
May not be worth the hassle or price
With other sites out there offering cheaper canvas prints, more robust return policies, and free shipping, Canvas on Demand doesn't stand out from the pack. With an "F” rating and negative reviews from customers regarding the lack of customer service and problem-solving at Canvas on Demand, it doesn't rank as one of our favorites for canvas prints. We recommend checking out our higher-rated services for lower costs and better service overall.
Snapfish is a printing site that's been around for almost 25 years. Known for its wide selection of prints, books, cards, gifts, and more, this is a seemingly impressive one-stop shop for your custom photo-design needs. Snapfish prints on premium satin finish canvas to promote clear colors and a high-quality crispness. However, according to reviews, this may not be the case.
Impressive one-stop shop for canvas prints
Since Snapfish is a larger print shop, you'll find a lot of different canvas prints. From standard canvas prints, framed canvas prints, hanging canvases, and even panoramic prints, there are plenty of ways to display your favorite photos or artwork in custom designs on Snapfish. You can also find unique split canvas designs (one photo across multiple canvases) or canvas sets where you curate a gallery of photos together in one order. Sizes differ depending on the style you choose, but generally, you'll find sizing from 8x8 up to 24x36 for standard canvas prints. Some of the specialty items like split canvas sets can take up to 10x25 of space on your wall. You can add a frame to any of the canvas prints (even if you don't choose framed canvas prints to browse). The site offers plenty of design variations too, like layouts, wraps, and a range of templates if you want help with your design.
Impressively detailed editor
The editor at Snapfish is one of the most robust in our review. On top of showing a 3D preview of your canvas print throughout the process, you have almost unlimited editing choices. The process starts with your photo upload. The site allows you to upload from your computer or Google Photos for a quick import. If your file isn't high enough resolution, Snapfish will let you know, so you can pick a better image for your design. From there, you can choose your layout, color variations for your canvas, and background colors if your photo is smaller than the canvas. One of the best features, though, is the range of templates offered by Snapfish for different designs. You can choose from themes like "Father's Day” or "Baby” to see cute designs that the site will apply your image to automatically. And if something isn't exactly the way you want it? Snapfish offers an easy-to-use drag-and-drop function. So, if you add embellishments or text, you can easily move them around on the live preview of the canvas.
Prices from $39.99 to $209.99
The prices are a little higher at Snapfish than its competitors. The cheapest canvas print is the 8x8 standard canvas print for $39.99. The most expensive canvas print is the 16x40 panoramic canvas print for $209.99. These prices are without any add-ons. But, most of the changes you make in the designer are free of charge. Want a Snapfish template? No problem. It's the same price no matter what. Adding text or clip art? Same deal. No extra costs. The only price change will be for framing and other structural changes. Any print work is included in the listed price.
Shipping from $12.99 to $27.99
You will need to pay for shipping with Snapfish. The costs in our local area range from $12.99 to $27.99 depending on if you choose 7-10 days or rush shipping. Sometimes Snapfish offers deals or coupon codes for free shipping, so keep an eye out for those if you're not shopping in a hurry. However, in most cases, you'll want to be prepared to add the cost of shipping to your total order.
Replacement and refund policy
Snapfish offers a replacement or refund policy if you have any problems with your canvas print order. You will need to provide photos of the problem area to qualify, and in some cases, Snapfish will ask you to send back the defective item. They also have a policy that you can cancel any shipment within one hour of the time you order. There are no specific promises regarding return windows, so reaching out to customer service is your first step no matter what your trouble is.
Reviewers warn others away
Despite its great design features, Snapfish isn't a favorite with customers or third-party review sites. Currently, Snapfish holds an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, the company has a 1.5-star average rating from sites like Sitejabber and Trustpilot. Reviewers are calling Snapfish "Catfish” due to unkept promises, coupon codes that don't work, and high shipping costs that surprise shoppers at the end of their purchases. Complaints included issues with faces being cut off in final products, low-quality printing, and trouble ordering large orders for gifts. Most of the posted reviews are warnings to others to stay away from Snapfish. Yikes!
Too pricey for poor quality
Given the concerns from reviewers, Snapfish falls pretty close to the bottom of the pack. With negative reviews for quality assurance and difficulties applying discounts, the high prices at Snapfish aren't worth it. While we still love the detailed editor on Snapfish, we're not able to trust that the quality you see on the designer is what you'll get for your canvas print. For this reason, Snapfish earns a low rating in our review.
Easy Canvas Prints is a site that's been printing canvases large and small for over a decade. With over 25 million canvas prints shipped out, Easy Canvas Prints seems to be a popular choice for designing your own lasting art pieces. The company promises quality printing with UL Ecologo and UL Greenguard water-based latex ink. However, the inks aren't the problem - it's everything else. Read on to see why.
Single and collage canvases
You can pick from four types of canvas prints: normal-size canvas prints, large canvas prints, canvas designs, and collages. When we dove into the details, the designs and collages were actually under the same listing. These just include multiple photos on one canvas and occasionally text or other borders. The small canvases range from 8x8 to 30x40. If you want a large canvas, you can pick from the same sizes, but a 40x60 is added. Further options and styles include standard wrap or gallery wrap for the canvas, floating and traditional frames, and a choice between an open back, dust cover, or canvas stand on the back of your frame. You can also select from image borders like mirror, black, gray, or white, and three color effects.
Simple editor may be too minimal
The editor is easy just like the company promises, but it does come across as pretty bare bones. The only thing you can do in the design tool is upload your photo and choose your size. Other design choices like frames or canvas borders are selected later. This means there aren't any full previews of the final design (at least not a 3D preview), and you'll have to do a little guesswork on how different borders or frames might look on your photo or art. Compared to other editors, the Easy Canvas Print design tool could use some more features.
Prices from $5.20 to $154.08 without add-ons
The prices are competitive at Easy Canvas Prints. At the time of our review, the cheapest canvas 8x8 was on sale at 93% off. It cost just $5.20, which is comparable to some of the lowest-cost competitors in our review. Keep in mind that the full price for this same canvas print would be $74.37, which is exorbitantly high compared to other sites. The most expensive print, the 40x60, is $154.08 with the sale price. Normally, this large canvas would cost $1,186.16 which is the highest price we've seen so far. However, according to our research, Easy Canvas Prints frequently offers sales, coupons, or "flash sales” that automatically apply during checkout, so you can rely more on the cheaper price to be accurate. These prices don't include add-ons like gallery wrap, modern-style frames, and added dust covers. You'll also get another surprise price addition if you want to be able to hang your print: hardware isn't included. You also have to pay extra for any kind of lamination to protect your canvas. You can walk away spending over $50 in add-ons here.
Shipping from $9.99 to $49.99
Currently, Easy Canvas Prints doesn't offer free shipping. For our area, shipping prices ranged from $9.99 for a turnaround that would take over 2 weeks up to $49.99 for shipping in 1-2 business days. This means a canvas that costs $5.20 (with no extras) would cost over $16 after basic shipping and tax. While this isn't bad, it's hard to find details about shipping until you add your items to cart and submit your email, so Easy Canvas Print could work on transparency.
Concerning lack of guarantees
Easy Canvas Prints doesn't offer a specific satisfaction guarantee. Rather, it offers a 90-day assurance that the products will be free of any defects. If the canvas print breaks or has any errors related to manufacturing within 90 days, you'll need to take a picture of the broken or damaged area and send it to Easy Canvas Prints. You will get a replacement for your canvas print or store credit for the value of your item. There is a long list on the website detailing what Easy Canvas Prints does not cover or guarantee, which was a bit concerning. For example, they reserve the right to choose whether a problem with your canvas print is actually due to a manufacturing error, so your request for a return or store credit may be rejected.
Concerns with bad prints and poor customer service
Perhaps unsurprisingly (considering the lack of customer care in the return policy), Easy Canvas Prints has an alert on the Better Business Bureau for a pattern of complaints. Customers regularly have issues with the quality of the prints at Easy Canvas Prints, and there are concerns about unsolicited emails. Easy Canvas Prints responded to the BBB and pointed toward their lackluster defects policy to clarify the quality complaints. With that in mind, Easy Canvas Prints has a "C” rating on the BBB as well as a 2.3-star average across multiple review sites (including Sitejabber and Trustpilot). The consensus is that the quality is terrible at Easy Canvas Prints. Reviewers complain about submitting high-quality photos just to get blurry canvas prints. Others stated that while their preview photos were fine, the final canvas print had missing parts or a subject's head cut off.
Too many problems to be worth your time
With issues across the board, Easy Canvas Prints doesn't earn its name as being an easy place to shop for high-quality canvas prints. The company needs some serious upgrades on customer service and quality to be a recommended site for canvas prints. Right now, there's nothing to recommend Easy Canvas Prints. For this reason, it earns one of our lowest ratings. Don't get drawn in by the sale prices. There are plenty of better sites to choose from in the top picks on our list.
It's the same materials used for canvas painting but without the hours and hours of work. You can create a canvas print from any photo file you have on your computer or phone. It's one of the best ways to preserve a photo and hang it on your wall. Or, if you're an artist trying to go pro, this is a great way to sell prints of your artwork and get your name out there.
There are two main options to choose from when you buy a canvas print: cotton fibers or polyester. Depending on which one you choose, you'll get a slightly more vivid color or a longer-lasting design. Here's how it works: with cotton, color seeps into the fibers, getting deeper in for a longer-lasting print. However, ink stays on the surface of polyester prints which gives them a more vivid color. Some art fans feel like cotton is a higher-quality choice since it's closer to what you'd find in an art museum. On the other hand, polyester is more affordable and offers a brighter and more colorful print. So, the choice depends on what's most important to you and what fits the print you're trying to design.

We've all had a "Kodak" moment. Maybe it was the first time you saw a baby fawn taking its first steps in a field. Maybe it was that fantastic waterfall you encountered at the end of a hike in the wilderness. Or maybe it was just your grandma, sitting on her rocking chair on the front porch of her hundred-year-old home. Whatever the moment, we've all had one where we just knew it would make a memorable photo.
Photos that can only be classified as "Kodak" moments definitely are the kinds that make excellent canvas art.
But what, exactly, is canvas art?
Canvas art is created through a specialized printer which requires special eight to 12 color inkjet printers containing UV-resistant ink. You want to use UV-resistant ink because if the canvas will be hung on a wall, it most likely will at some point be exposed to sunlight, which can cause it to fade. UV-resistant ink helps to slow the fading process. The printer is designed to accommodate canvas, which is heavier than most of the kinds of paper we use in our home and office printers.
A high-resolution photo or digital image is then taken, scanned into a computer, and printed onto the canvas with the special printer.
Once you understand the process, it is much easier to choose photos or digital images which would lend themselves to the creation of a good canvas piece.
The first step in choosing a picture that would make a good canvas print is to make sure the image being used is of a high resolution. Most new cameras are capable of 8 to 12 megapixel images, with more expensive digital SLR cameras able to produce even higher resolutions. The general rule of thumb is if the image isn't at least 350 dpi (dots per inch), it will not reproduce well onto canvas. If you are unsure whether your photo or digital image is of good enough quality for printing onto canvas, consider consulting a professional photographer or canvas art business before placing an order. They should be able to review the image or print photo and tell you if it will reproduce well.
If the quality of the photo is acceptable, you also may want to ask the printing company if they are able to edit or "brush up" the photo for you. Issues like red eye, smears and even dust on the lens of the camera can transfer to your canvas art. These are all things that with the right photo-editing equipment - such as Photoshop - can be altered to create a better-looking image.
Among some of the images which have found their way onto canvas include:
The list of what can be transferred to canvas is endless and truly depends on the taste of the individual who is ordering the piece.
