Photo Canvas Land is based out of Atlanta, Georgia and was founded in 2000. They specialize in designing and developing canvas and other photo products. The company's goal is to bring high-quality photo canvas to mainstream customers through the use of creative and emerging technologies. This is all wonderful and dandy, but if the quality of the canvas prints here is anything like the quality of Photo Canvas Land's website, there is reason for concern.
Behind the times
The appeal of a company's website doesn't always determine the quality of their work, but it does seem to reflect the effort that they're putting into their business. Photo Canvas Land is badly in need of a makeover. This is obvious based on this line running across the top of their home page: "Photo Canvas Land is now mobile-friendly! If you are experiencing issues, press Ctrl+F5 to refresh the page, or contact us.” It seems like they are a little behind the times.
4 canvas options
The four types of canvas you can purchase from Photo Canvas Land include gallery wrap, standard wrap, rolled, and mini. They also mount canvases on gatorboard, sintra PVC, and bamboo. Other product categories include fine art prints, prints and mounting, and photo gifts (like wall clings, magnets, ornaments, and desktop blocks).
Basic canvas print creation process
When you're ready to start designing your canvas print, you'll start by uploading a photo from the files on your device. You won't be able to use pictures from Instagram, Facebook, or any other social platform. Next, you'll choose from a long list of sizes ranging from 8”x8” to 60”x30”. We'll give Photo Canvas Land kudos for having ample size options, since we have rarely seen so many. When you click on a size, you'll see three prices: rolled canvas, standard wrap, and gallery wrap. The last steps are to choose the bleed (the way the sides appear) and decide whether or not you want to pay $4.99 extra for a dust cover on the back and/or upgrade to a matte coating for $1.
Wholesale pricing
The pricing for all canvas prints is really transparent here, laying out the cost of each size based on the type of wrap you choose. All prints are fairly cheap and Photo Canvas Land says they offer everything at wholesale prices. On one page of the website it says that all items ship for a flat fee of $8.95 and in another place it says the cost is $9.95. If you opt for expedited shipping (canvas ships within 3 business days) the cost is $24.95.
False advertising
Photo Canvas Land advertises that they do free photo enhancements, but nowhere along the process of creating our canvas was this an option. They also say they do free gallery wrapping, but from what we saw, there is an extra charge for it. These are pretty glaring discrepancies that we aren't impressed with.
Customers have to create an account
To add your photo canvas to your cart, you have to create an account with Photo Canvas Land. This means providing your email, first and last name, and creating a password. We aren't big fans of this unnecessary extra step and wish there was a guest checkout option.
30-day returns
If you are less than thrilled with your canvas print from Photo Canvas Land once it arrives, you can return it within 30 days of receipt for a full refund or free replacement. There isn't a process written out for how to go about returning your print, so we recommend contacting the company by phone or email (listed on the website) to make sure you take the proper steps.
Few to no customer ratings
There aren't many customer reviews about Photo Canvas Land. We aren't very surprised since it doesn't seem like this is a popular place to buy canvases online and we can't imagine business is booming based on their lack of effort on their own website. They also don't have a Better Business Bureau rating which is disappointing. Overall, this company needs to put more effort into correcting discrepancies on their website and making it more appealing. This isn't a company we recommend buying canvas prints from.
