Snapfish is all about helping people capture and treasure special moments through photos. Whether it be through small standard prints, canvas prints, cards, photo books, home decor, photo tiles, or a big range of photo gifts for a loved one, you'll be able to transform some of your favorite photos into something special here. The company was founded in 1999 and is based out of San Francisco, California.
Limited sizing
Customers wanting canvas prints from Snapfish can either get non-framed, framed, square, panoramic, collage prints, split canvas sets, or 4" x6" canvas prints that are great for tabletop display. Right away we recognized that the size options for any of these products are more limited than what you can find elsewhere. For example, a simple canvas print only has a range of 10 sizes between 8" x10" and 16" x40" . Although these are probably some of the most popular sizes people will be looking for anyway, it still is limiting for people wanting an oversized option or wanting to do custom dimensions.
Not the cheapest option
Snapfish doesn't advertise massive savings like some other canvas print sites do. You aren't going to get 90% off of your order here. Although we don't expect that, it's hard to want to spend the extra money when other retailers with high customer satisfaction offer similar products for a lot less. A simple, non-framed 8" x10" canvas print at Snapfish is $46.49, which is at least double the price we've found elsewhere. Adding a frame is an additional cost and you should expect to pay at least $15.99 for shipping and up to $36.99 if you want your order rushed. At the time of this review, there was a discount code for 55% off, which is a huge savings here, so there are definitely opportunities for big savings if you're shopping at the right time.
Robust canvas creation platform
Where Snapfish does outshine some of their competition is their robust platform. You can upload a photo from your computer, Google Photos, Facebook, or Instagram. Multiple photos can be added and arranged to your liking on a single canvas. There are tons of layouts you can use, different design variation ideas, a long list of backgrounds, embellishments, and even options for adding text. Customers can get extremely creative here since Snapfish lets you do a lot more than simply drag and drop one photo to be printed on your canvas. We do wish there were more options for fine-tuning the photo you're using rather than just adjusting the layout of the canvas. There are no editing tools or features to help you get rid of red eye, time stamps, or other imperfections on your pictures.
Work with customer service to ensure happiness
If you're unhappy with your Snapfish order, you can return it. The company doesn't outline the steps needed to take care of that, but rather they say to contact customer service with the order number and description of the problem to get it fixed. For most issues, the company will try to remake the canvas print at no extra charge. If this isn't a good resolution, they'll offer you a refund. There is no specified amount of days you have to contact customer service after your order arrives, so they might not be too picky about it.
Low standards of quality
Snapfish only has a "D-" rating from the Better Business Bureau due to their failure to resolve over 30 formal complaints. The vast majority of customers have bad things to say about doing business with this company because of low quality photos, canvas prints not being delivered on time, receiving orders for the wrong customer, and a long list of other major problems. A lot of these people claim Snapfish has gone downhill over the years and no longer upholds a high standard for product quality. This is disappointing and it's the primary reason we've given them a low rating.
