C4 Healthlabs began when its founder came up empty-handed while searching for alternative treatments for his son's autism. His research led him to create this company, with a strong commitment to 100% organic, lab-tested CBD oils and vitamin supplements of the highest quality: products that they would (and do!) give to their own families.
Not as much to choose from
C4 Healthlabs offered a fairly limited inventory of just 12 CBD products at the time of this review: two types of organic full-spectrum hemp extract CBD oil (citrus and natural), one variety of THC-free CBD oil, two types of gummies, a CBD chocolate bar, and a handful of personal care products like muscle gel and lip balm. Some are full-spectrum while others are THC-free (and marked as a favorite choice of civil servants!).
Only one product with lots of customer feedback
There are customer reviews on all of the CBD products sold here, but some of them only have a few customer ratings. Given that there's not much feedback about C4 Healthlabs elsewhere - no BBB listing we could find, very few third-party evaluations, and so on - it's hard to say with confidence that this is a great place to shop. However, this store's most popular product, the citrus version of their Organic Full-Spectrum Hemp Extract CBD Oil, had over 600 customer ratings. Available in three strengths (500mg, 1000mg, 2000mg) and priced from $69-$189 for 30 servings, this supplement had an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. Customers said that this particular CBD oil had delivered results for conditions ranging from anxiety to arthritis, and some comments also mentioned having a great experience with C4 Healthlabs' customer service team.
Many people qualify for discounts
When we went to the C4 Healthlabs site for the first time, we were offered a 10% discount if we signed up for their email newsletter. You'll also get free shipping if your order is $75 or more. And, if you're part of one of the many communities that C4 Healthlabs recognizes, you could save 10-20% with every order. These groups include military, first responders and medical staff, students over 18 and educators, CDL holders, union members, senior citizens, non-profit employees, and the economically disadvantaged. You'll have to upload documentation proving your participation in one of those communities before you get the discount: look for that on the Savings Programs page.
C4 Healthlabs started off looking great, but we were left with a less-than-professional impression the more we shopped the site. A lot of that was technical: they seemed to have been mid-upgrade on their online store, because the pages were loading incorrectly and their customer service number was shown as 1-234-567-8890 (or something close to it). Much of that seems to have been fixed recently, but it wasn't a good look for an online store - and, even after the fixes, there were still broken links and URLs that weren't secure.
Disappointing refund policy
The company also has a more limited return policy than most of its rivals. You can only get a refund on 500mg and 1000mg CBD oil products. Everything else in the store, from CBD chocolate bars to the highest-concentration CBD oil they offer, aren't eligible for returns. Plus, that policy only applies to unopened bottles of oil: if you try C4 Healthlabs for the first time and don't get the relief you're looking for, you're out of luck. For that reason, we recommend trying one of their less-expensive products first before committing to a $100-or-more CBD supplement.
Easy access to customer service help
On a more positive note, we were able to reach their customer service team right away via online chat (and toll-free number as well, once the site was updated with the correct contact info).
Comes up short
C4 Healthlabs may have one of the best CBD oils on the market: 600+ 5-star reviews certainly make an impression. But, with glitchy website issues, a disappointing return policy, and little feedback about the company anywhere other than their own site, this retailer has a hard time competing with other stores offering a much broader range of CBD products.
Ever since hemp was removed from being considered a controlled substance (courtesy of the 2018 Farm Bill), interest in CBD products has grown exponentially. Why? There's plenty of evidence to suggest that CBD can help people manage anxiety, alleviate pain, and many other benefits - all without the "high" associated with marijuana use.
Wait, what? I can use CBD without psychoactive effects? Legally? Those are some of the first questions people have before trying CBD-infused gummies or adding a few drops of tincture to their morning coffee. First, yes: CBD products are required to have less than 0.3% THC in order to be legal - and THC is the component of the plant extract that gives you that certain...lift.
However, if you've been enduring chronic pain and CBD helps you move freely, or the anxiety that has pinned you down disappears after taking CBD products regularly, why wouldn't you feel a lot lighter and in an elevated mood?
That being said, CBD products aren't 100% unrestricted in all 50 states. About a third of them have strong regulations still in place: you may need to be registered as a medical marijuana patient to take them without running the risk of being charged with possession. Before stocking up on CBD edibles and lotions, you'll want to be well-versed in the laws where you live.
If you've started looking around for a place to buy CBD products online, you've already seen that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of retailers that are very eager to get your business. It can be daunting trying to figure out which one is the best! Want some help? Here are a few helpful guidelines you can use to cut to the chase and get your CBD from a trustworthy source:
