Recently spotted on CBS, this deli-style cheesecake company is popular in its home city of Pittsburgh, PA and across the US. Great pictures let you see it before you buy it
Everything at The New York Cheesecake Company is about cheesecake, so you don't need to struggle to find your next treat on the website. You can click the "All Products” tab to see the different types of cheesecake available, or click the menu button on the top navigation bar. Some of the categories include:
When you select a category, you'll see photos of beautifully-decorated cheesecakes. Each listing shows the number of reviews and customer ratings, as well as the price and name of the cheesecake. When you click through to the cheesecake, you'll find a brief description, customizable crust options, extra toppings, and available sizes.
Tons of unique flavors
There are over 65 unique flavors of cheesecake offered by The New York Cheesecake Company. You'll also find gluten-free styles, a few "Bitty Bites” cheesecake minis, and sampler packs with 4 different personal cheesecakes. And impressively, they keep adding more flavors every year. Some of our favorites include:
Pricing from $29.95 to $99.95 per cheesecake
The prices at The New York Cheesecake Company range from $29.95 to $99.95. Most of the cheesecakes start at $29.95 for the smallest size. For example, Death By Chocolate ranges from $29.95 for a 6-inch round, up to $99.95 for a 10-inch round. On the high end, the Kentucky Brown-Sugar Bourbon starts at $29.95 for a 6-inch and costs up to $79.95 for a 9-inch (but some of the alcohol-inclusive cheesecakes do not have 10-inch options).
Save money the more you buy
Interested in buying more than one cheesecake? The New York Cheesecake Company offers a unique program where the more you buy, the more you save. If you buy 2 cheesecakes, you'll save 5%; with 3 cheesecakes you'll save 10%; with 4 cheesecakes you'll save 15%; and with 5 or more you'll save 20%. You can even choose different flavors and sizes of cheesecake and still qualify for the discount.
Low shipping costs
As for shipping costs, the delivery price for our area was a pleasantly low $9.98 for 2-Day UPS or Fedex delivery. In fact, this is the rate you'll pay for shipping anywhere in the contiguous United States. If you want more than one cheesecake, you can order up to 5 in one delivery, and your shipping charge will only be an additional $5 per cheesecake. But remember - with multiple cheesecakes, you'll also take advantage of their Bundle and Save program, which can offset these costs.
Possible refunds if you report right away
The New York Cheesecake Company offers refunds for problems with your cheesecake as long as you report the issue as soon as your cheesecake arrives. If you get a damaged cheesecake or the wrong item, The New York Cheesecake Company will evaluate the issue and make it right. You may need to send in photos to show the issue with your cheesecake.
Good buzz for this cheesecake powerhouse
The New York Cheesecake Company is an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau, where it currently maintains an impressive A+ rating. In addition, they have been featured on CBS television and have over 200 5-star reviews from real customers on Google, Yelp, and Judge.me. In fact, we couldn't find a single customer who was disappointed with their service. That's almost unheard of, and a great indicator of the quality you'll find here.
Top pick for cheesecakes
With so much going for it, The New York Cheesecake Company blew us away. There are tons of flavors to choose from, including seasonal options. You can get a refund if problems arise, and the cost of the cheesecakes themselves (and shipping) is very reasonable and affordable for most. If you're craving some award-winning cheesecake, your first stop should be The New York Cheesecake Company. This impressive bakery has earned a full 5 stars in our review.
A New York City staple, Juniors Cheesecake has been around since 1950 when it was founded by Harry Rosen. Since then, Juniors Cheesecake has expanded with multiple landmark locations across New York and Connecticut. And now, with the ability to order online, you can enjoy the famous cheesecakes from anywhere in the US. With a competitive range of cheesecake flavors (more than most bakeries in our review), and an impressive social media presence, Juniors Cheesecake is a favorite for those looking for a good-old-fashioned New York treat.
Quick browsing, but minimal details
To get started you'll want to click the "order now” or "order online” buttons which show up differently depending on where you are on the Juniors Cheesecake site. This will take you to a scrolling list of Juniors Cheesecake's flavors and "little fellas” (mini cheesecakes) for everyday sweets or holiday treats. The listings are pretty basic and show the name and price of each cheesecake, but nothing else. When you click through to a particular flavor, you'll be shown a short description with flavors and add-ins, the serving size, and whether or not there is limited availability (like for holiday flavors). Currently, there are no allergy details on the listings.
17 flavors of cheesecake to sample
You can find 23 items for sale at Juniors Cheesecake and 17 different flavors to choose from. Some of these rotate out seasonally, so you'll want to check back from time to time. At the time of our review, we saw some staples like Strawberry Cheesecake and Red Velvet as well as some unique flavors like Carrot Cake Cheesecake, Pineapple Cheesecake, and a Pumpkin Pie cheesecake as a seasonal offering. All of the cheesecakes are New York-style.
Pricing from $55.95 to $73.95 for a single cheesecake
The cheesecakes at Juniors Cheesecake are mostly sold in single full-size rounds. The costs range from $55.95 for the Raspberry Swirl Cheesecake to $73.95 for a 10” 6 lb Original NY Cheesecake. You can also get a range of sugar-free cheesecakes and "little fellas”. The "little fellas” come in plain and no sugar varieties and cost $76.95 for 18 minis (cupcake size). The costs are competitive and don't break the bank. Plus, for our area, the estimated cost of shipping was around $17, but there is some flexibility as you can choose your own delivery date, which may change the final cost of shipping.
100% satisfaction guarantee
The refund policy at Juniors Cheesecake is simple, but it makes a solid promise. Juniors Cheesecake states that its products are 100% guaranteed. If you aren't satisfied with your treat, the Juniors Cheesecake team will refund or replace it. There are no listed qualifications or requirements to get recourse from Juniors Cheesecake, which is refreshing and highly competitive.
Top marks on Tripadvisor
The Better Business Bureau shows an "F” rating for Juniors Cheesecake, though only 5 complaints have been closed on the BBB in the last 5 years. There weren't any reviews on trusted third-party review sites like Trustpilot to back up this low score. Instead, we found feedback on Tripadvisor where Juniors Cheesecake has a solid 4.5 stars out of 5 across over 10,000 reviews. Customers love the Juniors Cheesecake restaurant as a whole, with many of the recent reviews being a full 5 stars from locals and those who traveled to Juniors Cheesecake from other states. While we couldn't find any reviews for their cheesecake delivery specifically, the overall impression is that you definitely want to try Juniors Cheesecake if you have the chance.
Don't miss out on authentic NY cheesecake
If you're looking for a place where you can get authentic New York cheesecake without breaking the bank on your sweets or on shipping, Juniors Cheesecake is the place to try. Juniors Cheesecake has everything from a wide range of flavors, competitive prices, a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and a very high score from extremely happy customers. Only the "F” rating from the BBB gives us any pause. Still, for our review, Juniors Cheesecake earns an excellent rating for cheesecake delivery.
Bake Me A Wish! got its start in 2005 to fill the gap in New York: there weren't any bakeries that shipped out of state. Bake Me A Wish! started out as a cake shop, but now offers a variety of bakery treats like cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, and cheesecakes. Bake Me A Wish!'s future goal is to become the go-to source for customers who want high-quality bakery gifts. This sweet shop is also highly popular with TV spots and articles from major outlets like Oprah Daily, The Sun, Windy City Times, Forbes, and more.
Easy to find the cheesecake
Browsing Bake Me A Wish! is a simple process, with all the major treats you could want listed across the top navigation window. You just need to click on "cheesecakes” at the top to start browsing. The cheesecakes are all pictured in a scrolling window, and the individual treat listings include names, reviews from individuals for each cheesecake, and the price. When you click through to a particular cheesecake, you'll see a brief description, including allergy information for those with dietary restrictions. You can choose a delivery date and a gifting occasion. You can also choose upgrades like adding a teddy bear, birthday candles, or cookies to your order before you check out.
Choose from 10 flavors
There are 10 flavors of cheesecake to choose from at Bake Me A Wish!. You'll find flavor staples like New York Cheesecake (plain) and Chocolate Chip Cheesecake as well as unique selections like Vesuvius Cake, Mango Cheesecake, and some seasonal favorites like Pumpkin or Eggnog. All of these are New York-style. While we expect these cheesecakes will change out as seasonal selections, the total number of flavors is smaller than some competitors.
Pricing from $52 to $58 for one cheesecake
The prices for cheesecakes at Bake Me A Wish! are all around the same cost. The least expensive options start at $52 and the highest cost is $58. For example, the Peanut Butter Cup is $52 for a full-size cheesecake and the Vesuvius Cake is the only cheesecake at $58. However, shipping is somewhat costly, and you don't get to choose your shipping date. For our area, shipping costs $22.99, but this may update depending on where you're located. Shipping is only visible when you complete the checkout details. This means the final cost may be closer to $74.99 to $80.99 for one cheesecake.
Delivery guarantee with some options for refunds
Bake Me A Wish! promises to offer quality gift delivery and has an "On Time Guarantee”. All of the cheesecakes are shipped through UPS, and if your delivery is not completed on time, you will be refunded the cost of shipping. Bake Me A Wish! also offers recourse in case your chosen treat isn't satisfactory. The policy states you may be able to receive a full or partial refund, store credit, or overnight re-delivery depending on the issue.
Extremely slow shipping on most orders
Bake Me A Wish! holds an "A-” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and it has impressive reviews from customers on its website. Testimonials for most of the cheesecakes average 5 stars. On third-party review sites, the feedback is a little more balanced. Trustpilot shows that Bake Me A Wish! holds a 3.4-star average. In general, customers claim that the quick delivery policy doesn't hold true. Even reviews with 5-star ratings claim that the shipping from Bake Me A Wish! was extremely slow. There are many complaints too that cakes and treats have been "lost” in the mail or there is zero communication about delivery times. While foodies love the flavors in general, the shipping frustrations seem to disagree with Bake Me A Wish!'s standing delivery guarantee.
Good for treats in general, but needs more cheesecake
While the flavors look great and this is a fun site to gift treats to yourself or loved ones, it has a few drawbacks. If you're not too worried about when you'll get your cheesecake, you might be happy, but with limited flavors, this isn't going to be your top pick for exotic cheesecakes. Overall, Bake Me A Wish! earns a solid rating for its bake quality and one-stop-shop treat offerings, but it doesn't score as high as our favorite cheesecake services due to more limited flavors and the shipping concerns.
Muddy Paws Cheesecake was founded over 30 years ago by Tami Cabrera, and still offers handmade cheesecakes for you, events, or gifts for a family member. As a family-owned bakery located in St. Louis Park, MN, Muddy Paws Cheesecake is known today for its artisan cheesecakes and rave reviews from locals. Muddy Paws Cheesecake only uses local ingredients with natural flavors, so you can trust the quality while supporting local businesses when you buy.
Minimal details for flavors and ingredients
Muddy Paws Cheesecake is all about cheesecake, so you won't struggle to find the selection of flavors on the website. You can click on the "Shop All” button right away to jump into the online offerings. The listings show clear pictures of the sliced cheesecake, the names, and the prices. Unlike some other bakeries in our review, Muddy Paws Cheesecake doesn't have ratings or reviews on the listings themselves. When you click through to a specific flavor, there is a brief description of the cheesecake flavor itself, but no details on allergens or ingredients in general. This bakery is most ideal for those who are already confident they can eat cheesecake (and possibly nuts too depending on crusts).
Limited to 7 flavors online
The inventory at Muddy Paws Cheesecake isn't the most impressive, but only disappoints a bit when you shop online. The online store offers just 7 flavors, while in-house Muddy Paws Cheesecake has up to 22 daily flavors that rotate through the 222 total flavors that the bakers have created. However, these are only available to local cheesecake fans, and for anyone outside of the MN area, you'll be stuck with the 7 limited flavors (with no holiday or seasonal specials). Most of the flavors are pretty basic, with Vanilla, Chocolate, Key Lime, and Caramel Swirl. The most exciting flavors (in our opinion...) are Oreo and Turtle.
Pricing from $50 to $55 for a single cheesecake
All of the single cheesecakes at Muddy Paws Cheesecake are $50. There is one option, the Variety Sampler, which costs $55, but in general, the treats at Muddy Paws Cheesecake aren't costly. However, the shipping isn't the cheapest. For our area, the shipping cost was $42 for 2-day air shipping, and the only other shipping option was more expensive than that.
No refunds allowed
Regrettably, Muddy Paws Cheesecake does not allow refunds or returns for food items of any kind. If you ordered a non-food item, you have 15 business days to make a return and get your refund. But when you buy cheesecake, you won't have any option for a refund at Muddy Paws Cheesecake. We also couldn't find a mention of a reship policy either, which left us a little concerned.
Great reputation for flavor
Muddy Paws Cheesecake holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but there aren't any reviews for this business from the BBB or on other trusted review sites like Trustpilot. We found a handful of reviews on Yelp (just around 80 total), and the news was pretty impressive. On average, customers rated Muddy Paws Cheesecake 4.8 stars out of 5. Customers who are locals and visitors leave rave reviews for the flavors and quality of the cheesecake. There is also high praise for the owner and how welcoming and friendly the staff are. While there aren't any reviews for the online service, it's clear that Muddy Paws Cheesecake has a solid reputation for tasty treats.
Best for those who love to support small bakeries
If you're looking to support a small business, Muddy Paws Cheesecake is a great way to get tasty cheesecake and give your money to a small privately-owned shop. But, if you're looking for tons of flavors, you may be disappointed with Muddy Paws Cheesecake's online selection, and the high price of shipping may be a barrier for some. Though $90 total can be a bit steep, you can score some tasty cheesecake from a friendly bakery that is well-loved by customers near and far. Given the benefits and praise for the owner, Muddy Paws Cheesecake earns a good score with the opportunity to get a higher score if the shipping costs are lowered.
Carnegie Deli started out as a place to grab corned beef and pastrami in New York City. This deli has an impressive 80-year history and remains a family-owned shop downtown. On top of deli favorites, like franks and mustard or potato knish, Carnegie Deli offers a range of desserts, including black and white cookies as well as New York Cheesecake and cheesecake bites. Carnegie Deli is a favorite of stars, authors, and icons all over New York and has served major names like Robin Williams and Stevie Wonder.
Detailed listings, but missing allergy details
Shopping for cheesecake on Carnegie Deli's website is simple. You can jump right into browsing cheesecake under the bestsellers menu or select the "desserts” tab on the top navigation bar. The cheesecake listings on Carnegie Deli include helpful photos (and some of them have animations) as well as star ratings for each cheesecake and the pricing. When you click through to an individual cheesecake, you'll see a full description of each cheesecake, including the flavors, crust type, and storage instructions (for freezing or refrigerating). However, the site doesn't have details for allergies.
Pick from 6 flavors and mini-sizes
There are 6 flavors of cheesecake at Carnegie Deli. This is pretty limited compared to other sites in our review. You can find a basic New York Cheesecake in full size rounds (8” or 10”) and mini cheesecakes (4”). The rest of the flavors are pretty basic with Chocolate Marble and Birthday Cake standing out as the most exciting flavors. There was one seasonal flavor at the time of our review (Pumpkin), but nothing unique compared to other candy-themed or "hot cocoa” cheesecakes seen at other bakeries.
Prices from $79 to $109 for a single cheesecake
All of the 8-inch cheesecakes at Carnegie Deli are $79. The mini cheesecakes (which come in a pack of four) are also $79. The most expensive cheesecake is the pre-sliced 10-inch New York-style cheesecake that serves up to 16 people for $109. This can be a little pricey, but if you're planning to feed a lot of folks, this may be a great place to try. On the bright side, shipping is free at Carnegie Deli, which can help keep costs down if you pick one of the more costly cheesecakes.
Refund options when cheesecakes have defects
While there isn't a refund guarantee at Carnegie Deli, the site notes that you can email their customer service if there are any problems with your orders. If your cheesecake comes damaged or defective, you can request a refund or replacement. You'll need to provide an image of the cheesecake as proof when you contact customer service to be eligible for a reship or refund.
Not a lot of buzz for cheesecake specifically
Carnegie Deli doesn't have a page with the Better Business Bureau or trusted third-party review sites like Trustpilot, but there are some reviews for Carnegie Deli on Tripadvisor and Yelp. Customers on Trustpilot rated it a 4.5-star rating overall. On Yelp, the feedback is more balanced with a 3.3-star average. While most of the reviews are for the pastrami sandwiches, there are a few mentions of the "delicious” cheesecake that customers tried while they were at Carnegie Deli.
Fun mom-and-pop bakery with history
Carnegie Deli is a great place to try if you want a mom-and-pop feel and traditional homemade New York Cheesecake. However, if you're looking for a ton of unique cheesecakes or different styles, you'll be disappointed by the limited flavors at Carnegie Deli. With so few reviews for the cheesecake itself, Carnegie Deli comes in about average for cheesecakes, but its free shipping earns it a slightly higher rating overall. It's a great stop if you love a traditional New York Cheesecake.
Eli's Cheesecake is a family-owned bakery that is based in Chicago. Eli himself started out working in a restaurant kitchen, and developed his own recipes for food and cheesecake too. Specializing in Chicago-style cheesecake, where you bake cheesecake quickly at a high temperature and don't use a water bath, Eli's Cheesecake stands out from the traditional New York cheesecake style. This bakery also offers hand-decorated designs and locally sourced ingredients in all its treats, so you can feel like you're supporting local businesses throughout the entire process.
Tons of details for unique cheesecakes
Finding Eli's Cheesecake's selection is as easy as clicking the "shop” button, and you'll be scrolling through beautifully-decorated cheesecakes. You can pick from several categories including Holiday, Cheesecake Board Kits, Best Sellers, Originals, Design-Your-Own, and Samplers. There are also options for cheesecake dippers, gluten-free cheesecakes, and plant-based cheesecakes if you have dietary restrictions. On top of everything else, you can join Eli's Cheesecake of the Month Club if you want desserts year-round. The listings for cheesecakes tell you the name, the number of people each cheesecake will serve, and the price. When you click through to the cheesecake itself, Eli's Cheesecake gives you a brief description, whether or not the cheesecake is pre-sliced, basic nutrition and allergy details as well as a full list of ingredients, and instructions for freezing and shipping.
Around 40 unique flavors to choose from
During our research, we saw 39 different flavors of cheesecake on Eli's Cheesecake. These include vegan styles, minis, and a design-your-own. You can find tons of flavors and treats, from original Vanilla with Strawberry topping to Candy Bar Cheesecake with Heath Toffee Bars, Happy Holidays Cheesecake, Basque Cheesecake, Turtle Cheesecake, and samplers with multiple flavors in one. The design-your-own allows you to choose a flavor, topping, drizzle, two confections, and a message if you're giving it as a gift.
Pricing from $49 to $75 for a single cheesecake
There are tons of options to choose from at Eli's Cheesecake. The least expensive cheesecake treat is the Vegan Belgian Chocolate cheesecake which serves 10. This costs $49. The cheapest full-size cheesecake is the Apple Streusel Cheesecake which serves 12 for $50. The most expensive single cheesecake is the Design-Your-Own for $75, but you can also find cheesecake bundles (called towers) for $110 each. For our area, shipping was calculated at $15.95 for a single cheesecake order, which is reasonable compared to shipping from competitors.
15-day refund policy
Eli's Cheesecake offers a 15-day refund policy from the date your cheesecake arrives at your home. If you're dissatisfied with your cheesecake for any reason, you won't be asked to return the actual treat. Once you share a photo to illustrate the issue, Eli's Cheesecake offers either a reshipment of your order or a refund. This depends on the individual case.
Praise for texture and flavor on Yelp
Eli's Cheesecake has some room for improvement when it comes to its reputation, though. The company holds a "C+” rating with the Better Business Bureau, and there are no accompanying reviews to explain the score. On the bright side, only one complaint has been filed and resolved in the past year on the BBB. There aren't any reviews on Trustpilot, but Eli's Cheesecake is fairly popular on Yelp where it has an average rating of 4.1 stars out of 5. Most of the reviews praise the cheesecakes' flavors and "silky” texture.
Top spot for a Chicago-style cheesecake
While a "C+” rating from the BBB isn't the most uplifting, customers on Yelp loved the flavors here. With so many cheesecakes to choose from and competitive prices per cheesecake, Eli's Cheesecake is definitely worth checking out despite the BBB score. If you're a fan of Chicago-style cheesecake, Eli's Cheesecake is a must-try, and with a 15-day refund policy, you'll have some protection if the cheesecake doesn't work out for you.
Cheesy Eddie's is a dessert shop located in Rochester, New York that specializes in cheesecakes and carrot cakes. Cheesy Eddie's has been open since 1976 and is well known for its use of natural ingredients. The bakery offers a ton of different treats including cupcakes, mini desserts, tarts, cookies, carrot cake, and more, but cheesecake is the main event. With beautifully-decorated, classic-designed cheesecakes, you'll get a bite of New York in every forkful.
Limited details on the cheesecakes
To get started on Cheesy Eddie's, you just need to click the "Order Now” button. You'll be able to select from all of Cheesy Eddie's tasty desserts including cheesecake. The listings include photos of cheesecakes with creamy, swirling details, a name, and a price. Further details can be found on the page for individual cheesecakes. You'll get a brief description of the cheesecakes, some of the primary ingredients, and a place to select the size you prefer (1 lb-4 lb). Notably, there aren't any allergen details for this bakery.
21 different flavors to choose from
Cheesy Eddie's has 21 different flavors of cheesecake to sift through. You'll find traditional chocolate and vanilla flavors as well as some truly unique options like:
...and many more besides. Notably, all of the cheesecakes have a black-and-white motif. You won't see any colorful cheesecakes here, even on the decorated ones.
Pricing from $29.95 to $72.95 per cheesecake
The prices for individual cheesecakes start from $28.95 for one pound. The highest cost for a single cheesecake (one flavor only) is $59.95 for four pounds. There are a few cheesecake samplers too, and these are a little more costly. The "Over-the-Top Sampler” is $72.95 which is the top-tier option offered by Cheesy Eddie's. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout, but this is where Cheesy Eddie's gets you. For our order of 1 Coconut Cream Cheesecake shipping through USPS Priority Mail was listed at $70 (yep, you read that right!). We couldn't get a different shipping option either. So, if you're looking for a budget-friendly cheesecake option, the final price here may not live up to the expectations set by the cheesecake listings.
No refund or reship policy
There is no built-in return or refund policy at Cheesy Eddie's. There is a small mention in the FAQ section of the site that you can call the customer service number or email Cheesy Eddie's if there is a problem with your order. However, there are no promises made in terms of re-shipment or refunds, only a promise to "get back to you as soon as possible.”
Tons of praise for flavor
As a small New York bakery, Cheesy Eddie's doesn't have a page with the Better Business Bureau, nor does it have any reviews on trusted third-party review sites like Trustpilot. There are plenty of reviews on Yelp for Cheesy Eddie's, with an average of 4.8 stars out of 5. Customers praise every aspect of the dessert experience at Cheesy Eddie's, with 5-star ratings for cheesecakes, cookies, and everything in between. Most reviews are from customers who visited the location in person. Review after review calls this place "the best that [they] have ever had.”
Fantastic cheesecakes, but too costly for shipping
While the pricing for shipping is incredibly costly at Cheesy Eddie's, it's hands-down a solid place to get different flavors and tasty cheesecakes year-round. However, for many, that $70 shipping price tag will be a deterrent. If you live in the area or are visiting Rochester sometime soon, you'll definitely want to stop by Cheesy Eddie's to get your next slice of cheesecake. But, since the high cost of shipping isn't ideal for most cheesecake fans, this site earns an average rating overall.
David's Cookies is a service made for dessert lovers. Founded in Manhattan, NY in 1979, David's Cookies was most famous for its cookies, brownies, and bars. However, recently, the bakery has expanded its menu to include tasty treats of all kinds (including cheesecakes). Known for using fresh and natural ingredients, David's Cookies promises wholesome and delicious treats. David's Cookies is also Kosher-certified and SQF-certified for a clean-eating and safe environment.
Full list of allergens and warnings on listings
Finding the cheesecake page on David's Cookies just requires a tiny search (under the cakes and desserts tab) for cheesecake. From there, you can browse David's Cookies' selection of full-size and miniature cheesecakes. The listing page shows detailed pictures of the cheesecakes, the names of each flavor, reviews from previous buyers, and the prices. When you click through to the individual cheesecake pages, you can see a brief description of the flavor, a link to full nutrition facts and ingredients (with warnings that the facility for David's Cookies is not nut-free), and a full rundown of the shipping and delivery prices and policies.
Choose from 9 flavors and minis
There are 12 cheesecakes you can buy (among the full-size and minis), but only 9 flavors are available at David's Cookies. You can find classics like New York Style Cheesecake, Strawberry, and Chocolate as well as more fun flavors like Mango or Cookies and Cream. All of the cheesecakes are New York-style at David's Cookies. However, there aren't any super-exotic flavors, which may leave some customers who want new and innovative cheesecake a bit let down.
Pricing at $54.95 for all cheesecakes
All of the cheesecakes, regardless of flavor or size, are the same price at David's Cookies. Even the minis, which come in sets of 12, are all $54.95. According to the shipping and delivery policy, the standard shipping cost is $6.95 for UPS 2-day shipping, and David's Cookies does not ship over the weekend. If you wish to pay for expedited shipping, the cost will be $39.95.
100% satisfaction guarantee
David's Cookies stands by their cheesecakes and offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. The policy states that if you're unhappy with the freshness or quality, you can contact the David's Cookies service team right away. The company will either issue you a full refund or send a replacement cheesecake ASAP. The only requirement is that you send your request within 30 days of receiving your order.
Some bumps in the road for reviewers
David's Cookies holds a solid "A” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but customer feedback for the cheesecakes is less stellar than we expected. Trustpilot reviewers complained that there were issues with delivery delays despite the 2-day shipping promise on the website. There were also complaints about quality. Even loyal customers (who used to shop with David's Cookies all the time) have been frustrated with unresolved complaints or incorrect orders. With a 2.4-star average, many have switched to different bakeries for more reliable service and problem resolution.
Good prices, but poor service
While this one-stop shop seems great at face value with the cheaper-than-average prices and low costs of shipping, it may not be ideal in practice. Reviewers left a range of complaints for David's Cookies regarding slow shipping and defects with sweet treats. With plenty of shoppers frustrated with David's Cookies lack of problem resolution and customer service, this cheesecake service earns a below-average rating in our review.
Harry and David is one of the oldest bake shops in our review. In business since 1934, Harry and David has become one of the premier spots for gourmet gifting in the US. Today, you can find a variety of sweet treats, flowers, wines, bakery items, and gift baskets available at Harry and David. Whether you want pear and fruits, chocolates and sweets, or cheesecakes, Harry and David is a unique one-stop shop to give a unique gift to a loved one (or yourself. You deserve it!).
Can take a bit to find the cheesecake
There's a lot to look at from Harry and David: between calendars, monthly clubs, and gift boxes, it can be a bit overwhelming when you first stop on the landing page to find what you need. You'll want to dive into the "Bakery” tab to find cheesecakes. From there you'll see tons of decorated treats with listings that show professional photos with slices and full-size cheesecakes, the name of each cheesecake flavor, and whether the cheesecake is in stock or not. Once you click on a specific flavor, you'll get a brief description of the style, taste, and expected texture, and the suggested pairings or toppings. There isn't any information on potential allergens, though.
31 flavors include favorites from the Cheesecake Factory
There are 31 different cheesecakes available including vegan styles, classic flavors, and holiday specials. You can also find Cheesecake Factory's official flavors like the Reese's Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake Cheesecake and the White Chocolate Raspberry. There are 15 different famous cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Factory available at Harry and David, so you can have your restaurant favorites right in your home freezer. As for more standard flavors, you can find standard New York-style cheesecake, Moose Munch, Pumpkin, and holiday specials like Peppermint.
Pricing from $39.99 to $109.99 for one cheesecake
The cheapest cheesecake offered by Harry and David is the Raspberry cheesecake for $39.99. The most expensive flavor is The Cheesecake Factory Sampler Cheesecake for $109.99. There are some options for packs too, like mini cheesecakes (6) for $49.99 or a cheesecake party wheel for $59.99. The estimated shipping for our local area was $18.98, which is competitive and doesn't break the bank if you choose one of the less costly cheesecakes for your shipment.
Always offers a refund or reship
Harry and David has a satisfaction guarantee offering a promise that you (or your intended recipient) will be happy with your order, or Harry and David will make it right immediately. You will either get a replacement for the item you don't like or get a full refund.
Terrible customer service team
Harry and David holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but regrettably, that's where the good news ends. On Trustpilot, Harry and David has a concerning 1.2-star average rating with nearly 90% of all reviews earning just 1 star. The most recent review at the time of our research said she would give Harry and David "zero stars if possible.” Yikes. Overall customers repeatedly express disappointment in the orders. There are complaints of late deliveries, poor customer service, long calls with service team members with minimal (or no) resolution to the problems, and issues with no tracking details for gifts. Harry and David is going to need to up its customer service game if it wants to be competitive.
Too many troubles to be worth your money
While the impressive array of flavors should have made Harry and David a win, the abysmal reviews and ratings send this treat-gifting site down to one of our least favorite services for cheesecake. While it might be worth a look if you're a fan of The Cheesecake Factory, the reviews point to far too many problems for Harry and David to be a competitive option. Save yourself the hassle and check out one of our top-rated cheesecake services instead.
The Swiss Colony is a Wisconsin-based company and one of the top food-gifting sites in America. The company was founded by Ray Kubly in 1926, and it started out by selling cheese, sausages, hams, and a few baked goods too. Now, The Swiss Colony offers petit fours, butter toffee, Christmas fruitcakes, and tons of other treats (including cheesecake). However, since this site is designed for food gifting of many kinds, it doesn't specialize in cheesecake, so you may not find as large a selection here as with sites that focus entirely on cheesecake.
Finding cheesecakes might take some time
Finding what you need on The Swiss Colony's website can take a little time. The fastest way to find cheesecakes is to type "cheesecake” into the search bar at the top of the screen. Otherwise, you can find cheesecakes by going under the "Petit Fours, Cakes, and Cookies” section. Then you can use the filters along the left side of the screen to filter out everything but cheesecakes. The listings page doesn't offer a lot of detail, just the names of the items and the price. You can also see the star ratings for each item. Many of the cheesecake treats on The Swiss Colony are specifically designed for holidays. So, you'll see a lot of Christmas tree motifs which may not appeal to some, but there are a few that are decorated to be served on any occasion.
Only 6 flavors to choose from
There are only 9 items under cheesecakes at The Swiss Colony, and three of the 9 items are cheesecake bites (either small squares or in the shape of Christmas trees). These small treats are almost all plain or vanilla. As for the full-size cheesecakes, there are 6 different flavors to choose from, but none of them are plain New York cheesecakes. You'll see flavors like White Raspberry, Caramel Apple, and Chocolate Mousse.
Pricing from $36.99 to $59.99
The prices for a single cheesecake at The Swiss Colony range from $36.99 to $59.99 depending on which flavor you buy. The cheesecake bites and trees are all $29.99. The lowest-cost full-size cheesecake was a Christmas Tree cheesecake which had a berry Christmas tree drizzled on top. The most expensive was Caramel Apple Cheesecake at $59.99. For our local area, the shipping costs were $17.98, which is reasonable for a cheesecake delivery.
Satisfaction guarantee
One of the benefits of going with a large company for gifting is The Swiss Colony has a solid return/refund policy. The policy states that if your treats don't meet your expectations for any reason, you can send them back. You will either get a full refund or a credit to your account. If you prefer, The Swiss Colony will also send you a replacement. The Swiss Colony promises your satisfaction is guaranteed, though this may not actually be the case according to reviews.
Tons of negative experiences
Regrettably, The Swiss Colony has a poor reputation overall. While it holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, the BBB also shows that the company has over 687 closed complaints in the past 3 years. Further, on Trustpilot, The Swiss Colony holds a 1.5-star average rating with over 80% of all reviews showing just one star. Customers complain about receiving items that have gone bad, poor-tasting gifts that are dry and unpleasant to eat, missing orders, slow shipping, and extremely small portion sizes. Basically, if something can go wrong with The Swiss Colony, it sounds like reviewers have experienced it.
Not worth your time for poor-quality cheesecake
At the end of the day, the only positive about The Swiss Colony is that it has a decent refund policy. However, the low inventory for cheesecake and rampant issues with every aspect of its service (from shipping to flavor) make this one of the worst-performing cheesecake services out there. Sadly, The Swiss Colony earns a low rating from us. Check out one of our higher-rated services instead.
Cheesecake is a baked custard, and its origins trace back to ancient Greece. Modern cheesecake has four main "styles”: New York, which relies on cream cheese for its rich texture, Italian, which uses cottage cheese or ricotta as its base, German cheesecakes which are made with quark (a soft dairy), and French, which is unbaked and served chilled. Most of the sites in our review cover New York cheesecake, which is considered the creamiest and most decadent of the four.
