Russell Stover is an American chocolatier that's been open since 1923. Known as a family favorite for generations, Russell Stover's chocolates are handcrafted in small batches with the original recipes created by the founder, Clara Stover. All of the Russell Stover chocolates are made in the US with chocolate factories in Kansas and Texas. The company offers a wide range of chocolate confections including sugar-free, chocolate bars, and holiday treats.
Jump right into chocolate boxes
To find the Russell Stover chocolate gift boxes, you can either scroll down the main page to the gift boxes on display or browse under the "Chocolate” tab and click on the "Gift Boxes” button under "Flavors”. The listing images show all of the treats nestled inside their tray boxes, and you can see the name of the package and the price. When you click through to a particular box or assortment, you'll find a detailed description of the box, a full list of all the chocolates included (for those with multiple flavors), and a complete rundown of the nutrition and ingredients. Russell Stover also provides delivery details on each listing.
31 boxes and 13+ flavors and treats
Russell Stover has plenty of chocolate boxes and assortments to pick from. Across the entire selection, there are 31 chocolate gift boxes, including some unique assortments like the Forrest Gump 30th Anniversary Assorted Milk & Dark Chocolate. There are 13 different flavors in the largest box and a range of extras like French Chocolate Mints or Pecan Delights which are separate from the chocolate flavors. Here are some of the standouts:
Pricing from $2.99 to $239.99
Russell Stover is one of the most affordable spots to grab a chocolate gift box. You can get a box of Russell Stover chocolates for $2.99 (for three treats). Most of the boxes range around $11.99 to $12.99 with only a few of the most costly going above that price point. At the high end, you'll find the Copper Pick & Mix Gift Box (500pc) for $239.99. In general, though (if you're not shopping for 500 chocolates), you can easily score a solid chocolate gift box for under $20 at Russell Stover.
Free shipping on $75+
For our order, we were quoted shipping at a $9.95 flat rate for FedEx ground, $25.95 for 2-day, and $39.95 for next-day shipping. These prices may change depending on your location. On the bright side, if you spend $75+ on chocolates from Russell Stover, you'll score free shipping. So, if you're planning to buy for a group or just want some extra chocolate around, you can skip the shipping costs with this chocolatier.
Guarantee without many details
Russell Stover doesn't have a very detailed return or refund policy, but the company does offer a guarantee. The Russell Stover Guarantee states that they deliver high-quality and fresh chocolates in every box. If you're not satisfied with your order for any reason, Russell Stover asks that you save any unused chocolates and the packaging and contact them for support. At the time of our review, there was no mention of what this would entail (reshipment or refund), so you'll have to wait and see.
Solid reviews from locals
At the time of our review, Russell Stover held a "B+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. Oddly, there were only a handful of reviews on Sitejabber and Trustpilot which don't seem reflective of the overall reputation we saw on other review sites like Tripadvisor and Yelp (there are exactly 3 total reviews with a 2.8-star average on Trustpilot, but a 4-star average on Yelp where there are hundreds of reviews). In general, customers praise the quality and consistent flavor of Russell Stover chocolates. Many customers drive out of their way to a location that sells Russell Stover to grab their chocolatey favorites. The reviews were just as good on Tripadvisor where Russell Stover holds a 4.5-star average. While this didn't give us a lot of information about the online purchase process since all of the reviews were local, it's clear that Russell Stover remains a family favorite for many chocolate fans.
Top pick for affordable chocolate boxes
If you're looking for a cost-effective choice for a chocolate gift box, Russell Stover is going to be the place to pick. The flavors are solid, the prices are fantastic, and with high praise from local reviewers, Russell Stover stands out as a top choice for a low-cost treat or gift. We would love to see more reviews for the online purchase process and a more transparent refund policy, so these factors bring down Russell Stover a notch in our ratings. But if you're looking for a place to grab a solid deal on a box of chocolates, Russell Stover is the place to browse.
Whether you want a traditional chocolate, something like a holiday Ferrero Rocher, or a new confection with unique flavors like lavender or orange, there's a box of chocolates out there for you. With online ordering, you have access to far more assortments and flavors than you would at a local sweet shop, and you can easily send chocolates to your loved ones anywhere in the country (or the world).
If you choose to indulge in this cacao-based confection, you'll be in good company. Americans spend an estimated $22 billion on chocolate each year, and 90% of recent consumers said that chocolate is their favorite category of treat. Milk chocolate, unsurprisingly, is a popular favorite, especially in the US. Around the world, dark chocolate is generally preferred. Chocolate is something that brings people together. So, why not enjoy it?
When we say chocolate is a classic sweet, we don't just mean in the last few decades. Chocolate has one of the most interesting stories out there. The discovery of chocolate (specifically cacao beans) can be traced back to Mesoamerican civilizations. The beans were so precious, they were once used as a form of currency.
Our word for chocolate comes from the Aztecs who called the bean "xocoatl”. Originally, chocolate was made into a drink, similar to the hot cocoa we drink today, but a lot spicier (try Mexican Hot Chocolate sometime, if you want a more authentic flavor). Supposedly the Aztec emperor Montezuma drank 50 cups of chocolate per day.
While you might not be as much of a chocolate superfan as the emperor, we can definitely see the appeal. Chocolate, as we know it (the chocolate bar and chocolate confections), started being made around 1847. There are tons of benefits to enjoying chocolate too. Cacao can lower your blood pressure, and dark chocolate has a range of health benefits including improved brain health, improved mood, and promotion of your good (HDL) cholesterol. Bottom line? You can enjoy your sweets without any guilt.
There's no limit to what you might find in a chocolate gift box online. If you're ready to get that delightful melt-in-your-mouth chocolate treat, but aren't sure which confectionary to choose, don't sweat it. We've put together some factors that can help you pick the best vendors for chocolate gift boxes:
