zChocolat is one of the newer chocolatiers in our review. Opened by Jean-Philippe Khodara, zChocolat started making chocolates in 2000. He prioritized quality right away, seeking out natural ingredients from responsibly-sourced farms and providers. He also hired the World Champion Chocolatier Pascal Caffet to create zChocolat's line of luxury confections. If you're looking for a French chocolate experience, zChocolat is a great service, especially if you have an eye for the finer things in life.
Beautiful listings with photos of every treat
zChocolat provides a feast for your eyes as soon as you land on the main page. You can see tons of trending chocolate gift boxes with beautifully crafted chocolates in cute square shapes (with the "Z” emblem on top) and selections of macarons. You can start looking through chocolate gift boxes from anywhere on the site, but if you want a more targeted shopping experience, you can use the top navigation bar to go under the "Chocolate” tab and click on "Gift Baskets” to see the assortments designed for gifting, specifically. The listing photos show every single sweet bite included in the package. Each listing has a fun name, the price, and a list of what treats you're looking at in the listing photos.
Helpful chocolate descriptions
If you click through the "Discover” button on a particular box of chocolates, you'll get a four-paragraph description of the chocolates along with details of how the chocolate was made. You'll also have options to add a message card for gifting purposes. Unfortunately (and a little surprisingly), zChocolat does not include any ingredient lists or allergen information on the listings pages.

You can also buy individual items (like the boxes of chocolates) separately if you want a smaller selection of treats.

These can be limited depending on when you want your chocolate gift box shipped. Regrettably, the cost of shipping is extremely high at zChocolat. No complaints for this top-quality chocolatier
While zChocolat is not currently rated by the Better Business Bureau, it has a fantastic reputation on third-party review sites like Trustpilot. Currently, this chocolatier shows a 4.9-star average rating with thousands of reviews to back up the score. Customers love the delightful flavors, the quality of the chocolate, and the level of craftsmanship that really makes this a luxurious experience from start to finish. Customers from around the world are thrilled with their purchases, and we struggled to find any complaints. Even the high prices weren't a problem given the impressive quality of the chocolates at zChocolat.
Top choice for luxury chocolates
If you want a luxury experience that's definitely going to wow, you'll want to shop for your next chocolate gift box at zChocolat. While the price point is a little high for their gifts, you can get single boxes and a-la-carte treats for a more reasonable cost. While the shipping is costly, customers say that the experience is worth it. For this reason, it earns the second-place spot in our review as a close second to our top pick. zChocolat is absolutely the top luxury experience, but for its higher-than-average costs, it doesn't quite make first place.
Whether you want a traditional chocolate, something like a holiday Ferrero Rocher, or a new confection with unique flavors like lavender or orange, there's a box of chocolates out there for you. With online ordering, you have access to far more assortments and flavors than you would at a local sweet shop, and you can easily send chocolates to your loved ones anywhere in the country (or the world).
If you choose to indulge in this cacao-based confection, you'll be in good company. Americans spend an estimated $22 billion on chocolate each year, and 90% of recent consumers said that chocolate is their favorite category of treat. Milk chocolate, unsurprisingly, is a popular favorite, especially in the US. Around the world, dark chocolate is generally preferred. Chocolate is something that brings people together. So, why not enjoy it?
When we say chocolate is a classic sweet, we don't just mean in the last few decades. Chocolate has one of the most interesting stories out there. The discovery of chocolate (specifically cacao beans) can be traced back to Mesoamerican civilizations. The beans were so precious, they were once used as a form of currency.
Our word for chocolate comes from the Aztecs who called the bean "xocoatl”. Originally, chocolate was made into a drink, similar to the hot cocoa we drink today, but a lot spicier (try Mexican Hot Chocolate sometime, if you want a more authentic flavor). Supposedly the Aztec emperor Montezuma drank 50 cups of chocolate per day.
While you might not be as much of a chocolate superfan as the emperor, we can definitely see the appeal. Chocolate, as we know it (the chocolate bar and chocolate confections), started being made around 1847. There are tons of benefits to enjoying chocolate too. Cacao can lower your blood pressure, and dark chocolate has a range of health benefits including improved brain health, improved mood, and promotion of your good (HDL) cholesterol. Bottom line? You can enjoy your sweets without any guilt.
There's no limit to what you might find in a chocolate gift box online. If you're ready to get that delightful melt-in-your-mouth chocolate treat, but aren't sure which confectionary to choose, don't sweat it.
