Another plus at Christmas Central is how easy it is to track inventory levels - helpful during the peak holiday rush. While many products still don't have much in the way of customer reviews, you'll at least know if a tree you're eyeing is running low. Their catalog also includes a variety of novelty and specialty options if you're looking for something that goes beyond the traditional fir. Looking for a Beaver Pine or a Blue Spruce? A tree in beige, bronze, or blue? Christmas Central has you covered.
Return policy is average
If you change your mind about your Christmas tree, you've got 30 days - or until Christmas Day, whichever comes first - to send it back. Items must be in original, unused condition. Store credit returns come with a prepaid shipping label (for customers in the lower 48), but refunds mean you'll cover return shipping yourself. Original shipping fees aren't refunded, and unauthorized returns can trigger a restocking fee. It's not the most generous policy we've seen, but not the strictest either.
A mixed reputation
Christmas Central maintains an "A+" with the Better Business Bureau, but they aren't BBB-accredited. Reviews from customers are split depending on where you look: Trustpilot averages just 1.8 stars across about 40 reviews, while Google reviews come in much stronger, at 4.6 stars across more than 6,700 ratings. That higher average even earned them a "Top Quality Store" designation. Still, reports of inconsistent customer service and occasional product quality issues mean you'll want to shop carefully - especially with pre-lit trees, where customer complaints tend to sound the loudest (lights that go out just past the warranty period and there's no fix that seems to work).
A stronger showing this year, but still room to grow
Overall, Christmas Central has improved enough for us to bump their rating slightly. Their enormous selection, user-friendly site, and upward-trending reputation give them a leg up. But mixed feedback on product quality and customer support keep them from climbing too high in our rankings. If you like having lots of choices and don't mind sticking with unlit options (or rolling the dice on light longevity), Christmas Central could be worth considering - but maybe after you've shopped this retailer's higher-ranked competitors first.

Christmas Lights Etc. has been decking the halls (and malls) since 2000, and they proudly call themselves America's most shopped online Christmas lights store. Based just outside Atlanta in Alpharetta, GA, this team lives and breathes holiday sparkle - whether it's selling enormous commercial trees for places like Macy's or helping families brighten up their living rooms. They also stay busy year-round since their lighting collection works just as well for weddings, Halloween parties, and even a teen's "fairy lights" bedroom setup.
Limited choices for homeowners
If you're looking for a Christmas tree for the average household, the options here are slim. You'll only find two models: the Sequoia Fir (7. 5' to 9') and the Olympia Pine (6. 5'-9'). Both come with indoor/outdoor ratings, hinged branches for easy setup, and solid warranty coverage (10 years on greenery, 3 years on lights, assuming 90-day seasonal use). But while they offer extras like rolling stands or expandable branches, the price tags - $799.99 to $2,799.99 - put these trees in the "splurge" category. And unfortunately, even at those prices, the needles look more on the plastic side than the lush, natural look most shoppers expect.
Where they shine: commercial displays
The real star of Christmas Lights Etc. is their lineup of commercial-grade trees, ranging from 11 feet to a jaw-dropping 41 feet tall. The Red Sleigh Commercial line offers about a dozen options, with frame and pole constructions, natural branch spacing, and customizable lighting packages. These are the kinds of trees you'd see lighting up a downtown square or anchoring a giant retail display, and they're sturdy enough for both indoor and outdoor use. The commercial catalog also carries slightly smaller "large-scale" trees in the 12-15 foot range - big enough for a spacious home or business lobby, but easier to manage than their skyscraper-sized cousins. Just brace yourself for the sticker shock: in the commercial category, prices start at $4,659 and go all the way up to $62,829.
Policies and protection
Returns come with a 30-day window, but watch the fine print: you'll pay return shipping plus a 10% restocking fee unless the product is defective, and all items need to be in like-new condition with packaging intact. On the upside, the warranty coverage is one of the best in the business: 10 years on greenery, 3 years on LED string lights, and 1 year on incandescent. That's a long-term promise you won't see everywhere.
Feedback isn't always so sparkly
At first, this retailer's reputation looks great: an "A+" rating and accreditation from the BBB, with no new complaints in the last year. But customer reviews tell a more complicated story. On Trustpilot, you'll find 20+ one-star ratings describing defective lights, disappointing products, and high return fees. One shopper summed it up by saying they were charged more than double for a prepaid return label compared to what FedEx would have charged directly, leaving them frustrated with both the product and the service. Granted, most of the issues are with lights and not trees, but if Christmas Lights Etc. is struggling to keep shoppers happy on the smaller items, we're not so confident that they'll come in clutch on something as big (and bulky, and hard to return) as a Christmas tree. When you're easily spending close to $1,000 (or much more) for a decoration, you want it to last for a good long time.
Maybe worth a look for commercial-size trees, but not for traditional home décor
Christmas Lights Etc. is a good source of commercial holiday décor and comes with strong warranties and a long history in the industry. But for most shoppers hunting for a family-sized Christmas tree, the limited options, steep prices, and plasticky look may not feel like the best fit. Unless you're lighting up a city block - or you really want those long-term warranty protections - you'll probably be happier choosing from a retailer with more variety and homeowner-friendly pricing.
Weak
National Tree Company has been around for more than 60 years, supplying artificial Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, and other seasonal décor. On paper, that kind of longevity should inspire trust. Unfortunately, once you start digging into customer experiences, return policies, and how the company actually operates, it quickly becomes clear why this seller earns one of the lowest ratings in our lineup.
Over 500 Christmas trees to choose from, priced from under $50 to over $2,000
You'll definitely find variety here. National Tree Company sells more than 560 Christmas trees, with prices ranging from $25.99 for a small Magenta Pink Tinsel Tree up to a hefty $2,519.99 for a 7.5' Pre-Lit Flocked Bavarian Pine. There are even towering options like a 16' North Valley Spruce at $2,069.99 or a 10' Pre-Lit Noble Fir marked down to $2,066.99 (from an eyebrow-raising $6,695. 99 MSRP). Mid-range options are also plentiful, with lots of choices for height, lighting style (clear, warm white LED, multi, dual, or unlit), and "realism" level.
Some extras are free, others are suggested add-ons
Trees here generally come with a folding metal stand, spare bulbs and fuses, and a 3-year warranty. The site also recommends accessories like storage bags, tree toppers, and scented sticks if you want to add that "real pine" aroma to your artificial tree.
How do these Christmas trees look in reality? Great question...
The problem? Even on their so-called bestsellers, customer feedback is scarce. We didn't see a single tree with more than 5 reviews, and many had none at all. Combine that with sparse product photos - no closeups of branches, no detailed angles - and you're left with a buying experience that feels risky at best.
Reputation won't have you feeling very holly jolly
National Tree Company has a "B" rating from the Better Business Bureau, with 21 complaints closed in the last 12 months. On Yelp, the story is even worse: a dismal 1.6 stars across nearly 30 reviews. Real customer comments paint a picture of frustration:

Shipping is free, but returns definitely aren't
National Tree Company offers free shipping on all orders, which is nice upfront. But the return policy more than cancels out that perk. You only have 30 days (or until December 25, whichever comes first) to request a return, and items have to be unused, in original packaging, with proof of purchase. The kicker? Return labels aren't free. You'll pay $75 per box to send back a Christmas tree, firepit, or patio furniture; $25 for most other items; and $10 even for inexpensive products under $35. Worse yet, you're not allowed to buy your own cheaper label - the company requires you to use theirs, or you won't get your money back. This restrictive and expensive return process is one of the biggest sources of customer outrage we saw in National Tree Company's reviews.
Customer service is rarely there for you - literally
Service hours are extremely limited: just Monday-Thursday, 11 AM to 3 PM. That's only 16 hours a week. Adding insult to injury, when we checked the site, the posted "holiday closure" notice was a month out of date. If you have problems, don't expect quick responses - or much flexibility. (You might even wind up on ho-ho-hold... sorry, we couldn't resist.)
Don't shop here unless you want to wind up feeling Grinch-y
National Tree Company talks a good game about innovation and tradition, but in practice, shoppers are frustrated with poor-quality trees, restrictive return policies, and customer service that leaves much to be desired. Free shipping and a wide selection can't make up for those shortcomings. If you want your holiday season to feel magical instead of stressful, you're better off shopping elsewhere for your Christmas tree.
Poor
At Home would love for you to consider their online store as your go-to shop for all things home and holiday. With more than 260 stores across 40 states and a corporate HQ in Dallas, Texas, this big-box chain has made its mark by offering up to 45,000 home products in every style and price point. Furniture, rugs, wall art, patio sets, seasonal décor - you name it, they've got it. Naturally, that includes Christmas trees, both in-store and online.
Browsing is easy enough
One of the brighter spots on At Home's website is that they make product details easy to scan. Heights are listed right in the titles, and you can sort or filter trees by things like flocking, lights, and price range. It's nice not to have to dig through tiny print to figure out how big a tree actually is.
Christmas tree inventory tops out around 70 options
At the time of our review, At Home carried about 70 holiday trees ranging in price from budget-friendly 4' minis at around $30 to towering 12-foot giants pushing $900. You'll even find options in unexpected shades like hot pink or jet black. Just be aware: if you're shopping online and don't have an At Home location near you, you'll need to click the "Ship It" filter, which narrows the actual number of trees available for delivery down to 61.
Budget and premium - both need more feedback
On the low end, At Home does stock trees that could appeal if you're trying to keep costs down. In the "under $50" range, you could get a cute 4' Pre-Lit Flocked Slim Summit Fir (averaging 4. 7 stars across 39 customer ratings), an unlit Canadian Slim Fir (5'), and several in crazy colors like Barbie pink or iridescent. But while the price tags are tempting, the designs themselves often feel more triangular than natural, and construction quality has been reported as hit-or-miss in the past. The same goes for their so-called "premium" options: most of them don't even have reviews, so it's hard to say if it's because they're just not that popular, or because negative reviews are being left out.
Delivery comes with a catch
If you live near one of At Home's brick-and-mortar stores, you can dodge the shipping drama altogether with free in-store pickup - or pay just $10 for same-day delivery, which is actually a decent perk. The trouble starts if you're outside of those service areas. Delivery costs can add up fast, and unlike many competitors that ship for free, At Home doesn't really give online shoppers much of a break, unless they're part of the Perks rewards program (and even then, it requires a spend of at least $150 to get no-cost delivery). We also noticed a $9.99 "large item surcharge" on some Christmas trees, so keep an eye out.
Returns are middle-of-the-road
You'll get 60 days to return unused items, or 90 if you're part of the Insider Perks program. Seasonal items can go back even after Christmas, but only for the current market value (not what you originally paid). Exchanges aren't an option - you'll have to do a return and start over. And if your tree was delivered through a local partner, it has to be returned in-store. That's... not very convenient.
A reputation full of lumps of coal
At Home's track record for customer satisfaction hasn't exactly got us singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." At Home still holds a "D-" rating from the Better Business Bureau, with multiple complaints that haven't been addressed. Over on Trustpilot, the story doesn't improve: a dismal 2.3-star average across 75 reviews. Customers describe experiences ranging from missing shipments and surprise cancellations to damaged items that customer service refused to resolve. One person ranted (within just a few days of our evaluation), "Worst product AND customer support service I have ever experienced…they went completely quiet after my final emails telling them I was going to dispute the charge, and they also never responded to Amex during the dispute." From complaints like that and many others we read, it's clear that At Home has a long way to go in rebuilding trust.
Filed for Chapter 11
And then there's the bigger picture: in June 2025, At Home filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, citing $2 billion in debt. The company has announced plans to restructure and keep operating, but dozens of stores are expected to shutter in the process. That doesn't exactly inspire confidence for shoppers looking to invest in a big, centerpiece holiday decoration like a Christmas tree.
Top of the naughty list, bottom of our rankings (again)
When it comes to Christmas trees, At Home misses the mark. The selection is decent, but the quality is questionable at every point on the price spectrum, delivery isn't as straightforward as it could be, and the company's customer service reputation is, frankly, abysmal. Throw in bankruptcy headlines, and the risks outweigh the rewards. For all those reasons, At Home lands squarely at the bottom of our rankings for Christmas tree stores once again. If you want your holiday centerpiece to be merry and bright, you'll be much happier sticking with one of our higher-rated retailers.
