REEDS Jewelers was founded by Bill Zimmer, who learned how to sell diamonds at a young age. In 1946 he and his wife bought a small jewelry store in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina and it became the first official REEDS Jewelry store. The company continued to expand and by 1979 they were running over two dozen retail outlets. Today REEDS sells engagement and wedding rings, all types of men's and women's jewelry, class rings, Rolex watches, and carries a long list of name brand products.
4 payment plan options
REEDS carries about 60 class rings in total for girls, boys, men, and women. Designs range from bold and classic with big stones to minimalistic with dainty bands. The cost of rings ranges from $97.99 to $599.99. If you end up purchasing a ring that's a bit more costly than you'd planned for, REEDS has 4 different payment plans you can choose from: REEDS credit, Afterpay, Affirm, and Progressive Leasing. Each offer differs slightly, but all allow you to pay your jewelry off over time.
Look out for deals
Sign up for emails from Reeds and save $25 off your next order of $150 or more. At the time of this review, REEDS had an extra deal going on where you saved $50 off orders of $199.99 - $999.99 and $150 off orders of $1,000 or more.
Customized rings from brands like ArtCarved
Once you've selected a style of ring you want to customize, you can select from a list of schools you attended. We did notice that this tool didn't function optimally and either took a long time to load or never found the schools we were searching for. You have the option to upgrade the metal of your ring for an added cost, select the color of stone and laser image if your ring has one, design the sides, and add engravings. Many of the rings come from companies like ArtCarved, so they aren't unique to REEDS.
Personalized items may not be returnable
Order processing for most rings is 4-6 weeks, which seems to be standard in the class ring industry. As a perk, shipping is free from REEDS and so are returns. They provide all customers with a 30-day return and exchange policy as long as items are in new and unused condition. However, unsurprisingly their policy does state that some personalized and engraved items are not eligible for returns or exchanges. If this is concerning to you, we recommend double checking with their customer service before ordering your class ring if you want to be sure you can return it if needed.
Unclear warranty information
One thing we would like to see from REEDS is a clearer explanation of their warranty on jewelry. From what we can tell, you have to purchase one of their 3-year care plans in order to ensure that you can have wear and tear protection, re-sizing if needed, replacement of gemstones, and more. To find out the pricing of these plans, you have to either call customer service with information about your purchase or visit one of their stores. A little more transparency in this regard would be nice.
Sing their praises
It was a breath of fresh air to see how highly customers speak of REEDS. Not only do they have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but they also have tens of thousands of reviews from people who are thrilled with their purchases, saying customer service is helpful and responsive, delivery is fast, packaging is superior, and more. People truly sing their praises. REEDS mostly sells ArtCarved class rings, but that is another reputable company that we are pleased with, so going through REEDS to select a class ring is a great option.
It's a long-standing tradition for high school and college graduates to get a class ring to symbolize their achievement. It represents the hard work and dedication you put into getting an education, your alma mater, any extracurricular activities you participated in, and the people who changed your life along the way.
Class rings have never been so customizable. It used to be that there were only a couple of ring designs to choose from and they were usually sold by just one or two companies. Now you can compare pricing online among different retailers and browse a variety of band colors, stones, engraving options, and sizes that reflect your educational experience and personal style.
Once you see how many appealing class ring choices there are online, you'll want to start designing your own right away. Whether you're rewarding yourself with a class ring or giving it as a gift to a loved one, it will be a cherished possession for years to come.
