If you're already familiar with Café Britt, we have one question for you... how was your trip to Costa Rica? One thing that became apparent to us while reading customer reviews is that many people discovered Café Britt during their visits to the Central American nation. This Costa Rican coffee company has become synonymous with high-quality, locally-sourced coffee, and many tourists bring back bags as souvenirs or gifts.
Good for the environment
Since 1991, Café Britt has been committed to purchasing their coffee beans and chocolate only from 100% USDA organic certified Costa Rican farms. In 2024, they also won the Ecological Blue Flag for Climate Change in recognition of their various environmental initiatives.
Minimum 3 bags of coffee per order required
Café Britt isn't going to be right for you if you don't want at least three 12 oz bags of coffee in each order. If you're already familiar with Café Britt or know you love Costa Rican coffee, that might be fine. And if you're hesitant about that level of commitment, there's always the option to try a one-time purchase of their coffee first. One bestseller for your consideration, the Tres Rios Valdivia Coffee, costs $15.95 as a one-time purchase, but Coffee Club subscribers get 10% off any coffee, bringing the price down to $14.36.
Coffees have plenty of detailed customer reviews
There are 305 reviews on Café Britt's Tres Rios Valdivia Coffee, which you can sort by lowest to highest, featured, highest to lowest, and so on. It's good to know that there are negative reviews to be found on Café Britt's listings of their products, because that means we can trust that the majority-positive reviews are legitimate, too.
Subscriptions start at $47.30
The Curated Coffee Collection, available to subscribers in 3-pack or 6-pack options, costs $47.30 for the smaller bundle and $81.97 for the larger one. Despite its name, you're the curator - choose any combination of 3 or 6 coffees from their selection of 18. Whether you prefer variety or consistency, you can mix and match or stick to a single favorite. Your coffee will arrive every 2, 4, or 6 weeks, depending on your preference. Café Britt also offers single-use coffee capsules, but you have to add these to each order manually, as they're not part of their coffee club subscription program.
Surprise sweet treats in some orders
While you're shopping for your perfect brew, you might also consider adding one of Café Britt's gourmet nuts, chocolates, or sweets to your cart. These purchases won't automatically renew like your coffee subscription, so they're a nice way to treat yourself every now and then. And you never know - Café Britt might occasionally sneak you a freebie, too. The info page for their coffee club mentions "surprise perks”, and a happy customer cites "unexpected treats” as a reason they stuck with Café Britt's subscription program.
Shipping free on orders over $50
Another reason you might want to snag some Macadamia Brittle or Coffee Candy Chews with your order is that shipping isn't free until your order reaches $50. They don't list their shipping rates on their site, but you can calculate it for yourself at checkout. Products ship directly from Costa Rica, and after passing through customs in Miami, should arrive to you within 10 days of your order.
100% satisfaction guarantee
If you're not happy with your order from Café Britt for any reason, they'll make it right. Just reach out within 30 days and they'll refund you. If you'd prefer to make an exchange, you only have 15 days.
Rewards program available
With every dollar you spend at Café Britt, you earn 1 point. 100 points can be redeemed for a Chocolate Variety Pack or a Costa Rican Heritage Blend with a Collectible Canister, 750 points earns you a free bestselling coffee, and 1,000 points can be exchanged for an Electric Milk Frother. Earn extra points on birthdays, by referring friends, and sharing on social media.
A solid choice
Café Britt offers a solid range of Costa Rican coffees, though not as many options as some competitors. While you have to order at least three bags and pay for shipping on smaller orders, the coffee quality, occasional freebies, satisfaction guarantee, and rewards program make it worth it for regular drinkers. Their eco-friendly practices are a big plus, too. In our view, Café Britt is the best coffee club for anyone wanting to experience Costa Rica's coffee culture without leaving home.
Predatory email practices
One last thing to note: while we were reviewing Café Britt, we got a promotional email from them. No big deal, right? Except we never gave them our email address. Somehow, they knew our first and last name (which weren't linked to the Google account we were browsing with) and our email. We found this pretty creepy, and honestly, it made us think twice about choosing them over their competitors and landed Café Britt a little lower on our list than we had originally intended.
For centuries, coffee has been more than just a vehicle for your caffeine fix - it's been a catalyst for connection, creativity, and culture around the world. From elegant cafes in Paris to quiet mountain villages in Colombia, this beloved beverage has brought people together and fueled countless conversations, ideas, and dreams.
But for many of us, our daily cup has become routine instead of a moment to savor. If you find yourself stuck in a coffee rut, reaching for the same familiar-but-”meh” blend day after day, it might be time to shake things up with a coffee club subscription. Coffee clubs are perfect for coffee drinkers who want to explore flavors (and freshness) beyond what's available at their local grocery store.
Coffee clubs are also great for busy professionals who don't have time to hunt down specialty beans or for those who simply want the convenience of having freshly roasted coffee delivered right to their doorstep. Coffee clubs take the guesswork out of choosing new coffees - you get to benefit from expert curators' knowledge about tasting notes and brewing tips for the perfect morning cup of joe.
Coffee clubs range from specialized to generic. Some take pride in sourcing single-origin beans from a particular country, like Costa Rica. Others act as a middle-man for US-based independent roasters, helping you discover a new business or award-winning coffee every month. However, some are a bit one-note and lacking in customization options or variety.
The frequency of deliveries can vary too. Some clubs ship weekly, so you'll never run out of fresh beans. Others operate on a monthly basis, which might be better if you don't go through coffee as quickly. You'll also find differences in customization options - some clubs let you choose every coffee you receive, while others surprise you with new selections based on your taste preferences. Most coffee clubs have a quiz to help you figure out what those preferences are.
