Pottery Barn is one of many companies owned by Williams Sonoma. Some well-known sister brands include West Elm, PBTeen, Rejuvenation, Mark and Graham, and other branches of Pottery Barn. Both Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau. These stores supply a wide range of products under categories like bedding, rugs, lighting, windows, mirrors, office and storage, art, gifts, and more.
Smaller selection than competitors
The curtains at Pottery Barn give chic, airy, modern vibes. Most of the curtain options are neutral colors with minimal patterns, if any. There are about 200 different types of curtains to choose from. You can sort them by type (blackout, light filtering, or sheer), length, material, hanging type, hanging style, and color. Since you don't have tons of options to choose from, you could easily look through all of the options within a few minutes.
Known for being pricey
Most people would probably agree that the majority of products sold by Pottery Barn are overpriced. They've earned a reputation over the years for having stylish, high quality house decor and they've definitely adjusted their prices to fit that image. The curtains at Pottery Barn are sold as individual panels and the cheapest ones you can find are $33.99. The majority of window coverings are in the $100 - $250 range per panel which is quite a bit more expensive than you can find other places. Some of their curtain panels are priced as high as $2,220.
You'll usually pay for shipping
At the time of this review, Pottery Barn had a discount code listed on their website for free shipping if you spend over $99. Most of the time, delivery costs are determined based on how much you spend and it only gets more expensive with more products. For example, if you spend between $45 and $65, shipping is $11, if you spend between $65 and $90, shipping is $14, and so on.
30 days to return unwanted items
If you need to return your curtains to Pottery Barn after you've received them, you have 30 days to do so. You need to have the original receipt and request a return online in order to receive your UPS shipping label.
Unhappy customers
Unlike many other curtain retailers, Pottery Barn doesn't allow customers to leave reviews on products. When you're spending a lot of money, it helps to get feedback from others who have bought the same item, so it's disappointing that Pottery Barn doesn't offer that. Upon reading through customer reviews of Pottery Barn in general, it seems like many people are frustrated with their experience. Customer service can be very hard to deal with, shipping is extremely delayed, and some people say they never receive items they order and are stuck trying to get hundreds of dollars back. It seems like customer satisfaction has plummeted over the years and Pottery Barn has a lot of adjustments to make if they want to stay afloat.
Shop elsewhere
Since Pottery Barn has had issues with customer service and charges more than many other retailers for a smaller selection of curtains, there isn't a great reason to spend time shopping here. You're better off sticking with a higher-rated site that has more to offer for cheaper prices.
The main reasons people purchase curtains are to block sunlight coming through their windows and to add a level of privacy to their home. However, curtains also transform a space by adding color, patterns, and elegance. Even people who have blinds over their windows often add curtains for design purposes. Needless to say, curtains are found in nearly every home.
Some curtains are sheer and add brightness and class to a room, while other curtains are meant to block light completely. If you have a baby nursery or want to keep the light out of your bedroom in the morning, blackout curtains are the best choice. It's a good idea to go room-to-room in your home and measure the length and width of your windows to make sure you have a solid list of the sizes you need. Some curtains are floor-length and others fit the exact size of a window. The fun of buying curtains is that you can make a big difference in a room and customize them to look however you want!
Whether you're putting up curtains for the first time in a new home or ready to switch the old for new, buying curtains online is the way to go. Shopping in-store provides a very limited selection of styles, lengths, and types of curtains. Browsing online will allow you to compare prices, read reviews about quality, choose from thousands of styles, and make sure you find the perfect fit for your window space. You'll easily find curtains you love to beautify your home and have them delivered to your doorstep in a matter of days.
