Pottery Barn is a posh retailer that sells all types of furniture, home decor, art, bedroom sets, storage solutions, lighting, and holiday-specific products. The company has been in business for over 70 years and is part of the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. family of brands. Their vision is to be America's most beautiful and meaningful design source. Pottery Barn is based out of San Francisco, but their online reach spans the entire world.
Ready to ship
The curtains from Pottery Barn are ready-made and able to ship as soon as you make your purchase. They have over 75 styles you can choose from that come in a range of colors and usually about 6 different sizes. If you have really large or unique window sizes, you might need to go the custom route instead of shopping at Pottery Barn. However, if you have standard windows you're dressing, there is a solid list of choices here.
Many out of stock options
We noticed that when we filtered all the curtain results from Pottery Barn to show us in-stock products, it narrowed down our color options and sometimes we weren't able to choose the lining we wanted (like blackout, for example). So it may take a little trial and error to find something you like in the color you want that also fits your window and light filtering preferences. To make it faster, you could filter by type, length, color, material, hanging style, price, sustainability, and mode of shipping.
How-to guides
With each product, Pottery Barn provides ample information for you to know all the details before purchase. You can read all about the construction of the curtains, how to care for them, and browse a guide about how to hang them. They have an extensive curtain guide that outlines how long to let your curtains hang at the bottom depending on the look you're going for and what materials you need to accurately measure your windows.
Return within 30 days
For quick ship upholstery items (like curtains), Pottery Barn lets customers make returns within 30 days of purchase with the original receipt. You can either take your return to the closest UPS location or return it in-store if you happen to live close to a Pottery Barn. If you're returning to a UPS location, you can start the returns process directly from Pottery Barn's website.
Poor customer satisfaction
Pottery Barn has a solid "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but they have thousands of poor customer reviews, which is disheartening. From people who have shopped at Pottery Barn over the years, it is not uncommon to see comments that this store is overpriced. We've read experiences from people who have spent thousands of dollars here only to have their items arrive damaged more than once, have constantly changing shipping dates, receive poor quality products, or be charged surprise restocking fees upon returning items. The list goes on and on, so there's no doubt that Pottery Barn needs to get their act together and spend time addressing the reason that so many of their customers run into issues with their orders.
Wouldn't recommend
Pottery Barn sells classy, beautiful curtains and other products. It makes sense why they feel justified in charging an arm and a leg for some of their things. However, if they don't live up to their hype in quality or arrive damaged, what's the point in shopping here? We wish a company as big as this would let customers leave reviews on individual products, but Pottery Barn doesn't. We are deterred by their lack of customer satisfaction, so we've given Pottery Barn one of our lowest ratings for online curtain stores.
Windows are one of the first places your eyes are drawn to when you enter a room. And one of the easiest and most noticeable elements of a room are the curtains that adorn them. Besides the obvious functions of adding privacy and blocking out light, curtains can make a huge difference in a room from a design standpoint.
Curtains could sport a unique pattern to stand out, or complement the décor with a subtle touch of color to tie everything in the room together. However, finding the right patterns and colors at a local store can be frustrating and unpredictable - which is why many people have turned to buying their curtains online.
In fact, in recent years the trend of buying curtains online has experienced a significant surge in popularity. There are a variety of reasons for this consumer shift, all of which benefit you, the shopper.
First, online curtain stores offer an extensive array of options. You can browse through a diverse range of curtain styles, colors, patterns, and sizes from the comfort of your own home. This eliminates the need to visit multiple brick-and-mortar stores in search of the perfect curtains, saving you both time and effort.
And compared with shopping in a store, it's so much more convenient to shop online. With just a few clicks or taps, you can compare prices, read reviews, and make purchases at any time of the day or night, without being constrained by store hours or location. This is especially appealing to those of us with busy schedules or who may not be able to visit a store close by.
Another feature that you find with online curtain stores is the availability of customization options. Many of these stores offer tailored solutions, which let you customize your curtains according to specific measurements, fabric preferences, and design specifications. This personalized approach can be much easier online, and helps ensure the curtains you get match exactly with the windows they're for.
When it comes to curating your home to express your unique style, there are a million ways you could add touches of personality. Whether it be through accent walls, lighting, beautiful furniture, or a statement rug, you could go all out with design. And when it comes to curtains, there are endless amounts of patterns available, so you can enjoy browsing the hundreds of options to pick the perfect curtains for each room in your house.
If you're using curtains in your bedroom or a baby's room, you'll probably want ones that have the ability for blackout. This greatly increases the quality and length of sleep, so what's not to love about that? You could get ones that go all the way to the floor or find curtains that just reach the bottom of the windows for a more minimal look.
Another great feature about most curtains is that they're incredibly easy to clean. Whenever you need to, you can simply throw them in the wash. This is a game changer if you're used to cleaning slatted blinds. If you've ever done this tedious chore, then you'll understand why curtains are the more convenient option for easy-clean window treatments.
