For decades, Discount Dance Supply - also known as DDS - has been outfitting dancers in the US and abroad in virtually every dance form: jazz, hip hop, ballet, lyrical tap, liturgical, ballroom and more. No matter what your Dancewear need, you'll probably find it at DDS, and at prices that lower than most other retailers'.
DDS also offers a complimentary rewards program. You do have to register by entering your email address; it won't happen automatically just by placing an order. You'll earn double rewards points on all shoe purchases, and every product listing shows you how many "Dance Dollars" you'll earn with your purchase. You'll also get a surprise reward on your birthday.
Teachers also have access to special features by registering with DDS. They can sell dancewear at their studio and/or share an online code with their students, which allows them to get referral rewards on every purchase. Teachers get additional discounts, VIP customer service, and costumes exclusively sold to DDS registered instructors.
The Discount Dance Supply website is attractive and easy to use. Spend a few minutes just browsing the main page and you'll find the hottest trends and seasonal features, new collections, limited-time discounts, and featured brands. You can always enter what you're looking for in the search box; otherwise, choose from the many options at the top of the site to narrow down what you need. DDS' inventory covers it all, from shoes and tights to costumes, leotards, and accessories. Once you've selected the Dancewear you like, you'll be able to easily see if the desired color and size are in stock by clicking on the "Check Inventory" button. Most of the items we selected were in stock, and those that weren't had estimated shipping times of 2-4 weeks.
DDS' shipping and return policies are comparable to most of the retailers in our review: free shipping on orders of at least $65 and returns accepted within 30 days of delivery if they are in unused, unworn condition with original packaging.
It's obvious that Discount Dance Supply keeps its finger on the pulse of the dance world: check out their Dance Life blog, with tons of helpful articles for dancers, teachers, and studio owners to see for yourself. You'll find the link tucked away at the top of the main DDS page, right next to their phone number. Also, if you have any aspirations of being a model for DDS, or if you'd like to score some free Dancewear by being a brand ambassador on your college campus, be sure to click on the Modeling and Ambassador Application links at the bottom of the page. And, although they don't brag about it, DDS gives back to the dance community; their contributions and donations support a variety of organizations, and they've been known to offer scholarships to aspiring dancers.
For all of these reasons, Discount Dance Supply takes first place among retailers of Dancewear. We're confident that you'll find what you need at the right price.
Do you tap, tango, or tour jete? Whether you or your child's preferred form of expression is more traditional, like ballet or jazz, or tends to be more exotic like Bollywood or belly dance, having the right Dancewear is important.
Most Dancewear falls into two categories: everyday training and performance. Naturally, what dancers wear to the studio for practice and training - basic leotards and tights, plain shoes, and so forth - is quite different from what they use when they are performing in a show or competition.
Finding exactly what you're looking for can be a challenge when shopping locally. Most big-box retailers carry an extremely limited selection of brands and sizes, typically only basic leotards and tights for children and even then, on the smaller end of the size range. Specialty Dancewear stores usually have a better selection of both training and performance apparel and shoes, but outside of major metropolitan areas there may not be a retailer nearby.
For this reason, many dancers and their parents shop online for Dancewear. With just a few clicks of the mouse, you can easily find the brands, sizes, styles and colors you're looking for, without the hassle of driving all over town hoping that stores will have it in stock. And, as an added benefit, the prices are often lower than what you'll see at a brick-and-mortar retailer, because the business doesn't have the added expense of maintaining a physical storefront.
