Natural Spin is based in Canada and is well-recognized as one of the world's best sources of Dancewear, especially with respect to shoes. Their selection is vast, with more than 4,000 options just in women's shoes alone. And, by looking at the number of professional and amateur ballroom dancers sponsored by Natural Spin, it's easy to see their commitment to the sport of dance.
The site itself leaves room for improvement. For example, their About Us page was outdated by about three years when we visited, and the style of the website definitely doesn't scream "leading edge". However, particularly for those who need shoes, this retailer is worth considering.
There are two main ways to shop the Natural Spin site: using the search box at the top right corner of the page or clicking on the Categories on the left-hand side. Some of those categories include the following:
Prices at Natural Spin tend to be on the higher side. For instance, in the Ladies Dancewear category, the lowest-priced items (dance shorts and basic tank-style tops) started at $30-40, and the highest price tags were $810-$3,000 for ballroom costumes.
Because of the custom-made nature of the majority of Natural Spin's Dancewear, you should expect your order to take approximately 5-6 weeks to be delivered. However, if you need your order sooner, you may be able to pay an expedited delivery fee of $56 and get it in 15 days or less. Natural Spin will notify you if they are unable to meet that deadline.
Should you need to return an item, expect to pay a 20% restocking fee. Items must be unworn and unused to qualify.
Although the Natural Spin website is less than elegant, their costumes and shoes are very much so. Their reputation within the dance world, particularly in Canada, is stellar, and at the time of our review they carried an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
We recommend this retailer for those who need specialty shoes and/or dance costumes, particularly for ballroom dance.
Do you tap, tango, or tour jete? Whether you or your child's preferred form of expression is more traditional, like ballet or jazz, or tends to be more exotic like Bollywood or belly dance, having the right Dancewear is important.
Most Dancewear falls into two categories: everyday training and performance. Naturally, what dancers wear to the studio for practice and training - basic leotards and tights, plain shoes, and so forth - is quite different from what they use when they are performing in a show or competition.
Finding exactly what you're looking for can be a challenge when shopping locally. Most big-box retailers carry an extremely limited selection of brands and sizes, typically only basic leotards and tights for children and even then, on the smaller end of the size range. Specialty Dancewear stores usually have a better selection of both training and performance apparel and shoes, but outside of major metropolitan areas there may not be a retailer nearby.
For this reason, many dancers and their parents shop online for Dancewear. With just a few clicks of the mouse, you can easily find the brands, sizes, styles and colors you're looking for, without the hassle of driving all over town hoping that stores will have it in stock. And, as an added benefit, the prices are often lower than what you'll see at a brick-and-mortar retailer, because the business doesn't have the added expense of maintaining a physical storefront.
