If you're interested in online dating, you're not alone. Online dating is getting more and more popular as time goes by. In a recent survey it was found that 39% of heterosexual couples first met their spouse online. That's a 17% increase from what the numbers were in 2009. For good or bad, online dating is a common and oft-used way to meet new people.
For better or worse, the days of randomly meeting someone and falling in love at a party, in a bar, or at the supermarket are going by the wayside. Many people find that meeting someone online gives them more control over who they meet as well as an overall safer experience. After all, if you meet online you can actually do some research on a potential date before ever meeting up with them in person.

Match has a lot of experience when it comes to online dating. You'll get tons of information about a potential partner from the extensive profiles they ask users to create. Even though it's a pain to take the time to do that yourself, there is a big benefit when you start looking around for people to chat with. There's something for everyone with this online dating site, and we give Match our highest recommendation.
Zoosk is one of the top dating sites we have reviewed. They've been in business over 15 years, have lots of happy customers, and do their best to resolve any issues you have that come up. Prices are definitely competitive as well, making Zoosk a great choice to find your next relationship.
Coffee Meets Bagel is an anti-swiping dating app. You won't get as many suggestions for dates here, but you'll be able to spend your time looking at quality suggestions instead of spending hours looking at surface profiles. If you've already tried the most-used dating platforms and are tired of the same-old-thing, be sure to check out Coffee Meets Bagel.
Plenty of Fish is a dating site that has quite a few full-function features right from the get-go with a free account. When you are ready for more features they are one of the lower-priced subscription-based options out there as well, making them affordable. They also have some great questionnaires that help to give you better matches. Plenty of Fish should be on your list of dating services to check out.
EHarmony has a knack for getting people together with their compatibility quiz. It takes about 20 minutes but gives the site's algorithm a way to help you find the best matches out there for you. The site is on the expensive side, but if you want to make that investment, this might be a good choice.
OkCupid believes in being very inclusive and boasts that in 2013 they were the first site to have 22 genders and 13 orientation options. If that is something you're looking for yourself (or that you'd like to support), then this might be the perfect online dating site for you.
It's Just Lunch isn't your average dating website. There are no profiles to search through, no messaging matches, and no swiping based only on looks. If they decide to take you on as a client then you get a matchmaker that even ends up making the reservations for you and all you have to do is go have a good time. This service is pretty pricey though, and some of the reviews say they don't live up to the expectations, but over all, this might be a good one to try if you are tired of the online dating world but still want some help finding someone.
Chemistry seems to be a decent dating site, but there also isn't much to brag about with them either. In order to find much about them we had to go digging rather than it being right on their homepage. On the flipside, we didn't run into any major concerns either. If you're looking for a premium service that adds to its sister site (Match), you should see what Chemistry has to offer.
Elite Singles has a great idea behind it - cater to a more established-in-life and educated group of singles. However, we did find quite a few complaints about fake profiles, despite the company's claims to do their best to keep those out. They also have a price tag you would expect to go along with their "elite” status.
Friend Finder is a site that has some interesting features such as a way to include blog posts and participate in chat rooms, but from what we found these things didn't often lead to finding a serious relationship. If you are looking for something temporary, this might be a good choice. Otherwise, we suggest you try one of the higher-ranked companies first.
Hinge is swipe-based but has a somewhat detailed profile component to go with it. If you like that physical attraction feature, but still want to know more about the person, you can have both with this app. What we weren't too impressed with were the number of negative reviews complaining about fake profiles and accounts being deleted with no explanation of why. If you like the sound of what Hinge offers, give them a try, but do so at your own risk.
Tinder is an extremely popular site with one of the largest user bases out there. However, they have a lot of complaints across the board. It also has people looking for different things: you have to wade through a lot of profiles to find your matches, be that a long-term relationship or an overnight fling.
Bumble has an interesting premise with its "only females can make the first contact” policy in heterosexual relationships. The concept quickly blew up and lots of people - both male and female - joined up. However, reviews are pretty bad, even earning them a warning when you check out the company on the BBB. We suggest you try other dating sites or at the very least stick with the free version.
Some online dating services have been around for almost 30 years, while others are still fairly new. With so many options out there - and as many price ranges to go with them - it can be daunting to try and figure out which one is the best fit for your personality and budget. There are a number of features that you should consider as you compare:
