On the Phivi website

Phivi (pronounced like FEE-vee) is the most bespoke dessert club on our list. Every treat in their boxes is lovingly handmade in Brooklyn (NY), and the company will proudly tell you that they're "made with ingredients you can pronounce". That makes these desserts some of the freshest you'll find, typically shipping out within a day or two of when they were made.

3 dessert clubs to choose from

Since our last evaluation, Phivi expanded its dessert club offerings to include three boxes:

  • Artisanal Assortment: the flagship dessert club at Phivi, each box comes with an assortment of 8 treats according to a monthly theme. These could include cakes, cupcakes, macarons, brownies, cookies, confections and more. Some past themes have included Bone Appetit (October, of course), Happy Holidays, and Fall Harvest. This club is priced at $59.95 when you opt for month-to-month billing, but you can also choose to pay upfront for your whole subscription; for example, the one-year plan is $611.40.
  • Macaron Lover: if macarons are your thing, you can get 12 handmade treats in five different flavors each month. (Phivi also wants you to know that they're "larger than your average macaron".) It's priced at $34/month when you subscribe to the month-to-month plan; we didn't see any savings when prepaying for a 3-month subscription, though.
  • Cookie & Brownie Box: this is the only Phivi dessert club that doesn't let you pay month-to-month. Instead, you'll have to choose if you want 12 cookies/brownies every quarter, billed as $59.95 at the time of each delivery, twice a year for $115.90 total, or four times a year for $223.80. These are also themed based on the time of year.

Shipping fees are extra

But, shipping isn't factored into those prices. You should plan on paying about $10 per box, which will be added to the price during checkout or visible in your cart once you've added a dessert club.

Super-personalized

Is it worth it? We'd say "yes" and so would many of Phivi's loyal, enthusiastic customers. Check out Phivi's social media channels for any of the unboxing videos there or on the Phivi website to see for yourself. Besides loving the made-by-hand desserts, customers are really enamored of Phivi's personalized approach to putting together each box. As you fill out your subscription information, you'll be asked to tell Phivi what month you were born in, your favorite types of treats, and even your favorite color, and they'll keep that in mind as they pull each box together (maybe wrapping some treats with a ribbon in the color you like, or adding extras of your most-loved desserts when available). And, if you're sending a Phivi dessert club as a gift, make sure to enter your personalized gift message during checkout too.

Phivi continues to expand

We're also pretty impressed with Phivi's overall customer service. When we noticed on the Artisanal Assortment page that the "up next" section was a couple months out of date, we reached out to the team via email to make sure that they were still rolling out the deliveries. We got a response within a few hours, apologizing for the lack of updates and confirming that yes, it's business as usual at Phivi. (That was probably partly due to some big wins for the company around the time of our review, like a rebranding and securing a huge grant to expand Phivi even further. Congratulations to them!)

Very customer-centric

Other aspects of Phivi's attention to its customers that we really love are the ability to set a shipment schedule based on the subscribers' needs (like skipping or pausing deliveries at any time), offering a strict cross-contamination policy and making the effort to avoid any allergens that customers tell them about, and taking great care to make sure that even warm-weather destinations get desserts in nicely-chilled condition.

One of the best dessert clubs on the market

If you prefer a variety of desserts in each box rather than a single large item, Phivi is an excellent club to join. Each box in the Artisanal Assortment includes a delightful selection of at least eight different treats, though you could always opt for just-macarons or just-cookies-and-brownies if you prefer. While they are newer to the scene, Phivi seems to be taking off like a rocket with no signs of slowing down any time soon. This dessert club earns our second-place ranking and is well worth a look.

Where Can You Find the Most Delectable Dessert Clubs?

Imagine a world where delicious desserts are just a few clicks away. This is the magic of online dessert clubs, where sweet treats from around the globe arrive at your doorstep on a regular basis. Joining one of these clubs can be a delightful adventure, bringing joy and indulgence into your life, one dessert at a time.

How do these subscriptions work? Each month (or sometimes less frequently if you prefer), you receive a box filled with goodies. These treats can range from cookies and cakes to chocolates and pastries, which makes opening each box an exciting experience. But, if you've got some taste preferences (or even allergies), don't stress: most of the dessert clubs out there today will let you know in advance what's coming in your monthly box of sweets, so that you can hit "skip" if there's something on the schedule that you wouldn't enjoy.

Some dessert clubs offer a variety of payment options. You might find clubs that require an upfront payment for a certain number of months. This can be great if you want to commit to a long-term sweet experience without worrying about monthly bills, or if you're giving the dessert club as a gift that keeps giving. On the other hand, some clubs offer a pay-as-you-go plan, which allows you to enjoy the flexibility of deciding each month whether you want to continue. This can be perfect if you like the idea of trying a club without a long-term commitment, or your wallet can't quite accommodate paying in full.

Subscription plans can also vary in terms of delivery frequency. Some clubs send out dessert boxes every month, giving you a regular dose of sweetness to look forward to. Other clubs offer more spaced-out options, such as bi-monthly or quarterly deliveries. This can be ideal if you want to savor each dessert for longer or if you're watching your sugar intake but still want to indulge occasionally.

Choosing the right dessert club for you can depend on several factors. Here are some key criteria to consider:

Subscribing to a dessert club can be a fun and rewarding way to discover new flavors and indulge in high-quality sweets. With so many choices available, there's a perfect club out there for every dessert lover, and the experts at Top Consumer Reviews have done the oh-so-arduous work of evaluating some of today's sweetest options. Whether you're treating yourself or looking for a unique gift, the right dessert club is sure to bring a smile to your face with each delicious delivery.

Dessert Club FAQ

What kinds of desserts can I expect in my club membership?
You can expect a mouth-watering selection of cookies, cakes, cheesecakes, pies and more from a typical dessert club. These plans usually go out of their way to source their treats from small bakeries and chefs from around the nation. Of course, if you prefer a dessert club with a narrower range of sweets - like just cookies and brownies, for example - you can get that too.
How often will the desserts be delivered?
The most popular plans offer monthly dessert deliveries for terms ranging from three months to a full year. Many providers also let you choose a bi-monthly or quarterly delivery schedule, spreading out the sweet treats over a longer period of time.
Are dessert clubs expensive?
Most dessert clubs are priced from $20 to $45 per delivery, depending on the plan you select. Keep in mind that some memberships include two desserts per shipment, giving you much more for your money.
Do I have to pay extra for shipping?
That varies by club provider. Some include delivery costs within the monthly price, while others tack on fees of up to $7 per shipment. That doesn't sound like much, but over a 12-year dessert club membership, you're looking at nearly $85 more than what you're paying for the treats.
Is there a satisfaction guarantee?
Most of the time, yes. Dessert clubs stay in business because they keep their customers happy with gourmet-quality treats delivered in good condition and on time. You should be able to get a refund or replacement if something isn't right with one of your dessert club shipments.
Are dessert clubs legitimate?
Unfortunately for your waistline, yes! Some dessert clubs have been in business for decades and have a long list of satisfied customers - many of whom subscribe year after year. It's always a good idea to check client reviews and even look for a rating from the Better Business Bureau, if you have any concerns about a dessert club provider you're considering.
Do you get anything extra with the deliveries?
Dessert clubs typically include a fun newsletter with each package. You might get pairing suggestions for wine or other beverages, tips for serving the dessert, and the backstory of the baker of your desserts. A few clubs let you add on to your membership if you're giving it as a gift: stuffed animals, flowers and balloons are just some of the options you might find.
Do dessert clubs make good gifts?
Dessert clubs make one of the best gifts available today. From personalized greeting cards to delivery schedules that let you "share the love" all year long, these membership plans are guaranteed to make your lucky recipient smile. (And don't forget: you deserve nice things too. Treat yourself!)
