You probably won't be surprised to learn that a considerable number of people get divorced in the US every year. On average, around 2.7 million couples get married annually, and unfortunately, about 40-50% of those marriages eventually end in divorce. So, if you're considering divorce, know that you're not alone in navigating this journey.
Getting divorced can be a challenging process, but fortunately, there are resources available to make it smoother, including online divorce forms. This modern method can be particularly useful for couples who have an amicable separation and can agree on the terms of their divorce without significant conflict. Using online divorce forms can save time and money compared to hiring a lawyer, but it's crucial to understand who would be eligible for this type of divorce and who wouldn't.

Extra help, just in case
But wait, there's more! Divorce Writer has teamed up with Total Legal, an attorney-assistance service, so if you need a little extra legal know-how, they've got your back. Some services from Total Legal are even free, and the rest come at discounted rates. Talk about a one-stop shop.

Divorce Writer isn't just about saving you money; they're all about ensuring you get the most bang for your buck. With their 100% money-back guarantee, you can rest easy knowing your satisfaction is their top priority. If your court rejects your divorce forms, you'll get a full refund, no questions asked. Plus, if you find a lower-cost service, they'll refund the price difference. We're big fans of such customer-centric policies.
Top ratings, top service
Despite being a smaller platform, Divorce Writer has a stellar track record. Owned by Pro Se Planning, Inc., they've earned an "A+" rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. Straightforward process
Using their platform to complete your divorce paperwork is refreshingly straightforward. One of the quickest ways to fill out divorce forms
3 Step Divorce prides itself on speed, claiming the entire process should take less than an hour. With just 3 minutes to set up your account, around 25 minutes to answer questions, and a mere 5 minutes to print your documents, you can have your divorce forms ready to go in approximately 33 minutes. After downloading, you're all set to file. According to 3 Step Divorce, no other service offers such a quick process.
Affordable one-time payment
Pricing at 3 Step Divorce is quite reasonable, with a total cost of $299 for their divorce forms. Customers can opt for monthly installment plans for a slightly higher total cost, with options ranging from 2 to 4 monthly payments. This fee includes step-by-step filing procedures, instant access to forms, worksheets, guidelines for child support, and the added perk of phone and email product support. Plus, there are no monthly subscription fees, giving you ongoing access to their services without any surprise fees tacked on. And, for what it's worth, during our most recent visit to the site, 3 Step Divorce gave us a pop-up for $10 off their paperwork service if we provided our email address.
Flexible features with no hidden fees
3 Step Divorce allows users to revise, download, and print divorce forms as needed, with no extra charges for storage or customer service. You can return to the site and your documents anytime to make changes throughout the process, all without any ongoing maintenance fees. Also, you'll have access to extras like an online negotiation tool and a tracker for monitoring custody and child support payments. Access to over 40 downloadable books and manuals can further enhance your divorce-related knowledge.
Confidence-boosting guarantee
What truly sets 3 Step Divorce apart is its 100% guarantee of court approval. You'll get a full refund if not. And, along with unlimited revisions and robust customer support, users enjoy a password-protected environment for added privacy, with no personal details shared with third parties.
Positive experiences
While 3 Step Divorce doesn't have a dedicated BBB page, its parent company Nolo boasts an impressive "A+" rating. Dedicated reviews for 3 Step Divorce average around 4 stars on third-party review sites, with users praising the site's user-friendly interface and low-stress process. Many customers found their divorces to be less stressful and more cost-effective compared to other options. And, they're grateful for the customer service team at 3 Step Divorce, with the company's promise to always connect clients with a real person when they reach out with questions about their divorce forms.
A top choice for a speedy divorce
With its straightforward process and affordable pricing, 3 Step Divorce has earned a solid reputation. Its impressive array of features and 100% satisfaction guarantee make it stand out in the market. Complete Case has established itself as a pioneer in the online divorce industry, having served over 700,000 users in preparing their divorce forms online for more than two decades. This makes it the original uncontested online divorce platform, surpassing most rival services in terms of longevity and experience.
Divorce forms are easy to fill out online
The process offered by Complete Case is highly efficient and user-friendly. Simply select the state where you intend to file for divorce, go through Complete Case's comprehensive online interview, and then choose to either print your forms or have them printed and sent to you. Finally, file the completed forms with the appropriate court as per the provided instructions. Most clients say that they can get their divorce forms filled out in under an hour, especially if they follow the tips below each question (if there's something they don't understand) and if they've already worked out with their partner the details about who gets what.
One-time fee + monthly maintenance charges
Complete Case's costs include a competitive one-time fee of $299, followed by a monthly charge of $39.99 for storage and service fee s after the initial 30 days. This extra charge does set them back compared to some companies in this review that don't require a monthly commitment.
Some perks worth considering
On the other hand, they also offer a 100% court acceptance guarantee, unlimited revisions within the first 30 days, and robust customer support. Additionally, customers have the option to access the Live Lawyer service for an extra fee, a connection which not every divorce forms provider on our list provides.
Limited refund policy
Complete Case offers a refund policy within the first 30 days of purchase. But, Complete Case limits the parameters of the refunds, noting that customers can't get their money back if they accessed post-purchase services unless there is a flaw in their documents. It also won't apply if your soon-to-be-ex refuses to sign the paperwork, so make sure he or she is ready to proceed with the divorce forms before you sign up.
Strong reputation and thousands of 5-star recommendations
Complete Case holds an "A+" rating with the Better Business Bureau. There were only 4 complaints filed there in the last year, and any criticism of Complete Case tends to come from people who didn't realize they'd be paying a monthly fee after the initial 30 days of service. On the other hand, five-star reviews from over 7,000 satisfied clients praise Complete Case for simplifying the process of filling out and filing divorce forms. Some clients particularly highlight the platform's support for military personnel, both domestically and abroad. Overall, clients express high satisfaction levels with the service, often mentioning the significant cost savings compared to traditional attorney representation.
Excellent platform for filling out divorce forms
Complete Case is a fantastic resource if you're pursuing an uncontested divorce. The process of filling out the forms is easy to follow, and you've got plenty of help at the ready if you have questions (both in the way the questionnaire is laid out and with Complete Case's support reps). Although we could live without the nearly $40 in monthly fees after the first 30 days, we're impressed by the numerous five-star reviews left by this platform's very satisfied clientele. Complete Case earns a high recommendation from us for divorce forms.
Rocket Lawyer is the sole platform in our assessment that operates on a membership-based payment structure, setting itself apart from others in the field of divorce forms. This unique approach allows Rocket Lawyer to offer a comprehensive range of legal assistance, making it an excellent choice for anyone who anticipates needing support across various legal aspects of their divorce proceedings. From the divorce forms themselves to guidance on financial affidavits and child support, Rocket Lawyer provides thorough help throughout the divorce journey.
Almost an all-in-one solution
Rocket Lawyer consolidates everything you need to complete your divorce forms in one convenient place. Their divorce packet includes eight essential documents, from a Divorce Settlement Agreement to a Name Change Notification Letter. However, it's important to note that while Rocket Lawyer facilitates the creation of these documents, you're responsible for filing them yourself, making this service less hands-on compared to some alternatives that offer personalized assistance.
Free 7-day trial and affordable membership afterwards
Using Rocket Lawyer for divorce forms is straightforward, with a free 7-day trial available for drafting documents without financial risk. If you're interested in exploring Rocket Lawyer's more advanced services, you can access a $5 trial of the Premium plan. Following the trial period, you'll be charged $39.99 per month unless you cancel. Alternatively, you can opt for the annual payment option at $239.99 per year, offering a 50% discount compared to the monthly fee.
Cost effective
Despite not providing additional support beyond document preparation, this service is cost-effective for those seeking to save money on divorce forms. That's especially true if you anticipate needing legal forms for other purposes, personal or professional. How about a new will or power of attorney once your divorce is finalized? Or maybe it's time to launch that business that your entrepreneurial side has been dreaming of? You can do all of that and then some with your subscription to Rocket Lawyer.
No standalone document purchases offered anymore
In case you've used this platform before, we want to point out that Rocket Lawyer no longer allows customers to purchase individual divorce forms for a one-time fee. Instead, customers must subscribe for a monthly fee, granting access to the full range of services. While this subscription approach may be cost-effective if you require more than the 7-day trial period to complete your divorce agreement, it's a departure from the platform's previous options.
Complimentary legal consultations for Premium subscribers
One standout feature of Rocket Lawyer's Premium membership is the free 30-minute consultation for every new legal matter. This allows you to ask a lawyer any questions you may have, giving you some added assurance before you move on to filing them with the court.
Rave reviews and trustworthy reputation
Rocket Lawyer has earned a stellar reputation, with an "A+" rating and full accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. With an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars from BBB reviewers and 4.7 stars from reputable third-party review sites, it's clear that customers appreciate the platform's user-friendly experience and value for the money. Rocket Lawyer's track record of providing accessible legal solutions makes it a trusted option for individuals seeking professionally-created documents for their divorce and other legal needs.
Low-cost option for divorce forms and other legal documents
At just $39.99 per month, Rocket Lawyer offers an affordable solution for accessing comprehensive legal assistance. While the service may not offer as much hands-on help as some divorce-specific websites, its commitment to affordability and accessibility makes it a worthwhile consideration for individuals seeking a convenient one-stop destination for their legal needs.
Nolo's DivorceNet (not to be confused with Skynet of Terminator movie fame) is all about ensuring your divorce forms are court-approved, providing a hassle-free experience from start to finish. Their service offers real-time form generation, easy editing, and a thorough step-by-step process, all for a one-time fee that's fairly competitive, though not the absolute lowest or most standout option in our review.
Simple questionnaire-based process of creating your divorce forms
Getting started with DivorceNet is a breeze. They kick things off with a series of brief eligibility questions, then guide you through the rest of the process at your own pace on their online platform. Once you've answered all the questions, the service generates printable divorce documents and walks you through the filing process step by step. After signing the documents, you can file them with the court, and once approved by a judge, your divorce will be officially finalized.
Get questions answered via phone or email
Got questions? DivorceNet offers unlimited product support via phone and email. They don't really give you much detail about what that means, but we're guessing it's more along the lines of "What does this question in the form mean?” and not "Do you think I should go after my spouse for $10,000 a month in alimony?”
One-time fee won't break the bank
DivorceNet's pricing is competitive, though not the cheapest among the options for divorce forms that we've evaluated. For just $159, you get access to their services with no indication of any follow-up fees. Many other options in our review charge monthly maintenance fees, making DivorceNet's one-time fee approach quite appealing.
Time limit?
One potential downside is DivorceNet's policy on account activity. Extended periods of inactivity may lead to your account being deleted from the system. While it's unclear if you'd need to pay the one-time fee again upon reinstatement, it's certainly a hassle and could pose problems for some users. Then again, if you're actively working to get your divorce handled and finalized, will there really be an "extended period of inactivity”, other than maybe once it's all over? And by then, why would you need to go into your DivorceNet account? This is likely a non-issue at the end of the day, but we still thought it was worth pointing out.
100% court approval guarantee or your money back
On the bright side, DivorceNet offers a 100% court approval guarantee. This means you can rest assured that your divorce forms will be approved by a court, or you'll receive a full refund. It's a great way to alleviate any worries you may have about spending money on the service.
Where's the client feedback?
Like many services we evaluate that operate under the umbrella of a parent company, DivorceNet relies on Nolo for most of its reputation. Fortunately, Nolo has no issues with the Better Business Bureau, where it maintains an "A+” rating. But, as for DivorceNet, we came up relatively empty in the "client feedback” department. Despite claiming to have thousands of reviews on Trustpilot, we didn't find anything even remotely close to that in the less-than-a-dozen ratings left on that platform. While it's great that the average of that handful of reviews was 4.3 out of 5, it doesn't really make DivorceNet a broadly-used or highly-respected option for getting divorce forms.
Just okay
While DivorceNet offers competitive pricing and a user-friendly process, the lack of reviews holds it back from standing out as much as it could. It's a decent option for those seeking low-cost divorce forms, but there are more well-rounded services out there that we'd recommend first. We give DivorceNet a "just average” score.
Divorce.com is revolutionizing the way couples navigate the challenging process of ending their marriage, offering a modern solution that minimizes unnecessary stress and conflict. In contrast to the outdated and often traumatic methods of the past, Divorce.com provides a streamlined approach that prioritizes reducing conflict, lowering costs, and saving time. With certified mediators to guide spouses towards compromise, innovative software to generate divorce forms, and a guided process that keeps individuals focused on moving forward, Divorce.com empowers families to transition to the next chapter of their lives with greater ease and resilience.
Client satisfaction is a mixed bag
We're glad to see that the Better Business Bureau gives Divorce.com an "A+” rating and accreditation, and that there were only 9 complaints filed with the BBB over the last 3 years. That's a good start. Sentiment beyond the BBB, though, was a little more lukewarm. Trustpilot reviews average out to a just-okay 3.6 stars. It seems that some people's experience with the divorce forms available here goes 100% smoothly with no problems, while for others, not so much. It's a good sign that Divorce.com's reps are on top of responding to everything that gets brought up, but we weren't overwhelmed by an abundance of kudos from clients here.
4 packages ranging from DIY to full service
No matter where you live in the United States (or even in some Canadian provinces), you've got four packages to choose from with Divorce.com, ranging from really hands-on to do-it-mostly yourself (and keep in mind that the pricing doesn't include any court filing fees):
Waste of money if your spouse won't sign
One of the biggest areas of complaint is that this service won't work if both parties aren't prepared and willing to sign. Even though some packages come with help in serving the paperwork, you'll be out everything you paid if your now-spouse refuses to sign the divorce forms.
Your divorce forms might not be reviewed by an attorney after you fill them out
Another area where some clients felt misled was with respect to attorney review. Their FAQ says that "an attorney will not review your specific documents unless you purchase that service separately”. Granted, all of the divorce forms here have been carefully reviewed by lawyers prior to being passed along to you, so they're compliant with state laws, but don't expect that your "case manager” is necessarily an attorney checking out your completed paperwork prior to filing.
30-day guarantee is too limited to be useful
Finally, Divorce.com's 30-day guarantee isn't exactly what it seems. They'll refund your fees within the first 30 days of purchase... unless you've used any of their post-purchase services, like talking to a case manager, filling out a form, or speaking to someone in the customer care center. So, in all likelihood, unless there's a problem with the divorce forms themselves and/or your paperwork isn't accepted by the court (the other area where Divorce.com offers refunds), you're not likely to get your money back here.
Good but not great
While we're glad to see a service that could potentially be cheaper than working with an attorney to generate and file divorce forms, we're not sure that Divorce.com is the place to go. That's especially true when we look at what they charge for a DIY service and compare it with other services on our list that do the same thing for a fraction of the cost. Then factor in the not-completely-glowing reviews, and it's not hard to understand why Divorce.com comes in as "just average” on our list of options for divorce forms.
Let's take a look at Hello Divorce, a newer entrant in the realm of divorce forms. Owned by Financial Insights & Strategies, LLC, this platform boasts a modern and visually appealing website that prioritizes individualized attention during the divorce process.
Personalization comes at a price
With a tagline of "Your divorce, your way,” Hello Divorce aims to make customers feel supported right from their first visit to the site. However, while the emphasis on personalized treatment is going to be a plus for a lot of clients, it comes at a cost. Hello Divorce ranks among the priciest options in our evaluation.
Personalized support with minimal effort on your part
At Hello Divorce, the focus is on crafting a customized experience tailored to your unique needs, whether you opt for one of their four packages or schedule a planning session first. Hello Divorce pledges to handle the review, filing, and serving of documents on your behalf, all while offering the utmost in legal, financial, and emotional support throughout your journey. This makes it an incredible hands-off option for tackling divorce forms. Whether you're just looking at your divorce options or already knee-deep in it, Hello Divorce is ready to help.
Premium pricing
Wondering about the cost? As you'd expect, divorce forms that come with one-on-one assistance aren't going to be your least expensive option. Hello Divorce offers four packages, though availability varies depending on your location. These plans include:
Most plans can be paid in installments
With the exception of the DIY plan, all Hello Divorce packages can be paid in four monthly installments, though your total cost will be higher. (For example, the Pro plan priced at $1500 when you pay in full can also be billed in four monthly installments of $440, or $1760 total.)
Coverage limited to 8 states
But what if you reside outside the eight states serviced by the primary plans? Unfortunately, Hello Divorce offers little assistance. Unless you're fortunate enough to live in California, Colorado, Texas, Utah, Illinois, Washington, Indiana, or Florida, you're out of luck when it comes to divorce forms here. Outside of that primary coverage area, Hello Divorce provides only two services: Divorce Coaching for an hour ($150) or hiring a Divorce Finance Expert ($300).
Complimentary 15-minute consultation
The only no-cost service at Hello Divorce is their free phone consultation. However, unlike competitors offering free consultations with no specified time limit, this one is limited to 15 minutes. The aim of the call is to help you determine which package best suits your needs, so you can decide whether to invest in Hello Divorce's services.
Not a lot of feedback from clients
When looking into the reputation for Hello Divorce, we didn't find a ton of feedback to give us any insights. The few available reviews on Google Reviews and Trustpilot, were overwhelmingly positive, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. And, fortunately, Hello Divorce's parent company (Financial Insights & Strategies, LLC) maintains an unblemished "A+” rating and accreditation with the BBB.
Service is too limited (and spendy) to rank higher yet
At the end of the day, Hello Divorce offers some attractive features, but its limited geographic area and high cost are significant drawbacks. While the service's document filing assistance is impressive, it may be financially out of reach for many. In the future, we may see improvements such as expanded state coverage or more competitive pricing, which would easily move Hello Divorce's rating higher. But for the time being, Hello Divorce remains too exclusive for most people looking for divorce forms online.
Divorce Online isn't a service that's really going to wow you when it comes to filling out divorce forms online. The company doesn't provide any background information beyond saying that they've been in business for more than 7 years and have supposedly helped over 45,000 people over that time.
Virtual office? Is anyone there?
Even the company's contact address tracks to a virtual office space in Washington State. And, when we called during the posted business hours, the recorded message from the "divorce service center” said that we should call back later or send an email (but didn't provide an address to do so). Curiouser and curiouser, as Alice in Wonderland might say.
$139 to fill out and download divorce forms
But, let's take a look at what we could figure out. To start, Divorce Online charges a one-time fee of $139 to fill out your divorce forms. You'll begin by entering your name and email address, plus selecting your state of residence. From what we could see, Divorce Online is offered to residents of all 50 states plus several provinces in Canada. You'll be asked all of the typical questions, such as whether or not there are minor children in the relationship, sources on income, assets, and so forth.
See all the forms you'll get prior to making payment
From there, you'll get a list of the divorce forms provided by Divorce Online. In our test case, that included Answer, Waiver, and Request; Certificate of Compliance with Mandatory Disclosure (Petitioner); Civil Cover Sheet; Default; and Family Law Financial Affidavit (Petitioner). At that point, we were asked to pay that $139 fee that was mentioned.
Some things just don't add up
There's a lot about the Divorce Online site that struck us as odd. For example, when we were trying to suss out more information about the "Premium” package referenced on the site and looking through the details, there was a dropdown for "We Help You Create a Will Online.” That would be a nice add-on, but it seemed to be a typo (maybe a carry-over from a sister site of Divorce Online?) more than anything actually included in the package (especially since the description just referred to divorce forms and nothing about wills). Also, the fees for the higher-tier service were described as "symbolic”. Of what? Plus, during the checkout process, nothing was said about any platinum tier of service, which supposedly offers help with filing the divorce forms with the court. We're not sure at what point Divorce Online actually connects clients with those services, but it's not during the initial questionnaire and sign-up.
Risk-free refund policy? We're not so sure
Divorce Online also offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but like many of the divorce forms platforms we've evaluated, it only applies to the first 30 days and doesn't come into play if you've used any of their services. In other words, if you speak to anyone or start filling out any of the forms, it doesn't matter if you're unsatisfied; you still won't get a refund. And yet, as we filled out the divorce forms and got to the checkout page, we got this promise: "We're so confident Divorce Online will save you time and money, we'll let you test drive it 100% risk free for one full week.” So, which is it? Risk-free test drive or zero refund if you access any part of their services?
No feedback that we trust
Unsurprisingly, we weren't able to find any external feedback for Divorce Online: no listing with the Better Business Bureau, no profile on Trustpilot, nada. Sure, there are some testimonials on the company's website, but at this point, would you consider them trustworthy? We don't.
Not recommended
There's very little reason for us to recommend Divorce Online. Everything they promise but apparently fail to deliver, you can find with many of the divorce forms options on our list. And, with most of Divorce Online's competitors, you can be much more sure that they're going to pick up the phone during business hours, have hundreds (or thousands) of independently-verified reviews, and do an overall better job of helping you handle a process that's stressful enough on its own (without having to wonder if you're sending your money into the void for a service you might not even receive). It's a no-brainer that this is one of our least-recommended options for divorce forms today.
If you're familiar with office supplies, you may have come across the long-standing brand, TOPS. The company is known for offering forms for just about every purpose, and that includes divorce. However, if you're hoping for a comprehensive or user-friendly online platform to get your divorce rolling, you might be disappointed here. Instead of providing an intuitive website to walk you through the forms you need to fill out, TOPS' Divorce Kit is more of a workbook.
Outdated approach
It's crucial to understand that TOPS doesn't offer an online service to guide you through the divorce process. It simply provides an informational booklet to educate you about divorce forms and their filing procedures. You're going to be less-than-impressed with TOPS if you're expecting a digital platform accessible through smartphones, tablets, or computers, with an easy-to-follow process for filling out your divorce paperwork. TOPS Divorce Kit is definitely lacking in that department: while you can download PDF versions of some divorce forms, there's not much support if you get stuck or you have questions. So, unless you're 100% confident in going the DIY route to divorce, these divorce forms won't be your best fit.
You (don't) get what you (don't) pay for
The one big positive for TOPS Divorce Kit is its bargain-basement, one-time cost of $82.51. Initially, this might seem appealing compared to other divorce forms whose fees are well into the hundreds and beyond. But what do you actually get for what you pay? The product details only mention that the manual and PDF version contain divorce forms, including filing forms, questionnaires, parenting plan forms, and an appendix of state divorce resources. You could spend just a little more elsewhere and get a comprehensive online platform, the ability to ask questions via live chat, and the option to work with an attorney if you find that you need it.
Not much there
TOPS Divorce Kit just doesn't offer much beyond divorce forms, and they're not exactly forthcoming with specifics about what you're paying for. The most we can tell you is that you should be able to edit the PDFs in the Divorce Kit (though TOPS doesn't tell you if you'll also need an Adobe subscription to do so), and that not everything included in the package will come as a PDF. We're all for old school in some things, but paper how-to manuals? We're not fans.
Minimum purchase? 24 sets.
Pay attention to this critical bit of information: "must be purchased in multiples of 24”. Unless you're stocking up on paperwork for an office supply store, you're probably not going to need two dozen sets of divorce forms. Plus, there's nothing that would indicate to us that what TOPS is offering would be worth individuals or businesses shelling out nearly $2,000.
Is anyone actually buying these divorce forms?
The final nail in the TOPS Divorce Kit "coffin” is the fact that there's practically zero feedback for the company or for the forms themselves. Better Business Bureau? Nope. Trustpilot? Ditto. In all honesty, we can't see who would be willing to bite the bullet and spend a couple thousand bucks to get two dozen sets of these divorce forms, even if you run an office supply store and are trying to keep your offerings well-rounded. It would be an absolute shot in the dark.
Don't bother unless you own an office supply company (and maybe not even then)
If you're looking for divorce forms that simplify the process and alleviate your stress, TOPS Divorce Kit has almost nothing to offer. The reality is that their focus is not on individuals like you but rather businesses specializing in supplies. Fortunately, you've got plenty of options higher on our list that can get you the divorce forms you actually need. It shouldn't come as a shock that TOPS Divorce Kit lands at the bottom of our rankings.
If you and your spouse are in general agreement on key issues like asset division, child custody, and spousal support, then online divorce forms might be a suitable option for you. However, if your situation is more complex, such as disputes over significant assets, child custody battles, or instances of domestic violence, it's highly recommended to seek legal advice from a qualified attorney (fortunately, some of the sources of divorce forms that we've evaluated can connect you with exactly that kind of personalized help too).
Now, let's walk through what the process looks like if you use divorce forms instead of a lawyer. First, you'll need to choose a reputable website that is trustworthy and provides comprehensive guidance throughout the process.
Once you've found a suitable platform, you'll typically start by filling out an initial questionnaire with details about your marriage, assets, children, and other relevant information. Based on your responses, the platform will generate the necessary divorce forms tailored to your specific circumstances.
After completing the forms, you and your spouse will need to review and sign them. Some platforms (or state laws) may also require you to have the forms notarized to ensure their validity. Once everything is finalized, you'll file the forms with the appropriate court in your jurisdiction.
Keep in mind that even though you're using online forms, you'll still need to adhere to the legal requirements and procedures for divorce in your state. Most sites offering divorce forms have gone to great lengths to incorporate the specific laws and regulations governing divorce in your area, to ensure that everything is handled correctly.
Here's a good checklist to use as you consider your options for getting divorce forms online:
Using online divorce forms can be a convenient and cost-effective means for couples to get a straightforward and uncontested divorce. If you or a loved one is currently considering divorce they are not alone. Approximately 50% of couples today end their relationships in divorce. While divorce is a common theme for many couples it still doesn't make the transition any easier. Divorce can be one of the most stressful events in a person's life and finding ways to reduce that stress can mean a faster healing process and less wear and tear on the body and mind.
A mutually agreed upon divorce generally reduces the stress level for everyone. Couples that are able to agree to splitting assets, debt and custody fairly have the option of expediting their divorce through uncontested proceedings. An amicable, uncontested divorce takes much less time and money. Uncontested divorces can be filed using an online divorce company which allows you to do away with expensive lawyers that can drag out the process and significantly rake up the costs.
The online divorce process is surprisingly simple. In lieu of visiting a lawyer at $250+ an hour, an online divorce company essentially has you answer the same questions a lawyer would ask but your responses are provided online. The legal documents, appropriate for your State, are created and sent to you along with instructions on how to file and what to expect in your specific area.
What to Look for in an Online Divorce Company:
Taking the high road and working with your spouse to complete an amicable, uncontested divorce is one of the best ways to help reduce your stress level and get on with your life. Uncontested divorces may be completed at a fraction of the cost using an online divorce company to assist with the necessary paperwork and details. When looking for a quality online divorce company consider using independent product reviews to assist in your search.
