Wayfair is probably a name you've heard of in the home decor world - and for good reason. They're known for their high quality and great customer service, with over 25 million customers worldwide. They are a company trying to help people create that feeling of "home” in any space. The founders wanted to bring choice to the masses - and by creating an online store where they didn't have to worry about how much furniture they could cram into a showroom, Wayfair is able to provide the biggest selection available.

Huge selection and nice website

Despite having the largest selection of any competitor, Wayfair makes it easy to narrow down the search for the perfect bed for your fur-baby. You can start by deciding which size you need based on the size of your dog. Once you pick a category then you're able to use filters on the left to help you. This retailer has a lot of ways to reduce your choices - including the ones you'd expect like price, color, and features - but also has some neat ones like availability, sustainability, commercial use, and if you'd like to customize it. You can "favorite” ones you'd like to come back to and look at more closely so you don't forget which ones you'd liked.

Even more helpful hints

You can also look at accessories and beds that are on sale. If you scroll down just a little you can instead explore curated collections including dog sofas and chew-resistant beds. Keep scrolling and you can browse their popular picks in each size range. Unique choices

With so many to pick from it's no wonder Wayfair has some really unique choices. They have beds with roofs, beds that double as your nightstand, and one of our favorites: the dog bunk bed. In looking at the individual item itself you get quite a bit of information about it. There is a link where you can look at other items from the same brand. You can see what the bed is made of as well as pictures to show you what it looks like.

So much information

We found dog beds with pictures that help you measure your dog to make sure the bed is the right fit. Everywhere we looked, the dog beds had good descriptions and listed their dimensions, weight, specifications, and warranty information. A "highlights” section further down mentions whether you need tools to assemble the bed, and if it comes with washable cushions for those inevitable accidents. You can also read reviews from previous customers and see answers to questions that people have asked about the product.

Free shipping and returns

Shipping is free on most items so it would be rare you'd need to pay for it. They do have a few exceptions but the product information page should indicate if your dog bed is free to ship. Even standard shipping looks like it arrives in just a few days so your pooch will be sleeping in comfort before you know it. Returns are free if the item is in new condition, disassembled if it came that way, and in its original packaging. We recommend checking with customer service before you buy if you think you might want to return it if Rover doesn't like his new bed.

Chewy is a retailer that has been around for about 10 years. They are passionate about customer service and are always trying to get even better. The thousands of great reviews we found would seem to confirm that they are succeeding in their goal. They carry 2,000+ brands so you are sure to find one you'll be happy with.

Lots of dog beds to choose from

The website for Chewy isn't the best we've come across as far as being aesthetically pleasing, but it is still adequate. Their thumbnails are a little smaller than some and it's not quite the eye candy other retailers have, but their selection of over 1,000 beds and blankets for your four-legged friend is great. Prices here are pretty competitive with other brands, which is another plus. There are lots of ways to start off your shopping experience. You can look around by category - either on the left side of the page or toward the top.

Narrow down your search

When you get to the thumbnails you can either sort the choices you have in the right drop-down menu or you can slim it down by the many filters on the left. In addition to the typical ones such as breed size, color, and price, we thought the ability to filter by customer rating, style - are you looking for minimalist? Eclectic? Bohemian? - and the lifestage your dog is in were great ways to shop too.

Sales and discounts

Quite a few items seemed to be on sale. There were also some that mentioned you could save an extra 20% at checkout, or if you spent $75 on select items you could get a $25 eGift card. There were some fun styles including one that looks like a soft traditional "dog house” or even one that was Pooh's honey pot. If you keep scrolling, you'll find some information about choosing the best dog bed for your pooch.

Lots of details and ability to compare

When you go to look at a particular bed you can see the ratings by other customers just above the price, with quite a few reviews left for most products. Once you're viewing a product you can click the heart to remember it, but you can't do that from the thumbnails. There are a few pictures where you can view the bed from different angles and with or without a dog on it. There are plenty of details to read through, which is really nice to have. If you aren't finding what you're looking for, there are suggestions for similar beds if you keep scrolling toward the bottom. There is a section where you can compare with others as well, which we found very handy. At the end of the page you can read answers to questions and the reviews people have left.

Best return policy out there

Chewy offers free shipping on orders of at least $49. If your bed is less than that, then there is a flat rate of only $4.95 to have it shipped. They also have one of the best return policies out there: you have 365 days to return your item if you are not 100% unconditionally satisfied. You can't go wrong with trying a dog bed from Chewy.

Great choice for a dog bed

Even though Chewy's website isn't the easiest one out there to navigate, they really have some great things going for them. They have a large selection and some really cute options - not to mention the best return policy we've come across for dog beds. We think they are a great choice for finding the right sleeping arrangements for your pet.

Hayneedle is a home and office furnishing store based out of Omaha, Nebraska. They have gone through a number of changes over the years, but currently are a member of the Walmart ecommerce family. They focus on value and in bringing unique offerings to choose from.

Extra-small size is an option

As with other retailers there are the usual options for shopping when you first start looking. Mostly you need to be sure you are looking at the right sized bed for your dog. Something that Hayneedle has is the option to see "extra-small” dog beds. Sometimes our furry friends are very tiny, depending on the breed and the age of the dog. If you have a dog that isn't likely to get very big, being able to have an extra-small bed might be just the thing you're looking for.

Filter your choices

On the right-hand side you can filter choices by recommended, best-selling, customer rated, new products, and price - both low to high as well as high to low. On the left-hand side you can further reduce your options by type, dog size, feature, shape, cover material, color, brand, reviews, sale, and quick shipping. That could come in handy if you want to start your pet out in their new sleeping arrangements right away and don't want to have to wait long. We love the heart in the upper right-hand corner that allows you to mark ones you had liked for easy reference.

Unique styles to choose from

We found a number of really interesting styles which were very fun. The igloo option might be fun if your pup really likes that feeling of comfort. One looked like a large slipper for them to sleep in/on. Some of our favorites were the ones that looked like an actual bed. One that we looked at had three finishes for you to pick from. You can also add a protection plan if you'd like.

Good information

They are very clear when you could expect your dog bed to arrive. At the time of this review, ones that we looked at were only 5 days out. There was only one picture to show us what the product looks like, but there was a decent amount of information as you kept scrolling. We were given dimensions, the knowledge that there would be some assembly required, but that the mattress was included. One nice feature was the information about the brand to give you an idea of the company that makes it. Hayneedle gives the customer the option of leaving a review, though most of the items we looked at didn't happen to have any yet.

Free shipping, but you have to pay to return it

Shipping is free on all items and each product will give you the estimated arrival date. If you'd like it sooner, you can always pay to have it expedited. You can return most items for whatever reason within 30 days. You can look up your order and click on return/exchange to get more detailed information. Of course, if you want to be sure you can try it out first and then return if your dog isn't happy, then we recommend contacting customer service ahead of time to see what your options are. You do have to foot the bill on return shipping for changing your mind.

Ways to save

We were greeted by a pop-up when we last visited Hayneedle's site. If you provide your email address, you can get an extra 10% off your next purchase. That might come in handy for your puppy's bed.

Decent reputation

Hayneedle is rated highly by the Better Business Bureau, which means they are good about responding to customer complaints. We found some reviews from unhappy customers but not enough to be a great cause for concern.

Not a huge selection, but fun styles

While Hayneedle doesn't have quite the selection as some of their competitors, they do have some fun styles you might want to check out. Free shipping is always a great thing and prices are very reasonable. Give Hayneedle a look if your pet needs sleeping arrangements that are more unique.

Fur Haven is a Washington-based pet product company that started in 2004. They aim to provide comfort to pets of all shapes and sizes in an affordable price range for humans. The company is owned by pet parents themselves who know firsthand the preferences that a dog may have. This is also a company that loves to give back: you get the option of donating 2% of your purchase total to a charity of your choice. They also love being able to contribute beds, toys, and other items to local shelters.

Nice website to shop from

Fur Haven has one of the nicer websites to navigate that we've come across. Once you're looking at the category you want to browse, you can sort by a number of ways: best selling, featured, price, alphabetical, or date. You can also choose to view it as a grid of thumbnails or as a list with a full description of the item. We thought that was a nice touch. On the left-hand side there are filters to help you narrow down your search. You can look at a specific size, color, sleep surface, style, price, and if they are in stock or not. They don't have the selection that other retailers have, but there are still similar styles. For example, while a competitor may have a dog bed that looks like a mini couch, Fur Haven will have a similar style but cushier and without the legs so it just sits on the floor.

Great information about the product

When you go to view a particular bed there are a number of pictures - including ones that show the dimensions and breed recommendations for each size - as well as plenty of helpful information. You get to pick not only the color (if there are options) but also what the bed is made of so you are sure to get the right material for your fur baby. You can also bundle with other items such as a cover or a water resistant mattress liner and save some cash. As you keep scrolling down, you'll find a detailed description in a tab, with other tabs providing information on the different fill options and care instructions. Keep going farther for customer-submitted photos as well as reviews on that exact item.

Shipping is free...

Shipping is free from Fur Haven, which is a really nice bonus. They ask to allow 2 business days to ship and to expect your item in 3-10 business days from shipping, depending on your location. If you'd like it sooner they offer an expedited option you can decide on at check-out. They only ship Monday-Friday so keep that in mind when ordering.

...but not sure about returns

Their return policy is pretty typical: you have 30 days to return your item based on things such as size, color, and fabric. Returns have to be in unused condition and with no damages - unless the item had a manufacturer defect. We didn't see anything about who foots the bill for the return shipping so we recommend talking with customer service about that if you think you might need to send back your dog bed.

Email list savings

Be watchful of pop-ups as you begin to shop at Fur Haven. We were offered $10 off our next purchase if we provided our email address. We also noticed a rewards program where you can earn points to later cash in at checkout. Signing up is free and they provide a number of ways to earn points. You get 1 point for every dollar spent, but you can also earn more by leaving reviews - even more if you add a picture or a video with your review - and following/sharing on social media. You could end up saving a fair amount if you shop often.

Not a lot of styles, but great company

This is one of the best companies we've come across for overall satisfaction. We loved the shopping experience, the free shipping, and the very thrilled reviews we came across. The only downside is the smaller inventory, but if you can find what you're looking for here, Fur Haven is a great option.

Veehoo

Veehoo has been around for many years and has shops in the US, Canada, the UK, China, and Europe. They have a very good track record for customer service. We found lots of customers that couldn't say better things about the products and the help they received. As a company, Veehoo takes the time to learn about pets and their habits, listen to the feedback they get from their customers, improve current products, and innovate new ones.

Very small amount of choices

Since there are only 11 beds to look at on Veehoo there are no filters like most retailers will have. Most of them are the cot-looking type of bed, but they do have a couple of other styles as well. You can sort the beds - new arrivals, featured, best sellers, top rated, and price - using a drop-down menu on the right-hand side though. If you hover over "pet beds” at the top of the page you could also view just the beds in a particular style, such as plush. The pictures of the beds were nice and big, having only three thumbnails per row. You can see the name, base price, how many reviews (and what the overall star rating is,) and the color options. Not a ton of information here, but adequate to know if you want to look further into one.

Non-slip dog paw feet a nice touch

Once you want to get to know a pet bed, you can click on it to get more info. Here you can see how the different sizes look with a dog on them. There are also pictures with close-ups and directions for assembling if you're looking at an elevated bed. We thought the non-slip feet in the shape of a dog paw was a nice touch. The features sections had a little in it, though not much. We love that you can leave/read reviews from customers. One mentioned that her 111-lb dog loves her pet bed, but one of the legs didn't survive her 200lb husband falling on it. When she reached out to get a replacement - more than happy to pay for it - the company insisted on sending it for free. Can't beat that customer service!

Free shipping over $80

Free shipping is available for orders over $79.99. Between $1-$49.99 it's only $5.99 to ship it though. Between $50-$80 - which most dog beds are - you will only pay $3.99. Not bad, all in all. We couldn't find a time limit on returns, but we suggest you stay within 30 days to be safe. They will only accept returns for manufacturing defects, wrong items sent, or if you got the wrong color or size. You have to email them first, but once you have approval, you can go ahead and ship it back. Since we didn't see them say they would pay for return shipping, we assume that's on the customer.

Rewards program

Be watching for ways to save as you shop. We were invited to join Veehoo's email list for 10% off our next purchase. They, like many other small businesses, have a rewards program where you sign up and get points for spending (1 point per dollar) and interacting with the company on social media. These points can then be used on future products.

Student and military discounts available

Veehoo offers a 12% student discount and a 15% military discount you can take advantage of if either of those apply to you. All you do is provide your name, email, and an uploaded picture of your student/military ID to verify. One last way to potentially save is if you are an influencer that promotes their products to your followers. Have a YouTube channel featuring Spot? You just might be able to earn a commission by promoting Veehoo.

Can't beat customer service but very few choices

This is one of the best companies we've rated. They have terrific customer service and high-quality products. The biggest downside is the lack of choices, but if one of their styles is what you're looking for, we recommend buying your dog bed from Veehoo.

PetPlay - P.L.A.Y. is an acronym for Pet Lifestyle and You - is a company that was created to fill a need the founders weren't finding for their own fur-baby. They wanted products to be high quality, aesthetically pleasing, affordable, and as good for the planet as it was for their dog. When they weren't finding what they wanted, they decided to create a business that did just that. Not only do they make eco-friendly products, but they are all about giving back to the pet community. For every bed purchased, you are helping get one donated to a shelter - often a very scary place for a dog - to help a pet feel a little more comfortable while they wait for their new home.

Nice website but could use some tweaks

PetPlay's website is very nice and inviting. We did notice that there wasn't an option to look at "all” of the dog beds though. Most of the time, this probably won't be an issue because you'll be searching for one of the provided categories to check out. You can search by size or by type to get started. Once you pick a category you can slim down your choices by using a couple of filters on the left. There aren't many to choose from, however, and when you do try, the social media buttons that are pinned in place are kind of in the way.

Fun fabrics to choose from

PetPlay offers just a few styles, but then there are a number of really fun fabrics to choose from within each style - silhouettes of dogs in heels, camo, and even a variety of mustaches. While this is one of the nicest websites we've come across as far as being clean-cut and pleasing to look at, there are a couple of little intuitive shopping updates that would make it truly top-notch.

Great shopping and customer service

Once you move from thumbnails to picking out a bed to look at more closely, the experience is just fine. There are a number of pictures that you can look at to get a good feel for all angles of the dog bed, as well as some pictures with a dog on it. The "star” ratings were actually dog paws, which was a fun touch. While there were only 3 reviews on the bed we looked at, they were positive regarding customer service as well as the bed itself. One we read mentioned they appreciated the emails making sure things went well and providing alerts for delivery updates. There was a great details section to let you know more information about the bed and a way to donate to EcoCart to make your purchase carbon neutral if you'd like that. If your size/color doesn't happen to be in stock you can click the "notify me when available” button.

Choose between FedEx or USPS for shipping

Shipping costs will be calculated when you order and you get to choose from FedEx or USPS. They say to allow for 2 business days to process your order and get it shipped, and PetPlay makes sure you know they're closed Saturdays, Sundays, and major holidays. Returns can be made within 30 days for unused products only, however, be prepared to foot the bill for the shipping plus a $9 restocking fee. There are a few products that cannot be returned such as used items, toys, and custom items.

Great quality and mission

While PetPlay doesn't have the best shipping and return policy, or the biggest selection, we were still very impressed with their quality and their mission. If you happen to find a style you're happy with, we suggest you go ahead and give them a try.

PetSmart started in 1987 so they've been around the block for awhile. They love pets and pet parents and aim to make both happy. They have almost 1700 retail locations and offer adoption services to help pets find happy homes. They love to give back to the community as well.

Lots of beds to choose from

On the main page of PetSmart's dog beds you'll find a lot of ways to start looking around. You can shop by the kind of bed you're looking for: orthopedic, pillow, cuddler, crate mats, elevated beds, and cooling/heating beds. On the left-hand side you can shop by what's available in a local store - potentially very handy - size, type, color, brand, price, rating, and a "more ways to shop” category with some other fun ways to narrow down your choices.

Fun and cute styles

They have some neat options which include cute fabrics and some fun squishy pillow styles (we especially loved the pineapple design.) There was a cool portable one in a cot style, but it also had a canopy with a water-resistant roll-down sun shade. If you and your pup love to spend time at the beach together, that might be a great option for you. Keep scrolling down the main page and you'll find a short article giving some information on dog beds for Spot, including the many ways to get one at PetSmart.

Cluttered page, but lots of good information

On the individual product pages you can find some information about the bed you're looking at. This wasn't our favorite shopping experience as it wasn't as clean-cut as some other retailers, but you can still find out what you need to know just fine. The description box had the relevant data you'd be interested in, such as the dimensions, what the fill and fabric are made of, and the particular features. The directions tab has care information to keep your bed clean. Customers can leave reviews - complete with pictures if they want - so that you can read what other people have had to say. Recommendations for items other pet parents have bought were also included.

Great loyalty program

PetSmart has a loyalty program called "Treats.” It's free to join and could be a great way to save some money if you think you'll be a frequent shopper. Be on the lookout for banners or text in red that will offer you ways to save. When we were looking at a dog bed, there was a note on the product page that said if we bought two dog or cat beds, we'd save 30%. There was also a limited time offer of a way to earn "Treats” points by choosing DoorDash as your delivery method, so be watching for similar promos.

Lots of shipping options

There are a number of ways you can get your dog bed delivered through PetSmart, though general shipping information was a little hard to come by. You can type "shipping” or "returns” in the search bar to get more specific information. We were given the options to pick up at a local store - curbside pick up was available, same day delivery by DoorDash, or have it shipped. We had to put a bed into our cart to find out that standard shipping is $4.95, guaranteed 2-day shipping is $22.99, and guaranteed next-day is $34.99. Keep in mind that the price may go up if you are getting a fancier bed than we looked at. If you want to return your bed - in new condition only - you are welcome to do so, but it will cost you the return shipping. To save that, you can always bring your bed back to a retail store instead.

Affordable options

Most of the poor reviews we came across had to do with the grooming service at PetSmart, rather than their products. If you need your dog groomed you might want to go elsewhere, but if you are looking for a bed, this is a very affordable choice. They have a number of cute and comfortable choices that may be just what Fido - and your pocketbook - is looking for.

Walmart

The very first Walmart store opened in 1962 when Sam Walton had a simple vision: the lowest prices anytime. Since then, they have grown to about 10,500 stores and have defined what it means to be a one-stop shopping experience. Fun fact: Walmart's founder, Sam Walton, once had to do a public hula dance because he lost a bet to his CFO. Be careful what you bet on!

Friendly shopping experience

If you've shopped online at Walmart before, you know how their website works. It's really user-friendly and very intuitive. First, you can sort your items on the right hand side by best seller, best match, and price. Over on the top left hand side you can look at items that are in store, within a price range, by brand, or by the speed at which you can get it. Just below that you can filter by small, medium, large, orthopedic, and elevated beds. Down the left hand side you have more filters you can use - pet size, color, special offers such as clearance, material, customer rating, retailer, and if the dog bed can be gifted or not. All that means is that they will hide the price and let you add a gift message with shipping.

Wide variety of styles to choose from

As you would expect, Walmart has a plethora of dog beds to choose from - and in a very affordable price range. As you look at the thumbnails you'll see some basics such as a picture, the price, name, customer rating, and any other little tidbits they have. For example, some have a "best seller” sticker, or 3+ day shipping, or there are perks such as free shipping/delivery on that item if you are a Walmart+ member. We really liked the wide variety of styles to choose from. One that didn't have great reviews but still made us smile was a dog bed shaped like a banana!

Plenty of information about each dog bed

The individual product page has quite a bit of information available. There are a number of pictures, which we always love seeing. You can choose your size and color, or skip down to reading the reviews for that dog bed. You have shipping options right there, as well as if the item is shipped by Walmart or a third-party seller. The bed we looked at also had a link that mentioned free returns within 30 days. If you keep scrolling you'll find the product details, which give great information. You can also see the specs, the directions, and any warnings. The reviews are toward the bottom of the page, as are other suggestions you can look at.

Shipping and returns are hit-or-miss

Shipping wasn't always free, depending on the particular dog bed, so make sure you look into that on the model you're interested in. Sometimes you can have it shipped to your local store for free instead of paying to have it delivered directly to your home. Returns also seem to be hit-or-miss. One bed we looked at from a third-party seller had free returns, while another we looked at didn't mention anything. We recommend looking into the return policy for the individual product you're considering.

Walmart+ program could save you money

Walmart has a membership program that will cost you either $12.95/month or $98/year. If you are a frequent Walmart shopper though, it might be worth it. You can save on gas prices, get free delivery of your groceries, free shipping, the ability to check out on your phone, and early access to things like their Black Friday sales. We noticed that some of the dog beds available were cheaper if you were a Walmart+ member.

Great lower-priced option

As with most things, Walmart is a good option for lower-priced items. They tend to have a decent shipping and returns policy - especially if you are able to take it back to a store near you - and their selection is great.

Paw

Paw is a company based in Florida. They are pretty new on the market, but these dog beds have a very unique style you and Fido might both enjoy. The founder, Dave, wasn't thrilled with the types of beds out there so he designed ones that fit the decor of your home a bit more than the traditional type. They look more like rugs, which is innovative. Dave's dog Marlie tests out every product and both Dave and Marlie need to be satisfied with it before it hits the shelves.

Big pictures as you browse

When you first start shopping you'll see that all the pet beds available are on one page. Since the number of choices isn't huge, that's not a big deal. We really enjoyed that there were only two thumbnails per row and they had nice, big pictures. In addition, you could see that there were lots - sometimes thousands - of reviews per bed. We did find it a little fishy, though, that there could be over 5,000 5-star reviews on just one kind of bed. That made us wonder if customers were really allowed to leave unfiltered opinions or if that many really were extremely satisfied. Not only were there dog beds that look like a faux fur area rug, but there were also some other fun prints: animal, checkered, and even your favorite sporting ball.

Plenty of what you need to know

Every product page has a bunch of information about that particular dog bed. There are a number of pictures, most of them with a dog on it to give you size context. The one we looked at had a lot of color choices. The beds seem to come in either small/medium, large/extra large, and giant. We really liked the big picture about halfway down that shows the different layers the bed comes with. The product specs had great sections like the benefits, dimensions of the different sizes, what's included, and care instructions. Finally, there are pictures of pets enjoying their Paw bed as well as the reviews you can browse through.

10-year memory foam guarantee

Shipping is free for V.I.P.P. (Very Important Pet Parent) silver and gold Paw members. If not, the dog bed we checked out only cost $4.95 to ship. They try to get in-stock items shipped out the same day, though they promise it will be done within 1-2 business days. Returns are available within 30 days and don't cost you anything. They also have a 10-year memory foam guarantee so if your dog bed ever flattens in that time, you just have to send a picture to the email provided to get going on that.

Watch for seasonal sales

We were offered 10% off by entering our email address at our most recent shopping trip. Be on the lookout for a similar pop-up. They also had a seasonal sale going that dropped their normal prices by about 30%, so if there's a holiday coming up soon that you could wait for, you could score yourself some nice savings. They also have their V.I.P.P. rewards program which is free to join. You get points depending on how much you spend - 1 point per dollar - and how you engage with them on social media. Your pet's birthday also gets you more points. There are silver and gold paw levels, but we didn't find any information about how to level up.

If you like the rug look, give them a try

We did come across some unhappy pet parents in some reviews outside of the ones posted on the Paw store. But considering how few there were, we don't feel this should stop you from trying Paw out - especially if you like the rug look. You'll need to try a different retailer if another dog bed is more your style, though.

Majestic Pet is based out of Irvine, CA and has its beginnings back in 1994 when they started making dog collars and leashes. Since then they have expanded into more pet products. You can find their brand either online or in a huge number of brick-and-mortar stores throughout the nation.

Need to pick a type of bed first

The shopping experience at Majestic Pet is a little different than most of their competitors. Instead of showing you all the products and then having you narrow down your search from there, you first have to pick the type of bed you're looking for. Do you want the bagel bed? A rectangle? Round? Pillow bed? Maybe just a crate mat? You can go fancy with the contemporary lounge bed or the luxe bagel bed.

Personalized dog beds

Each category has a brief description as to its highlights so you can see where you might want to start looking. There are a few different shapes and materials to choose from. Once you pick a category you can see the different options within it. The only information you see on the thumbnails is a picture, the price, and the colors you can select. We thought it was really fun that you can have your dog bed personalized.

Deceptive prices on thumbnails

We felt a little misled, however, when the price of the thumbnail said one thing, but then you clicked to get more information on that item only to find the price was actually quite a bit higher. Our guess is that to get the price on the thumbnail you have to just be ordering a new cover rather than the whole bed. That wasn't indicated in any way until you got to the product page though. Not cool. Other than the price difference, the information on the page was helpful. There was a size chart and washing instructions as well as a really nice description and additional information sections.

Fast and free shipping

The turnaround for shipping is pretty quick with Majestic Pet. If you order before 11am (EST), your dog bed will usually ship either that day or the next business day. It appears as though shipping is free. We checked a lower-priced item as well as a mid-range priced item and both had free shipping in our cart.

Typical return policy

If you order directly from Majestic Pet, you have 30 days to return your item if you change your mind. As is common, it does have to be in its original condition and packaging. They do require you to contact them first and obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization or they won't accept it. You also have to pay for the return shipping so keep that in mind.

Know the price will be higher than it initially seems

Overall, Majestic Pet seems to be a really great brand with a lot of happy customers. They have their own style of dog beds, but if you like it and think it will work well for Rover, then you might want to check them out. Keep in mind the price you first see isn't as low as you'll be paying though.

Petco is a company that's been around a while, having been established in 1965. They have over 1500 brick-and-mortar locations including more than 100 in-store vet hospitals. They seek to build communities that help strengthen the bond between the pets and their "parents”.

Lots of ways to shop

When you first arrive at the site you have a few ways that you can shop. The first is the type of bed. You can shop for orthopedic beds to support older dogs, bolster beds to provide cushion for your pet, durable beds that have chew, fade, and water resistant fabrics, and cooling beds to help when temperatures climb. You can also shop blankets to make any space more comfortable or crate mats and pads if your dog is crate trained. The next way to shop is by your dog's size so you aren't looking at beds that are far too large for Mimi or too small for Clifford.

Large selection to choose from

Petco has quite a few choices when it comes to dog beds. If you keep scrolling down you'll find beds automatically sorted by most popular, but there are a number of filters on the left-hand side to narrow the choices down: category, price, size, brand, average rating, if you can pick it up in store or have it shipped, bed fill, color, material, and type. There is everything from the traditional looking pet bed, to a cot, or even a mini couch just for your dog. We also liked that toward the bottom of the page, Petco gives you a number of FAQs and things to consider when choosing your bed.

Loads of details and pictures

On an individual item's page, you'll find lots of pictures with plenty of information on that particular dog bed. An orthopedic one we looked at showed a cross-section of the materials the bed was made of and how that would help make your dog comfortable. It had a star rating made up of reviews from other customers. There was a place where you could look at answers to questions other shoppers have had, including the ability to add a picture of your dog in the bed for other people to see. There were plenty of details to read through as well as an attribute section and information about the warranty.

Free shipping on $35 or more, but returns are on you

Free standard shipping is available on Petco orders of $35 or more so if your dog bed is a lower-priced item, you may want to add a couple of toys or bags of dog food to your cart to get your free shipping. Otherwise you'll have to put the item in your cart and have them calculate the shipping costs, as there are a number of factors that go into it. If your new bed isn't satisfactory to your four-legged friend you have 30 days from the time of initial shipping of the order to return it - NOT from the date you receive it. You can return it to any store for free, or you can ship it back, but we are guessing you'll have to cover the shipping costs for your return since Petco mentions in a couple of places that returning in-store is free.

Email list invite, but no discount to sweeten the deal

Be on the lookout for pop-ups in order to save money. We were asked to join the Petco mailing list in order to get exclusive offers, plus pet tips and resources. There wasn't a discount code offered, but signing up might still lead to saving you a few dollars.

Not the best customer service

While the selection is great and free shipping of orders over $35 is a perk, we came across quite a few unhappy Petco customers. Complaints ranged from problems with ordering to packages being delivered to the wrong address. Customer service was lacking when trying to get issues resolved as well. Petco has a "B”rating from the Better Business bureau, which isn't horrible, but it's not impressive that this store isn't in the habit of responding to complaints and trying to resolve them. If you have a Petco nearby (for easy in-store pickup and returns) and convenience is high on your list, then go ahead and give them a try. If not, you may want to check out a company that has a few more happy customers.

Dog is a subsidiary of TAB, which has been around since 1969. They have a number of companies specific to different animals. The goal of the company is to provide customers with very competitively priced items for their pets - and they seem to deliver on that.

Utilitarian website but nice selection

Dog has another fairly utilitarian-style website, though they have a fair amount of good information at-a-glance. One thing we noticed was that even though we were in the "dog bed” category, there were a number of other items that came up as well: dog pajamas, sprays, and dog tags. One handy thing was that there was not only just the thumbnail of a product, but also a little information about it including a star rating, if it's made in the USA, if it has free shipping, or if all or just some of the styles are in stock.

Limited filter options

On the left side you can slim down your choices by the filters available - featured products, brand, or price. They didn't have nearly as many ways to narrow it down as some of their competitors. The dog beds here aren't anything amazing: we saw the typical styles that are popular. You've got rectangle and round options, some that have a little lip on them your dog can use to snuggle up against or use as a pillow, the mini-couch, and even the kind that doubles as your nightstand.

Nice product information

Once you pick a dog bed to look at a little more closely, there is a decent amount of information available. The product details tell you all about what kind of material is inside the bed as well as what the cover is made of. There are dimensions so that you can be sure you're getting the right size for Fido and for the space where the bed will go. You can look at reviews and ask questions, which is definitely a nice feature.

Price matching is available

Something we really loved is that Dog will price match if you find your exact bed, under the same brand name, for a lower price at a different location. There are some criteria that understandably need to be met, but you can find that easily on their site by looking under the "Best Price Guarantee” at the very bottom of the page. When looking at that we had a pop-up come up that said there was a limited-time coupon we could use, so be watching for savings like that.

Less than stellar shipping policy

Shipping is free on orders of $99 and up to 20lbs. If your dog bed doesn't meet those requirements you'll have to add it to your cart to see what the shipping will be. One $250 bed we looked at weighs 57lbs: economy shipping was free for a limited time, but there was a $15 oversize fee we were being charged. For a less expensive bed of $30 we were being charged $6.99 to ship it plus a $4.05 weight fee ($0.45/lb for anything over 10lbs) making shipping just over $11. Dog's refund policy is typical with returns being allowed for 30 days, but the item must be unused and you pay to ship it back.

Price matching is great but not much else

Dog does have some nice things going for them - like price matching - but with a less than stellar shipping situation and not a ton to choose from in the first place, this may not be the first choice for your dog bed. We personally would shop elsewhere and leave Dog as a last resort.
