Created by two dog-loving moms, Pooch Perks calls itself "the ultimate way to Pamper Your Pooch".
3 club memberships
There are three main Dog Treat Club memberships available with Pooch Perks:
Shipping is extra
Unlike many of the Dog Treat Clubs in our review, Pooch Perks doesn't include shipping with your monthly delivery cost, so expect a flat-rate charge of $2 for each package.
Mixed customer reviews
Reviews of the Pooch Perks Dog Treat Club are very mixed. While we found some reviews from happy subscribers, most of those were months (if not years) old. On the other hand, comments left more recently described problems with low-quality toys, shipping delays, and very poor communication with the customer service team. One customer trying to cancel a membership was never able to reach someone at Pooch Perk's toll-free number, and they never received a response to the voicemails they left or the emails they sent. Even customers who specifically signed up for a single month's delivery found that their plan was automatically renewed - and couldn't reach anyone to cancel it.
No refund policy
There's also no refund policy or satisfaction guarantee on the Pooch Perk site. Yes, they claim that you can cancel your subscription with no hassles, but we already saw that hasn't been the case for more than a few customers. Their FAQ also states very clearly that they will not remind customers of their renewal date, so if you forget to cancel and the plan renews, there's no way to stop it. In fact, they recommend that you cancel 7 days in advance of your renewal date, just to be safe. That doesn't exactly scream "we care about our customers", does it?
No rating
To top it off, we weren't able to find a listing for Pooch Perks with the Better Business Bureau. A strong BBB rating goes a long way to balance negative comments and ratings in other places, but there was no such luck with this retailer.
Disappointing experience
Compared with other Dog Treat Clubs on the market today, Pooch Perks doesn't exactly get our tails wagging. We think you'll have a better experience with one of the higher-ranked subscription plans in our review.
These membership plans are a fun, affordable way to lavish a little love on our favorite canine companions. After all, why should humans get all the fun of unboxing and getting new surprises every month?
While there are lots of options out there, there are two main products included in most Dog Treat subscription boxes: treats and toys! The best clubs make it easy for you to customize what you'll get in each delivery, based on your dog's size, preferences, and any allergies or other sensitivities. And, if you've got a pet who can unstuff a plush toy in just a matter of seconds, there are even Dog Treat Clubs that offer special packages designed to thwart even the most determined chewers in the pack!
Dog Treat Clubs also make a fantastic gift for those people on your gift-giving list who seem to already have everything they could want for themselves. You won't win them over with a boring gift card or another fruit basket, but watch their eyes light up when they get another package in the mail full of novel chews and tug toys for Rover. Most of these membership subscriptions can be easily gifted for the length of time you prefer, from a one-off shipment to monthly deliveries.
When you start to compare the various Dog Treat Clubs out there today, it's easy to get overwhelmed by all of the options. To find the subscription service that's the right fit for your pet or for your gift recipient's furry friend, here are several criteria to help you "sniff out" the perfect one:
