Founded in 2004, American Screening Corporation (ASC) is a US-based manufacturer and distributor of rapid diagnostic testing products, with a focus on drug and alcohol screening. The company offers a wide range of FDA-registered and CLIA-waived test kits and supplies, serving clients both in the US and internationally. ASC also develops digital tools like its proprietary testing app and scheduling software, designed to streamline drug test administration and reduce turnaround times. In addition to diagnostic testing, ASC partners with RevealBackground to provide FCRA-compliant background checks. The company's operations are certified under ISO 13,485 standards, and its products carry CE and other regulatory approvals.
Geared towards bulk test purchases, but single-test kits are available
Clearly, ASC is an option if you're looking for large-scale drug testing solutions - for your workplace, your athletes, or other groups who may need testing on a regular basis or in big numbers. But, what about for the everyday consumer? We have good news and bad news for you. The good news is that there are single-test kits offered by American Screening: for example, we found the 5-Panel Rapid Drug Screen Cup by Reveal for $15.99, a 6-Panel Screen for an even more affordable $2.13 each, and Discover's Fentanyl Dip Urine Test for just $3.15. Chances are good that, if you know where to look, you'll be able to find a one-off test for most drugs you may want to detect. (Hint: use the filters and suss out which "drug tested for" acronyms match what you're looking to determine.) The bad news is that the vast majority of the drug tests at ASC are sold in cases of 25, though a few of them came in boxes of 10 or 15.
Spend $199+ to get free delivery
You're going to have to spend at least $199 if you want to get free shipping here. Again, it's obvious that American Screening caters to organizations more than individuals. On a positive note, when we visited ASC recently, there was a pop-up discount of 10% on our first order if we provided our email address.
No option to consult a professional
Other downsides? You're on your own for interpreting the drug tests here. There's no consultation with a medical professional, and you're administering all of the tests yourself. That's only a negative if you need those services, though - and you may be fully confident in your ability to do both of those.
Company has a checkered past
How about the company's reputation? You'll notice when you look them up on the Better Business Bureau's website, ASC has a ho-hum "B-" grade, largely due to an alert of government action. American Screening Corporation has a significant blemish on its reputation stemming from a major case brought by the Federal Trade Commission. During the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company advertised personal protective equipment like masks and hand sanitizer as "in stock" and ready to ship within 24-48 hours. In reality, many customers waited weeks - or even months - for their orders, and the company didn't follow legally required steps to notify buyers of delays or offer refunds.
Sued by the FTC
The FTC sued, and a federal court found that American Screening and its leadership misled consumers and violated federal shipping rules. The court ordered the company to pay nearly $14.7 million, which the FTC is using to process customer refunds. As part of the ruling, American Screening and its owners were permanently banned from advertising or selling PPE, and the decision was upheld on appeal in 2024. Does that have anything to do with drug testing? Not necessarily, but it's a pretty big "oopsie" - one that we wouldn't feel comfortable ignoring completely, especially when over on Trustpilot, there are still quite a few customers saying that deliveries of just about everything sold by ASC tend to be delayed, and support reps are often "rude, disrespectful, and extremely arrogant".
Only consider this company if you're doing large-scale drug testing
Despite all of the negatives, we've bumped American Screening Corporation up a bit since our last review - mostly because they've lowered the free shipping threshold since our previous evaluation, and there are more tests in stock than we spotted previously. But, for most people looking for drug tests, this isn't a provider we'd recommend. If you're organizing large-scale testing for your employees, ASC might be worth a look, but you'd better be prepared for orders that don't arrive on time and support reps who might not really care to do anything about it.

Some even include lab confirmation, meaning you collect the sample at home and mail it in for professional analysis. That said, not all kits are created equal. Accuracy, ease of use, and how results are reported can vary widely. Some come with a consultation with a medical professional, for example, while others are basic dip strips that change color and it's up to you to interpret them correctly.
