Bed Bath & Beyond Review 4.5 Star Rating

Bed Bath & Beyond

4.5 Star Rating
  • Cost: From $24.99 to $229.99
  • 800+ options to choose from

Bed Bath and Beyond is one of the most well-known names for all of your home goods, with brick-and-mortar locations throughout the US and an easy-to-browse online store. Shopping at BB&B is a great one-stop option if you're trying to redo your entire bedroom or get some new things for the kitchen after you find the perfect feather pillows.

Over 700 throw pillows

So, what does this retailer carry when it comes to those pillows? On the lower end of the price range, your search might initially turn up lots of decorative pillows. In fact, out of the 800+ results you'll get when searching for "feather pillows", 770 of them are throw pillows.

Just the basics

The first bed pillow you'll find is the Choicest Comfort Quilted Feather Standard/Queen, priced at $24.99. It offers medium support, 370 thread count, and comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty: nothing special, just a basic feather pillow.

Allergy-free contents

On the luxe end of the spectrum is the Standard Feather Down Back Sleeper Pillow by The Pillow Bar. At a price of $229.99 - each, not sold in a set of two - you might want to try one before you buy them for every bedroom! What makes this one so high-end? It's handcrafted of hypoallergenic, sterilized down, making it allergy-free and microbial treated. It comes with a 100% cotton sateen washable zippered pillow protector as well, giving it a more elegant feel than your ordinary feather pillow. It's also made in the USA, if you like to buy American-made products. (We definitely would have liked to see some customer reviews on this one, but at the time of our evaluation there weren't any on the BB&B site.)

Best Feather Pillow Stores

You'll likely find a match

You'll find around two dozen options between those two price points. It's not the broadest selection of any feather pillow store we found, but it's enough that you'll probably find at least one that matches the features and price that you've got in mind.

Free shipping over $39

As you browse the Bed Bath and Beyond site, you could get offers to save more. We got a pop-up for 20% off any single item plus free shipping on orders of $39+, and then later got one offering $20 off a purchase of $80 or more. The fine print said the offer was only good for new email list subscribers, and certain exclusions applied. However, the free shipping isn't a special deal: you'll always qualify when you spend at least $39. And, of course, if there's a BB&B near you, you can always order online and pick up in store or curbside - just make sure you have the right location entered at the top of the site.

240 day return policy

Bed Bath & Beyond also extended their return policy, from 180 days to 240 days from the date of purchase. You can bring your items back to the store or return them via mail, for a refund or exchange. Your feather pillows don't have to be in unused condition to qualify, so if you try yours out and just don't love it, you can switch it for a different one or get your money back. This is one of the most generous return policies of all the retailers we evaluated.

One of our favorites

Bed Bath and Beyond is one of our favorite places to buy feather pillows. Although their selection is smaller than some retailers (which is the main reason BB&B didn't earn our top rating), most shoppers will find plenty to choose from. Plus, with convenient options for ordering online and picking up in-store and one of the most customer-friendly return policies in the industry, Bed Bath and Beyond should be on your list if you're looking for feather pillows.

Where Can You Buy the Best Feather Pillows?

If you've ever gotten the best night's sleep of your life when spending a night at a luxury hotel, you might be wondering where you can buy their feather pillows for your own home. You're in luck: there are a number of online retailers who can make your sweet dreams a reality by offering the very same pillows for purchase. But why are feather pillows so popular?

Many people prefer natural materials over synthetics, and some customers say that having feather- or down-filled pillows makes for a cooler, more comfortable rest. Plus, compared with foam-filled designs, feather pillows are more easily shaped to your head, neck, or any other body part that needs gentle support.

Feather Pillow Store FAQ

As the name suggests, a feather pillow is filled with at least 51% feathers, usually sourced from geese. They have a very different feel compared to regular pillows, often offering a much more comfortable night's rest. That's why you'll find feather pillows in high-end hotels and resorts.
Feather pillows are classified by their blend of feathers and down. You can get pillows that are 100% feathers, a blend of 75/25, and so on. You can also find differences in the shell material, ranging from Egyptian cotton to 100% organic (but either way, you'll probably have your pillow in a pillowcase).
Of course! Just like regular pillows, feather pillows come in a wide range of support levels. You'll have no trouble finding one that offers just the right amount no matter how you tend to sleep. Some retailers of feather pillows offer density adjustments if you get yours delivered and have a Goldilocks-type experience of "too much support" or "not supportive enough" - they'll tweak it until you say it's just right.
The best approach is to never need to wash it, by using pillow protectors in addition to pillowcases. Why? Washing a feather pillow can make the feathers and down more brittle, due to the feathers' natural oils being stripped away. And, if you don't dry your pillow properly after washing it (in cold water, never hot), it could wind up smelling terrible. Consider putting on a proper-fitting pillow protector and pillowcase before you use your feather pillows for the first time.
Good news: with proper care, your pillows should last anywhere from 5-10 years (or longer!). The more you keep them protected from moisture and body oils, the more life you can expect to get from them. That's a lot longer than the 1-2 years that most synthetic pillows last.
If you've taken the steps to keep your feather pillows clean, you should only need to replace them when they no longer offer the support you need. If you're constantly fluffing them, or if you fold them in half and they don't expand back to full size, it might be time to get new ones.
They can be: you'll find super high-end pillows priced at over $400. On the other hand, it's possible to find basic feather pillows for under $20. Keep in mind that they can last many years longer than synthetic pillows, giving you a better return on your bedding "investment" .
That depends on where you buy them from. Some retailers have extremely generous return policies, letting you use the feather pillows for up to 8 months before deciding if you want to get a refund. But, most stores expect the pillows to be in unused condition to be eligible for a return, so be sure to use a pillow protector right away in order to keep them in like-new shape.

Continued from above...

That feature makes feather pillows equally popular with interior decorators: a good down-filled pillow can be plumped, fluffed and shaped to look absolutely perfect in a model home or social media photo. In fact, there are online stores dedicated solely to feather throw pillows for home decor!

Whether you're freshening the look of your living room or replacing your flattened bed pillows, shopping online puts the best selection of feather pillows at your fingertips. But, not all stores are created equal. Here are a few helpful criteria to keep in mind as you decide where to buy your pillows:

  • Selection. The best stores carry a wide range of inventory, from budget-friendly basic styles to hotel-level luxury pillows.
  • Pricing. How do the prices compare to other retailers'? Are there any perks like free shipping or promo discounts that can make your purchase even more affordable?
  • Ease of Navigation. If a store has a great selection of pillows but their website makes it hard to find what you need, you might wind up feeling frustrated. Choose a retailer with a well-designed online store to minimize hassles.
  • Reputation. What do other customers say about their experience with the store and their satisfaction with the feather pillows they purchased?
