Saturday, April 26th
Under Armour has been around since 1996. Under Armour got its start with its prototype shirt known as "The Shorty”. This skin-tight stretchy shirt was the start of a company that would come to serve athletes for years to come. Since then, Under Armour has been growing non-stop. In 2003, Under Armour became a household name when it signed a partnership with the NFL for sportswear. The company also has a mission to support athletes. Under Armour offers impressive collabs with celebs, like NBA champion Stephen Curry among others, to take a stand so every young person has equal access to sport.
Hardcore design with simple browsing
While many sports brands go the "clean and lux-y” route with their websites, Under Armour breaks the mold with a grungy, hardcore, sport-focused design style. The landing page is a breeze to browse. Helpful links include "New Arrivals”, "First Day Fits”, or "UA Official College Gear”. If you know what you want to browse for, you can check out the top navigation bar for "New & Featured” items, as well as tabs for Men, Women, Kids, Shoes, the Curry brand, and Under Armour outlet clothing. When you start browsing, you can narrow the inventory by type of clothing, sport, size, fit, collection, and price. Each listing also shows examples of different colors and a back and front view of clothes when you mouse over the images.
Over 1,300 styles to choose from
Whether you're looking for a sport-specific item, athleisure, or officially licensed gear for your favorite team or university, Under Armour has it all. In the women's section, you'll find 573 fitness items to choose from. For men's, you'll find 803. All of these are Under Armour brands. You can find gear specific to certain activities like training, golf, soccer, running, baseball, football, basketball, fishing, hunting, hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, and military tactical gear. So, no matter your sport, purpose, or fitness goal, you can find something that fits your style at Under Armour.
Prices from $12 to $400 for fitness clothing
The prices at Under Armour range from highly affordable to luxury. Menswear goes from $12 for a Men's UA Performance Training Bib to $400 for a Men's UA Storm ColdGear Infrared Down 3-in-1 Jacket. In women's, the clothing starts at $20 for Women's UA Golazo 3.0 Shorts and ranges up to $250 for the Women's UA Premier Full-Zip Hooded Sweater. If you're interested in your sporting favorites, here are the price ranges for some of the most popular items out there:
Free returns within 60 days
Returns at Under Armour are free within 60 days for anything purchased from the Under Armour website, from the brand house, and from the factory house store locations. You can easily start your return online. You just have to fill out a quick questionnaire including details about where you purchased your item. You'll also need your order number and the email that you used when you placed the order. After that, the return process is simple and is zero cost for you.
Solid score from the BBB and popular with colleges
Under Armour is one of the few companies in our review that has a solid rating with the Better Business Bureau. Currently, Under Armour holds an "A-” rating. While there have been over 200 complaints in the last three years, Under Armour is really good about addressing concerns from customers on the BBB. On some sites, like Trustpilot, the reviews aren't great. However, from other sites, we found customers raving about Under Armour, leaving 5-star reviews on 76% of all comments. The customers who love Under Armour praise the high quality of the fabrics. Many note that their Under Armour gear lasts for years and is strong enough to keep up with any fitness level. Customers also appreciate that Under Armour offers a wide range of fits and comfort levels. As a site with partnerships with many colleges, Under Armour provides plenty of options for sports fans and players alike.
Top pick and best one-stop shop
Under Armour is hands-down a standout retailer for fitness clothing. Whether you want casual activewear or something specific to your sport (like catcher gear for baseball), you can get everything you need at Under Armour. With extras like a longer-than-average return window (free of charge) and a full range of clothing for men and women, Under Armour comes in as the favorite fitness clothing brand on our list. With an "A-” rating from the BBB to back it up, Under Armour earns 5 stars and the top spot in our review.
Vuori is a fitness brand that is inspired by its hometown in coastal California. The company was founded in 2015 to offer athletic and athleisure clothing, and it now sells lifestyle apparel and more. Vuori's name means "mountain” in Finnish, reflecting founder Joe Kudla's love of mountain climbing and the environment. This love is integrated into the ethos of Vuori as the brand only uses tier 1 suppliers that follow the detailed Vuori Code of Conduct regarding fair labor treatment, healthy work conditions, and strict environmental requirements. If you're looking for a fitness clothing brand that promotes a better world, you'll love shopping at Vuori.
Clean site with helpful at-a-glance details
Vuori's site design is simple and uncomplicated. You can pick between styles for women and men, or browse the Vuori community tab. The landing page is clean and easy to read, focusing on new releases like the Qualify Run Short or "Must Haves” like the Kore Short for men. When you dive into the browsing window for either women or men, you'll find a ton of helpful filters to narrow the selection of fitness clothing. You can sort by gender, category, size, color, and activities including travel, yoga, training, running, tennis, golf, hiking, water sports, climbing, and more. Vuori also offers extra details on its listings. When you mouse over the photos, you'll see back and front shots of the clothing items, as well as what sizes are available for a particular item.
Over 1,700 fitness products at Vuori
Despite being a "smaller” brand, you won't feel like you're missing out when it comes to Vuori's selection of fitness items. In the women's section, you'll find 909 different items including accessories, socks, and some workout gear like yoga blocks or tennis racket covers. There are around 878 different items to choose from in men's. However, there is some overlap with the women's line with items like socks or sporting accessories (bags or yoga blocks, for example). There are 48 different types of leggings, 27 pairs of men's joggers, and 32 different sports bras at Vuori. All of the designs have a minimalist aesthetic popular with high-end brands.
Prices from $12 to $398
While most of the prices at Vuori are pretty high, you can find a few low-cost items too. The women's section starts at $12 for a pair of Vuori No Show Socks and goes up as high as $198 for the Sky Puffer Jacket. The men's section is similar, as some items like socks and accessories are shared across genders. So, the cheapest men's clothing item is also $12 for Vuori No Show Socks and the most expensive item is $398 for the Northmost Insulated Parka. Here are a few other price ranges for popular items that will help you browse:
Generous 120-day return policy
Vuori offers free shipping on orders $75+, and considering that many clothing items (like jackets) start around that price threshold, you'll easily be able to score free shipping with Vuori. As for returns, Vuori has an extremely generous 120-day return period for a refund to your original form of payment. Sale items can also be returned since Vuori offers an "Investment in Happiness” policy that covers items from their sales and promotions. Vuori also states that you're allowed to try out your gear, so you don't have to send it back in perfect condition, though shipping costs (if you have to pay them) are non-refundable.
Top rated from the BBB and a favorite with customers
Vuori stands out with its reputation as one of the few companies in our review that have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, Vuori is one of the more popular brands with customers. On one third-party review site, Vuori had an impressive 4.6-star rating. Customers praised the on-time delivery, and the quality of the fitness clothing, and customers generally agree that the items are worth the price. Further, Vuori seems to generate brand loyalty quickly, as many customers come back right away for more fitness clothes. On the other hand, there are a few customers on Trustpilot who don't like Vuori as much as on other review sites. Some customers complained about issues making returns, and one customer noted that their shirt "unraveled” in the wash. These seem to be exceptions, and not the norm, though.
Top pick among luxury fitness clothing brands
Because of the impressive quality, lengthy return period, and dedication to the environment, Vuori stands out as a favorite for high-end fitness clothing brands. It comes in as a close second to our top overall pick. It earns second rather than first place only due to some scattered concerns about returns and product quality. But since these are few and far between, Vuori remains one of our favorite brands to date. We definitely suggest you hop over and take a look if you're a fan of lux-y monochrome fitness gear. Whether you're looking for athleisure or workout gear, you'll be able to find something at Vuori, so it earns an excellent rating in our reviews for fitness clothing.
Sweaty Betty is a for-the-girls fitness clothing brand that got its start in 1998. Hailing from Notting Hill, England, Sweaty Betty started as a London boutique and has since grown into an international brand. Currently, the company offers a global web presence with 150 brick-and-mortar stores in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Asia. The company's goal is to empower women "through fitness and beyond,” and Sweaty Betty highlights the importance of comfort and versatility in its designs. The only drawback? Zero menswear at Sweaty Betty, but if you're one of the gals, you'll fit right in.
Colorful and helpful site design
Sweaty Betty offers an impressive website design that uses a mix of Sweaty Betty prints and clean white backgrounds. The landing page shows Sweaty Betty's newest releases like "Most-Wanted Styles Right Now” and a helpful side-scroll window where you can shop your preferred workout activity. You'll see options for running, general workouts, yoga, swim, and tennis. When you're ready to jump into shopping, you can use the top navigation bar to find new arrivals, clothing, and accessories right away. When you mouse over listings, you'll see all the available colors as well as two different angles for the clothing. However, the photo angles don't always show front and back. They're more like "action shots”, so you'll need to click on the listing to see a full view of each clothing item.
707 items in stock with fun and colorful prints
There's plenty of fitness clothing at Sweaty Betty, with one caveat: there aren't any designs specifically for guys. (Sorry, gents!) Across a selection of leggings, pants, shorts, skirts, jumpsuits, sports bras, and tops of every kind, you'll find 707 different styles and cuts to browse. One of the standout features of Sweaty Betty's selection is their unique application of prints. From shiny leopard spots to splatter paint or sleek "Zero Gravity” designs, Sweaty Betty offers a great place to be creative and upgrade your fitness clothing game. With 91 styles of leggings, 65 sweaters, and hoodies, and 54 sports bras, there's plenty to explore.
Prices from $16 to $398
Like many companies in our review, the prices depend on what you want to buy. Things like tanks, bikini bottoms, socks, and accessories come in under the $30 mark. On the other hand, if you're looking for a fitness-styled coat or beachside cover-ups, you might be looking at dropping around $200. For example, the cheapest item at Sweaty Betty is the Harper Strappy Tank which costs $16. On the high end, you'll find the Navigate Longline Coat which was about to release for the upcoming fashion season at $398. Generally, Sweaty Betty is a little pricier than your average large manufacturer. Here's what some of your other favorite fitness clothing items might cost:
45-day return policy
For shipping and returns, the policies are pretty average. Sweaty Betty offers free shipping on orders $75+. Any items that cost under $75 will incur a $10 shipping fee. If you need to make a return, you have 45 days, and swimwear can be returned as long as the hygiene sticker is still in place. All Sweaty Betty items must still have their tags attached along with proof of purchase in the shipment. Return shipping is free for all US orders.
Rave reviews from customers on Trustpilot
Like many of the fitness brands in our review, Sweaty Betty has a disappointing "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. However, with only 12 complaints in the last three years, it's doing a lot better than most of its competitors. Fortunately, on third-party review sites like Trustpilot, Sweaty Betty is earning tons of praise. Sweaty Betty holds a 4.3-star average out of 5 across 14,791 different reviews, and 85% of all reviews were scored at 5 stars. In almost every review, there's a note about the high-quality customer service and problem-solving offered by Sweaty Betty. Customers often list particular customer service reps in reviews. Others praise the high quality of the clothing, including fit and fabric choices being ideal for different body types.
A top pick for ladies' fitness clothing
Sweaty Betty is a standout retailer. While the prices are a little higher than large manufacturers, the quality is worth the price. Plus, with rave reviews from over 10,000 customers on Trustpilot, it's clear that Sweaty Betty is a place you can trust to solve problems in the event something does come up with your order. This girls-only fitness brand is knocking it out of the park. While it is a letdown for the boys, we highly recommend you check out Sweaty Betty on your next fitness clothing shopping spree.
Reebok is an American fitness brand that offers shoes and clothing. Part of the Authentic Brands Group, Reebok got its start in England in 1958. The brand used to feature the flag of the United Kingdom in its logo. Later, it was purchased by the German sporting brand Adidas in 2005 before it was sold to the Authentic Brands Group in 2021. Reebok is known for fitness, running, and crossfit sportswear.
Easy browsing with fun colors
Reebok has a site that's easy to use and fun to browse. Unlike many of its online competitors, Reebok uses more colors in its site design, helping to visually differentiate between different areas and pages. The landing page offers quick looks at new releases like the Reebok back-to-school line, popular shoe styles, and more. If you know what you want to browse, you can easily find fitness clothing from the top navigation bar. There are browsing options for men, women, children, new releases, and Reebok's specialty items under Reebok LTD. Once you start browsing the clothing of your choice, you'll find plenty of filters to help you, like discount, category, size, gender, color, activity, and more. There aren't a lot of at-a-glance details on the listing photos, but you do get a back and front view of each item when you mouse over it. For sizing and colors, you'll need to click through the listing and read more.
Over 1,400 fitness clothing items
There are plenty of items to choose from at Reebok. The site, sadly, doesn't list the number of items in stock, but during our research, we estimated there were around 800 items for women and around 600 fitness clothing items for men. You'll find gear for various activities like basketball, tennis, running, swim, gym training, general lifestyle, and dance. You can also find some fun collabs at Reebok. At the time of our review, Reebok had a collaboration with NASA, offering jackets, joggers, and more with the NASA logo.
Prices from $14.97 to $250
The prices at Reebok are highly competitive. Many of the items at Reebok are on sale, so you're likely to find something you love at a steal. The women's pricing starts at $14.97 for the Training Essentials Vector Graphic Tee and goes up to $250 for the Reebox X ANNIE BING Windbreaker Jacket. In the men's department, the prices range from $14.97 for the Reebok Identity Classics T-Shirt to $250 for the Classics Jacket. Across the other popular items, here are the prices we found:
30-day return policy
The return policy at Reebok has some slight differences depending on if you make your purchase as a "guest” or as a Reebok member. The membership is free; it's just a difference between signing up for emails or just buying without completing that step. If you're not a member, you need to have your order number handy and the email you used during purchase. If you have an account, all of the purchase details will be saved on your profile, simplifying the return process. For either method, you have 30 days to make returns at Reebok. The items must be unworn, unwashed, and still have the tags attached. All pieces of the packaging need to be present to qualify for a full refund.
Solid score with the BBB
Reebok stands out from the pack due to its reputation with the Better Business Bureau. Currently, Reebok holds an "A+” rating from the BBB. Reebok is one of the very few fitness clothing brands on our list to hold such a high rating. However, Reebok isn't highly reviewed on Trustpilot and Sitejabber. Between the two sites, there were under 2,000 total reviews. While the news isn't good, with a 1.5-star average on Trustpilot and a 1.9-star average on Sitejabber, this may not reflect the full range of opinions from Reebok shoppers. Many of the blog reviews for Reebok are very positive. However, a high volume of blog reviews focus entirely on Reebok shoes rather than the entire clothing brand.
A positive standing for Reebok
Reebok stands out for its lower-than-average pricing as well as a competitive range of styles and fitness clothing items. You can find items for nearly every sport, and with an "A+” rating from the BBB to back up Reebok's business, it's a place you can trust. While some customers left complaints on Trustpilot and Sitejabber, these don't reflect the full customer base of Reebok. Given the positives, Reebok's fitness clothing comes in a high rating in our review.
Gym Shark got its start in 2012 from Ben Francis' garage in Birmingham, UK. Known as one of the first fitness clothing lines to really utilize influencer marketing, Gym Shark's success is a true inspiration. The company started with hand-sewn athletic wear and today it has a following of over 10 million users online and sells its unique clothing in most countries around the world. Whether you spotted Gym Shark in your favorite influencer's reel or you just like the snazzy shark logo for your next pump cover, Gym Shark is a fan favorite (literally) on YouTube and TikTok alike.
Clean and body-positive site
Gym Shark has a clean website with just black and white for the background design. Pops of color appear in the high-res photos and videos displaying Gym Shark's fitness clothing. One of our favorite features of Gym Shark is that they choose real athletes to use in their campaigns. And, there's no retouching. So, the photos and videos feel more authentic than at many other sites. The landing page offers the most popular items and new releases for you to browse, so if you want what the fitness influencers are wearing these days, make sure you take a look at the "Popular Right Now” section.
Go right to what you want
If you know what you want, you can easily navigate to women's or men's fitness clothing from the top menu. Gym Shark doesn't separate its clothing by sport, just general fitness. Its filters offer activities like Rest Day, Conditioning, Lifting, and Hybrid. We do love the at-a-glance details while browsing, though. When you mouse over a listing, you'll see back and front views of the clothing, and, if you drag your mouse to the bottom of the listing, you can see what sizes are available in that item without needing to click on it. Any sizes that are out of stock will appear gray.
Almost 3,000 items to choose from
Don't let the home-grown background at Gym Shark fool you; there are plenty of fitness clothing items to choose from. The women's section offers 1,736 different products while the men's section includes 1,261. To further break down the items for you, we found 145 pairs of women's leggings, 235 sports bras, 84 pairs of men's joggers, and 163 hoodies and jackets across both genders. You can also expect to find over 300 accessories like socks, lifting straps, backpacks, water bottles, and more.
Prices from $6 to $170
For an influencer-based brand, Gym Shark is surprisingly affordable. While some of the items reflect the high-quality fabric and unique designs in the price, you can find plenty of gear at Gym Shark that won't break the bank. Women's clothing starts at $6 for a Seamless Thong and goes up to $170 for a Lever Lifting Belt. On the men's side, you can find a Vital T-Shirt for $6. The most expensive men's item is also the Lever Lifting Belt for $170. In terms of more clothing-like items than a lifting belt, the most expensive wearable in women's is the Everywhere Light Cropped Jacket for $90. For men, it's the GS X David Laid Cargo Pants for $110. So you can get a better picture of all pricing, here are some fitness clothing favorites:
30-day return policy
Gym Shark offers a 30-day return policy for any online purchases. You need to return items in their original packaging and condition. Certain items, like underwear or items on sale at 60% off or more are considered final sale, so you won't be able to return those. While the policy states that items need to be unworn and unused to return, you can try items on before making a decision. We've made returns to Gym Shark before, and the process was incredibly smooth and customer-friendly.
Mixed reviews but praise for high-quality
Sadly, despite having tons of fans on social media, Gym Shark isn't a favorite with the Better Business Bureau. According to the BBB, Gym Shark holds an "F” rating. This is due to 41 customer complaints registered on the BBB, and many of them remain unanswered. The news is a little better on other third-party review sites. Trustpilot shows that Gym Shark has a near 4-star average rating where 75% of customers gave Gym Shark 5 stars. In general, customers praise the high quality of the clothing. The fabric is thick and luxurious and doesn't often have problems with wear. However, there are some complaints about items being out of stock; since Gym Shark is a "small business” compared to major manufacturers, they do have to work harder to keep up with demand.
Worth a look, but needs better ratings
At the end of the day, Gym Shark has a lot to recommend it. As a newer brand, it's highly popular with influencers. Customers who loved their purchases praised the quality of fabric. But with no sport-specific wear, it might be a little bit of a letdown for some customers looking for baseball or basketball clothing. Further, the "F” rating keeps Gym Shark from being one of our top-rated fitness clothing companies. However, we still highly recommend you check it out. The designs are cute and the fabric really is to die for, but until Gym Shark works on its customer rep with the BBB, it only gets a respectable rating from us.
Known for its activewear subscription plan, Fabletics is one of the newer sites in our review. The company got its start in 2014 when Fabletics opened to offer a fusion of fashion and activewear. Currently, Fabletics has millions of members and 95+ brick-and-mortar stores. Fabletics offers high-performance fabrics with fun colors and prints, and promises accessible pricing to boot. On top of that, you can expect to find trendy collaborations with stars and influencers like Khloe Kardashian, Kevin Hart, and Lizzo.
Complete your free membership to browse
Fabletics offers an at-a-glance site design that shows you its best sellers, seasonal essentials, and popular styles all on the front page. The trends at the time of our review included flared leggings, mauve colors, and "cloud jersey” fabrics. The only odd part is, no matter where you click, you'll end up at the style quiz which is the way to get started on the Fabletics activewear membership (the free version). The quiz consists of 5 questions that cover your style preferences, sizing, your birthday, and your zip code. Once you sign up (at the end of the quiz) with an email, you can finally start browsing Fabletics. From here, you'll see recommended picks for you based on your quiz options. However, the filters are somewhat limited, only allowing you to narrow the styles by size, color, and activity. When browsing fitness clothing, you can see colors at a glance as well as the front and back views of the clothing when you mouse over individual listings.
Many items are out of stock
Fabletics doesn't list how many items it has in men's, women's, or any other category while browsing. During our research, we counted 615 different items in the women's styles and 645 styles for men. Some of these were out of stock, so you may also have some trouble finding in-stock items. You can expect to find clothing across sports like golf, running, swimming, tennis, and yoga at Fabletics.
Prices from $12.95 to $234.75
The prices at Fabletics are low, but this is highly dependent on flash sales and deals through their VIP program. If you're just a standard member, you can expect to find prices from $12.95 for a No Show Thong up to $129.95 for an Essential Puffer in the women's department. For men, prices range from $12.95 for a pair of Everyday Ankle Socks up to $234.75 for a 24-7 5-Piece Bundle of shirts. There are also frequent deals like $10 shorts or 2 for $24 Bottoms (for VIPs), which were both running at the time of our review. To break down the pricing, here are some additional items you can find at the non-member prices:
VIP membership is a little misleading
The VIP Membership is part of Fabletics' main concept. The membership can score you some serious savings. Otherwise, you'll end up paying the non-member prices (which are the ones without the sales). It's a little misleading when you're just browsing. But if you see sale prices, double-check the item when you click on it. You'll see two add-to-cart options. The first is the VIP membership, which will charge you the membership cost (if you're new) on top of the reduced price for your item (or items). The other is a non-member cost which is the highest cost for the item. For example, a pair of leggings which is $89.95 for non-members is $17.98 for members. If you want to sign up as a VIP, you'd pay the $59.95 per month membership fee on top of the $17.98. Then, you'll have access to all VIP prices as long as you're a member.
90-day returns for unused items
Fabletics' shipping fees depend on how much you buy. For standard orders over $49.95, shipping is free in the U.S. and Canada. Orders under $49.95 cost $5.94 for shipping. As for returns, Fabletics partners with Happy Returns by PayPal. Returns and exchanges are accepted within 90 days of the original ship date and will be accepted only if items are in new and unused condition in the original packaging.
Mixed reviews with frustrations on sales
Despite some complaints about out-of-stock items, Fabletics has a solid standing with the Better Business Bureau. Currently, Fabletics holds an "A+” rating and accreditation from the BBB. At third-party review sites, the feedback is about average. At Trustpilot, Fabletics shows a 3.9-star average, and at Sitejabber the site holds a more mid-tier 3.2-star average. In general, customers like the quality of the items they get from Fabletics, but they feel that the sales practices are misleading. Customers are frustrated by the VIP-only sales, and they complain about issues with accessing sales as a VIP. Some sales end before the listed date and others can't be used even with a correct code.
Best for shoppers who want new gear all the time
Due to some of the issues with accessing sale prices and the confusion of the VIP membership, Fabletics does not rank as high as it could. You won't be getting any name-brand activewear here, and if you want to actually enjoy the sale prices, you'll need to pay a $59.95 per month fee for the VIP membership. So, unless you're looking to buy tons of activewear every month, this may not be the best option for you. Given those drawbacks, Fabletics gets a mid-tier rating in our review.
Nike is one of the largest and most recognized brands for fitness clothing in the world. The extensive lineup includes popular items like the Air Jordan line, Air Force 1, and Converse shoes. Nike was founded in 1964 as "Blue Ribbon Sports,” and did not earn its popular name, Nike, until 1971. You'll find an impressive focus on sports at Nike including special lines for golf, skateboarding, and basketball. In 2024, Nike was selected to present the Nike On Air experience at the Paris Olympics and provided national and federation kits for athletes.
Designed to appeal to athletes
Nike is all about real athletes and real sports. The landing page is filled with editorial photos focusing on athletes in basketball, running, gym workouts, and athleisure. The landing page also features new collections like the Nike back-to-school designs. If you want to shop for something specific, you can use the top navigation bar that offers "New & Featured” items, as well as selections for men, women, kids, the Jordan lines, and sale items. Once you start browsing, you'll find tons of filters to help you narrow your options. You can shop by gender, color, price, size, brand, collections, sport, and sale prices. Oddly, the photos for listings are static at Nike. So, when you mouse over clothing as you browse, you won't see alternate views of the items. You can mouse through different colors, but to see different angles on your favorite fitness gear, you'll need to click on the item and view it in more detail.
Over 10,000 different fitness clothing options
Nike is a huge manufacturer and it has an inventory to back up its reputation. The men's section includes 6,018 different types of fitness clothing while the women's section includes 2,175 different items. You'll find clothing for a full range of sports including running, soccer, gym, yoga, basketball, baseball, golf, skateboarding, tennis, track and field, football, and more. To break down the numbers a little, we found 54 sports bras, 64 fitness dresses or skirts, 203 hoodies for men, and 85 men's tracksuits.
Prices from $11.97 to $800
The prices at Nike depend on what you're looking for. You can shop budget-friendly options, but a lot of their techwear and Jordan line is pretty pricey. The women's clothing ranges from $11.97 for Nike Everyday Plus Cushioned Ankle Socks to $600 for the Nike ISPA Metamorph Poncho. The men have the same lowest cost for the men's version of the Cushioned Ankle Socks at $11.07, but the highest-priced item is the Nike Every Stitch Considered Men's Work Jacket Shell for $800. Here are some other favorite items and their prices to help you see a bigger picture:
Returns within 60 days and free for Nike members
Nike's return policy is more generous than the average policies we've seen in the industry. You get 60 days to try out your Nike purchase before you need to decide to return it. You can make returns online or in-store. All you need to qualify for your refund is proof of purchase. If you have a Nike Membership, there is no shipping fee for sending back returns.
Not popular with reviewers due to quality issues
Like many large companies in our review, Nike doesn't have stellar ratings from the Better Business Bureau. Currently, Nike holds an "F” rating from the BBB as well as 1,383 complaints in the last three years. On the bright side, Nike responds to or resolves most of the complaints on the BBB. Sadly, from other third-party websites, the news isn't great either. Nike has a 2-star average from Sitejabber and a 1.7-star average on Trustpilot. In general, customers have trouble using sales and coupon codes when shopping online. Further, there were a lot of complaints about the quality, and many customers noted that they needed to make returns. While some customers praised Nike's live chat, most struggled to get a hold of customer service.
Nike isn't "just doing it” at the moment
Nike is popular and clearly a world leader as a main brand for the 2024 Olympics, but there are some red flags to keep in mind. If you're a fan of Air Jordans, this is going to be the site for you, no matter what. But, if you're looking for a brand that really serves customers, you might be disappointed by Nike. Due to the poor reviews, Nike receives a middle-range rating in our review of fitness clothing retailers. It could do some extra work to help its everyday customers have a top-notch experience (not just Olympians).
One of the newest sites in our review, The Sports Edit opened in 2015. Like a few other retailers out there, The Sports Edit also got its start in a cold garage, but this time in London, England where four people worked together to create unique and high-quality sportswear. Now, Marks and Spencer has a majority stake in The Sports Edit, launching it as a popular brand online. As one of the few sites in this review that offers multiple brands, you can find a range of different styles, manufacturers, and designs at The Sports Edit that you won't find anywhere else.
Lux-y feel for this website
The site has a high-end minimalist design that stands out in the market. You can find key collections like "Summer Sale” or "New In” on the landing page as well as a list of featured brands. You'll see fitness faves like HOKA, Girlfriend Collective, On Running, Sweaty Betty, Nike, Puma, and Reebok. Plus, if you're looking to keep your finger on the pulse of fashion, you can find curated articles at the bottom of the landing page that focus on fitness and fashion alike. As we researched deeper into the site, it became clear that The Sports Edit is a women's-only retailer. So, once again, gents might need to shop elsewhere. When you jump into browsing, you'll find plenty of filters to help you narrow the fitness clothing at The Sports Edit. You'll be able to pick from size, brand, color, style, activity, price, and more. Listings show a back and front view of the clothing when you mouse over them, as well as little dots to show how many color options there are for each item.
1,052 different clothing items for ladies
Keep in mind, this is a women's-only site, so you won't find any menswear at The Sports Edit, but there are plenty of fitness clothing options for ladies. There are 1,052 different clothing items to choose from. This breaks down into 72 styles of jackets, 455 different tops, 380 bottoms and leggings, and 145 styles of sports bras across different brands.
Prices from $14 to $314.75
The prices at The Sports Edit are on the high end. The site gives the appearance of luxury, and the prices are on board with that. While you may be able to find some lower-cost items by searching brands like Reebok on The Sports Edit, the general price range is higher than other sites. For example, the cheapest item at The Sports Edit is $14 for a Goodmove Scoop Neck Racer Back Vest Top, and the most expensive item is $314.75 for a Sweaty Betty Winter Stride Waterproof Parka. As for your favorite items, here are the general price ranges at The Sports Edit:
Returns for $10 within 30 days
The Sports Edit promises "Fast, Trackable, No Quibble Returns” in their stated policy. This means you get 30 days to return your fitness clothing from the day you receive it. The returns in the US will cost a $10 shipping fee, and the return slip will be generated directly from The Sports Edit. You'll also need to make sure the items are not damaged, dirty, or show any signs of wear and tear. Make sure you have the original label when you make your return to qualify for your full refund.
Mixed reviews, but some serious concerns about returns
As one of the newest sites on the market, we're not surprised that there aren't many reviews out there for The Sports Edit. Currently, there isn't a page on the Better Business Bureau for this retailer. The only reviews we could find are on Trustpilot which scores The Sports Edit at 2.6 stars out of 5. In general, shoppers are frustrated that they can't get any response from customer service. Other customers say that the wait for refunds can take weeks with no word from The Sports Edit. On the other hand, there are some 5-star reviews too. Customers who enjoyed shopping at The Sports Edit praised the bargain price for certain items when compared to other sites.
They need to "edit” their customer service
In general, The Sports Edit offers a competitive one-stop shop for a bunch of brands in one place. However, with a $10 return fee for US customers and significant issues with those returns, we're a little wary about recommending that you shop with The Sports Edit. Sadly, customers are saying they aren't able to process returns, and with plenty of other sites out there that have more robust customer service and better return policies, The Sports Edit just isn't as competitive as it could be.
Adidas is a brand with a long history. In 2024, the company celebrated its 75th anniversary. The company got its start in a small town in Bavaria, Germany with Adi Dassler and his brother (get it? Adi Das?). Adidas was created to support athletes with top equipment for their sports. Athletes wearing Adidas gear were winning gold medals as early as 1928. Adidas is known as the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and it is one of the top two manufacturers worldwide. Currently, Adidas is headquartered in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and it sells a range of sporting gear for all sports but with special attention to soccer, basketball, swim, tennis, and golf.
Great site with a shopping memory
The Adidas landing page is easy to navigate, and if you've ever shopped at Adidas before, the site will show you items you were previously browsing. So, if you ever lose your place, don't worry, Adidas is there to help. The site is organized in scrolling windows that go up and down as well as left to right. Highlighted edits like "Back to School” gear or "New Arrivals” appear on the main page. If you want to find something specific, you can easily use the top navigation bar to search through men's, women's, and children's fitness clothing. When you get to browsing, you can find tons of helpful filters like price, size, color, length, rise, style, and more. You can mouse over individual listings to see front and back views of the items as well as photos of different colors. Adidas also allows you to "heart” items you love, and if you have an account on Adidas, you can come back and browse those favorites later.
Over 3,000 items across men's and women's clothes
The selection of fitness clothing at Adidas is impressive. In the men's section, you can expect to find 1,927 items in the general "clothing” shopping tab. For women's, you'll find 1,595 items. These range from track pants, terry-cloth pants, and leggings, to t-shirts, shorts, dresses, and plus-size items. To break it down for you, we found 157 items in women's leggings and tights (including tight shorts), 227 items in men's hoodies and sweatshirts, and 68 different sports bras available at Adidas. These options frequently change with the seasons, so you'll want to
Prices from $8 to $600
The prices at Adidas are generally affordable, but depending on what you buy, you might be putting down some serious cash. Across all women's clothing on Adidas, the prices ranged from $9 for a pair of Pacer 3-Stripe Knit Shorts to $600 for a Y-3 Team Jacket. On the men's side, you'll find prices from $8 for an Essentials Big Logo Tee to $450 for a Y-3 Graphic Knit Cardigan. Here are some other popular items and their price ranges to help you browse:
Return within 30 days
Adidas offers an average return policy. You can return your fitness clothes within 30 days of receiving your order. You can also return something to one of their local brick-and-mortar locations. Adidas requires that everything is in "good” condition and you should keep all tags on the clothing and return them in the original packaging. You can get a full refund to your original payment method or a store gift card (your choice). The only situations where you can't make returns are for Yeezy shoes or items bought on the Confirmed app in-store.
Customers aren't receiving purchased items
Unfortunately, despite being one of the top two fitness clothing manufacturers in the world, Adidas doesn't have a great reputation. According to the Better Business Bureau, Adidas holds an "F” rating due to a high volume of complaints. In the last three years, Adidas has garnered 1,533 complaints and holds a 1-star average from the BBB. The news isn't much better on third-party review sites like Sitejabber and Trustpilot. Sitejabber shows a 1.6-star average for Adidas while Trustpilot shows a 1.5-star average rating. Customers are complaining about missing items and extra charges, and many shoppers who ordered things online never actually received their items. Other customers complained that when their items arrived, they were in extremely poor or used condition.
Too much hassle to order online
While you might be able to find some deals from Adidas, it isn't a great idea to shop with them online. Due to the high volume of terrible reviews, it's clear that online shopping with Adidas isn't the best move. You may still enjoy buying directly from one of Adidas' brick-and-mortar locations, but won't find as many options in person as you might online. Regrettably, this puts Adidas much further down the ratings than expected for a top fitness clothing manufacturer.
Lululemon, known as Lulus by shoppers, was founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1998. Chip Wilson started the company after taking a yoga class himself and realizing that stylish and breathable fitness clothing was hard for ladies to find. When he started the company, his goal was to make athletic clothes for women that were high-quality and dependable, and the company now offers menswear too. The first storefront opened in 2000, and now there are over 710 stores for Lululemon around the world.
Clean and minimal site
Lululemon's site is designed to be minimal and easy to browse. The color scheme is simple with white, black, and pops of red. The landing page highlights the new arrivals for the season like "Back to School” clothing for men and women or "Top Looks”. If you know what you're looking for, you can use the top navigation bar to find your fitness clothing. You can choose from men's or women's as well as activities like running, tennis, golf, yoga, general workout, and casual. Once you start browsing your favorite section, you can find filters like category of clothing, type, size, height, inseam, rise, fit, color, collection, and an expanded list of activities. Oddly, Lululemon's listings show the clothing in two different ways. Some items (like the Lululemon Energy Longline Bra) show back and front images when you mouse over them. Other items (like the Hotty Hot Low Rise Lined Short) only show two front photos with one more zoomed in than the other. All listings allow you to view different colors at a glance (including photos for each color) without needing to click on the listing itself.
Smaller, more focused selection
There are slightly fewer total options at Lululemon than at other companies. But there are still plenty of styles to choose from. The women's department offers 875 different types of fitness clothing. The men's section is a little smaller. It offers 543 different styles. To break it down further, you'll find 107 types of leggings, 43 styles in women's sweatpants, 15 different hoodies for men, and 34 pairs of 5 Pocket Pants for men.
Prices from $14 to $498
The one place that hurts a little at Lululemon is the price. If you're looking for discount or budget-friendly, this luxury-focused brand won't be ideal for you. But, if you don't mind shelling out for your Lulu Align Leggings, you'll be joining one of many fans of the brand. You just might need to save up if you want a full Lululemon outfit. The cheapest option for women is the Wundermost Ultra-Soft Mid-Rise Bikini Underwear for $14. The most expensive item for women is the Wunder Puff Long Jacket for $398. In the men's department, prices are similar with the least expensive item being a pair of Team Canada Power Stride Crew Socks for $14. The most expensive men's item is the StrechSeal Down-Filled Parka for $498. Here are some other fan-favorite items and their price ranges for you:
Free returns within 30 days
Returns at Lululemon are simple and free, which is a huge relief. If you pay $90 for leggings, you want to be able to return them if they're not perfect. When you order online, you can return by shipping or at a local Lululemon store. You'll need proof of your original payment (receipt) with your return. Items must be unworn and unwashed with the tags still attached to quality for a full return. However, all returns are handled on a "case-by-case” basis, according to Lululemon, so your return may still be rejected depending on what the company decides.
Extremely poor ratings and horrible customer service
Lululemon isn't particularly popular with review sites. According to the Better Business Bureau, Lululemon has an "F” rating due to a pattern of complaints for poor products or items that are not up to the standard advertised by Lululemon. There were 462 complaints registered with the BBB in the last three years. Outside of the BBB, the news still isn't great. Lululemon has a 1.3-star average from Sitejabber and a 1.6-star average from Trustpilot. Customers complain about a variety of issues with Lululemon, including poor customer service, missing items that show they were "delivered” but never arrived, and poor quality items compared to previous purchases. One reviewer said he was "delulu about Lululemon” as he trusted the brand's quality but immediately found his clothes deteriorating in the wash.
Not worth your money
We're here to help you from being "delulu about Lulus” so, you may want to keep away from this fitness clothing brand for now. Sadly, the company has high prices and a lot of quality and customer service issues. While the free return policy is nice, it sounds like customers are having a lot of trouble actually getting their returns completed. While Lululemon is seen as a status symbol, the way it's going right now it might not be true anymore. Keep your hard-earned money and pick a higher-rated fitness brand instead.
Lucky for you, shopping for fitness clothing online is a breeze. With the recent craze for athleisure, almost every brand is making fitness-style clothing in a dazzling array of colors, cuts, and styles. Whether you like sparkly leggings for your lifting day, a sporty fit with black and silver for your next run, or something breathable for your yoga class, there are tons of fitness clothing brands out there waiting to be discovered.
You can find specialized heat-tech insulated items for cold winter workouts and barely-there seamless styles that don't chafe when you hit the Stairmaster. Whether you're a Gym Shark fan or a Lululemon girlie, there's something out there to suit your fancy.
Fitness clothing is usually separated into men's and women's, and there are different options based on your chosen workout or sport. But don't worry, if you see something you like in the "Tennis” section, but you're only heading to your in-home gym, don't sweat it. While styles can be specialized for function, anybody can enjoy fitness gear. Dancers wear basketball shorts to class, and weightlifters can wear full tracksuits. Nothing's stopping you but your own sense of style. And what better way to get pumped for your workout than a great new "fit”?
Now, as you start browsing different retailers, you might find they have a brand "feel” or design. Many fitness clothing sites sell their own brands or partnered brands only. So, if you're looking for a wide selection, you might need to shop around. However, there are a few retailers out there that offer multiple brands in one place. So, whether you're a brand loyalist who has to have her new Align Leggings or a fitness newbie who's just looking for some starter gear, make sure you find the best brand or store for your journey.
With so many places to get fitness clothing, how do you know where to start? Don't worry - we've done the heavy lifting for you. If you're not sure where to begin narrowing the field from our favorites, here are a few factors you might consider while shopping:
