One of the newest sites in our review, The Sports Edit opened in 2015. Like a few other retailers out there, The Sports Edit also got its start in a cold garage, but this time in London, England where four people worked together to create unique and high-quality sportswear. Now, Marks and Spencer has a majority stake in The Sports Edit, launching it as a popular brand online. As one of the few sites in this review that offers multiple brands, you can find a range of different styles, manufacturers, and designs at The Sports Edit that you won't find anywhere else.
Lux-y feel for this website
The site has a high-end minimalist design that stands out in the market. You can find key collections like "Summer Sale” or "New In” on the landing page as well as a list of featured brands. You'll see fitness faves like HOKA, Girlfriend Collective, On Running, Sweaty Betty, Nike, Puma, and Reebok. Plus, if you're looking to keep your finger on the pulse of fashion, you can find curated articles at the bottom of the landing page that focus on fitness and fashion alike. As we researched deeper into the site, it became clear that The Sports Edit is a women's-only retailer. So, once again, gents might need to shop elsewhere. When you jump into browsing, you'll find plenty of filters to help you narrow the fitness clothing at The Sports Edit. You'll be able to pick from size, brand, color, style, activity, price, and more. Listings show a back and front view of the clothing when you mouse over them, as well as little dots to show how many color options there are for each item.
1,052 different clothing items for ladies
Keep in mind, this is a women's-only site, so you won't find any menswear at The Sports Edit, but there are plenty of fitness clothing options for ladies. There are 1,052 different clothing items to choose from. This breaks down into 72 styles of jackets, 455 different tops, 380 bottoms and leggings, and 145 styles of sports bras across different brands.
Prices from $14 to $314.75
The prices at The Sports Edit are on the high end. The site gives the appearance of luxury, and the prices are on board with that. While you may be able to find some lower-cost items by searching brands like Reebok on The Sports Edit, the general price range is higher than other sites. For example, the cheapest item at The Sports Edit is $14 for a Goodmove Scoop Neck Racer Back Vest Top, and the most expensive item is $314.75 for a Sweaty Betty Winter Stride Waterproof Parka. As for your favorite items, here are the general price ranges at The Sports Edit:
Returns for $10 within 30 days
The Sports Edit promises "Fast, Trackable, No Quibble Returns” in their stated policy. This means you get 30 days to return your fitness clothing from the day you receive it. The returns in the US will cost a $10 shipping fee, and the return slip will be generated directly from The Sports Edit. You'll also need to make sure the items are not damaged, dirty, or show any signs of wear and tear. Make sure you have the original label when you make your return to qualify for your full refund.
Mixed reviews, but some serious concerns about returns
As one of the newest sites on the market, we're not surprised that there aren't many reviews out there for The Sports Edit. Currently, there isn't a page on the Better Business Bureau for this retailer. The only reviews we could find are on Trustpilot which scores The Sports Edit at 2.6 stars out of 5. In general, shoppers are frustrated that they can't get any response from customer service. Other customers say that the wait for refunds can take weeks with no word from The Sports Edit. On the other hand, there are some 5-star reviews too. Customers who enjoyed shopping at The Sports Edit praised the bargain price for certain items when compared to other sites.
They need to "edit” their customer service
In general, The Sports Edit offers a competitive one-stop shop for a bunch of brands in one place. However, with a $10 return fee for US customers and significant issues with those returns, we're a little wary about recommending that you shop with The Sports Edit. Sadly, customers are saying they aren't able to process returns, and with plenty of other sites out there that have more robust customer service and better return policies, The Sports Edit just isn't as competitive as it could be.
Whether you're a gym rat who loves pumping iron, a dancer who needs clothing that moves with his body, a runner looking for full support, or a Pilates momma hoping for that perfect legging contour, finding the right fitness clothing can be a difficult task. There are so many brands, so many sports, and so many sizes that finding the perfect fit can take some serious trial and error.
There are tons of reasons you might need new gear. Maybe you've caked up those glutes and need a better fit. Maybe your old running shoes are running right out of tread. Or maybe you've just watched too many fitness gear hauls on TikTok (guilty as charged!). Whatever your reason, there are plenty of places to get new fitness clothing.
Lucky for you, shopping for fitness clothing online is a breeze. With the recent craze for athleisure, almost every brand is making fitness-style clothing in a dazzling array of colors, cuts, and styles. Whether you like sparkly leggings for your lifting day, a sporty fit with black and silver for your next run, or something breathable for your yoga class, there are tons of fitness clothing brands out there waiting to be discovered.
You can find specialized heat-tech insulated items for cold winter workouts and barely-there seamless styles that don't chafe when you hit the Stairmaster. Whether you're a Gym Shark fan or a Lululemon girlie, there's something out there to suit your fancy.
Fitness clothing is usually separated into men's and women's, and there are different options based on your chosen workout or sport. But don't worry, if you see something you like in the "Tennis” section, but you're only heading to your in-home gym, don't sweat it. While styles can be specialized for function, anybody can enjoy fitness gear. Dancers wear basketball shorts to class, and weightlifters can wear full tracksuits. Nothing's stopping you but your own sense of style. And what better way to get pumped for your workout than a great new "fit”?
Now, as you start browsing different retailers, you might find they have a brand "feel” or design. Many fitness clothing sites sell their own brands or partnered brands only. So, if you're looking for a wide selection, you might need to shop around. However, there are a few retailers out there that offer multiple brands in one place. So, whether you're a brand loyalist who has to have her new Align Leggings or a fitness newbie who's just looking for some starter gear, make sure you find the best brand or store for your journey.
With so many places to get fitness clothing, how do you know where to start? Don't worry - we've done the heavy lifting for you. If you're not sure where to begin narrowing the field from our favorites, here are a few factors you might consider while shopping:
