Send Smiles is one of the newest florists on our list of flower club providers, but they're no stranger to the business. The CEO of the company is a third-generation florist, with the business' origins dating all the way back to 1910 on a NYC street corner. Today, Send Smiles works with carefully-selected, Rainforest Alliance Certified farms in Colombia and Ecuador, making sure that farm employees get medical care, housing assistance, food, day care, and transportation.
Four available bouquet sizes
But, since you're not here for Send Smiles' one-off bouquets, let's jump right into their flower club options. It made us smile to see that they start you off with what matters most to a lot of people: the price point. They don't offer much detail about what you'll get with each tier - $65 for the Classic, $85 for the Deluxe, $100 for the Premium, and $125 for the Luxury - but at least the shipping is included in those prices.
What's with the $10 fee?
Although Send Smiles proudly says there are no hidden fees, there was a charge that popped up during the checkout process that we weren't sure about: when we went to select a delivery time, we were given a 12-hour window... with an associated fee of $10. We weren't given the ability to select anything else or to say "deliver whenever” - so while it's true that it's not a "hidden” fee, it's still an unexpected one.
See all your delivery dates when you subscribe
As you proceed through the order process, you'll select the first date you want flowers to arrive, as well as how often you'd like them to be delivered (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly). Send Smiles lets you set up your flower club for one, three, or six months at a time - and we appreciate that, once you've done all that, they show you a list of all of the scheduled delivery dates for your entire subscription. Keep in mind that you're paying in full for the entire term of your flower club here, if that might impact how long you decide to subscribe (you can always restart your subscription after a short-term commitment if you wind up loving what Send Smiles delivers).
Gift-giving isn't a strong point here
Gift-giving features are a little light with Send Smiles. You can enter an optional gift note, but there's no way to have a notification sent via email or to let your recipient have any control over the plan (like rescheduling deliveries). We also didn't see any add-ons during the process, like the candy or balloons that a few flower clubs on our list provide. That's not a big drawback, but it's worth a mention.
Earns high marks from customers
Fortunately, when it comes to customer satisfaction, Send Smiles is a winner. Not only does this florist have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but they also have no complaints filed there. Compared with some competitor flower clubs with complaints in the thousands, that's a breath of fresh air. Moving on to the retailer's ratings on Yelp and other places, almost everyone loves their Send Smiles arrangements. There's tons of praise for the value and quality of the bouquets, and even more for the attentiveness of the company's customer service team. It's clear that Send Smiles genuinely wants to deliver happiness with every bouquet.
Above average with a little room for improvement
Send Smiles is a solid option among florists offering flower clubs. The bouquets you get will almost certainly beat your expectations, and we're confident that the Send Smiles team will be helpful and responsive if for any reason that's not the case. We'd need to see a lot more detail about the different pricing tiers (and the reason behind the $10 delivery fee) before we could move this flower subscription up in our rankings, but overall it's easy to say that this is an above-average choice.
