Fresh flowers are a part of some of life's most significant moments. An engagement ring nestled in a dozen red roses. A red-white-and-blue tribute arrangement at a veteran's celebration of life. That "just because" bouquet when someone needs to know they're loved. From Valentine's Day to Mother's Day and a thousand other occasions, flowers are the perfect way to show your love, gratitude, or appreciation.
But, if you live in Memphis and you're trying to delight, surprise, or honor someone who lives in Miami, you can't just run to your local florist and pick something out. That's where flower delivery companies come in. Most florists (including your preferred mom-and-pop flower shop) participate in one or more networks, like FTD and Teleflora. These connections let you place your order and have it brought to life by a florist in your recipient's area, easy-peasy.

If you love supporting family-owned and operated businesses, your first choice among flower delivery companies should be The Flower Factory. In business for nearly 30 years, this florist pays more attention to customer satisfaction than most of its rivals - making sure your lucky recipient is absolutely delighted by the bouquet they receive. Whether you're sending a simple "Get Well" arrangement or choosing the 100 long-stemmed roses in the Luxury collection, you can trust The Flower Factory to get it right - the first time.
If you want the kind of service you'd expect from a family-owned florist that's been in business for the better part of a century, order your bouquet from 1 800 Florals. This is the nationwide delivery arm of Phillip's Flowers, which has several shops in the Chicagoland area and been in business since 1923. No bells-and-whistles here, just a straightforward website with a nice selection of arrangements - and lower-than-average service and delivery fees. 1 800 Florals is a small business we're happy to recommend.
Enjoy Flowers lets you skip the florist network and get your bouquet directly from the flower farm - with no shipping fees. This flower delivery service lets you choose between a one-off, seasonally-fresh arrangement or a monthly subscription. You won't find nearly as many options here, especially if you're trying to send an occasion-specific arrangement, and there's no same-day delivery service. But, customers rave about the beauty and longevity of Enjoy Flowers' bouquets, and you'll get quite a bit more for your money.
1 Stop Florists has around 80 bouquets and arrangements to choose from, one of the smaller selections in our review. But, as a Gift Tree Brand, this flower delivery company lets you include fun options that go beyond balloons and bears: your flowers could come with a bottle of sparkling cider, champagne or wine too. 1 Stop Florists' clients have great things to say about the customer service here, making this a store we recommend too.
As one of the FTD network's top florists, Flowers Fast has been delivering bouquets since 1997. This is one of the only places we know of that allows you to request custom arrangements - and that doesn't charge a service fee for same-day delivery (as long as you order by noon in your recipient's time zone). We also like how Flowers Fast takes good care of its customers, even when their partner florists drop the ball. This is our preferred flower delivery company for anyone looking for a personalized bouquet with no surcharge.
Teleflora is one of two primary florist networks: almost anywhere you order flowers, it'll go through Teleflora or its big rival. Why not go directly to Teleflora instead? Some customers have a fantastic experience, while others are disappointed by this flower company's follow-through. You may want to look at higher-ranked florists in our review first, but Teleflora's not a bad option.
Flower Explosion was once one of our top-recommended flower delivery companies. They ship your bouquets directly from farms in the US and South America, with no delivery fees. Plus, there are lots of buying options here that go well beyond traditional bouquets, like fundraisers and wedding arrangements. Sadly, customer comments for Flower Explosion aren't the glowing praise we've seen in the past, dropping this florist to "just average" .
FloraQueen is based in Spain and specializes in flower delivery throughout the world. Their selection of bouquets and arrangements is smaller than most, but the delivery fees are very affordable compared with rival florists. This might be a company to consider if you're having flowers delivered internationally, but FloraQueen's customers say it can be hard to get help from a representative when needed - to the tune of 21,000+ negative reviews. We'd choose a different flower delivery company for all US deliveries.
1-800-Flowers offers gift-giving options that go far beyond flowers - because they're the parent company for other brands like Harry & David, The Popcorn Factory, and several others. When you buy your bouquet, arrangement, or plant here, it may be fulfilled by a local florist or delivered via FedEx - and unfortunately, either way, 1-800-Flowers doesn't demonstrate an ironclad commitment to their 100% satisfaction guarantee, with numerous customers saying that they had difficult-to-resolve issues with late deliveries and poor overall quality. We'd recommend looking at a higher-ranked flower delivery company before settling for 1-800-Flowers.
Harry & David is best known for gourmet gift-giving, so you may not realize they have options for flower delivery too. The selection is fairly small, though, and most arrangements are fulfilled through their sister brand, 1-800-Flowers - unless you choose a bouquet that comes with wine or other food items. We're not thrilled with recent customer comments about Harry & David's responses (or lack thereof) to issues with orders, and so we recommend looking elsewhere for better service and selection.
FTD owns the world's largest florist network, with thousands of flower delivery companies using the service. But, you can order your flowers directly from FTD too - and it might be worth it to do so if you're a frequent buyer, because of their two available rewards programs. Unfortunately, customers say that FTD doesn't do much to take responsibility when their partner florists drop the ball. We'd recommend choosing an online florist that cares more about your satisfaction.
ProFlowers ought to be an amazing flower delivery company, in business for over 20 years and an FTD partner. But, despite several quality guarantees, this online florist doesn't have a good reputation for actually honoring them: thousands of people complain about the service here (or lack thereof). Choose a different flower shop.
Florists used to be one of our most recommended flower delivery services, but we have a hard time finding much to praise here now. Their selection has diminished, their delivery fees are much higher than average, all while shoppers say that it's almost impossible to get a refund even when bouquets never arrive (or are delivered so after-the-fact as to be laughable). Even being part of the 1-800-Flowers family isn't enough to salvage the reputation of Florists, and you'll want to look for an online flower shop that cares more about customer satisfaction.
From You Flowers starts out looking promising: 24/7 customer service, delivery practically worldwide, and same-day delivery almost anywhere. That only counts if the bouquets actually arrive - and if you can get help when they don't. We had a hard time finding the "7 million satisfied customers" that From You Flowers claims they have - especially among thousands of negative reviews. We don't recommend this flower shop.
Send Flowers is a sister site to From You Flowers, another service you'll find evaluated here. Neither company gets a recommendation from us, especially since they both require payment information before displaying a customer's final price and delivery fees. This particular flower delivery company winds up at the bottom of our rankings due to awful customer service. Fortunately, you have a number of higher-ranked, reliable online florists to choose from. Don't give Send Flowers a second thought.
Because so many florists use these networks, you'll often find the same arrangements featured on their online stores. That's where attention to customer service really makes the difference: any network florist will be at the mercy of how the store on the receiving end actually pulls the arrangement together, and sometimes the quality on that side isn't what the original florist promised. When that happens, the best flower delivery companies will take responsibility for your satisfaction - either through a refund or a redelivery, often with a different local florist if available. That's more or less "business as usual" when you're buying flowers from a traditional online florist.
However, that's not the only option for flower delivery. You can also choose to send flowers from a service that works directly with growers: the bouquets are fresh-cut and carefully packaged, kept chilled in transit, and delivered right to your recipient's doorstep. These direct-to-customer flower companies are a great solution if there aren't any florists local to the person you're sending them to - because FedEx and UPS can get just about anywhere in the US. Another plus with this type of flower delivery is the price: you'll often get twice as many blooms for what you'd get for the same money spent at a more traditional flower shop.
So, where should you buy your flowers? Your options are almost as vast as the variety of blooms themselves. It might feel a little less overwhelming if you use these criteria to guide your choice:
To help you get the best floral arrangements delivered exactly as expected, TopConsumerReviews.com has evaluated and ranked the most popular flower delivery services available today. We're sure your lucky recipient will feel a whole bunch of happiness and sunshine when they see their beautiful fresh-cut flowers!
