To get flower delivery with a personalized, mom-and-pop feel, look no further than 1 800 Florals. Originally opened as Phillip's Flowers by - you guessed it - the Phillip Family all the way back in 1923, this flower shop continues to be run by the kids and grandkids today. They're pretty sure that Grandma and Grandpa would be pretty pleased with the way they've kept up the family tradition of commitment to attentive service and the freshest flowers - and we think you'll be delighted too.

Worldwide, same-day delivery in most locations

Despite not having the most modern-looking website, 1 800 Florals is a worldwide flower delivery service, able to get your bouquets to your recipient on the same day (if desired) in most areas, Monday through Saturday. There are a handful of exceptions - no deliveries at all in Hawaii, for example - but on the whole, you can use 1 800 Florals no matter where you want your arrangements to be sent. One small pointer: if you're sending flowers internationally, there's a separate section for that on the website. Just look for the "International Flowers” link on the homepage.

Site could use a few filters

For all of the flower delivery sites on our list, we looked for two specific things: a bouquet of a dozen red roses and a basic sympathy arrangement. As we did that with 1 800 Florals, the first thing we noticed is that there aren't any filters to narrow down options by color or flower type, and we couldn't see the results ordered by price. So, for the sympathy section, we were afraid that the only flowers available for delivery were the kind suitable for the memorial service itself: those were all we saw on the first page. But, as we clicked through the three pages of sympathy flowers, we found some smaller bouquets and arrangements that were comparable to what we comparison-shopped on other florists' websites. The most budget-friendly sympathy flowers at 1 800 Flowers started at $79.95 and included the Peaceful Garden Basket, the Eternal Affection Arrangement, and the Living Spirit Dishgarden Planter, among a few others.

Competitively-priced on a dozen long-stemmed roses

And the dozen roses? That one was a little easier: right from the menu, we just clicked on "send roses online” and we were on our way. There wasn't an "entry-level” option for a dozen, though there were a few options with just 3 or 6 roses priced under $50. To get a dozen long-stemmed red roses at 1 800 Florals, expect to pay $74.95+. You'll see three price options (including $79.95 and $89.95), and the company explains that the higher value will mean longer stems, bigger blooms, fuller foliage, and so on.

Balloons and bears, no chocolate

Right on each arrangement's page, you can opt to add in a mylar balloon or a teddy bear. Unlike some of the flower delivery companies on our list, 1 800 Florals doesn't include chocolate as an upgrade possibility.

$16.95 delivery fee is a bargain

We love that there are no surprises with delivery fees: right when you add the bouquet you want to your cart, the $16.95 delivery and service cost shows up on the page. Not only is that just as transparent as we like, it's also much more affordable than most of 1 800 Florals' competitors.

Straightforward checkout

The rest of the checkout process here feels a little old-school. You'll fill in a form that's pretty basic, with your name and billing info, the recipient's address, and a card message you'd like to include. Specify the desired delivery date (and keep in mind that it needs to be submitted before 11AM in your recipient's time zone for same-day delivery). But really, does it need to be complicated? We say no. And, if you have any special requests (emphasis on a particular color or flower type, for example), just enter that in the box while you're at it.

Best Flower Delivery Services

Perfect record with the BBB

Although you'll have to look under "Phillip's Flowers” to find the listing, the BBB gives this florist a flawless "A+” rating, and there were absolutely no complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau over the last three years. Only one other flower delivery service on our list can say that.

They go the extra mile

Better yet, shoppers are very effusive in their compliments for 1 800 Florals' customer support. From Trustpilot to Yelp and beyond, the story is the same: "this company goes the extra mile”. It's true that this flower shop uses many of the same florist networks as the rivals on our list (like FTD and Teleflora), but they go above and beyond by making sure you're just as happy with the end result in Cheyenne as you would be if they were personally arranging your bouquet at their shop in Chicagoland. We read glowing praise from clients who have used 1 800 Florals for more than two decades and wouldn't dream of using any other florist. Others described how the local partner florist did a poor job on the bouquet, but 1 800 Florals offered a refund or replacement (and an apology for something that wasn't technically their fault).

#1 pick for flower delivery

While we do raise our eyebrow a bit at 1 800 Florals for the slightly underwhelming user experience on its website, we can enthusiastically recommend this flower delivery company overall. Lots of florists have a slick website but fall down on the job when it comes to customer satisfaction, but this family-owned business puts nothing but heart into the way they treat their clients. For gorgeous flowers backed by exceptional service, 1 800 Florals is the way to go.

Flower Delivery Service FAQ

Trust the science: research has shown that, even now, people who get flowers feel happier immediately, experience a positive mood boost that lasts for several days, and they feel a stronger connection with the person who gave them. That's definitely not boring!
The most obvious holiday is Valentine's Day: over 220 million roses are grown for that day alone! The next most popular occasions are Mother's Day, Christmas and Hanukkah. Of course, there's no way for the floral industry to track "apology bouquets”; those can happen 365 days a year!
You may want to see if your delivery comes with a vase; if not, you might be able to include one for an additional fee. Many services offering flower delivery will give you options during the checkout process, asking if you'd like to add a stuffed animal, balloon, chocolates or other extras to your purchase.
You can certainly find flowers that match your budget, whether that's $25 or $250. You'll spend more for a premium bouquet, especially if it has flower varieties that are out of season or exotic. Roses, carnations, gerbera and some types of lilies are grown year-round, and that can help you keep costs down if you're watching your wallet.
Yes, there's likely going to be a delivery fee tacked on to your flower delivery. The faster you want the flowers to arrive, the more you can expect to spend. There's almost always a surcharge if you're having the flowers arrive on a weekend, too.
If you choose a flower delivery provider that uses a nationwide network of partner florists to fulfill orders, you should be able to get same-day delivery. Otherwise, expect your order to take a few days to be packaged and shipped.
Your local flower shop might not have access to the widest possible variety of blooms and arrangements. Shopping for your flower delivery online gives you the best available selection, especially if you're having them sent somewhere far from home.
That depends on the flower delivery service you choose. Most companies want you (and your recipient) to be absolutely delighted with the arrangement or bouquet they receive, and the best florists go to great lengths to make it right if the blooms arrive wilted, damaged or anything other than gorgeous. You'll want to check out the reputation of the florist before you commit to an order; lots of positive customer reviews and a strong rating from the Better Business Bureau are two indications that you'll be very happy with your flower delivery service.

Continued from above...

Some services even offer same-day or next-day delivery, so you can send a thoughtful gift even if you're shopping at the last minute. How do they get it done? Usually, online flower delivery services are partnered with a florist network, so that your order is fulfilled by someone local (although there are a few who ship their bouquets directly from the farm).

Want to make your gift even more special? You can often add on a vase, balloons, chocolates, or a custom greeting card with a personal message. This flexibility makes it easy to personalize your order so that it perfectly fits the sentiment you want to convey.

So, which online florist should you use for your next beautiful bouquet or artful arrangement? Choosing the right flower delivery service can depend on a few key factors:

  • Types of flowers and arrangements offered. Take a quick browse through the site and see what the overall vibe is. Do they have the range of flowers you'd expect, and in arrangements that will appeal to your recipient?
  • Delivery speed and delivery area. If you need a same-day "sorry” bouquet, can the company get it done? Does the service cover your recipient's zip code?
  • Upgrade options. Does the flower delivery company have anything available to add that personal touch? You may want to add some chocolates or a cute stuffed animal for an extra-special "I love you”.
  • Reputation. A quick look at reviews and delivery policies can help you pick the best service, especially if you're sending flowers to someone outside your local area. While the flower delivery service you choose is usually dependent on partner florists to make the arrangements, the best companies will always make it right if their partners' picks leave you disappointed in some way.

To help you send a meaningful message across the distance, Top Consumer Reviews has researched and ranked some of today's most popular flower delivery options. Whether you're opting for a simple bouquet or an elaborate arrangement, that flower delivery is sure to bring warmth and happiness into someone's day with just a few clicks.
